Maggie is the supervisor in her IT department and works with three other guys, Jasper, Frank, and Leo. Unfortunately, Maggie has to spend this Christmas alone, so her co-workers let her come along on their separate holiday excursions. During this time, she gets to know them and their families a lot better. But here's the catch, right before they left for their respective holidays, Maggie was given a really tough choice to make that will affect everyone, and she has no idea what she will do.
What a completely pleasant read that puts you right into the holiday spirit. I've never read another Kristen Bailey book, but I will definitely be adding more to my TBR. The emotional build up between Maggie and her three co-workers was so heart warming and I loved that she was able to spend time with them all outside of work to get to know them better. Although, the decision was rough for her to make, I knew what she would do in the end, and I was right, and I truly think that it was the best that could have happened.
Every character was just so likeable and sweet and Maggie and Leo were just the perfect compliments of each other. Frank is an awkward sweetheart, Jasper was a true angel who wanted nothing but the best for all of his friends, and Leo was just a perfect man. Maggie was a wonderful FMC with soft spots for all three of them, as well as everyone else around her.
Thank you to Storm Publishing, Kristen Bailey, and NetGalley for the eARC of this book. This is my honest review.
Christmas is always better with some romance, right? Kristen Bailey has written a sweet, engaging Christmas romance. Maggie, head of the IT dept, has created a wonderful little family in the basement of their company. When love is in the air, she's over the moon, but then she's stuck with an impossible decision. Will she be able to keep their family together?
This book was a lighthearted Christmas rom-com that delivers all the cozy holiday vibes you’d expect. The banter, fun character dynamics, and holiday setting make it a quick, feel-good read. 🎄💕
The story follows Maggie, the head of the IT team, who is invited to spend the holidays with her three male colleagues. The premise is charming, and the relationships between Maggie, Frank, Jasper, and Leo are filled with cute moments. Maggie herself is a likable character, and I enjoyed her interactions with the men in her life. 🥰🧡
However, I did find Leo’s (the MMC) character a bit of a teenager type. His response during a particularly challenging moment was a bit disappointing. His reaction came across as somewhat immature, and when Maggie made a significant personal sacrifice for him, I felt like the weight of her decision wasn’t fully acknowledged. It left me wanting more depth in how that situation was handled, as it could have added a stronger emotional layer to the story. 😐
That said, if you’re looking for something simple and cozy with holiday spirit, We Three Kings will still give you that festive charm. It’s great for a lighthearted escape into a holiday romance.
This is a very cute book that takes place in London. 4 work friends and their interactions, a little sweet romance with zero spice. It’s a perfect weekend/holiday book. Nothing deep. Thanks to @dreamscape_media and @stormbooks_co for the advanced copies of the audio and digital copies.
IT pro, Maggie Field, joins a small team of three as their manager - often forgotten and in the basement of a nice office building. What makes it most enjoyable is the relationship she's developed with her staff. As the holidays approach, Maggie finds herself planning for Christmas alone, but her colleagues are not having it! She is invited to spend a portion the holiday with each and their respective families. But as she is leaving for the holiday, HR calls her in and gives her the news that she must lay off one of the team. But how can she decide? Each has compelling reasons for her to choose someone else. I found the story somewhat predictable, though the way in which the story unfolds more than made up for it.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and Kristen Bailey for the eARC.
Excellent Christmas atmosphere. I really enjoyed the characters and the vivid settings. I had some questions about the plot, but frankly that’s not why one reads a holiday romance. I’ll definitely be reading more of Bailey’s books on KU.
Thank you to Netgalley, Storm Publishing and Kristen Bailey for the chance to read this book AND LISTEN to it in exchange for my honest review.
We Three Kings wowed me. If you're looking for romance and STRONG found family this holiday season- this book is for you. The story is cozy, believable and charming. Also- the way this is not an open door romance but is hotter than some open door romances is wild to me.
I know we are all used to falling in love with our MMCs, but get ready to fall in love with the whole dang friend group/work family/besties. I am equally obsessed with Jasper & Frank as I am with Leo. These are truly men written by women at their finest.
Obviously I will read any book by Kristen Bailey so I went into this one without reading the blurb.
All we’ve established beforehand is that it’s NOT a why choose. And I’m so happy it wasn’t because what I got was the most heartwarming Christmas story, full of love and friendships and crazy family dynamics! I mean, you got your IT Crowd-ish team of three geeks and their geeky manager, then there’s a Crazy Rich Asians-style wedding, a posh people fox hunt, and the love story that will make you smile non-stop through the book.
It is very clear from like chapter 2 who is the love interest, so there’s no mystery there. Poor Leo had been pining for Maggie, his manager, from day one. And Maggie finally starts to notice. The way he cared for her safety and wellbeing made me wish he’d been pining for me instead. But don’t mistake him for a sad lonely boy: Leo knows what he wants and he is not afraid to show it when it matters. The way some, ahem, more intimate details were revealed would’ve made me kick my feet in the air, but I was on a plane so I had to reign myself in.
I was afraid since we sort of had 3 main male characters, that there won’t be enough romance and I’d lose interest. But I found myself caring about Frank and Jasper so much. Besides, the boys get their own mini love stories so my soul was happy.
This book is so warm and funny and a total HR mess, but who cares? It got me through another trip and a nasty cold so I’ll always be grateful.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️(this is subjective: not explicit but somehow hotter than many)

What a wonderful story. This book was my introduction to this author and I am so glad I’ve found her. She creates wonderful fully formed real characters dealing with plausible real life issues. Maggie is an IT specialist with a team of 3. They are a very tight knit group as for the most part, ignored and or treated like third class citizens by their company. They’re actually not even invited to the company holiday party because “oops, they forgot all about them”says the head of the HR department as she is callously tasking her with a very difficult decision. She is looking for a quiet holiday alone and yet her team won’t hear of it. She spends part of the holiday with each of them all while silently dealing with her own emotional turmoil of having to make that tough decision post upon their return to the office. Love, friendship, family, work all explored in a wonderful love filled holiday rom-com.
What an amazing book! It's been a long time since I've laughed as hard as I did while reading this book. I love British rom-coms, but this exceeded my wildest expectations. As a person working in IT, I finally feel noticed and I really appreciate that someone added a bit of romance to comical situations straight from the sitcom the IT Crowd. This book is a wonderful, heartwarming, Christmas story about friendship, loyalty, love, and the right moment in life when you suddenly look in a completely different way at someone you haven't noticed for years. I just love this story! I couldn't tear myself away from it, I read it in one breath. I love every character in this book and I think that if any of them were missing from this book, this story would not be the same anymore.
I really enjoyed this story about Maggie and her three co-workers, great characters!
Maggie is Head of IT, with Jasper, Frank and Leo working with her. When they hear that she will be spending Christmas on her own they hatch a plan to help, with Maggie also helping them out as their plus ones at various events.
But then Maggie is told that there are staff cutbacks and one of her team will need to be made redundant in the New Year, and she doesn't know what to do as each one of them would be devastated to lose their job and their close bond. She keeps quiet about it over Christmas as she really doesn't know what to do, and carries on with the Christmas plans. But then Leo finds out about it and the cat is out of the bag.
I really loved all the quirky characters in this book. It was obvious Maggie and Leo both had feelings for each other, and they got closer as the story went on, but equally both Frank and Jasper were very funny characters, both a bit of a fish out of water in their respective families, but they all got on with each other so well.
Very enjoyable read with lots going on in the various family events Maggie attends with the guys.
They were the perfect team working under not perfect circumstances. They were friends but not tight friends and everything is wide open after Frank takes Maggie as his plus one to his sister's wedding, then she goes to Jasper's home for Christmas and then to Leo's home by the lake. Everything is fun, romantic, puzzles are solved regarding everyone else, except Maggie is holding a secret that will break them. The HR Manager and company policies in this story is everything that should not exist in real life (but they do) and help to build dark humor. We Three Kings is a romance that deals with daily life and decisions, family ties, friendship, respect and values. Great entertainment!
I thank the author, her publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.
A new author for me and it was a refreshing and amusing story of four employees who realize over one holiday how important their friendship is. There's hijinks, shenanigans, with a bit of romance thrown in. You'll laugh along with Frank, Jasper, Leo, and Maggie as they reverse the quagmire of their lives.
Although I received a free ARC ebook from Net Galley and the publisher, alk thoughts and opinions are my own.
A romp of a Christmas read. The multiple viewpoints in this book really allowed visibility of each characters emotions and their progression through the tribulations that befall them. There are some mad moments and some really sad moments where things just go wrong and even if you see it coming it doesn’t make it easier to read for our characters. The book has twinges of nostalgia after all I missed out on a few of the 80s games that I was desperate to have too. Seeing London to the eyes of the characters was a nice touch for a Londoner and made the book seem homely and a reassuring Christmas book.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
It has been some time since I've liked a Christmas rom-com. October might be a little bit early for me, but "We Three Kings" is a nice reading for the season. It has a little bit of Workplace Romance, Slow Burn, Holiday Romance, Found Family, Friends to Lovers, He Falls First and maybe the only one I was not too happy about was Closed Door. I prefer to read and see what happens there.
But in general is a nice book. First time I´m reading Kristen Bailey and I like how she writes.
I absolutely loved this book and almost managed to read in one day. It's funny, it's fiesty and it's festive. Brilliant writing, lovable and likeable characters, an absolute joy to read and I heartily recommend reading this. Thanks netgalley for an advanced copy of this book.
In We Three Kings, Kristen Bailey delivers a festive rom-com filled with humor, heart, and holiday spirit. Maggie Field, the dedicated head of IT at a financial firm, is initially looking forward to a quiet Christmas in her cozy London flat. However, her three lovable workmates—Frank, Jasper, and Leo—have other plans, inviting her to join them for the holidays and offering her a chance to deepen her relationships. But as her boss delivers the heart-wrenching news that she must make one of her team redundant, Maggie grapples with the potential loss of the very people who bring joy to her work life.
From playing a fake girlfriend at a luxurious wedding to rescuing baby foxes and chasing a confused donkey, Maggie’s Christmas adventure is both chaotic and endearing. As she navigates the ups and downs of her professional and romantic life—especially her growing attraction to the charming Leo—Bailey beautifully captures the essence of friendship, love, and the magic of the season. Will Maggie find a way to save her work family and truly embrace the holiday spirit? We Three Kings is a delightful escapade that reminds us how love and connection can flourish during the most wonderful time of the year.
Kristen Bailey is slowly becoming my go to for festive reads with a twist. I just love her style of writing mixed with some traditional theme, I just love them
Maggie loves her job as head of IT at a financial firm, and her three geeky but lovable work buddies. And when they invite her to stay with each of them for the holidays, she can’t resist the chance to get to know them better.
But then her boss tells her she has to make one of her beloved team redundant, and Maggie is distraught. Frank’s work is his world, Jasper’s sarcastic humour is everything, and Leo…well, he’s talented, professional, confusingly attractive, dependable, and funny… Maggie definitely doesn’t want to lose him.

We Three Kings is a hilarious and heartfelt celebration of friendship, workplace romance, and finding where you belong.
This was my first novel by Kristen Bailey and won’t be my last! The writing was simple and lighthearted, and I found the characters to be refreshingly human.
I liked that the story was split into parts as the FMC spends the festive season with each of her coworkers and their families (in all their chaotic glory!)
Overall, this was an enjoyable read that I would recommend to anyone seeking a cozy romance with a holiday spirit and a healthy dose of charm.

*4.5 Stars* I loved this book. It made me laugh and cry. Jasper was my favorite character. I loved his sarcasm, and how much you could tell he cared about Maggie. He reminded me of my best friend. The element of friendship is very touching. I also loved the setting of the story. I’m really picky about Christmas books, but this was great. This book made me want to check out the author’s other Christmas books. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
