This was such a great book, a real go to for parents new and old. I really liked that the author was able to explain in a really friendly and non judgemental way, practical techniques to enable any parent to learn how to support their child. I really found some great new skills from the very first few pages and I would recommend this book to any parent who wants to learn how to help nurture their child

I enjoyed how this book encourages the parents to do work, ask themselves questions, and look at not only their present but their past. As a parent to a toddler, I also appreciated the encouragement the author gave parents and reminding us it's okay to not be perfect!

I gave four stars because the book is pretty repetitive at times which can be tedious.

This book is a recommended read for every parent. It takes a nonjudgmental approach to teaching parents how to connect with their children and help them develop into adults that are physically and emotionally healthy and happy. My favourite quotation is “Children are always reflecting back to us how they experience us – our moods, tone of voice, words, behaviors, and gestures – and what your child reflects back to you provides opportunities for your inner growth.” The book encourages parents to do some work of their own in order to be good role models. I love that the book even helps parents identify their children’s different personalities and the parenting approaches that may be helpful for their individual personality styles. Highly recommend this book! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this ARC. I chose it because I wanted to improve my connections with my kids. All opinions are my own.

Firstly, this is a gorgeous book to look at, very visually appealing. It would definitely catch my eye in a bookshop and make me look at it, so that’s a positive!

I think this parent help book is good. It’s well structured and has useful information within it. I am a parent to a toddler and the parenthood life is not for the faint of heart! Any thing I can read to help and guide me through is welcomed. There were aspects that I found very helpful and some which were repetitive and similar to other books on the market. The gentle/respectful parenting movement is so popular and ‘of the moment’ that I think the author can be forgiven for including repeating ideas - the ideas are just commonly shared and practiced. I will keep the book to refer to the parts I found helpful or will find helpful in the future and would recommend to others.

This book was very insightful, funny, and triggered emotions in me. Parenting is hard.

Really useful book giving parents bite sized, manageable advice on how to raise happy healthy children and the importance of parents mental well being and how that impacts on raising children. Very insightful thank you

This parenting book is a refreshing perspective on what I have come to know as 'respectful parenting'. It talks through honoring your child as the individual that they are while preserving their childhood and giving them space and guidance to become a well rounded and happy adult.

This book was well written and simple. It was very straightforward and consise, which I liked. I have read a lot of parenting books over the years and so I found most of the information in here the same as what I’ve read before. Nothing new. But good reminders. It would be good for someone who has never read a parenting book before.

3.5 stars

Big thanks to the author and publisher for sending me an advance copy.

This book was a quick read and jam-packed with info on how to nurture your child. As a working mom, slowing down is tough for me, but the book really made me think about it. While it covers some of the same tips as other parenting books, it also has unique advice and reminders that I haven’t seen elsewhere. I loved the tips on the four temperaments and foundational senses, definitely a fresh perspective. I highlighted so many things and will definitely revisit it as a reminder.

That said, there were some parts that felt repetitive, and I didn’t think the story or rhyme examples added much. But overall, it’s got some great insights.

I feel fortunate to have come across this book; it has the right mindset and values at its core.
As the title suggests, this book is not vain glorifying itself. It is a little book of parenting.
It is not short or it is not too long; it is just an ideal length of rich information and tips.
Nearly till the halfway, the way Kunz approached parenting and the way she approached giving advice about parenting felt entirely fresh, warm and sensible. I thought to myself, ‘a perfect and non-condescending parenting book by a non-famous/not-yet-so-famous author? amazing”. Of course there were a few minor points that I did not approach as scientific facts, but I was thinking this book could be nearly perfect. I approach the four temperaments as an outdated and limited theory. I understand the appeal, however I do not consider it a useful theory.
The suggested blessings in this book are rather non-religious in focus, which I liked. I loved the wonderful recap of some of the existing best practices and theories, and I found some of the especially earlier suggestions (and the later Seasonal Table) to be very tender, useful and meditative. The structure and the design of the book are ideal, and more than all, I loved Tunz’ tone. There was a right balance of caring for oneself as a person/parent and setting boundaries, and giving your child the love they deserve. More challenging situations and neurodiversity are also addressed a bit, but I am not expecting them to be a large chunk of such a little parenting book anyways. I would be happy to read science and evidence, practice and experience based, nuanced and tender insights on different aspects of parenting, topics involving childhood and children, education and specific topics around neurodiversity and parenting/childhood by the same author. She has a knack for showing the heart of parenting.
