When the killings hit too close to home, it puts special FBI agent Laurel Snow on edge. Well as on edge as Laurel can get. Murderer is on the loose, and the bodies are starting to pile up. Each of the mysterious deaths can be tied to something of a past case of either Laurel or fish and wildlife captain Huck. With almost all of her team on the sidelines and Huck being pulled off the case and local reporter and podcaster stirring the pot so much that she brings attention to herself, Laurel is determined to get this case solved.
You Can Kill is the thrilling, page turning, newest installment of the Laurel Snow series. I feel we see Laurel, more vulnerable in this particular story than we have throughout the rest of the series. As the murders of the story hit very close to home, we see Laurel trying to protect those. She loves most while, still taking her job very seriously. As she feels, she knows who’s behind this particular set of crimes. There’s some around her that don’t want their secrets revealed. Laurel and Huck have a tremendous amount of growth within their relationship, and I love seeing how they are as a couple. Rebecca Zanetti has created a very intricate world within this series. Laurel is not your typical lead lady, but even with all of her quirks and intricacies she has been one of my favorite female characters.

YOU CAN KILL will have you on the edge of your seat as you do a bit of nail-biting as the danger comes closer and closer to an unexpected (or maybe it is expected) finale.

I have been following this series because I enjoy Zanetti’s other work. That said, I couldn’t finish this one. I keep finding that I don’t care for the main characters very much. They just don’t do it for me. I also find it hard to believe that three are so many genius psychos in the same place. I think this is a series I won’t continue with. If you enjoy awkward genius female leads and overly protective male leads then this is the book for you.

You Can Kill is the fourth Laurel Snow thriller. Once again Laurel and Huck are trying to solve a string of murders in their small town. The theme involving her sister Abigail and her preacher father continues and as before, we are left wondering if Abigail is bad or good. Meanwhile, Laurel and Huck's relationship is progressing as they are expecting a baby and making plans to make a home together. You can Kill is a page turner - suspenseful, action-packed and kept me on the edge of my seat.

4.5 Stars.
Oh how I adore Huck and Laurel's relationship. This is book 4 and I cannot simply get enough of them.
You Can Kill was my favorite book in the series thus far. While I enjoyed books two and three, this fourth installment felt like Zanetti was starting to dig deeper into some of the plot-lines established in the previous books. Also, I really liked how Zanetti avoided the info dumps relaying to the reader what happened in the previous books. As a reader, those info dumps felt a bit redundant. Also, the writing in general felt a bit more concise and well written compared to the previous sequels.
So, when is book five coming? Huck and Laurel have one of my favorite pairings. I've said this previously, but Laurel reminds me so much of Brennan from the TV series "Bones," but Laurel has a bit more compassion and warmth to her character. Huck and Laurel work so well together because they really feel like foils made for each other. Their relationship really feels more like a partnership where the other character respects their partner's strengths. Huck respects Laurel's intellect and never makes her feel like an invalid, or weak. He recognizes she is capable, but he still has his protective tendencies that never feel overbearing. Laurel respects Huck's need to protect Laurel because it is a part of his personality. Since the beginning, Huck has always had a need to protect Laurel. But again, it's a mutually beneficial relationship where Huck respects and values her unique intellect and abilities as an FBI Agent, and Laurel respects Huck's abilities as a talented Wildlife Officer/Tracker, and also respecting his need to keep her safe.
I'm not sure how many books are planned for this series, but I will keep reading. I'm so interested to see where Laurel/Huck's relationship goes after the ending of this book, and I'm curious to see how the story shifts now with how this book ended.

The fourth book in the series is a heart stopping, edge of your seat, who is the murderer(s) going to be, romantic thriller. We get to see Laurel and Huck’s relationship evolve and encounter what ought be its biggest hurdle yet. What I love about this series is that it you don’t know what’s coming next. Because there is so much evil in their town (btw…..the most unrealistic part of this series) you are left trying to figure out who killed whom.
I cannot wait for the next one to see their relationship evolve and figure out what in the world is going to happen with Abigail.

I'm very conflicted about this book, and furthermore, I would even say this series, especially after this book... I loved the first couple of books, but this same old villain makes the plotline feel redundant, boring, and honestly very lazy...

You Can Kill by Rebecca Zanetti
Laurel Snow #4
Dark, disturbing, despicable killers to catch ~ Excellent addition to the series
What I liked:
* Laurel: head of FBI Violent Crimes team located in Genesis Valley, Washington, intelligent, eidetic memory, has trouble reading emotions, verbally direct, honest, likes things spelled out, concrete thinker, doesn’t experience emotions as others do, loves and is protective of her family, in business with her mother, pregnant and in love with Huck
* Huck: ex-military sniper, Captain in Fish & Wildlife, overlaps working with FBI and local police force, lethal abilities, loner, has PTSD, protective, good friend, protective, patient, loves Laurel and happy about the baby on the way
* Aeneas: Karelian Bear Dog, owned by and works with Huck, bear chaser, works in search and rescue missions, also might act a bit like a support dog
* Fred: Laurel’s rescue cat
* Remembering and revisiting the characters from the previous book…at least the ones I liked
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The search for the escaped serial killer and wondering if Jason Abbott was killing again or if it was another killer on the loose
* The twists, turns, and red herrings
* Wondering what difficulties Abigail Cain – Laurel’s half-sister, Rachel Raprenzi – podcast reporter and Huck’s ex-fiancé, and Tim Kohnex might pose in the next book
* How Zeke Caine was dealt with – the father of Laurel and Abigail
* All of it really except…
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Having to wait for the next book to be written so that I can find out what happens next
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington – Zebra for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars

I LOVE this series! I am thankful to the author and NetGalley for the copy.
Another installment of this series and it just gets better and better! I really like Laurel and Huck, they make such a great team.
I can't stand Abigail and hope she gets what is coming to her soon!.
This is a very fast paced read and very intense.
I am hoping the author will give us more with Laurel & Huck!

In every installment of this series, the stakes are high, the pace is breakneck, and the violence brutal. When these killers snap, they do it big … If you love a reliable cast of characters from an author who hits her mark every single time, then another Laurel Snow book is in the cards for you. Read You Can Kill with the lights on, and if you can find one, your own big, burly Fish & Wildlife officer by your side.

Great characters even the not so sane ones.

Another great addition to the Laurel Snow series. "You Can Kill" is an amazing ride in the world of Laurel Snow. Even more twists and turns, the perfect balance of mystery, suspense with just the right amount of romance. Read the series from the 1st book to get all of the backstory, or jump right in, either way, another excellent read from Rebecca Zanetti.

another amazing Laurel snow novel! I could not read this book fast enough! This series is what got me back into reading and I will be forever thankful for that.

📚 Laurel Snow is back, and this time, the stakes are higher than ever as a brutal series of murders draws her into a case with a chillingly personal edge. With her FBI instincts on high alert, she’s on a relentless hunt for a killer who seems disturbingly close—and is willing to hit where it hurts most.
👨👧 Laurel Snow and Huck Rivers make a compelling team as they face both professional and personal threats. Laurel, a sharp FBI profiler, balances cool intellect with complex family baggage, especially with her unsettling half-sister Abigail lurking in the background. Huck, with his unshakable loyalty and quiet resilience, grounds her in this storm of danger, making him an intriguing counterpart to Laurel's intensity.
💞 While romance takes a backseat to suspense, the tension between Laurel and Huck brings warmth to an otherwise gritty, chilling story. Their connection isn’t overly sentimental; it’s deep and practical, emerging naturally as they navigate trauma and fear. Their bond is as intense as the case that binds them.
👧 Abigail is that rare side character you can’t ignore. She’s a dangerous, clever enigma who keeps readers on edge. Her motivations and tactics add layers to the story, building a constant sense of unease that lingers beyond the main action.
✍️ Rebecca Zanetti masters the balance of plot-driven suspense with deeply fleshed-out characters. Her writing creates a dark, thrilling atmosphere that pulls you in from the first page, letting you feel every eerie moment and emotional turn.
🌟 A masterclass in suspenseful storytelling, You Can Kill keeps you breathless, both from the danger at hand and the tension of not knowing who can truly be trusted. This series is a wild ride, perfect for those who crave a blend of mystery, psychology, and slow-burn romance.

Good story. This is the 4th book in the series, and I would suggest that the reader will get much more context by reading the books in order.
Laurel is still with Huck, and they are pregnant. Despite the pregnancy, when several women are drowned in icy rivers, Laurel works hard to find the killer. One of the suspects is Zeke, her biological father with whom Laurel has no relationship except hatred. There are other suspects, craftily woven into the storyline. Laurel's sister Abigail features significantly in the story as well.
I liked the book, but found it moved a little slower than past stories in the series.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Book four in the Laurel Snow series. It is a page turner from the start. Special FBI Agent Laurel Snow is an expert at catching a serial killer. When one is requesting to speak to her about possible other victims she agrees to meet with him. The action begins immediately. The strong characters in this book will keep you guessing and turning the pages. Highly recommend for book clubs. There are a lot of angles to discuss.

I always get excited when I see a new release in the Laurel Snow series by Rebecca Zanetti and this one did not disappoint. In this one Laurel is trying to stop another killer before someone close to her becomes a victim and will have to prove the innocence of the man she loves. Our leading characters continue to be fantastic and another story line that will have you feeling a wide range of emotions.

I really enjoyed the latest installment of this series. Rebecca Zanetti’s writing style of enthralling, and her thrillers are fantastic

You Can Kill is the Fourth installment in author Rebecca Zanetti's Laurel Snow series. Let's call this series The Profiler meets Justified meets The Blacklist. FBI Special Agent in Charge Laurel Snow has moved her Pacific Northwest Violent Crimes Unit to her home in Genesis Valley, Washington to be close to her lover Captain Huck Rivers of Fish & Wildlife, as well as her mother who is opening a shop that features gourmet tea. Oh, and let's not forget her psychopathic half-sister Abigail who has made it her mission to protect Laurel from the father they both share.
Why you say? Because Laurel is pregnant. The two sisters at the center of the series are like two halves of one whole - one light, and one dark - one in law enforcement, the other a sociopath. This fascinating family dynamic is set against a suspenseful crime mystery. Laurel and her team have taken down (3) brutal serial killers, but it seems as though that doesn't matter. After Laurel is attacked by serial killer Jason, she is worried that if anyone learns that she is pregnant, she will be taken off the cases. That can not happen.
Not when bodies start turning up in curious places. Places where she and Huck had previously found dead bodies. As Laurel and Huck team up again to navigate the gruesome and increasingly bizarre killings, they must also keep a safe distance from Abigail, a dangerously clever sociopath. Ever since their rapist father, Zeke Caine, reappeared in town, Abigail has been convinced she must protect Laurel from his malignant narcissism—a scourge she’s sure they’ve both inherited. Huck is not spared either as a shocking development in the case touches his life and puts him in a difficult situation with his employer.
With the murders piling up, and the suspects multiplying around them, the lives of everyone in their orbit are at stake, including Laurel's mother and those who work for her. Even with Laurel’s sharp analytic skills, Huck’s deep gut instincts, and growing bond, it will take a remarkable set of events to ensure everyone survives before they’re next on an elusive killer’s hit list. For those who haven't read this series, Laurel is a child prodigy. She has an eidetic memory and knows too much about almost everything. She also has heterochromatic eyes, which apparently is a sign of intelligence.
Huck and Laurel are a perfectly balanced couple, these two know each other better than they know themselves, and the addition of Deirdre to the story gives the series more depth. This book ends on a brutal scene which I will not spoil. I am not sure where the author goes from here, but Laurel and Huck definitely need a vacation from everything that is happening around Genesis Valley and of course, Abigail who I doubt we have seen the last of.
