A wonderful good book on how to use the nature of astrology for self reflection, healing, and psychological counseling. I do wish there was a bit more about how diverse the field of astrology is, but otherwise it is a good book for skeptics and newcommers alike.

This helped me learn so much about astrology. I've always been curious and wanting to learn but unsure of where to even begin but this was so useful and I'll definitely be picking up a copy!

This book was very interesting and fun to read. I have been wanting to learn more about astrology and this book was a great place to start. I loved how the author laid every out very clearly and gradually built from talking about the planets and the houses to astrological signs. The title also totally hooked me and I anticipate it will have a similar effect on many other readers!

An excellent introduction to astrology and deep dive into a couple of esoteric astrology topics. I found the explanations and examples engaging and easy to follow. Would recommend this to anyone on an astrology journey - beginners will find Debra Silverman to be a helpful guide and more experienced practitioners will be intrigued by the interesting questions she poses. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the eARC.

Silverman is a popular astrology teacher, I follow her on social media and have participated in online workshops. I might have found the voice in the book a little too breezy if I wasn't already familiar with the author. Instead, I appreciate the excellent job she and her coauthor have done capturing the essence of Silverman's delivery.

While I Don't Believe in Astrology contains a good overview of astrology, it really shines during the in-depth exploration of the rising sign and influence of Saturn. This is also the first time I have delved as deeply into Mercury which I found particularly fascinating. And of course I loved Silverman's no-nonsense yet compassionate way of explaining the strengths and struggles of our shared humanity. I am still not completely sold on the idea that my birth chart accurately reflects my lived experience, but I find a great deal of the information helpful in working towards building communities of care. Understanding differences, respecting differences, figuring out that these individual differences build a stronger whole are difficult lessons for me and I am grateful for teachers like Silverman who take the time to share their experience and insight.

Debra Silverman managed to find a unique niche for an astrology book. She talks in plain language, she is easy to understand, but she gives us the path to gain insight. I highly recommend

I Don't Believe in Astrology by Debra Silverman offers a refreshingly skeptical yet insightful take on the world of astrology. Silverman, a seasoned astrologer, presents a thoughtful blend of personal anecdotes, astrological theory, and practical wisdom, aiming to demystify astrology while still respecting its cultural and psychological value. She blends humor with her no-nonsense approach, making the book accessible for both skeptics and believers. Silverman uses astrology not as a tool for prediction, but as a way to better understand oneself and others. Whether you're a curious skeptic or a seasoned astrology enthusiast, I Don’t Believe in Astrology provides a grounded and engaging perspective on how to use astrology for self-awareness and personal growth.

Debra Silverman’s I Don’t Believe in Astrology is a refreshing take on astrology that welcomes even the skeptics. The book invites readers to explore whether there’s a place for astrology in personal growth without requiring a leap of faith. Silverman’s approach blends astrology with psychology to address common life questions: Am I fulfilling my purpose? Am I on the right path? She helps readers unpack these uncertainties through a framework of the four elements—earth, air, water, and fire—which she believes represent different facets of human nature.

Rather than portraying astrology as fate, Silverman presents it as a tool for understanding our tendencies and navigating our lives with compassion and clarity. She walks readers through recognizing their core element and seeing how it shapes their worldview, offering self-acceptance as a central theme. Her writing invites readers to release judgment and embrace even their most challenging traits. There’s a focus on self-love that feels authentic and practical, using astrology as a supportive guide rather than an absolute rulebook.

With 304 pages, I Don’t Believe in Astrology is rich in both information and introspective exercises that make it an engaging read, especially for those intrigued by astrology or psychology’s role in self-discovery. Whether you’re a die-hard astrology fan or a curious skeptic, this guide offers an inviting blend of introspection, compassion, and acceptance. I highly recommend this amazing guide to astrology!

Thank you to NetGalley, Debra Silverman, and St. Martin's Press for the eARC of this book.

This was an interesting introductory text to astrology, but the author’s tone/writing style just weren’t really for me. Decent information overall, and pretty accessible!

Usually there isn’t much new info that I haven’t come across in astrology books. This book took a new approach that brought up quite a bit of new insights. I liked the way the information was presented and felt it highlighted a unique approach to viewing charts. Definitely worth the read for anyone interested in astrology wanting a new spin on chart interpretation. 4.5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

I Don’t Believe in Astrology by Debra Silverman offers an interesting perspective on astrology with a personal touch, blending insights with the author’s own experiences. While there are thought-provoking ideas and an accessible approach to astrological concepts, the book sometimes felt a bit repetitive, and certain sections could have gone deeper. It’s a good introduction for readers curious about astrology, especially those who may be on the fence about its value. Silverman’s style is friendly and conversational, which makes it easy to follow, though it may not fully satisfy those looking for an in-depth dive.

As someone with a stellium in Scorpio (sun, moon, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Neptune & MC) opposed by a lonely retrograde Saturn in Taurus I am always looking for info on how to best fulfill my life purpose - and this book provided so many tools for me! I especially appreciated the information on the principles of Saturn… I’d love to know how it applies to retrograde Saturn and will research more on my own.

Thank you to Debra Silverman, the publisher St. Martin’s Essentials, and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy for review. I appreciate it very much!

I enjoyed reading the book. I am into astrology and the book was very thought-provoking, especially learning about the psychology of each sign. I also enjoyed learning about the Psychology of Pisces because that is my sign! I also feel like if you are not into it, this book will change your perspective!

As someone who’s always been interested in astrology, I found this book fascinating in its thoroughness. It covers every zodiac sign in detail, which could help you understand your friends and loved ones on a deeper level. However, I found it interesting that as I was reading through the section on Leo—my own sign—I didn’t resonate with much of what was said. Despite that, the book offers great insights into the traits and personalities of each sign, making it an intriguing read for astrology enthusiasts.

I loved this! The amount of highlights & notes on my kindle is extraordinary lol. This book was so helpful in understanding myself and my purpose. I felt like it was the perfect mix of astrology and therapy all in one. I learned a lot more about Mercury & Saturn which was so interesting. I feel like most astrology books just focus on either one of the sun, moon, and rising signs or all three, but they don't dive into other signs/planets. I also really enjoyed reading about Pluto! My goodness we are in for such a huge shift.

I Don't Believe in Astrology Debra Silverman. Very interesting and informative book on Astrology and how the astrological signs influence one's day to day life. Especially appreciated the detailed explanations on Mercury Rising and how it can impact the different Zodiac signs. The print book would be an excellent resource in learning more about how astrology and psychology can work together to understand human nature in ourselves and others.

A fun and interesting read for those who enjoy astrology, are mildly interested, or more skeptical (like me). I still don't know if I'm a full believer, but it was interesting to read through all the details about astrology and go beyond the typical sun sign horoscopes that are ubiquitous in society.
I've already recommended the book to a friend who loves astrology because I think she will enjoy the deep dive into all the plants and houses and how they work together.

thanks to the publisher for the eARC. All opinions are my own.
