I love this series! This installment was twisty and fabulous. I enjoyed reuniting with the characters and following their newest case. This was fast paced and full of suspense!

4.5 Stars. This series continues to be a page turner with every book cranking up the suspense. Laurel's family continues to be a thorn in everyone's side except this time her father is involved. Whew... and he's as bad as you thought. Laurel and Huck continue to build their relationship and with a baby on the way.. No spoilers but I'm cheering for Abigail dealing with a certain problem. Can't wait for the next.

Rebecca Zanetti can do no wrong as an author. She is a “Must Read” and I mean, “Read NOW”. I love this series. It has family dysfunction in spades, mystery, just enough romance to keep it even more interesting, and a the characters ooze chemistry.

Sometimes with a series, I worry that I’m going to have trouble finding the reader magic again…if I can’t remember it enough to read it without being lost. That does not happen with this series (or any of Zanetti’s books) because she is just. that. good.

Read this. Read the other books. You’ll thank me!

A pulse pounding game of cat and mouse that will leave you breathless.

Laurel Snow's first problem, having escaped from custody, serial killer Jason Abbott is on the loose again. Her second problem is the body found on the ice beside the river. When her two worlds collide, things start to get personal. Now its a race against time to find some answers.

Laurel will need all her all her wits about her as she goes head to head with her estranged father and her sociopathic sister.

The suspense is intense in this latest Laurel Snow thriller. Each turn of the page leads to another unwelcome surprise, barreling toward a harrowing ending that kept me on the edge of my seat. This latest entry in the Laurel Snow series is a fast moving rollercoaster of nerve wracking suspense and gut wrenching emotion. But to fully appreciate the anger, the vehemence, the rage and agitation, read the the first three Laurel Snow books before diving into to this adventure.

Once again Rebecca Zanetti has her readers on the edge of their seats as FBI Special Agent in Charge Laurel Snow works to get into the twisted mind of an sadistic killer in the fourth installment of the Laurel Snow Thriller series. With cleverly crafted twists and turns, and a fascinating red herring, the story has you guessing literally up until the final pages. This is another of Ms Zanetti’s books that you’d be hard pressed to put down until you’ve turned the final page.

I always like to preface my reviews from this series by saying that I am not generally interested in reading romance. No shade to people who do, it’s just not my cup of tea. When I first started reading this series, I had no idea it was romantic suspense. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the suspense aspect of it far outweighs the romance aspect, while still giving incredibly detailed relationships between the characters. It’s been really neat to see the relationship between Laurel and Huck develop. And although not everything in this book worked out the way we wanted it to, a lot of it did. Some things were so satisfying! If you’ve been following this series from the start, I can guarantee this book will answer at least a few of your prayers. It was such an engaging story and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I can only imagine what’s next for Laurel and Huck, but I’ll be there to read it when it happens!

Huge thanks to Kensington Publishing Zebra and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!

The fourth book in the Laurel Snow series, YOU CAN KILL, delivers another intriguing story but highlights some recurring strengths and weaknesses in the series as a whole. Each book features a standalone mystery while building on an overarching narrative involving Laurel’s estranged family: her manipulative half-sister, Abigail, and their toxic biological father, Pastor Zeke.
Individually, each book is engaging, thanks to its solid plotting and unique characters. Laurel and Huck stand out as multidimensional romantic leads, rather than interchangeable cut-outs too common in romance. However, the series struggles with its broader narrative arc. Abigail and Zeke are underdeveloped, leaving gaps in their motivations and behaviors that weaken the story’s overall logic. This lack of depth makes it harder for readers to connect with the stakes tied to these characters.

What sets YOU CAN KILL apart is the development of Laurel and Huck’s relationship. Their romance, which had previously felt like “will they/won’t they" cliche, has evolved into a stable partnership. Both characters, once doubtful of their ability to commit, now openly acknowledge their desire for a future together. This shift adds depth to their dynamic and balances the story’s darker elements without veering into melodrama.

Additionally, the central case once again hits close to home, raising personal stakes for both Laurel and Huck. This installment feels like it’s moving the series toward some ultimate resolution, which begs the question as to how many more books Zanetti has planned.

While the first book, YOU CAN RUN, remains the strongest due to its tightly woven plot and memorable antagonist, YOU CAN KILL holds its own with its strong pacing, compelling mystery, and strong character development. Despite its flaws, the series continues to be an intriguing mix of psychological tension and romance, and I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds.

Recommendation: 4 Stars
YOU CAN KILL is another strong installment in the series. Engaging and well-paced, it’s a satisfying read for both longtime fans and newcomers to Rebecca Zanetti’s work. I’m excited to see where Laurel, Huck, and the overarching story will go from here.

When the killings hit too close to home, it puts special FBI agent Laurel Snow on edge. Well as on edge as Laurel can get. Murderer is on the loose, and the bodies are starting to pile up. Each of the mysterious deaths can be tied to something of a past case of either Laurel or fish and wildlife captain Huck. With almost all of her team on the sidelines and Huck being pulled off the case and local reporter and podcaster stirring the pot so much that she brings attention to herself, Laurel is determined to get this case solved.

You Can Kill is the thrilling, page turning, newest installment of the Laurel Snow series. I feel we see Laurel, more vulnerable in this particular story than we have throughout the rest of the series. As the murders of the story hit very close to home, we see Laurel trying to protect those. She loves most while, still taking her job very seriously. As she feels, she knows who’s behind this particular set of crimes. There’s some around her that don’t want their secrets revealed. Laurel and Huck have a tremendous amount of growth within their relationship, and I love seeing how they are as a couple. Rebecca Zanetti has created a very intricate world within this series. Laurel is not your typical lead lady, but even with all of her quirks and intricacies she has been one of my favorite female characters.

YOU CAN KILL will have you on the edge of your seat as you do a bit of nail-biting as the danger comes closer and closer to an unexpected (or maybe it is expected) finale.

I have been following this series because I enjoy Zanetti’s other work. That said, I couldn’t finish this one. I keep finding that I don’t care for the main characters very much. They just don’t do it for me. I also find it hard to believe that three are so many genius psychos in the same place. I think this is a series I won’t continue with. If you enjoy awkward genius female leads and overly protective male leads then this is the book for you.

You Can Kill is the fourth Laurel Snow thriller. Once again Laurel and Huck are trying to solve a string of murders in their small town. The theme involving her sister Abigail and her preacher father continues and as before, we are left wondering if Abigail is bad or good. Meanwhile, Laurel and Huck's relationship is progressing as they are expecting a baby and making plans to make a home together. You can Kill is a page turner - suspenseful, action-packed and kept me on the edge of my seat.

4.5 Stars.

Oh how I adore Huck and Laurel's relationship. This is book 4 and I cannot simply get enough of them.

You Can Kill was my favorite book in the series thus far. While I enjoyed books two and three, this fourth installment felt like Zanetti was starting to dig deeper into some of the plot-lines established in the previous books. Also, I really liked how Zanetti avoided the info dumps relaying to the reader what happened in the previous books. As a reader, those info dumps felt a bit redundant. Also, the writing in general felt a bit more concise and well written compared to the previous sequels.

So, when is book five coming? Huck and Laurel have one of my favorite pairings. I've said this previously, but Laurel reminds me so much of Brennan from the TV series "Bones," but Laurel has a bit more compassion and warmth to her character. Huck and Laurel work so well together because they really feel like foils made for each other. Their relationship really feels more like a partnership where the other character respects their partner's strengths. Huck respects Laurel's intellect and never makes her feel like an invalid, or weak. He recognizes she is capable, but he still has his protective tendencies that never feel overbearing. Laurel respects Huck's need to protect Laurel because it is a part of his personality. Since the beginning, Huck has always had a need to protect Laurel. But again, it's a mutually beneficial relationship where Huck respects and values her unique intellect and abilities as an FBI Agent, and Laurel respects Huck's abilities as a talented Wildlife Officer/Tracker, and also respecting his need to keep her safe.

I'm not sure how many books are planned for this series, but I will keep reading. I'm so interested to see where Laurel/Huck's relationship goes after the ending of this book, and I'm curious to see how the story shifts now with how this book ended.

The fourth book in the series is a heart stopping, edge of your seat, who is the murderer(s) going to be, romantic thriller. We get to see Laurel and Huck’s relationship evolve and encounter what ought be its biggest hurdle yet. What I love about this series is that it you don’t know what’s coming next. Because there is so much evil in their town (btw…..the most unrealistic part of this series) you are left trying to figure out who killed whom.

I cannot wait for the next one to see their relationship evolve and figure out what in the world is going to happen with Abigail.

I'm very conflicted about this book, and furthermore, I would even say this series, especially after this book... I loved the first couple of books, but this same old villain makes the plotline feel redundant, boring, and honestly very lazy...

You Can Kill by Rebecca Zanetti
Laurel Snow #4

Dark, disturbing, despicable killers to catch ~ Excellent addition to the series

What I liked:
* Laurel: head of FBI Violent Crimes team located in Genesis Valley, Washington, intelligent, eidetic memory, has trouble reading emotions, verbally direct, honest, likes things spelled out, concrete thinker, doesn’t experience emotions as others do, loves and is protective of her family, in business with her mother, pregnant and in love with Huck
* Huck: ex-military sniper, Captain in Fish & Wildlife, overlaps working with FBI and local police force, lethal abilities, loner, has PTSD, protective, good friend, protective, patient, loves Laurel and happy about the baby on the way
* Aeneas: Karelian Bear Dog, owned by and works with Huck, bear chaser, works in search and rescue missions, also might act a bit like a support dog
* Fred: Laurel’s rescue cat
* Remembering and revisiting the characters from the previous book…at least the ones I liked
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The search for the escaped serial killer and wondering if Jason Abbott was killing again or if it was another killer on the loose
* The twists, turns, and red herrings
* Wondering what difficulties Abigail Cain – Laurel’s half-sister, Rachel Raprenzi – podcast reporter and Huck’s ex-fiancé, and Tim Kohnex might pose in the next book
* How Zeke Caine was dealt with – the father of Laurel and Abigail
* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Having to wait for the next book to be written so that I can find out what happens next

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I LOVE this series! I am thankful to the author and NetGalley for the copy.
Another installment of this series and it just gets better and better! I really like Laurel and Huck, they make such a great team.
I can't stand Abigail and hope she gets what is coming to her soon!.
This is a very fast paced read and very intense.
I am hoping the author will give us more with Laurel & Huck!

In every installment of this series, the stakes are high, the pace is breakneck, and the violence brutal. When these killers snap, they do it big … If you love a reliable cast of characters from an author who hits her mark every single time, then another Laurel Snow book is in the cards for you. Read You Can Kill with the lights on, and if you can find one, your own big, burly Fish & Wildlife officer by your side.

Laurel & Huck are back in a new read. Laurel is getting use to be pregnant she knows that it is going to be a bad adjustment but she is looking forward to a life with Huck. Unfortunately Jason Abbott has escaped from prison and he has already made his first kill. But something is different as Jason had a specific way that he killed his victims. Laurel knows that she needs to find him quickly but her sister Abigail is hiding something again. She is having enough problems with her insane father and she knows that she has to watch him. But when Huck is accused of the murders Laurel knows that she needs to find out who the killer is. But she is about to come up against her biggest foe yet. Where will this lead them? Do Laurel & Huck get their happy ever after?
Another great read in the series. Laurel’s family are a strange bunch I just hope that she can stop Abigail soon.
Great characters even the not so sane ones.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the copy. This is my voluntary review.
