ALC Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Disgraced actress, Presley James, flees to the small Florida island of Sunset Harbor in an effort to escape media backlash. After fifteen years of non stop working, she is desperate for some downtime.

Briggs is forced to return home with his tail between his legs. The failure of his start up company has left him directionless and penniless. With no clear path forward he reluctantly agrees to work in his family bookstore for room and board.

After a brief encounter the pair form an unlikely friendship. Desperate to stay out of the spotlight the two begin meeting in secrecy. Will they be able to help each other weather the storms, or will they finally learn people cannot be trusted?

Becky Monson’s One Happy Summer is the sixth book in the Falling for Summer series. This is a multi- author, interconnected series that features character crossovers. While the books do not have to be read in order, the authors highly recommend reading all seven books.

I had the privilege of listening to this as an audiobook. With this story being told through dual POV (Presley/ Briggs) it was only fitting that two voice actors narrated. While I did enjoy my time listening to the story I connected more with Abigail Reno’s portions than I did Ryan Stone’s.

As a fan of the romantic comedy I enjoyed this book for several reasons. First, it is a great romcom on its own. Second, Monson makes reference to the popular movie, Notting Hill throughout the entire story. I loved spotting all of the references and how it perfectly tied in with this story.

I recommend listening to this book if you enjoy:
-found family
-summer bucket list
-secret relationships
-friends to more
-opposites attract

Special thanks to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and Becky Monson for allowing me to listen to this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This story is a fine take on a Nottinghill retelling, however it does not fit well with the rest of the series. Perhaps if I had read them in a different order it would be another author who's rating suffered over the inconsistencies, but I've read all of the books in this series now and this one stands out as not quite fitting the setting created by the other authors. The other characters don't make appearances the same way they do in the other books and it just generally felt like the author had a story ready to go and slotted it in rather than actually working on this group project together with her fellow authors, I was also disappointed by an ending that stuck too strongly to its Nottinghill inspiration without showing any actual growth for the female lead. True love is not a replacement for therapy.

This book, part of the Falling For Summer series, is a charming addition to the collection of seven contemporary romcoms, each penned by a different author. Set on the idyllic fictional island of Summer Harbor, each story is a standalone, but they share interconnected characters who make appearances across the series. The plot centers around a former A-list star escaping to Summer Harbor, and I loved the celebrity angle—it felt fresh and engaging. Fans of Notting Hill will appreciate the numerous references.

I listened to the audiobook version, which features dual point-of-view narration. The narrators did a commendable job bringing the characters to life, though there were moments when their voices didn’t quite mesh, making it tricky to picture them as a couple. That said, their individual performances were strong, and they captured the tone and emotions effectively.

Overall, the book delivers a delightful, feel-good experience. With its sunny island setting and engaging, slow-burn romance, it's perfect for anyone seeking an escape into a summery, lighthearted love story. A big thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for providing a complimentary copy—I'm glad to share my honest review and look forward to reading more from this author!

Presley and Briggs’s story is a sweet, swoony bit of summer romance perfect for a cool fall day when you’re wishing for the heat of summer. I’ve read all the other books in the Falling for Summer series and enjoyed them all to varying degrees. I’d seen snippets of Presley in some of the other books and wondered when I’d get to read her story. This is definitely the most standalone book out of the entire series, so if you haven’t read the rest, you’re not going to be completely in the dark if you pick this one up.

I enjoyed the nods to Notting Hill and it made me want to watch the movie after. Briggs is so sweet and caring – I loved his relationship with his sister and mom, in addition to how he cared for Presley. Briggs’ attempts to get Presley “one happy summer” were really fun and just what she needed. I loved how he grounded her. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrators as well. They really brought the book to life. Some of the better narrators I’ve heard lately in audiobooks. If you’re looking for a sweet, entertaining summer romance book with swoony kisses but no explicit content, this one fits the bill!

First of all, thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review an ARC of this book. Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances I was unable to download and review this book on time. That said, I have since purchased this book and have read it, there fore would still love to complete this review.

I ended up getting the entire series on my kindle, so unfortunately cannot comment on the narration of this audiobook

I thought this book as okay, There were some cute moments and I found it enjoyable to read. I did read it first, and after finishing I wish that I had read the series in order so not to spoil some of the other characters in the series.

While it wasn’t my favorite of the series, this one was still pretty good. I love the island and the charm that comes with it so much that I don’t think one could be bad. It did feel like this one was a little disconnected from the rest of them but I liked all of the subtle things that helped tie them to each other. A cute romance and I loved the MMCs family too, they made it even better.

⭐️ 3/5
🎧 4/5

📚 The story felt like it was lacking 'oomf'.... there a lack of warm, connection and heart in this. I don't know if I can describe it any better. It just felt like a story rather than any emotions being conveyed 🤷‍♀️ I am a mood reader and normal have some reactions when characters go through things, but not this time, sorry.

🎧 The audiobook was good. The quality and production was done well and made for a pleasant experience.

🎙 The narrators were also good and they both gave their characters warmth.

I personally did not really feel much for this book, and don't see myself reading or listening to it again.

One Happy Summer is a super sweet romance in the Summer series. It's heavy on the soft and sweet, less humor than the others. I enjoyed it, and I really liked the audiobook narrated by Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone. It's not my favorite of the series but that's likely because I don't prefer celebrity stories, so take that with a grain of salt. I loooved how this story tied in other characters.

Audio arc from Dreamscape Media and NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I’m not the biggest fan of celebrities romance, but this one was really cute.
hope to read / listen other stories of the author

Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC of the book.

Presley is A-list celebrity that ran away from a scandal that mostly probably will destroy her career. As a hiding spot she chose Sunset Island but meeting Briggs might change her mind on summer plans.

This book is a part of the Falling Summer series, books were written by different closed-door romance authors but have connecting characters.
I enjoyed this audiobook, it was really cute and made me feel all the sun and small town vibes. The narrators Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone did an amazing job portraying characters and atmosphere. I’m looking forward to read other books in this series.

This series is my comfort book series now. I read each and every book and literally all the pairs made me feel as if I am not just a reader but a resident on this island too. The protagonists are amazing and wonderful, which made my reading experience so much better.
The author has beautifully penned down the plotline and character too. I again fell in love with the book of this series 🥰

Thanks to NetGalley for this audiobook arc.

I thought this book was just okay. Compared to the others in the series, this one wasn't my fav. It took my a while to get through. I think if you don't read the others in the series that you would enjoy this book just fine.

I have read six books in this series and they are all so cute and sweet! I really enjoy this town, the characters, and all the crossover. This is not my favorite from this series but it does set up nicely some other story lines from other books. Again, the character crossovers are my favorite parts and seeing how other stories are connected and where they fall in the timeline of events!

This funny, swoony and romantic summer read is book one of the Falling for Summer series. The series takes place in Sunset Harbor and each book features different residents of the small town island. The characters appear throughout the series, but each book can be read as a standalone. It is such a fun and unique series due to it being written by multiple authors and it takes a “connected series” to a whole new level of fabulous!

I do love a good celebrity romance! Even more so when the celebrity falls for a shy and nerdy guy. We also have a bookstore meet cute and who doesn’t love one of those. I enjoyed this story and loved that we got quick glimpses of the possible actress hiding out in Sunset Harbor in the other books in the series.

The narrators for this audio book are Abigail Reno who reads the role of our celebrity FMC Presley James and Ryan Stone who reads Felix Dalton our swoony book loving MMC. I enjoy a dual narration, and these narrators did it justice.

Things to enjoy:
☀️ Celebrity Romance
🏝️ Friends to more
☀️ Toe-curling kisses
🏝️ Notting Hill vibes
☀️ Witty banter
🏝️ Opposites attract

Quote: “I don't need to be America's Sweetheart anymore. That was a lot of pressure anyway. I’d settle for America's
quirky Cousin. Or maybe just the weird
"next-door neighbor? I could be America's
Kimmy Gibbler.”

Thank you to the author Becky Monson and Net Galley for the advanced listener copy of the audio book!

This is a cute rom com of the story of Presley and Briggs. Presley and Briggs fall in love while Presley is lying low in Sunset Harbor. The story was missing the extra pizzaz that makes a romance enthralling.

3⭐️ This one did not wow me like some of the others did in this series. It was just not great. I was very bored. The audiobook narrators did a good job don’t get me wrong, and honestly reading a physical copy probably wouldn’t have made a difference with my enjoyment of this book. So yay to the narrators!

I don’t know if it’s the authors writing or just the plot, but I was not impressed. It did not have the same vibe as the other books in this series.

The characters, Briggs and Presley, were fine, but they just didn’t make that cute adorable couple like the other books. I feel bad for comparing, but when the other ones are just so dang cute, it’s hard not to.

I think this book would have been better if they had more page time going on the fun summer outings. That was really supposed to be the whole plot ya know, but it just wasn’t at the same time. I wanted more, and it just fell flat. It was supposed to be Presley’s “One Happy Summer” and the fun outings were skipped over. Lost opportunity.

All I’m saying is that the other books were way cuter than this one, and I was bored.

*Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Becky Monson for the complimentary copy of this audiobook. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

⭐️ 5/5. This is book 6 of 7 of the Falling for Summer series, and all the books have been just great! This one has themes of:

🌺 Burnt out movie star

🌺 Town gossips

🌺 Found family

🌺 Just friends

🌺 Interconnected characters from the rest of the series

I know we’re into fall now, but I wanted to share my last summer-themed read! I will definitely be coming back to advocate this series to everyone when we’re in the middle of winter and wishing for a tropical paradise mindset 😂
