'We three kings' brought a festive Christmas mood to my dark and rainy October.
Filled with wholesome moments, sweet characters and funny bits, it sure did make me feel very cozy and warm.
Maggie is a great main character and her three kings were the sweetest!! Loved each one of them!
The way they supported each other was just so nice to see. This book showed how little it takes to be nice to other people and how hard it can be to make decisions when you love someone.
Would've easily given this book 4 stars, but it was very predictable (at least for me). So I'm giving it 3.5 stars. Overall, this is a truly amazing and very cute Christmas book I would definitely recommend to my friends.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this ARC.
This is a really cute one! It is a "Hallmark Christmas" story. This is a nice, light read for the Christmas season.
Thank you to Net Galley for the arc!
So excited to read another Kristen Bailey book. Loved following Maggie along during her Christmas adventures, and getting to know each of her three employees a little better (and one even BETTER, wink wink). I loved exploring each character's family and traditions, sharing the things that we sometimes keep private at work. I loved Maggie's supportive parents, and her constant optimism to create a positive work environment and to do little things that have a big impact on those around you. Great read!
This is a perfect festive read! It's funny, heartwarming and a pleasure to read. I loved all the characters, they all felt real and you were genuinely rooting for them all throughout the book. I loved that Maggie spent time with Frank, Jasper and Leo one-on-one as it really showed their different characters and a little bit of each of their backstory. Each part of Maggie's Christmas adventure was really fun to read and I loved how her relationship with each of the boys developed. The romance was sweet and although it was clear from the start that they would get together, it was lovely to see their journey together. I will definitely be reading more of Kristen Bailey's books and would recommend this to anyone who likes a fun, festive romance.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this eArc in exchange for an honest review.
Christmas time is the only time I will read romantic comedies. my only gripe is I read it too soon before Christmas
What a great read
Thank you for the opportunity to review
This is possibly my favourite Christmas romance book so far. I adored the banter and the friends turned family. I love how easy it is to read, each chapter gives you that "just one more chapter" feeling. Definitely an easy 5 star for me.
Some books instantly make you feel at home, and this one made me feel like I was snuggled by the fireplace, hot chocolate in hand and wrapped in a ( Christmas ) blanket. Kristen Bailey filled this book with humor and kindness and romance and fun!
Maggie and her co-workers Jasper, Leo and Frank are the work friends you dream of, as they idle their days away down in the IT Department. Their four personalities, all different and unique, end up meshing in that brilliant way that only forced friends can be, in that you suddenly don't know how these people could ever not be in your life. Which is a dilemma for Maggie as she is forced to choose one of her friends to let go by the New Year. When they hear that Maggie will be all alone for Christmas, they bandy together to ensure that she gets that same Christmas experience, by spending her time across the three friends festive celebrations. What follows is laugh out loud moments, true signs of friendship, genuine romantic sparks ( hello!) and a decision that Maggie has to make.
This was my first Kristen Bailey book but it won't be my last, as her writing and humor had me hooked from the word go, a truly lovely read that I inhaled in one sitting. The perfect festive read to get you ready for holiday hijinks!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for an early arc in exchange for an honest review.
Such a good Christmas rom com! Love it so much! It’ll be a book that I recommend to anyone who wants an extra bit of Christmas spirit during the holiday season. The romance, and humor was perfect and I throughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading this!
I loved this book and and it definitely gave all the festive feels. When Maggie's team find out she'll be spending the Christmas holidays alone, they all extend invitations to spend some time with each of them and their families. Maggie gets to see a different side to them and adores them more than she did before. This is a story about true friendships, romances and making sacrifices. The characters were all so likeable and this was a heartwarming read.
This was another cute one by Kristen Bailey. Our techie characters were super fun. And I loved all the antics that happen as Maggie goes to Frank, Jasper and Leo's holiday events.
Cute characters, fun settings, a cute holiday read.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC.
Having loved Kristen Bailey’s previous Christmas book, I jumped at the chance to read this one. Like her others, it’s warm and witty with wonderful characters. I loved Maggie and her team of “three kings”, and their adventures over the Christmas period.
It’s a lovely romance but more than that it’s a book about friendship and loyalty. The ending was never in doubt but getting there was a joy.
I’ll be first in the queue for Bailey’s next book.
🖥How to break up the four musketeers of IT?🖱😟
What a heartwarming and entertaining story with a definite Christmas vibe, four great principal characters and a raft of good secondary ones, too (including some rascally fox kits and a donkey). It certainly had me staying up to finish the story and learn if female lead Maggie could find the magic solution to keep everyone happy, including herself.
I loved Maggie and, as the story progressed through the Christmas holidays, it was easy to understand why her IT team of Frank, Jasper and Leo thought of her as a friend as well as their boss. She's so supportive, so ready to go the extra mile both on the job and when they invite her to be part of their holiday celebrations. This story has whimsy, warmth and a good slow build romance, plus the suspense of waiting to learn which member of the IT team would get a pink slip thanks to a sudden, just before the holidays, company decision to eliminate jobs. And I really liked that the author gave us pretty thorough dives into the lives and families of the whole of the IT crew, not just Maggie and her love interest.
The romance has some heat but I would not call it steamy, and hit just the right note for me. And to see Maggie's positive influence on and readiness to go out of her way to help others, the story was a bit inspirational too. A lovely read.
Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Charming 🥰. That’s the best word to describe the characters, the friendships, the relationships in this book. I just felt like at any given time I could reach through the book and give Leo, Frank, Jasper and Maggie (otherwise known as the IT department) a hug. It was a sweet Christmas story about what you do for the people you love, and are in love with, and what they do for you. Plus a donkey, baby foxes, and a driver named Jesus all make an appearance to make things even more festive 😂
This was a sweet book with some really sweet characters, I adore a chirstmas book with a happy ending and a feel good outcome so this ticked all of those spots.
My only criticism would be how long the build up was, I felt like I really struggled to initially get into the story and was waiting for something to happen. I think it could be better if it was trimmed down.
Overall an easy read perfect for holiday season.,”
I thought this book was sweet and fun for a holiday romance! The premise of the novel is that Maggie works in the IT department in her office, which often gets overlooked by the company. Her three employees, Jasper, Leo, and Frank are all a bit nerdy but sweet and well meaning. Once they find out that she'll be alone for Christmas, they all help to invite her to their own Christmas celebrations.
I do think that sometimes the humor in the novel felt a bit forced, and the pacing was sometimes not to my taste, but overall I think it's a fun holiday read and I would reccomend it if you're someone who enjoys cheesy romances and Hallmark movies.
I really enjoy Kristen Bailey’s writing and humour, and this (early) festive treat is no exception. Maggie negotiating the Christmas season with her very different colleagues/found family would be entertaining enough, but there are a couple of curve balls - the unexpected news that she has to make one of them redundant, plus a situation that has been brewing for a while - that add depth and a frisson of uncertainty to her escapades. And there are escapades, some of which are animal-related (because surely it’s not really Christmas without a donkey?), not to mention plenty of workplace banter, genuine friendship, and a romance which is signposted from the outset but develops in an endearingly realistic and slightly awkward manner. It was a truly joyous read that I’ll definitely return to as part of future festive reading.
Thank you to Storm Publishing for eARC access to this book!
Can we just talk about how wholesome and pure this book was? Holy moly did I love every single character in this. Maggie is the cutest FMC ever & the three IT boys are the cutest. Each has their own story and personality - I loved them all so much. I cried quite a bit towards the ends because it was showed how amazing this group of people are.
The Christmas setting was an added bonus but it wasn’t over the top which I loved! It gave time to fall in love with the characters and everything about that.
If you love a Christmas theme with the cutest characters & a great love story, I highly recommend this one!
I just want to say before I start this review that I'm really not a huge fan of Christmas. I don't enjoy the Hallmark movies, going to see lights or any of the other Christmas time activities. That's not to say I begrudge anyone who does. If you enjoy Christmas, I love that you can find the joy and magic in the holiday still. I just can't. I don’t know if it was my years in retail and food service that did it, but the season just represents stress and financial problems to me.
So why did I bother requesting a Christmas themed ARC? Because the synopsis sounded adorable and I loved Kristen Bailey's writing in Textbook Romance and was excited to read another of her books, even if it was a Christmas book.
I bring all this up just so you have a reference when I say how much I absolutely loved this book! It was just as sweet as Textbook Romance with great characters you immediately love. It made me laugh and smile and might have added a bit of a magical Christmas spark back into my grinch heart.
No matter how you feel about Christmas, if you want to read a lovely rom com book you should definitely pick this up!
I really enjoyed the characters. They were loveable and I loved how they messed with each other while also taking care of one another. It is about more than just romantic love and that was brilliant. I did feel that the romance aspect was a little rushed, but overall great. It is a closed door romance, other than when people open the door and everyone is horrified :)
I really enjoyed this ARC. The book started a bit slow for me but once I got into it I laughed and cried! What a really good book to read for fun! Thanks for the arc!
