In this novella, the youngest generation of Colby's must come together to resolve a kidnapping and ransom situation that is all too personal. I didn't know about the Colby Agency series from this author, so I was happy to learn that this is an extensive series of standalones.
In A Colby Christmas Rescue, Jamie Colby must use all of her skills to figure out just what's going on, and how they will navigate the roadblocks that get thrown in her way. Her brother is in danger and she is key to releasing him. There's a bit of romance between Jamie and her partner that makes it interesting, and of the other key characters also has history with Jamie.
I enjoyed this novella. It moves along nicely and handles some contingency situations beautifully with just the right touch of tension.
A Colby Christmas Rescue by Debra Webb had me enthralled with the story and characters. The storyline really makes you think; what would you do in their situation. Even when I had to put the book down I was still thinking about it.
Jamie was a great character and I would really like to see more adventures with her and Kendrick. I loved that she trusted him even when she didnt understand some of his decisions.
I highly recommend this mystery. The only thing that would have made it better was a little more romance :)
I am new to the Colby Agency series but I immediately started researching the other books in the series. Now I have to decide how far back do I start :). Victoria was a great character and I really want her story. I will definitely be reading this series as A Colby Christmas Rescue was just book one in the Next Generation series.
This new series gives the readers a look at the “Next Generation” of the Colby investigators. This one belongs to Jamie Colby as she rescues her brother Luke from kidnappers. She and co-worker Kendrick Poe face the danger and the obstacles. Who is pulling the strings in the kidnapping?
Action packed , and filled of many twists and turns, this is a good introduction to the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley and Harlequin. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Not my favorite Debra Webb book.
I felt like the whole plot was ridiculous and contrived. I get that the family is skilled at spy craft and are fixers, but when the grandson is taken hostage, the grand daughter is sent to recover him and the grandparents stay home and decorate for Christmas?
There was some suspense, no romance at all beyond Jamie’s thoughts about Kenny and their one kiss. It did move fast and I kept waiting for something exciting to happen, it just never gelled for me.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
I enjoy long-running series, and it is even better when the author keeps the series going with the children/grandchildren of the original characters. This is the first book in a new series involving the grandchildren of Victoria Colby-Camp, and it bodes well for the rest of the series.
Jamie Colby is an excellent agent in her own right. She's just finishing up a mission with her partner, Kenny Poe when she receives an urgent call from her grandmother. Jamie's brother Luke has been kidnapped to use as a hostage. The kidnappers need Jamie's skills, but she isn't happy with what she must do to fulfill the requirements. She and her partner, Kenny, have worked together for several years and are good friends.
There isn't much romance in this story. It is evident from the start that Kenny has feelings for Jamie but doesn't want to wreck their friendship by saying anything. He is protective of her but respects her abilities as an agent. It wasn't until the end that I got a good read on Jamie's feelings for him. This was a friends-to-more story, though I never saw much heat between them. I liked the ending and the easy shift into a couple.
The suspense was terrific. Matters quickly become complicated when the kidnapper's contact is a man Jamie has worked with before. It is difficult to tell whether he is working with them or against them, and there were times I wanted them to tie him up and leave him in a closet. Interference from a third party adds a layer of intensity when Jamie and a young girl are kidnapped themselves. Some tense moments ensued, but Jamie and Kenny could complete their mission. After all the build-up, I found it somewhat anti-climactic, but it kept my attention to the end.
I liked the twist at the end regarding Jamie's future. It will be interesting to follow her progress in later books.
A Colby Christmas Rescue by Debra Webb' this is a new series that is a spin off of The Colby Agency and brings us the next generation of the family to fall in love with. I always find this author's books very good reads, and this one did not disappoint. Jamie and her partner Poe race to save her brother from a kidnapper, but what they are expected to do isn't exactly legal. I would certainly recommend this book to others.
I received and ARC from NetGalley and the publisher Harlequin, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.
The Colby family is legendary and now the next generation is taking the limelight with her granddaughter Jamie. Jamie is a special agent and has excellent skills. sShe and her partner are being called in on a family emergency just before Christmas. The two work with a former colleague of Jamie's who isn't exactly known for following the rules. This case is close to home and the ultimate price could mean death. They are working with only some information doled out sparingly but expected to pull off a crime and escape unscathed and not arrested. It's frustrating for them all and with twists and turns and the life of loved ones in the balance they have no choice but to try. I enjoyed this book and really like the main character its another winner for Debra Webb and will be watching for the sequels. Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin -Romance I do recommend this read.
This was so good and I would expect nothing less from Debra. It made me want to go back and read the original series but I don’t know if I will. Loved the character Jamie in this one and can’t wait to read more from this series!
It’s almost Christmas and Victoria is worried about her son’s wife Tasha. They are in Sweden as Tasha’s diagnosis for a rare type of cancer is being the reason they’ve traveled so far. As if that is not worrisome enough, Victoria receives a terrifying phone call from her grandson Luke. Apparently Luke has been kidnapped and there is a ransom of $10 million demanded. Victoria and her husband Lucas begin gathering as many as her team as possible to try and trace the call.
Jamie Colby is Victoria’ granddaughter, one of twelve with the elite International Operations Agency, and she will no doubt be instrumental in saving Luke. The Christmas season is very dark indeed for the Colby family. Kenny Poe works alongside Jamie while they are attempting to rescue Luke. With the addition of another character named Abi, the puzzles in this book have been made difficult to decipher.
Although this series is preceded by the long-running Colby Agency series, now there is a new generation. This and all the books are written as standalone novels. I may have missed the first series, but now having the opportunity to read this first book, I hope to visit with the Colby family again.
Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
I liked the characters and the story, plenty of suspense to keep you interested. The book is part of a series but could easily be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
A Colby Christmas Rescue by Debra Webb
I didn't realize that this was part of a larger series when I decided to read it. I have not read any of the prior Colby books. Thankfully, the story was standalone and plenty of explanation was provided as to who all of the characters were.
I have read a handfull of series by Debra Webb, and this came across as more whimsical and light than those.
The story is fast paced and at times a bit chaotic.
Overall, great book. Fitting for the holiday season.

Debra Webb has another winner with A Colby Christmas Rescue! Plenty of action and teamwork one would expect from the Colby Agency! This book is the story of Victoria’s granddaughter Jamie and her friend Kenny. An easy read and Colby Agency fans won’t be disappointed!
Liked the suspense part but there was literally no romance and for me, I need an equal amount of both to be invested.
I’m a fan of Debra Webb and her single title thrillers. Her books are well written and her characters so real I feel like I know them. Her plots are always well drawn and her pacing keeps the story moving. I’ve never been disappointed.
Webb’s early career began with Harlequin. The Colby Agency series is her longest running. Out of curiosity, I decided to read her upcoming short novel, A Colby Christmas Rescue. The book can be read as a stand alone, so I was able to delve right in. The author’s writing skills shine, the characters are realistic, and the story is fast paced. Readers who like Romantic Suspense might enjoy this holiday tale and the Colby series too.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin books for providing Bayside Book Reviews an advance copy of this book to read and review. Follow us! *NetGalley Top Reviewer*
I haven't read a Colby Agency Intrigue in so long, so I was super excited to see the new generation begin! As always, Deb did not let me down with this wonderful story of family, dedication, deceit, and the idea that everyone deserves the same treatment regardless of their means. This was a more unusual Intrigue where the romance was rather nonexistent, but you were too busy trying to figure out the twisting ups and downs of the mystery and why Jamie's brother had been kidnapped, why they wanted Jamie to kidnap the doctor, and who it was behind it all. So well done, and the joyful holiday celebration with Victoria at the end was all we needed to read to know this new generation will have the Colby Agency well in hand.
I loved Jamie and Poe. The storyline was very mysterious with lots of intrigue.Jamie is a very interesting character. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her and Poe. Some Christmas joy was sprinkled in here and there along with a lovely Christmas ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
