I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrators did a good job.
I read a couple of reviews for this story that talked about this being a Notting Hill knock off. I can't speak to that specifically because I've never watched the whole movie but I can say that the characters talked about their being a lot of similarities. That was the trope of the story. Is there such a thing as a Notting Hill trope? Maybe there should be.
Anyway, the story is cute and there is a lot of kissing involved. For me it was too much as I began to feel like hormones were driving their mutual attraction rather than really knowing each other but they also spent a lot of time not kissing so maybe not.
I can't say that this was my favorite in the series. It is the last one I read/listened to and I had been looking forward to reading Presley's story. It wasn't all I hoped for but it wasn't a bad book either. It was maybe more edgy than some of the others. Definitely had more language than the rest of the series.
Sex: no, some innuendo
Language: yes
Violence: no
One Happy Summer is the sixth installment in the Falling For Summer series, offering a standalone romance with a touch of island charm. This lighthearted story follows Presley James, a famous actress hiding from the spotlight, and Briggs Dalton, a local bookstore clerk rebuilding his life.
Presley's viral meltdown sends her to Sunset Harbor, where she unexpectedly crosses paths with Briggs. An unlikely friendship blossoms as Briggs helps Presley experience the carefree summer she's always missed. Their connection is sweet and heartwarming, though perhaps lacking the depth found in other books in the series.
The dual narration by Abigail Reno and Ryan Stone adds to the listening experience, bringing the characters to life with their distinct voices. While One Happy Summer may not be the strongest story in the series, it's still a delightful summer read (or listen) for those seeking a light and enjoyable romance.
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ALC of this audiobook. I voluntarily read it and gave an honest review.
This is book 6 in the Falling for Summer Series. But the last book I read in the series.
I feel like I can't just talk about this book but all the books. They were all written by different authors but were all so amazing! I read them all out of order and I will still stand by reading them in different orders and this book felt like such a closing on the series to me.
This follows Briggs who's back for the summer from some failed work adventures and he's trying to figure out where to go to now. As he help at his moms book shop & Presley a A-list celeb who's hiding out for the summer after a melt down is caught on camera and she's wanting everything to die down.
The only problem is she's bored and can't stay hidden and she's awful at hiding who she is. Briggs runs into twice in 1 day and they decide to make a summer pack and build a friendship and maybe more. The only issue is what's going to happen when the real word catches up to both of them.
I'm sad the series is ended for me now. But I hope many people read them and fall in love with the story the town and all the cast of characters.
Thank you NetGalley for this Audio-Arc in exchange for my honest review.
Super cute summer romance❤️
The characters name is Briggs Dalton, Idk why the summary says Felix on audible...
Publisher's summary
Running away from my disastrous career to an island off the Florida coast wasn't part of my summer plans, but life hasn't been cooperative lately, anyway. At least here, I can hide away and figure out how to untangle the mess I've gotten myself into.
One thing is certain: my A-list status and title of America's Sweetheart are long gone, and they're probably never coming back. I'll just remain on this island until the worst of it blows over. Until the gossip magazines move on to another juicy topic. Until the paparazzi lose interest.
The problem is, I'm feeling pretty bored and lonely. Sneaking into town and grabbing a book to keep me occupied turns out not to be my best move. Because what I absolutely don't need is Briggs Dalton, the man who runs the shop. He's handsome and funny, and I can’t stop thinking about him.
Briggs believes that despite the chaos that is my life, I can still have a fun summer, and he's determined to prove it to me.
Maybe, just maybe, this summer could turn out to be a happy one after all.
Thanks to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for the ALC of this book!

What a delightful and entertaining story! I thoroughly enjoyed Briggs’ character and how incredibly awesome he was, which is precisely what Presley needs. Moreover, you witness their positive growth throughout the story, which makes you genuinely root for them by the end.

Presley & Briggs
Presley is hiding out on the island after an unbecoming video of her lashing out goes viral. She’s bored with sneaking around the island in her hoodie and sunglasses. Somehow she keeps ending up at the bookshop to see the handsome man with great recommendations.
Briggs is working at his family’s bookshop after his startup company flops. What a sweet fella he was. He had a wonderful relationship with his mom and 14 year old sister. Loved what his apartment looked like, too.
Absolutely could not stand that 3rd act, no surprise there. But the accusatory remarks were for the birds. And what she did to save her career back in LA, unacceptable. Also, really with Presley’s mom…she was something else. Typical mom that pushes her daughter to be in the spotlight because she wants it herself. I could not believe who she was dating either.
Overall, there were some adorable moments and I liked them together a lot. I loved the slow friends to lovers vibes of them getting to know each other. The list of things Presley never got to experience as a child that they did together was really cute, too.
Series notes:
The timeline is the same for each book meaning the characters from other books in the series are in the background, but haven’t necessarily had their story told yet. I like this way of doing things since it doesn’t make it absolutely necessary to read them in order, but it’ll be better if you do. This didn't have too many references to other characters though, which I found odd. Maybe because it was the last one?
Narration notes:
They both did a perfect job.
Really cute book to continue the series. The audio was great to listen to and really fast paced, which I really enjoyed. I really liked the storyline and the characters were easy to fall in love with.
*♡Thank you to NetGalley and Becky Monson for the ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion♡*
This book is one of cutest, most wholesome stories I have read in a long time! Yes, it is very much like Notting Hill which the author does reference the similarities, but it is enjoyable and still comes across as fresh :)
I fell for Presley and Briggs as a couple so fast and enjoyed their whirlwind, yet believable, summer romance. I especially enjoyed Presley trying to guess Brigg's literary middle name too, it was lots of fun!
Abigail Reno does an excellent job at narrating Presley, however it did take me a while to warm to Ryan Stone as Briggs.
Overall, an excellent clean romance read ♡
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC of this audiobook for my honest review
Cute romance ! The characters were cute and very sweet. The dual POV I loved to. I love to see what they’re thinking behind there looks at each other when they aren’t saying how they feel yet. The town was also adorable the idea of having to walk everywhere was fun. I liked that the third act wasn’t the because one of them did something really really dumb, the whole book was just so reasonable and realistic especially for a romance. It also felt like a time capsule book all the popular books from 2023 and the cookie croissant trend being mentioned will be so cute to read about in the future. And finally but this is honestly my favorite thing about this book is how logical it is ! Like I hate it when characters will forget about what’s going on in life so they can move the plot on, but he actually made sure to get his work done before his plan. If you want to read a cute romance this is definitely great!
I'll be publishing my review on Goodreads and StoryGraph 17th September and on Tik tok most likely will add to a monthly wrap up post with review the beginning of October.
Audiobook review included.
This book is part of the series Falling For Summer. It contains 7 kisses only contemporary romcoms written by 7 different authors. Each is a standalone story. The series is set on the fictional island of Summer Harbor and there are some interconnected characters that make appearances in other books. They can be read in any order.
This is the last book of the series that I read and the first by this author. I enjoyed it very much. I liked the celebrity aspect of the story. I did find that of all the books in the series, this one had the least amount of characters from the other books interacting with the main characters from this one. I sort of missed them. There were a few brief mentions of events that took place in another story. I liked being reminded of those.
There are many references to Notting Hill. If you liked that movie, you'll probably enjoy this book. I can't really remember much about that movie other than Hugh Grant was in it. I do not like Hugh Grant, so comparing this book to that movie, does not appeal to me. But, I didn't like that movie and did enjoy this book.
Also, I listened to the audiobook. It has dual point of view narration. I thought that both narrators did a very good job reading. Sometimes when switching from the female chapters to the male ones, I would get a brief flash that their voices didn't match each other. I liked them individually but sometimes had trouble hearing them as a couple. I don't know if that makes sense or not.
Thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to a complimentary copy of this book. I'm happy to leave an honest review.

I want to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ALC of this audiobook.
What a cute read, perfect for summer!
One Happy Summer follows Presley as she escapes her regular life by travelling to a small island, where she meets Briggs working at the local bookshop. The two strike a friendship (and maybe more) while he shows her all the best things to do over summer.
I really loved the two main characters here, especially with how different they are. Presley is a big shot actress, while Briggs is working at his mum’s bookshop while trying to figure his life out. They’re so different but they work so well together. Seeing their relationship blossom was so fun, I loved all the activities they did together. The side characters were great too, Briggs’ family were kind of adorable and their whole dynamic was so cute.
The only thing that really bothered me was all the references to Notting Hill. I’ve never seen the movie (maybe I should now?), so the references meant nothing to me and it kind of bothered me how often it was brought up - though it is a pretty minor gripe to be honest.
I listened to the audiobook for this and I loved the narrators. As it’s dual POV, it’s great having two narrators as it really makes it feel like you’re in that characters head.
Overall, a cute summer romcom that’ll have you wanting to head to the beach! And there’s so many more novels in this little series to check out too!
A very cute and sweet romcom! Such a fun romance based in Florida (my home state) in Becky’s Falling for summer series. Now I have to go back and read those!!
Little nods to Notting Hill and a fun pallet cleanser. If you want a sweet romance to lift your spirits this is it.
These narrators were really good for these characters! It took me a little while to get used to the MMC’s voice, but after some time I didn’t think of it anymore.
Well I’m officially done with the Falling for Summer series and I’m not sure how I feel. On one hand I’m sad, but I can always go back and reread them if I want. I wish there were more stories though because I love Sunset Harbor and all of its quirks!
This was such a fun story and I loved all of the Notting Hill moments! Briggs was the most adorable nerd and Presley was the sweetest movie star and together they made the perfect couple! Their meet-cute was so sweet and all of their summer moments were adorable. It was so fun watching Presley finally get to experience so many “normal people” summer experiences that she was denied because of becoming a movie star at a young age. The kisses were absolutely swoon worthy! 🫠❤️🔥

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook! All opinions listed above are my own.
I really enjoyed this audiobook. Briggs and Paisley were so cute together. This romance was everything I look for in a summer romcom. Lots of summer activities, not too much drama, and main characters with lots of chemistry.
The audiobook was done really well and I loved the dual narration.
This was really cute. I've now read all the books in the Falling for Summer series and, as expected, this was very similar to the others. All the books are set on a fictional island in Florida. Each has a similar tone/timeline/pacing/ending.
This particular story wasn't my favorite from the series, but it was up there. A fun, lighthearted escape from reality. Sometimes it's nice to know what to expect. Like the comfort food of books.
The books in this series can be read as standalones but it's fun to read them all since each book includes crossover characters. Definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for a cute/clean romance novel or a fluffy beach read.
3.9 rounded up to 4.
As Hollywood’s darling, Presley lives a charmed life. When everything goes sideways, she’s forced to hide out on a small island off Florida’s coast as she waits for the scandal to blow over. There, she meets bookshop owner Briggs who's determined to prove she can still have fun incognito.
Before they even got to that point, Briggs was an awkward mess around her 😂 Realizing that she was the Presley James he sees in movies was jarring but he quickly got his bearings. I loved that he wanted to help her enjoy summer once she opened up about never having done the quintessential summer activities.
From seeing dolphins to tubing, to sleeping at the beach, Presley had the time of her life. There was also the fun activity of figuring out Briggs' middle name which was hilarious. The reveal came at the right time.
Of course reality came knocking eventually. By then feelings had already come into play and they had to figure out whether they could work. I loved how it all worked out in the end 😄
I wasn't a fan of the male narrator but the female narrator did a great job. Thank you to Netgalley and Publisher for an ALC in exchange for an honest review. It's a wrap for this series, and I enjoyed it for the most part!
This audiobook was brilliant. I had not read the story before listening to this so it was brand new to me and I loved every minute of it. Briggs and Presley were both fabulous. My favourite thing in this audiobook had to be presely trying to guess Briggs's middle name, so funny, laughed out loud a few times. Absolutely recommend, it the first book I have read in this series so hopefully the others get made into audio aswell.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me an ALC of this novel.
I have read/listened to most of the other books in this series and this one might be my favorite! Briggs and Presley are just so cute. She’s a famous actress, taking a break from the limelight. He’s back to his hometown after a failed startup and helping out in his mom’s bookstore. He spills coffee on her and the rest is history.
One Happy Summer by Becky Monson is another installment in the Falling for Summer series. Presley and Briggs bring it in this “movie star falls for the nerd” trope! Presley is a fun and charismatic character who is understandably down on her luck. Sadly, her breaking point was caught on camera, and she escapes to an island off of Florida for a chance to lay low and let it all blow over. Briggs has also had some unlucky events and finds himself home for the summer. I love how these two meet and then continue to hang out and create so many special summer memories. Briggs is the sweet marshmallow who helps Presely achieve so many of her summer dreams. Despite their differences, they are so perfect for each other and watching them fall in love was completely satisfying. The middle name bantering throughout was so much fun! It has been so enjoyable to escape to this island and spend time with these wonderful characters. The narration truly brings it to life and makes it all the more enjoyable.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
I really enjoyed the audio for this, the dual narration is the best. The setting was really nice, the characters were likable. We love a cute little bookstore and sassy side characters.
