I LOVE celebrity romances and Becky Monson delivered such a fun one for the Falling for Summer series!
Briggs was just so stinkin adorable and lovable, his quirkiness was so endearing! Having America’s sweetheart, Presley James, fall for this kind of personality was absolutely delightful! The chemistry was off the charts between these two!
This book is the perfect beach read! The summer vibes were through the roof and every scene of the two of them was so much fun. Who knew all these simple summer activities could be so romantic too!?! I was swooning left and right!
I loved Brigg’s family and how the author incorporated them into the story. Briggs’s teenage sister was a fun addition and I liked her spunk!
I highly recommend finding out for yourself about this actress hiding out in Sunset Harbor. We only hear rumors about her or get quick glimpses of her in the other books in the series and she’s so lovable and you’re bound to fall for Briggs!
🔥: Kissing…lots of kissing!
CW: about a dozen Bible swears

This was such a fun, adorable read. I enjoyed it much more than I even expected I would. Both our MCs are so bashful and have their own issues standing in their way. They both shown a lot of growth and were super likeable.
I read this without reading the rest of the series, and wasn’t confused. I will absolutely be going back to read the remaining books in the series because I enjoyed this one so much.
The audiobook was well done, and added a level of higher enjoyment to the overall story. I really enjoyed the dual POV and the narration was great!
It you’re looking for opposites attracts, celebrity romance, friends to lovers, no spice, summer romance, small town/island romance this will absolutely be for you.
It’s quick, fun and enjoyable! Would def recommend.
"I just want a happy summer. I've never had one, not in my entire life, not since I was a kid and my parents divorced. And then not long after that, my summers became about filming sitcoms and movies, whatever my mom would sign me up for. I've never had an entire summer to myself to just...be."
"I, Presley James, solemnly swear to keep my lips and hands to myself this summer."

One of my favorite things about Becky Monson's books is her ability to pull you into a story right from the very first page, and this book in no exception!
I love Briggs and Presley together!!! I love how Presley jumps at the chance to experience a normal life. And Briggs...he is the sweetest! I love how he goes above and beyond figuring out ways to accomplish the things on Presley's summer bucket list while also trying to protect her privacy. Watching these two try to be "just friends", while knowing it wouldn't work, was so much fun. I love who they are together. They truly see each other and each bring out the best in the other.

I was lucky enough to get an opportunity to listen to the audiobook version of this book after reading it. The narrators did an awesome job. They completely captured the feel of the book. The emotions, wit, and charm of this story were fully on display in the engaging performances by Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone. If your preferred method of reading is audiobooks, this would be a credit well spent.
If you haven't started this series, I highly recommend it. Every single book has been delightful!
*Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
"I loved the pacing of this book. Briggs is such a sweetheart golden retriever with his shy, awkward ways. Presley just wants to find some normalcy in her life. The story was fun and entertaining and worth the read.
Becky Monson has Briggs swear using the H word more than 10 times in his narrative. It seemed out of place and distracting for his character. Even within the story, Presley mentions that it seems out of character for Briggs to swear. ""But Briggs curses. The word sounds foreign coming from his mouth, and I realize I haven’t heard him swear before."" This is ironic because, in that scene, Becky just describes that he swears and doesn't actually have the swear word on the page. This is why I gave it 4 stars.
Awesome Kissing scenes —and lots of it 😉—only and no further. No alcohol consumed only one small mention in one scene that it's there."

I'm happy to be back in Sunset Harbor for this sixth book in the multi-authored 'Falling for Summer' series. I've read -- well, listened-- to five of the seven books now and am really enjoying these summer romances.
FYI: I read them all out of order, so each book reads well as a standalone, but since all the romances are happening during the same summer, there are some fun cameos of heroes and heroines from previous stories. This one is the least interactive that way though, because of Presley's need to lay low so that no one knows where she's staying and I definitely missed being able to catch up with some of the characters I've grown attached to from previous books.
Briggs and Presley's meet-cute x 2 is all kinds of cringey and awkwardly funny. And I was kinda already swooning since he's a glasses wearing hero (Presley likes that too) but -- GASP -- he's actually not a reader despite the fact that he's running the island bookshop. I was crushed!
So, we have a heroine who is running away from a scandal and a hero who is regrouping after a business failure -- not exactly a solid foundation to build a relationship on but they just can't resist each other and there are some solid Notting Hill vibes to their love story.
As their friendship grows, Briggs orchestrates the kind of summer Presley has always dreamed about but never experienced. All the simple, playful staples of summery activities she missed out on as a kid. There's a 'poor little rich girl' air about Presley and I adored the gentle way Briggs went about making her feel seen and heard and accepted.
Of note: I was surprised by the occasional usage of mild language in this novel. It's sparse, but just not what I was expecting, or looking for in a 'clean' read. Also, some kissing scenes were a bit overly descriptive -- definitely fits the 'clean' category, but with a wee bit more detail than what I'm used to in this romantic sub-genre.
I listened to the audio edition -- loved the dual narration by Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone. Their voices suited the personalties of Briggs and Presley and their performance enhanced my enjoyment of 'One Happy Summer'.
My thanks to the author and Net Galley for providing me with an audio copy of this book.
Presley retreats to a secluded town to escape her high-profile life and the paparazzi and by happenstance meets Briggs, also in town to figure things out. I enjoyed their friends to lovers romance and the celebrity in a small town vibes, but wasn’t the biggest fan of the third act breakup (never really am, though). Overall a sweet and cute contemporary romance. I was pleased that this was a dual narration to match the first person, dual POV, the narrators did a good job with emotional prosody.
One Happy Summer is a standalone addition to the collaborational Falling for Summer series. This story features Sunset Harbor resident Briggs Dalton and hibernating actress Presley James.
Briggs has returned home after the collapse of his tech company in Ft. Lauderdale. Trying to figure out his next step, Briggs is running his mother’s bookstore and living in the frou-frou apartment above. His mother, Maryann McManus, is the widow of the late marina owner and his sister, Scout, is in high school, many years his junior. While Briggs is running the bookstore, both his mother and sister work there part time.
Box office draw Presley James is hiding out at the Belancourt resort after someone on set filmed and posted a video of her going ballistic over the nonsense of cast and crew after a particularly difficult day. Once the story gained momentum it was apparent that laying low would be her best option. But Presley is bored out of her mind staying secluded in a hotel room no matter how beautiful it is, making her take risks like walking to the bookstore to get something to fill her hours. What she finds, in addition to books, is a somewhat shy good looking man. And when that man not only is kind and funny but also keeps her identity secret and becomes her friend and confidant, the story takes off.
This delightful story tells how two people, damaged by circumstances, find each other in a most unusual way. With well drawn characters, a beachside setting, and a twisty plot, I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!
This is a cute celebrity comes to the island story. Presley James, an A List actress, needs a place to hide out after an embarrassing video is released. She comes to Sunset Harbor, staying at the Belacourt Resort. After a day or two confined to her room she is going stir crazy. She puts on a hoodie and sunglasses for a disguise and heads over to the island bookstore where she meets Briggs Dalton. This is when the adventure begins.
Presley has been in show biz since she was very young. She’s never had a normal childhood or done the common things that most kids experience. She’s hoping for one summer away from the chaos of stardom and hopes to experience one happy summer. Briggs is determined to help her, all while trying to stay under the radar of the paparazzi.
Briggs is the sweet, handsome, nerdy hero in this story. He’s trying to figure out his life and what he’s going to do next. He’s awkward and quirky and very intriguing to Presley.
You will enjoy their fun adventures as their friendship/relationship develops. There are a few swear words, but nothing major.
I really enjoyed this book. I love Becky Monson’s writing style. She hooks you in from the very beginning.
Well, I finally finished the Falling for Summer series and let me just say, it ended with a bang! One Happy Summer is a nod to the movie Knotting Hill and just as sweet. Briggs & Presley were so stinking cute and their relationship gave me all the feels.

Someone was videotaping when Pressley lost her temper, of course the video went viral. She headed to a Sunset Harbor Island to lay low until things cool down. She’s been sneaking around the island in a hoodie and sunglasses hoping no one will recognize her. She always seems to end up at the bookshop where a handsome man works. Pressley became an actress when she was a young teen. Her mother has controlled and pushed her all her life. You would expect Pressley to be the glamorous spoiled brat but she isn’t. After Brigg’s business goes belly up, he begins working in his mother’s bookstore. He knows little about books but it’s a job and it helps his mother. Briggs is determined to make this the best summer of Pressley’s life. His plan is for her to have a summer doing all the things she missed out on as a young teen. They make sandcastles, star gaze while lying on the beach, they make s’mores, have water fights and things teens enjoy.
The characters: I liked Briggs a lot; he was sweet and adorable. Pressley was sweet part of the time. Pressley’s mother was terrible. Brigg’s sister was a great character, maybe my favorite next to Briggs. This is a fun summer read.
Thank you NetGalley.

This book was pretty adorable. Of the three books I’ve read from this series, this one is definitely my favourite. I knew I wanted to read Briggs’ book just from the few mentions of him in the previous ones. I loved him! I loved his family and the support they gave Presley.
Presley and Briggs were so damn cute! I loved the summer list they created. The middle name guessing was my favourite part and I love how Presley eventually found out what it was. I do wish we got to see more of Presley standing up for herself to her mom and the steps she took to stop being pulled into the games of Hollywood.
I really enjoyed the audio. Both narrators did a fantastic job bringing this book to life.
Overall, this was just so cute and I highly recommend it.

Another great addition to a fun summer series! I loved the celebrity aspect of this one! Highly recommend
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audiobook of ‘One Happy Summer’ by Becky Monson. I absolutely loved how this book captures the charm of Southwest Florida! The story follows Presley, a famous and overworked actress who desperately needs a break from her high-pressure life. Her breaking point comes when she has a public meltdown that goes viral, leading her to disappear without a word to anyone.
Presley escapes to a secluded island off the coast of Florida, determined to take time for herself. With no one to rely on but her own company, she ventures into a local bookstore, where she unexpectedly meets the irresistibly charming Briggs Dalton. Despite her intention to lay low, Briggs is determined to make her summer unforgettable, encouraging her to check off items from her "bucket list" and rediscover the joy of life.
‘One Happy Summer’ is a delightful and heartwarming adventure filled with romance, self-discovery, and the beauty of an unexpected getaway. Dive in and enjoy this perfect read!
Such a great, beachy summer book. I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it. This whole series on a Florida Island has been enjoyable and this book is a great addition to it! Really liked reading about a Hollywood actress falling for a regular guy...such a great trope!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an opportunity to listen to an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Presley and Briggs are adorable!!! I loved all of the nods to the movie, Notting Hill. Makes me want to go and watch it now.
Darling storyline, great humor, secondary characters that will have you laughing and loving them, moments that will make your heart ache and feel put back together again! And scenes that will leave you sighing in contentment, and swooning from the chemistry and sheer adorableness of it all!!!
I loved this one a lot!!! I read part of it and then life went haywire busy. I just listened to the audiobook. It made my heart so happy and I could enjoy the whole story while I was busy with the many happenings of life. I've loved all of the books in this series that I've read so far and can't recommend them enough! You won't be sorry. Pick them all up or just read one, or two.
And whenever you read it or listen to it, just know that you're going to want to enjoy your summer doing all the fun childhood things! Just sayin'!!!
Content: Only some sweet kisses. A handful of bible swears throughout the book.
I purchased my own digital book and received a copy of the audiobook from Dreamscape Media, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
What a fun, sweet, and swoony celebrity romance book! One Happy Summer is book six in the Falling for Summer series and you can read each book as a stand alone novel. I, however, have been listening to the books in order, which I love!
I actually adore celebrity romance stories, but it has usually been the male main character who was the celebrity in the books that I have read. So, it was fun to have the female main character be a famous actress in hiding in this book. There have been rumors and sightings of the actress Presley James in the previous stories and it is finally time for her to find her happily ever after.
I loved that One Happy Summer had so much in common with the movie, Notting Hill, which is a favorite of mine. It isn’t exactly like it, of course, but there is enough in common that the characters joke with each other about the similarities, which I found so fun!
Briggs and Presley were simply perfect from each other, even though they lived in different worlds. I loved the way Briggs set up outings to give Presley a truly happy summer, even when the rest of her life was falling apart. The romantic chemistry between these two was amazing and I loved this book from start to finish.
I listened to the audio version of the novel and the narrators did such a wonderful job with both of the characters. It was a joy to listen to.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Absolutely adored One Happy Summer! It’s another fabulous addition to the Falling for Summer series. I loved this romantic celebrity romance with Notting Hill vibes. There were so many scenes that had me grinning from ear to ear.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this audio!
What a good book!! J absolutely loved the summer vibes of this book. Actress and nerd.. LOVE IT!! I finished this in one sitting and the narrator did great! I didn’t realize it’s part of a series soooo time to read those!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book just like I did all the others in this series. The romance was so sweet and fun! I adored Briggs and his nerdy charm. I love how their romance was straight out of a romantic movie! This was a fun and summery romance and I adored every second of it.
Thank you NetGally for an Arc of this audiobook :)
This was a solid story. I loved the plot and meet cute a lot. It wasnt my favorite execution however. There were a few plot points that had me confused and some just leaving my frustrated but over all, I’m happy I finished this :)
I love that this is another series of themed reads by all different authors, and I’m excited to give the other options a try!
