I liked visiting this world again. I liked how Kianthe and Reyna discover a problem that they need to fix while looking for the dragon eggs. I liked seeing Kianthe stand up to the bad guys as the Arcandor. I liked to see Reyna being able to use her protection and fighting skills. I loved the pirate ship stuff!
My only complaint is that it seemed a little long at times. But maybe I just didn’t read it at the right time. If you like pirate ships and making things right for society, pick this one up. You will like it.

It was wonderful to revisit some of my favorite characters of this series. I was a bit disappointed that a lot of the book was away from the tea and book shop. I like more cozy fantasy and I found it challenging to follow along but that's because I dont' read a lot of fantasy. If you enjoy Thorne, Klune, or Baldree you should definitely enjoy it if you like high stakes fantasy.

Cozy, snarky and gay af!

Yes please.

This series is fun and I love the snarkiness in the dialogue.
Book two follows Reina and Kianthe into their hea which includes more adventures this time rescuing dragon eggs to keep the town people safe from the wrath of the dragons, pirates with a second chance romance as a secondary plot.
It was fun. It did have parts that dragged a little because we had multiple plots that end up coming together.

Thanks to netgalley and Macmillan for an audio arc

4.25 stars...first off thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this audioARC of the book. I enjoyed this cozy little read just as much as the first one and can't wait for the next one now. Loved the characters, and their relationships and the fact that there was a bonus one shot at the end of the audiobook(NSFW) it had magic, Griffins, dragons, pirates, mages, some swashbuckling and cozy tea times. I would definitely recommend this one.

Overall this book is cozy and heart-warming. It's perfect for a fall day with a warm cup of tea. The narration is fantastic.

My main criticism is that I think I would prefer less romance (the cutesy bits in particular are not for me). I'd love more action or to pick up the pace plotwise.

I'd like to thank Netgalley for an advanced listener copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for this ARC Audio Copy!

A return to the world of Tomes & Tea in search of dragon eggs, tea, pirates, and some drama. I really enjoyed this book and have to say that I liked it even more than the first book in the series. It had just the right balance of cozy but also enough stakes to keep you interested through the whole story, We still follow our favorite sapphic couple who, but we are also introduced to some new characters who bring a lot to the story.

I really was excited about this one but it just didn’t live up to the hype for me. It sounded so great, and I really wanted to love it, but this book just wasn’t for me.

"It isn't about the job you do. It's about the life you build together."

I love these books. They're cozy, full of adventure, full of amazing characters, and this one has PIRATES. The pirate Dreggs is literally what/who I wanted to be when I grew up. Kianthe and Reyna are beautifully written and grow even more together in this book. They learn to communicate, learn to trust, have adventures together, and go on a chase on the high seas.

I really enjoyed the stakes in this one, the extra lesbians, and of course as always, the banter and humor. I cannot wait for book 3!!

Thank you so much to ToR for the physical ARC and NetGalley for the audiobook!! I loved both!

Once again, Jessica Threet brings life to these characters and sucks you right back into this world and does not let go of her hold on you. I love her emotions, her emphasis, and the flow in which she narrates. It is perfect for the flow of the story and conveys each scene flawlessly. Her voice is calming, and very easy to listen to, especially when jumping from character to character.

As someone who loves a cozy adventure with diverse characters, romance, LGBTQ inclusion, pirates, and tea, this book had just about everything I was looking for when reaching for an audiobook to dive into,

This is the second book in a fun series but I do feel a reader could pick this book up without missing a great deal. The reader will miss out on some details regarding the relationship between Kianthe and Reyna and some of the general backstory to how we got here, but the story takes us on a new adventure and includes new characters of Serina and Bobbie who are a bit more than attracting opposites.

Serina is a robin hood type pirate who seems to steal from the more wealthy and share with the more deserving. Bobbie, on the other hand is a constable who's job it is to capture the rogue pirate and bring her to justice. Kianthe and Reyna find themselves pulled apart not in love but by each of the sides as they try to make sense of the situation and figure out how they can get these two would-be, could-be lovers to kiss and make up.

It's just so darn cute and the story is really fun and whimsical. There's lots of swashbuckling action and a but of anxious crocheting. There are even some playful griffons and several cups of tea and wine involved as well. All in all, an adventure worth sticking around for.

A Pirate's Life for Tea is the second book in the Tomes & Tea series by Rebecca Thorne and I loved it! This is the sequel to Can't Spell Treason Without Tea and it absolutely holds up. As if the first book wasn't good enough, the second installment really upped its game with all of the high seas travel and laugh out loud worthy piracy puns. We get to see familiar and beloved characters Kianthe and Reyna back in action again. We also get even more sapphic characters, with a bonus because one is a pirate and who doesn't love pirates! The plot was engaging and fast paced. The world was just as beautiful as I remember. The audiobook was done really well. Jessica Threet did a wonderful job at interpreting the characters emotions and bringing them to life. This is a must read if you're a fan of pirate puns, sapphic romance, or cozy fantasy.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

I hadn’t read the first book in this series, I wish I had but I still really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet cozy queer romantasy book. Imma go read the other book very soon.

Kianthe and Reyna are back: in this second book of the series, they leave the cozy small town lives they built in the first novel, and join efforts with new companions on a pirate adventure. Readers will want to read the first book before starting this, as the background and world building set up is not repeated in this sequel. Will the duo's new pirate antics eventually cross paths with those missing dragon eggs from the first book?

I liked this entry in the series better than the first: the plot is still cozy, but also contains higher stakes and is more exciting as the pirate storyline adds an extra element of fun action and new found family characters to enjoy.

While the new characters have their own distinctive characteristics, I still found them all quite stereotypical and much of the relationship content flat and predictable. Sometimes I questioned characters motives, and at other times the “telling not showing” was very evident. The author does write clear and vivid descriptions, and injects humour and heartwarming moments throughout. The narrator does a good job translating this humour with emotiveness, using accents to distinguish the speakers - which I initially found annoying while listening to the first book but I found this sequel easier to enjoy.

Overall, the writing is clear and descriptive, making this an accessible series for many readers looking for the familiarity of cozy fantasy tropes combined with cute sapphic romantic plot lines, and I do think those who like the romantasy genre will appreciate this series.

(The audiobook I listened to had a spicey short story at the end.)

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is one adventure that you want to set sail on. There’s action, romance, PIRATES, and all the puns you could ever want. A great follow-up to “Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea” and looking forward to more books within this world. The characters are absolutely delightful and I especially love how much trust they have in one another to do the right thing to save their friends.

Our favorite couple had a swashbuckling adventure, and it was just as entertaining as the first one! I did notice that this one wasn’t as cozy as the first, but A Pirates Life for Tea definitely made up for it with its charming side characters. The audiobook was fantastic, and the narrator did an amazing job bringing all the characters to life. I can’t wait for the third installment in this series!

Thanks a bunch to Net Galley, Rebecca Thorne, and Macmillan Audio for sending me an audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

The sequel to book 1 was quite well done! I think I almost liked it better in some ways. There are still the very cheesy jokes and lines from the first one, but it also piqued my interest and curiosity at times. This still feels higher stakes than I would deem ‘cozy’ (as was my issue with book 1), however, I do feel like it was a great plot and the characters really grew throughout.

The audiobook was really well put together! I usually like more narrators for each POV but this one did a good job at not needing it and making each voice feel distinct. It added to the listening experience positively!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance listener copy in exchange for my review.

Thank you so much to Macmillan Audio for the ALC of this book.

I absolutely adored Can't Spell Treason Without Tea, so when I saw A Pirate's Life come up on NetGalley, I had to request it and I'm so glad I did. I adore Reyna and Kianthe and was excited to continue their quest to find the dragon eggs with them. I loved the new editions to the cast in Bobbie and Serina and how all the elements that made Treason so cozy and hilarious were still present in the sequel. Rebecca Thorne is definitely on the verge of becoming one of my auto buy authors.

My only complaint with the audio is that sometimes there just wasn't enough differentiation between characters, but other than that it was pretty spot on.

This was an enjoyable sequel and while I liked the new characters introduced in this book, I just love Reyna and Kianthe. Their next adventure takes them to hunt down the promised dragon egg - but they require the help of many others, including Bobbie and Serina, who are currently pitted against each other and have quite the past.

I know there’s been a lot of talk about this series being mislabeled as “cozy” but between the narrator, the writing, and the rather low stakes (I mean yes, some risk of death is there), it felt cozy to me.

And wow, that epilogue was STEAMY.

Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an ALC in exchange for my honest review! Absolutely looking forward to book 3.

Kianthe and Reyna are back and they’re engaged! While searching for dragon eggs that have been stolen, new friends are made and we get to know Serina. We are also introduced to Bobbie who has a past with one of these ladies which makes things interesting! Serina is a pirate with the mindset of stealing from the rich to feed the poor.

There are so many fun and cute moments in this book, it always feels like a cozy read! I don’t know that it falls completely into the cozy category since there are times where takes are a bit higher, but to me it’s cozy. I love the characters and all of the fun little quirks, this is such a cute read!

This audiobook was narrated by Jessica Threet. She’s done amazing with this series so far!

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Rebecca Thorne, and Macmillan Audio for providing this free ARC. This is my honest review. This publishes today on October 1st!

I have posted my review on Goodreads, my Facebook book club, and will make a TikTok to post before the pub date raving about this book!

I loved this book! Watching Reyna and Kianthe grow as a couple was really nice, and I loved the new characters. I do wish I got more time with the characters in town, as that’s kind of the charm of a cozy series (to me, anyway). Still, the addition of Bobbie, Serina and the crew was definitely interesting and I loved how the story progressed.

The Story picks up shortly after the first book and major plot points come from there, so this is definitely a series you should read in order. It gave a lot of the same warm, fun vibes as the first book with just more stuff going on. We had drunk shenanigans, pirate shenanigans, sexy schenanigans… all the shenanigans. I am interested to see what book three (Tea You at the Altar, coming out next year) will bring to the table. I would like to see more recurring characters.

The different aspects of the plot- the search for the eggs, the fight against the tyrany of the Diarn, the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story line between two oposing views… it made for a little bit of chaos, but it was well written and easy to follow. I liked that we had multiple narratives to help us get a better feel for the characters. Bobbie is definitely a favorite of mine. For me, this is a five star book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 5 out of 5.
As far as adult content goes, there’s quite a bit more than book one- cursing, drinking, sexual content (mostly allusions to, but one large sex scene at the end that they warn you about- it has nothing to do with the story and can be skipped if you don’t like that. I thought it was well done), and violence. I would say that this is geared towards adults, young adults maybe.

I was lucky enought to recieve an early edition from Netgalley working with Macmillan Audio in exchange for an honest review. My thanks!

A Pirate's Life for Tea is the second book in Rebecca Thorne's Tomes and Tea series. Kianthe and Reyna find themselves involved in another adventure. This time they are on a mission to find dragon eggs to save their town. During this journey they come across a pirate named Serina that is being chased by a very by the book constable, Bobbie. It soon becomes clear that Serina and Bobbie have a past.

I had just as much fun with book two of this series as I did with the first. I was so glad that Kith and Reyna were still a large part of the story. I love their relationship and adventures. Bobbie and Serina were such a great addition. This was a little less cozy than the first book but I personally enjoyed the higher stakes. The story and relationships are so engaging. Jessica Threet is really excellent as the narrator.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.
