If you like sweet and sticky then this is a cosy for you!
Maggie, a tarot reader and angel whisperer and Mac, a biker and motorclub member, meet by accident. After a few casual dates they start afresh in Glastonbury.
We follow Maggie reading cards at the tea room and Mac hustling for the gang, and them spending their evenings together. All good fun, yet seeing these opposites attract this quick didn't feel believable.
The story moves from Stonehenge and Glastonbury to Glasgow and back, from heavy woo woo Maggie to laid back sweetheart Mac. From talking to angels to saving victims from human traffickers. Too much going on and on. I found myself skipping pages regularly and still not missing the tread of the story. It's well crafted but also long winded and jumping from reality to imaginary continously.
Eventually an unforseen event almost leaves me breathless, but the situation resolves itself quickly a few pages later and soon after that the book ends.
A slightly confusing but overall fun read.
Thank you Netgalley and Melody R. Green for the ARC.
This is not the right book for me. I got stuck on the clunky dialogue less than 5% of the way in, and then again on the clunky plot devices a little further on. I was particularly displeased with the introduction than an angel got to decide to be human and swapped in for a human soul, but then would become that person they were swapped into? So he wasn't still himself? I think? At this point, why have them swap into a soul and not just make the angel a body with a mysterious background? Overall, I could not get past these issues and gave up on the book.
In The Pendragon Tea Rooms, Maggie McCready journeys to the mystical landscapes of Stonehenge and Glastonbury, summoned by Pendragon to save the Dragon Queen of Avalon from dark forces. Without her usual ally, Archangel Michael, Maggie faces a precarious balance between the supernatural and the gritty reality of drug and sex trafficking, while also navigating a complicated romance with a shadowy Scottish biker. The book's intricate blend of magic, danger, and personal conflict kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved how Maggie’s resilience and tarot wisdom illuminated the story, making it a wonderfully entertaining read.
Hold onto your tarot cards because The Pendragon Tea Rooms is a wild ride through magic and mayhem! 🃏 Maggie McCready finds herself at the heart of Britannia’s most mystical sites, battling dark forces and a not-so-honorable Scottish biker while searching for her missing Archangel sidekick. This book is a spellbinding blend of romance, danger, and the supernatural, with twists and turns that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. If you love a good magical adventure with a touch of romance and danger, this one's a great read! ✨
Wow! I went in with no expectations for this book. I have never read any of the previous books in this series. I thought the cover looked gorgeous and the description sounded interesting. However, I was so pleasantly surprised by this book. This story was so unlike anything I have read before. I felt there was a good pace to it, nothing ever felt repetitive, I didn't know what to expect from one chapter to the next.
What a beautiful story, heartbreaking and hopeful all at once. I really enjoyed the supernatural aspect, I loved the characters and I loved that even though there were so many shocks and unexpected events, the story flowed so nicely that I never felt anxious. This was a supernatural cosy read full of love and warmth.
