This is book six in the Falling for Summer multi-author series! Wish I would have known and I would read the ones before this book!
Briggs and Presley are just so cute.
She's a famous actress, taking a break from the limelight. He's back to his hometown after a failed startup and helping out in his mom's bookstore. He spills coffee on her and the rest is history.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to a complimentary copy of this book.
Title: One Happy Summer
By: Becky Monson
Pub. Date: September 3, 2024
Narration by: Abigail Reno; Ryan Stone
Genre: Fiction, Chick-lit, Women’s, Clean Romance
Trigger Warnings: None, Clean Romance
Summary/Review:
Presley has run away from the public eye, and escaped to Sunset Harbor. She had a mental breakdown, aka, celebrity explosion that has gone viral thanks to the paparazzi. She needs to relax, create space for herself and mentally unwind for the summer. Briggs is working in the bookshop for the summer after needing a break himself, when a woman enters. She looks so familiar, but he can’t place exactly who she is…so starts the slow burning romance between two people trying to start over and find adventure in life outside the limelight. This is my first read in the series and it didn’t disappoint. It gives classic hallmark vibes, all the feels goods, not much suspense, rather a perfect beach read!
*This was an audio read for me and the narrator did a wonderful job! Listened in one day, easy to follow along while cleaning.*

A celebrity dating romance where the FEMALE main character (FMC) is the famous one! The FMC escapes to a small, fictional town because she’s receiving bad publicity due to a negative moment of hers caught on video and shared over the media.
The MMC works at the town bookshop so there’s cozy and bookish vibes going on too. The romance was very sweet and there wasn’t a ton of miscommunication. The issues were dealt with maturely in my opinion.
I loved the story, it was so fun and I’m grateful to NetGalley for providing a copy for me to listen to.
⭐⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐/5, The Perfect Summer Escape! Thank you NetGalley & Becky for giving me the opportunity to listen to the audiobook!
I absolutely loved this book! It's the perfect blend of romance, tension, and adventure that kept me hooked from the very first page. The storyline of a former A-list star retreating to a secluded Florida island to escape the chaos of her life felt so real and relatable, and the chemistry between her and Briggs Dalton was electric! The slow burn romance, the witty banter, and the tender moments between them made my heart swoon.
The island setting is beautifully described, making it the perfect summer read. I could practically feel the sun on my skin and hear the waves as I followed the heroine on her journey of rediscovery. The balance between emotional tension and fun summer vibes was spot on, and the pacing kept me turning the pages, eager to see what would happen next.
If you're looking for a book that will whisk you away on a heartfelt, romantic adventure, this is it. Five stars, and I can't wait to recommend it to all my friends!
This is a delightful and heartwarming escape; a perfect summer read or anytime read if you want my opinion. Hollywood starlet Presley James is reeling from an embarrassing video, so she retreats to the small island of Sunset Harbor to hide from the paparazzi and her overbearing mother at the Belacourt Resort while waiting for social media to cool down. Sneaking out due to cabin fever, Presley meets Briggs Dalton at the town's charming bookstore, where he's working while figuring out his next move after his company start up failed.
When Briggs discovers that because Presley started her career at a young age, she hasn't ever had a happy summer. He's going to remedy that and decides to make this summer one of happy memories, so he puts together a to-do list of all the things she's never done: star gazing on the beach, making s'mores, building sandcastles and more.
One Happy Summer is full of fun banter, swoony kisses and the chemistry between Presley and Briggs will have you smiling. I love the shy, nerdy-tech vibe Briggs gives off and how he's able to get Presley to relax and be as normal as a celebrity can be while hiding out. "This is what I've needed. Someone to hold me, not tell me it's okay or that things will turn out fine. But just be with me."
This is a great addition to the Falling for Summer series. All the books take place on Sunset Harbor Island but each can be read as a standalone, but once you read one of them you're going to want to read the others! This book is a closed door romcom with some instances of mild swearing.
I received an audiobook from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley and loved the story more than when I read the book. I love that it has dual narrators, Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone. I really liked both of their voices and the way they brought Presley and Briggs to life. All opinions in this review are my own.
This book came onto my radar as part of the Falling for Summer series which I saw promoted on Instagram. Set in the small Floridian island town of Sunset Harbor, this closed door romance series combines multiple authors and tropes. Becky Monson’s installation combines megawatt actress Presley with former techie Briggs. Presley has an unflattering meltdown that forces her into hiding while Briggs is figuring out his next steps while working in a bookstore and living in his mother’s pink and purple fairy tale themed apartment. I would say this book has major Notting Hill vibe, but that would be an understatement… it essentially is Notting Hill and even is very self-aware of the stolen playbook. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Notting Hill, but I was irritated that this “retelling” was too much of a carbon copy and the moments of novel nuance were uninspired. Presley tipped the balance a bit more toward entitled over lovable. Still, I didn’t hate this book; it just felt rather run-of-the-mill standard romcom fare. I was grateful to receive an audiobook copy from NetGalley for review. I do look forward to reading more in this series.
Cute book. SLow burn. No Spice, but sweetness. Briggs was cute, but it was a little more saccharine than I normally like. I was hoping for more rom-com than closed door.
Briggs is just the cutest guy ever and I loved the way he handled Presley's fame and gave her a safe space away from the notoriety and paparazzi. Presley is so open to Briggs and his particular style of charm and the two of them are just adorable and perfect together. The audiobook is very well done and I really enjoyed listening to this sweet love story.
A really sweet meet-cute featuring an Island I'd love to visit and a summer I'd love to experience. The characters were great and the princess apartment was just over the top in the best way!
One of my favorite rom-coms is Notting Hill, so when this book started and there were all these similarities with the opening of the movie I was hooked. MC Presley also loves rom-coms and points out the similarities to love interest Briggs. I loved that Presley was a famous person just trying to go unseen for a while after experiencing typical human emotions. But because of her fame, they got blown way out of proportion. Briggs is her saving grace and helps her to feel normal for just a little while. As always I loved being back on Sunset Harbor with all the people I have gotten to know throughout this series!
4⭐, 0.75🌶️
WE FINALLY GOT PRESLEY! Her and Briggs story, like all other books in this series, was just heart warmingly adorable, and I loved the celebrity in hiding, friends to lovers romance! The growth both go through together was pretty dang cute, and the kissing was enough romance that felt more realistic and added to the romance. The modern references felt a tad too much, but over all I thought is was a sweet balance of reality and fiction.

3.5 rounded up!
I feel like this series is just one happy, warm-and-fuzzy feeling, giddy reads, and One Happy Summer was no different.
Briggs was a sweet character, and I loved the idea of checking off a summer bucket list.
Really fast-paced and light listen. The narrators were great for their respective characters.

I received an ARC of this audiobook from Netgalley.
If you’ve ever watched a romcom and wondered what it would be like not just to watch the movie, but to actually live it - this book is for you.
This audiobook is a lot like the movie Notting Hill. It’s almost a love letter to the movie starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.
The plot honestly sounds campy and overdone, but the book is so well written that the plot actually works.
I think if you love romcoms in general- you’ll love this book.
It is part of the fictional island of Sunset Harbor, and it’s done in dual narration. I love it and highly recommend it!
I think this may be on the top of must reads in this series. The audiobook was excellent, Briggs and Presley were adorable, really nice duo with issues they need to work out. Low key, low angst, with plenty of romance and summer dreams.

Very cute summer read!
I wasn't as invested in this story as some others in the series, but it definitely gives you all the feel good, happy summer vibes!
Celebrity romance hits the beach on Sunset Harbor in this cute new contemporary romance from Becky Monson that was such a sweet read. I loved the dual POV which worked so well for this book and I appreciated that the audiobook had dual narrators to help with the POVs. Both Presley and Briggs were such relatable characters in their own ways and I loved seeing their perspectives and learning their hearts and thoughts. I loved watching Presley fall for Briggs and what he could offer her. The whole concept of a “happy summer” was just so sweet.
Briggs is a down on his luck software developer back on Sunset Harbor to lick his wounds and work at his mom's bookstore while trying to figure out his next move. Presley is running from an uncharacteristic moment that went viral completely imploding her celebrity image and life. When the two form an unexpected friendship, the depth of feelings and bond they share are what romance readers long for. The nods to Notting Hill throughout the book were really fun and I liked the author's play on that movie woven into Briggs and Presley's romance.
I loved how kind and genuine Briggs was. He was a good hero, nice to his mom and his sister. He was such a great companion for Presley and their chemistry made me smile.
This is a sweet romance with some mild swear words and minor innuendo. I listened to the audiobook version and found the narrators voices engaging and easy to follow along with. I recommend this.
I received an advance listening copy of this novel from Netgalley and Dreamscape media. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is a book that fell short for me. While I understand the comparisons to Notting Hill being an intricate part of the story, it really didn't work for me. It was very, very distracting. I found it all to be quite unoriginal.
Presley is an A-lister and is publicly humiliated. She finds herself in Sunset Hills where she meets adorable bookseller Briggs.
I thought this book is a great holiday romance!
Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you @Dreamscape_Media and @netgalley for a #gifted copy of this audiobook.
"Oh man. I totally get why Julia Roberts's character kissed the nerdy-cute bookstore owner in Notting Hill. This kiss is everything."
Rating: 3.5⭐️
Summary: After having a video showing one of her worst days ever on set go viral, Presley James decides it's time to run away and hide on the small island of Sunset Harbor. Briggs is also running away to Sunset Harbor to help his mom in her bookstore after his start-up company tanked. After a few run-ins, Briggs is determined to give Presley the summer of her dreams that she was never able to experience while growing up.
Dani's Thoughts: Notting Hill is one of my favorite movies, and I instantly thought of that movie when I started reading this book. It was such a fun inspiration for a fun summer story. I enjoyed this one, but I will be honest, the 3rd act made me mad, which is why my rating was lowered. I knew it was coming, but it just annoyed me the way Presley handled everything. However, overall, it's a great addition to this fun series. Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone did a wonderful job with this story and bringing these characters to life. I'm glad I was able to listen to this book.

One happy summer is a sweet, charming romcom. It’s part of a series that takes place on a small island, Sunset Harbor, off the coast of Florida. Each of these books can be read as a standalone and I thought this was a good addition to the series. Presley is a famous actress, that had an unfortunate event captured on camera. She was so embarrassed and wanted to escape from the backlash. She ran away to this small island where a friend had a resort she could stay at. When she realized how bored she was because she couldn’t really go out, she popped into a bookstore where she met the most interesting man named Briggs. I thought the characters were fun and the storyline was interesting. It’s quite similar to a movie called Notting Hill, but it is a sweet, clean romance with lots of fun adventures and sweet swoony kisses. Unfortunately, it does have some mild swearwords. I also missed the interaction with some of the characters from the other books in the series. A few were mentioned, but I didn’t really feel connected with the other characters in the series. I was able to listen to the audio version of this book and I really enjoyed the narrators. I thought they did a great job. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
