Thank you Bookouture, NetGalley, and author Rita Herron for the advance eARC of this book number 1o in the Detective Ellie Reeves series.

Ellie is coming to the end of a well deserved break after the conclusion of the previous very nasty investigation.. She's also wrestling with a personal dilemma. To clear her head she decides to proceed to the lake for a brief hike before travelling to her parents for Thanksgiving. The weather has turned and is closing in. Unfortunately Ellie runs into difficulties. She plods on stumbling to the nearby falls hoping to find some shelter. when she comes across the bodies of two young girls. She collapses across the bodies. Her last thought to protect the scene from the increasing snowfall. Fortunately, Ellie's absence is noted by Ranger Cord McClain and Special Agent Derrick Fox. Neither man cares for each other but they band to together and ultimately rescue Ellie. An investigation is launched into the girls' deaths but it's slow going as no children have been reported missing.
Then a report comes in of a vehicle that's gone off the slick roads, the woman driver has been hospitalized. Barbara, the driver, denies knowing the girls, and before being interviewed properly, she disappears. DNA comes back confirming she's the girls' mother. What is she running from? Then another girl goes missing.

This is a finely crafted read with numerours twists and red herrings. The characters and situations come alive under Herron's writing, and may be a difficult read for some as the book is about at-risk women and children. 4 out of 5 stars.

This book was like a puzzle with pieces that did not fit together until the did. Ellie and Derrick and Cord as well as their supporting cast are literally dumped into the heart of the puzzle when Ellie is injured and stumbles on to the first victims. Reading about violence against children is tough and can be triggering but the author did a nice job of keeping the feels alive. You actually felt the pain of Ellie and the other women as they grieved the two little sisters in the ice.
The real mystery hit shortly after the girls were found when no one reported the missing. As readers we knew there were more little girls in jeopardy and one woman had been threatened and another being held. Somehow those pieces fit together. Over the course of the book, the other guided one piece at a time into place until we had the whole puzzle of who the girls were but we still needed the why. Along the way, we had two red herrings and to be honest, both were creeps and could have easily hurt those children. Both characters were so repugnant and the chapters full of insight into the killer's mind could have easily come from either man.
Underneath the mystery this book is a story about family and what we would sacrifice for our family. It is also about building your own family when life beats you down. And it is about a mother's love and the strength mother's exhibit when their children are threatened. Ellie also showed her strength in this story as she fought with every tool on her tool belt to get justice and save children. We know her from previous books and honestly, she has come a very long way with her relationships even finding a way to work with Bryce which seemed impossible in book one. We also may have reached a turning point in this book where Ellie seems to choice between two good men.
This was a good book, perhaps the best of the series so far. The mystery was complex and layered. We even had a side quest for justice that was met. Ellie is in a good place in this book allowing the focus of the story to be on the mystery. The other characters including the other families rounded out the cast nicely.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Rita Herron delivers yet another gripping and chilling entry in the Detective Ellie Reeves series with The Ice Sisters. The novel starts with an emotionally charged scene: the discovery of two frozen young girls, their heartbreaking innocence shattered in the brutal snow of Cold Mountain. As Ellie dives into the investigation, she faces a web of deceit, mystery, and a mother who disappears without a trace. The suspense is palpable, and the relentless winter storm adds a layer of tension that perfectly complements the urgency of finding answers before more lives are lost.

Herron does a masterful job keeping the reader on edge, mixing shocking twists with Ellie’s unwavering determination. The emotional weight of Ellie’s connection to the victims is compelling, making this a standout case in the series. While the mystery holds up well as a standalone, newcomers may benefit from starting at the beginning of the series to fully appreciate Ellie’s growth.

Fans of Melinda Leigh and Lisa Regan will be right at home here, with Herron’s signature blend of tension, complex characters, and atmospheric settings. A thrilling page-turner that keeps you guessing until the final revelation.

Thanks to Ms. Herron, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

I couldn't wait to start reading this book! Having read others in this series, I'm invested in the characters lives now. This book made my eyes water on occasion, probably because of who was being targeted. It wasn't immediately obvious until closer to the end of the book who was targeting them and the motive. I did have to read it in one sitting though. It wasn't a book I was willing to put down until I knew who was going to be alright. Obviously now I'm impatient for the next installment!

The Ice Sisters is book 10 from Rita Herron. From the first chapter I was caught into a web of mystery and intrigue. As Detective Ellie Reeves and her team Ranger Cord McClain and Special Agent Derrick Fox race to catch a killer before two more young girls are kidnapped the suspense and deception increases. Fast paced and mind boggling to the very end!

Great book. I love this series and all the characters. Two little girls found dead and nobody reported them missing. It was a very different story line and I was fascinated by it.

This was such a suspenseful mystery that just kept me guessing. I was telling myself this is what’s going on but I was totally wrong.
Ellie, Cord and Derrick are all on the case after a killer. After Ellie finds those precious little girls the hunt is on. I couldn’t wait to finish this one to find out what the heck was happening. If you’re up for a creepy spine tingling story this is definitely it. And oh what an ending!!

One thing is for sure. As soon as you open a book by this author, you know you are in for a chilling treat.

The weather is icy cold with snow and freezing temperatures and this makes the work of our police force even more difficult. Leads and DNA are often covered under a thick layer of snow and it's very frustrating. The killer on the other hand loves this conditions, covering all his tracks and giving him almost free rein.  At least for a while...

The story is full of suspense and hides a big secret, a secret someone is not very happy about to say the least.

This author guarantees fast paces books and mysteries that grab you by the throat. Of course, a story without emotions is a dead story and that"s why the author adds plenty of them. Let's not forget about the talent she has for creating complex plots. She is a born storyteller.

And then what I have been waiting and hoping for has happened. My wish has come true. :)

There is no doubt this story deserves 5 stars.

Thank you

Two dead little girls. Where is their family. Why haven’t they been reported missing.
This was a great story that grabbed me from the first. I couldn’t figure out where the story was going and the ending was a complete surprise. If the author left a clue I missed it. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

The Ice Sisters by R. Herron, published by Bookouture is book 10 in the Detective Ellie Reeves Series.
There are cross-overs to previous books, but this book can be read as a stand alone.
Ellie is on vacation, a much needed time out from personal drama. On her last day, no her last hour she manages to get in deep trouble. She needs rescuing from Cord McClain and Derrick Fox. The ranger and the special agent don't really see eye to eye. One of them is rather jealous. She gets rescued at the last minute, and discovering the bodies of little twinsisters.
In addition to her complicated privat life, she's hunting for the girls killer.
Highly suspenseful, literally unputdownable, a binge read, 5 stars.

What a gripping book. There was so much confusion in what was really going on. It was fascinating to follow as the task force tried to figure it all out. The children broke my heart. It was so sad at parts. The ending was very interesting.
