Absolutely top of my all time faves of Christmas RomComs! So many laugh out loud moments, real heartwarming friendships and of course a good dash of romance!
I had a good time with this one. The three separate experiences with the men were fun to read about. I enjoyed the humor and banter between everyone. I loved her desire to take care of her friends. It was a fun and wholesome story.
We Three Kings is a holiday treat, following Maggie as she spends part of the holiday week with each of her co-workers. Not only does she get the chance to experience multiple celebrations and learn about her work friends, she also finds herself falling in love while keeping a secret that could ruin all of their relationships.
When I started to read We Three Kings by Kristen Bailey, I made the mistake of believing the book was just another holiday romantic comedy. While the romance is sweet and the comedy is silly, the book is so much more. It’s about friendship, sacrifice, and realizing that sometimes the good guys win.
In We Three Kings we follow Maggie and her exceptionally smart but sometimes awkward band of misfits from the IT department. When the men find out that Maggie will be alone for Christmas they involve her in their family festivities. But before she can escape the office for the holiday break she is informed that she has to downsize her department. Broken by this news, Maggie doesn’t know how to approach the subject with her three kings. So she sets out for her Christmas adventures and tries to put it out of her mind.
Frank is awkward and afraid of his own shadow, but genuine and sweet. Maggie spends the day with him as his plus one trying to be the amazing girlfriend he made her out to be to his family.
Jasper seems to have a perpetual chip on his shoulder and Maggie is sure he never smiles. But finding out the secrets Jasper is keeping explains so much of why he comes across as difficult at times.
Leo is as solid as they come. He is sweet, loveable… ummm but Maggie is his boss. Sparks fly, but can they make it work?
We Three Kings is one of the most wholesome books I’ve read in a long time. Read at your own risk though because you will laugh out loud, cry lightly, but also be wracked with sobs and snot everywhere. You will be reminded of the true meaning of Christmas, what friendship is, and that sometimes mince pies will heal anything.
Thank you to #wethreekings #netgalley and Storm Publishing for the advanced copy in lieu of my honest review.
I am still not sure how to think about what I just read.
So many emotions, sweet moments and heartfelt moments.
So much chemistry.
And also sooo many awkward moments and boundaries crossed.
This was a good book.
This book made me laugh with all the crazy situations that Maggie got herself into. She was a fantastic character and and so were the three guys. All the characters played such a great role in this book. Made it so good.
I am really having a hard time coming up with a way to explain this book bc there was so much to say but also so much I can't say because it could ruin reading the book.
If you are looking for a lovely, sweet, funny and entertaining book with a bit of holiday cheer and great characters then this is the book for you to read.
What a fun read! Maggie is the head of a disfunctional trio of IT engineers, employed (and frequently forgotten until computers fail) in the basement of a large company. Maggie's parents are off on a cruise for Christmas and she has decided not to go along, which her three workmates hear about and decide to include her in their plans.
So she attends a wedding, a country house party and a family gathering in the Lakes, getting to know her kindly work team at the same time. But Maggie has a secret; the charmers in HR (who didn't invite her team to the company Christmas bash) have decided redunancies are needed and she must let one of her team go.
Its a modern, interesting and vibrant book and I enjoyed it very much. A real slice of modern working life! Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for allowing me access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a delightful romcom full of hilarious banter and fun relationships! Maggie Field works as the manager of IT at a financial firm in London with her three nerdy, loveable employees: Frank, Jasper, and Leo. Although she is technically their boss, they associate more like friends as they are often forgotten by the company in their tiny basement office where they only have each other. When the guys realize Maggie will be alone over Christmas, they decide she will spend a few days with each of them and their families for the holidays. Right before she leaves, a bomb is dropped by her company that there will be budget cuts and Maggie must lay off one of her three employees upon returning from holiday break. Maggie sets off on an incredible adventure with each of them, enjoying a lavish wedding with Frank, a posh country estate with Jasper, and a low-key cozy family gathering in the wintery country up north with Leo (the latter of whom she seems to be developing feelings for). As she gets to know each of them better, how will she make this impossible decision to let one go? I absolutely adored this book – it is a perfect feel-good cozy holiday romcom with unique characters and hilarious banter throughout. It did get a little slow at times and I would have liked to see a bit more romantic relationship development (there was a low level of spice). The story and friendships felt authentic and the ending had a predictable but heartwarming twist. Bailey does an excellent job of making the characters and family interactions likeable, entertaining, and relatable. I fell in love with all of the main characters, but especially Maggie who is lovable goof that you can’t help but root for (the curtain scene was my favorite). If you are looking for a new cute and cozy holiday romcom, I would highly recommend giving this one a try! Thank you to NetGalley, Kristen Bailey, and Storm Publishing for the gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Such an adorable holiday romance. I love these characters, and their found family is honestly everything i ever wanted. The story is really good, and while i was expecting it, i love how it turned out. This is what life should feel like tbh.
Thank you to netgalley and the author for sending me the book in exchange for an honest review
A brilliant read, heartwarming festive and so enjoyable. Maggie works in IT and has the hard task of who to make redundant and who to keep on, poor Maggie is distraught. Can she find a way to keep her work family together, and maybe even find true love under the mistletoe?
An easy to read festive rom com guaranteed to brighten up the darkest winters day. With her trademark humour and skilled story telling the author draws the reader in and keeps them hooked to the last word. One for fans of Beth O’Leary and Sophie Kinsella
This was a great and festive read. I enjoyed the characters, and the pace moved quickly. Recommended for any holiday rom com book list!

Okay, so yes, utter predictability lies within these pages. But you know what, I'm okay with that. I am okay with a story of a woman and three guys. They work together and one needs to be laid off. Only the girl doesn't want to make a decision who. All of them have good qualities and ALL of them are friends. One might be a little more than a friend.
So over the holidays, and the girl spending time with each one, we see how truly coworkers become your family. You see the messy and the hard and have all the fun. I mean this is me with all of my coworkers. What I do appreciate is that there is PLATONIC friendship between the group. There's no weird love rectangle. Instead it's coworkers supporting coworkers.
Yes it has a happy ending. Shocker I know. But in this day and age, I need happy and predictable and all the Christmas things.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a captivating read that held my attention from start to finish. The story was well-paced, and the characters felt real and engaging. I’m grateful to the publisher for providing an early copy—it was a pleasure to read!
Kristen Bailey is becoming queen of the holiday rom com. Last year I loved Five Gold Rings and We Three Kings was another cute holiday romance. I liked how she didn’t go for the typical brooding gorgeous hero…she picked quirky IT guys. The characters were real. Everything felt authentic and it made me laugh out loud! Precious holiday romance!
This is like the IT Crowd with romance. It feels a little toooo IT Crowd in places but it was still just about original enough to work. There are a few moments when I thought 'yeah that character would never do that' but all in all - a fun Christmassy read.
Maggie is the bright light in the damp basement that serves as the necessary but forgotten IT department at the company where she works.
What makes her job tolerable are Frank, Jasper, and Leo the three men who work alongside her. Weird, awkward, and delightful, these four people accidentally became family.
Finding herself alone for Christmas and resigned to a few days on her couch with snacks and movies, the guys take it upon themselves to include her in their holiday plans: a wedding with Frank, a family getaway with Jasper, and a few days with Leo up North.
Maggie agrees and finds the trips, the company of her coworkers to be delightful! She learns about each of the boys and their families, gaining insight she’d not had before which only strengthens their bond. Plus there’s the little fact that something is blossoming between Leo and Maggie.
But she’s ignoring the fact that HR announced to her that she needs to fire one member of her team by New Years, an impossible task.
Bailey writes the loveliest characters that you absolutely root for. Her oddballs remain relatable, the kids are scene stealers, and her found families feel like warmest hugs on a cold night.
I’m a big fan (Textbook Romance is a favorite for 2024) and this is a delightful holiday story full of heart and family and love.
WE THREE KINGS is my first Kristen Bailey book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story follows Maggie at Christmas as she spends the holidays with her three colleagues/friends and their families.
The family encounters were really cute. The conflict was a bit predictable, but didn’t fall into the typical miscommunication trope.
Overall, an enjoyable holiday rom com.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC.
Frothy, Warm..
Maggie Field was anticipating a Christmas alone in her flat. But then ,her workmates decided to change all that. However, Maggie soon finds herself with an impossible order to fulfil. A fun and festive cosy caper/romcom with a cast of well executed characters and a frothy, pacy and often madcap plot. Humorous, warm and affectionate, a feel good read with huge dollops of humour, friendship and relayed with empathy.
This was a heart warming story where an IT team support each other through thick and thin. Christmas, love, redundancy and the future are all in the mix. Great Story all the way through.
