Paris, Pumpkins & Puns was a cute fall read in a beautiful setting. I've been in my "Emily in Paris" era, and this book feeds into that. Overall, it was a sweet story. I don't know French, so some of the dialogue was written in French but not always "translated" within the rest of the context. I was unsure what was said. I've read other books with dialogue in another language, but the characters help the reader with the translation. It was a cute insta-love story.
Title: Paris, Pumpkins, & Puns
Author: Marion De Re
Genre: Romance/Rom Com
Tropes: Fake dating, forced proximity, he falls first, secret identity
Format: eARC
Rating: 4 stars
Hazel is a food critic traveling to Paris to review well known restaurants. The idea of Paris in the fall seems so appealing to her—fall leaves, a romantic city with beautiful architecture, the Eiffel Tower, and most importantly handsome men in berets! However, when she arrives, she is less than impressed—there is no accordion music, the city smells like smoke, and where are all the berets!? Hazel did not fall in love with Paris as expected, but will an unexpected series of events lead her to meeting someone who can change her mind and convince her to stay?
Olivier took over as the head chef at a popular Michelin star restaurant after his father’s retirement. Olivier wants to try new recipes and make his mark in the culinary world, but is met with resistance from the higher ups. He wants to make his family proud and with the Michelin stars at stake, Olivier tries to play by the rules. Will he be stuck making someone else’s menu forever, or will he be inspired to start something new?
The two first meet when Hazel dines at Olivier’s restaurant. There to review the cuisine, she is underwhelmed by the just okayness of the food flavors. Olivier chalks it up to an off night. The two part ways, never expecting to see each other again, but when Hazel find herself stranded in Paris with no one and nowhere to go, Olivier find himself offering her a place to stay. They quickly bond over their interest in and love for food and cooking and develop an easy, punny friendship. To appease his match making mother, the two begin fake dating. Is it all for show or could there be something more?
Review:
This was my first book by Marion De Re and I enjoyed every minute of it. Such a fun, easy, cozy fall read. The characters were likable, and the food puns had me laughing out loud! I loved the family aspect and the chemistry between the main characters was so good. The romance was so cute, light, and fun! I also enjoyed the detailed descriptions of Paris and all the food!
If you like cozy fall vibes, Paris, fake dating, forced proximity, he falls first, and HEA then I would highly recommend reading this book!
Thank you to Marion De Re and Netgalley for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts.
I enjoyed this book so very much. It was so much fun to read, I was giggling and laughing through out the entire book. It is well written and such a fun group of characters. I really liked the author's writing style and how she tells it like it is instead of what everyone might expect. For example, her description of Paris when she firsts visits and how she comes to feel about it. And the food puns were amazing!! I finished the last page and was wanting more. The author had a bonus epilogue you can download and it was worth reading!!! I can't wait for more by this author and have already downloaded a few more of her books! Thanks to #Netgalley and Marion De Re' for this amazing book!
This is the first book I've read from this author and I loved it. It was just what I was wanting to read. Paris, Pumpkin and Puns what more could I ask for
Paris, pumpkins and puns
This book is amazing!! I was hooked right from the beginning and Olivier and Hazel kept me into it the whole way through! A very cute, autumnal romance book!
The story sees Hazel travel to Paris for her work and she soon realises it’s not how she pictured Paris would be. And just as she’s ready to travel home her flight is cancelled due to citywide strikes and she is forced to stay in Paris until they conclude. Coincidentally she bumps into the Chef from one of the Michelin star restaurants she visited earlier on, that very kindly offers to help her out. You could instantly feel their chemistry which only continues to grow on from there!
Both Hazel and Olivier are real likeable characters that are simply so suited from the start. Their chemistry and enjoyment of pun filled banter was so delightful. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Paris before so I liked that the author was very real when describing Paris too as I felt like the city was portrayed accurately. Watching the two come together and develop a special relationship was so heartwarming. The fake dating really brought a-bit of drama to the book without it taking away too much from Hazel and Oliviers true feelings.
The perfect cutesy romance autumnal read! Definitely recommend and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have!
Thankyou to Netgalley and Marion De Ré for gifting me this ARC.

Such a cute book and very well written. I loved all the food and reading this made me so hungry. I think all the side relationships were very well developed and really added to the story.
Hazel is a food critic who was sent to Paris to review some restaurants. Oliver is a chef at one of the restaurants she reviews. I loved watching these two get to know each other. Such a cute, cozy romance with all the fall vibes!

Thank you to Netgalley and Marion for allowing me to receive this book as an ARC!
This book was extremely cute and fast-paced. I read it in less than 10 hours, which sometimes is all you need. The premise was not one I had read yet as a romance, but I enjoyed meeting our main characters, Olivier and Hazel. He's a French chef, and she's a food critic who didn't enjoy his restaurants food. EEK! A short work stay in Paris gets extended, and she needs a place to sleep......his. Forced proximity with a chef who cooks fabulous foods....yes please!
Add in a little fake dating to appease the arranged date wielding mother, and you've got a recipe for some tasty romance building.
I loved seeing Olivier really gain his passion back for cooking whilst with Hazel. She truly becomes his inspiration, and she realises that perhaps she may find that Paris love.
Their chemistry and constant pun banter were deliciously sweet and had me smiling from ear to ear.
A great read for Autumn 🍂
If you are looking for a cozy, easy to read romance that is sweeter than candy corn, your fall-loving heart is going to gush PSL thanks to “Paris, Pumpkins, & Puns!”
In this “Emily in Paris” meets “Ratatouille” romance, slurp up salacious scenes full of humor, wit and enough pumpkin spice to keep you flipping the pages.
When Hazel, a Floridian food critic, travels to Paris for work, she makes a reservation at the restaurant where sexy chef Olivier has taken the reigns from his famous father. While the meal falls short of expectations, Hazel finds herself rooming with Olivier after a nationwide strike grounds her flight home.
These two foodies find each other through a passion for the plate and of course hilarious puns. Here are a few of my favs:
“Penne for your thoughts?”
“Oui. My heart beets for you, Olivier. Lime all yours.”
This book is perfect for fans of cozy romances with a splash of humor, a dash of food, and plenty of puns to keep things light, you knew exactly where the story was headed the entire time, and that’s one reason I loved it.
I didn’t know I needed to add Paris in the Fall to my bucket list, but now I do! Seriously, the fall descriptions and warm /cozy vibes that this book gives off were fantastic. I loved following the main character Hazel, a food critic, around and seeing how her life somehow gets twisted together with Oliver, a chef in France. They are both likable from the start. Being a foodie and fall fanatic, this book was fun to read. I liked that this book was wholesome, sweet and kisses only.
A silly book, great for fall! I enjoyed the banter the two main characters had with each other. Despite being a fully no spice book, it was a fun one!
So cute and romantic! I love the setting and the characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Unfortunate DNF for me, and I was really looking forward to this one too😭 15% in and I couldn't stand the amount of time it was brought up that Hazel has curves. Things like that immediately turn me off a book, it feels forced, like they only choose to write about a chef/foodie relationship to have an excuse to have a curvy mc? Curvy girls can be represented without having to mention they love food!!
Maybe it gets better, I'm not sure.. Judging by other reviews on goodreads, it's a pretty well enjoyed book, but it just wasn't for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!
Rated 2 stars because even though I didn't enjoy it personally, the idea was a very cute one!
When Hazel is sent to Paris to critique French restaurants for her newspaper she does not have the glamorous Parisian experience she was expecting. During her last night in Paris she critiques Cezanne, the Michelin-starred restaurant located in her hotel but the dinner service falls flat and even though she meets the attractive chef, she tells him that his service is lacking.
Olivier, the chef of Cezanne, is intrigued by Hazel and when he is able to offer Hazel a room after a national workers strike dislocates her from her hotel, the two become friends. As Olivier shows Hazel a native’s guide to Paris, Hazel helps Olivier to rekindle his love for food but by keeping her job (and the true reason she is in Paris) a secret from Olivier, she may ruin their chance at a happily ever after.
I have always loved the idea of traveling to Paris so I was excited to read a book where the characters were spending Fall in Paris. Sabrina (the one with Harrison Ford) is one of my favorite movies and as a girl I used to collect things with the Eiffel Tower. I was so sad that Hazel had a bad experience in Paris but was thrilled when Olivier could show her the places that a true Parisian would visit. I loved Olivier’s family and how welcoming they were to Hazel, even with the language barrier between them.
The food puns that Hazel and Olivier would share with each other were so sweet and added to the dialogue. The storyline was sweet but a bit predictable. If you’re looking for a cute trek to Paris and are a foodie, this is the book for you!
This one is adorable! I was pulled in from beginning to end. Olivier and Hazel had me laughing and sighing. They have some pretty funny moments, and some very sweet romantic ones as well.
Poor Hazel travels from America to Paris for a work assignment. And she discovers that it isn't quite what she was hoping it would be. The city has some boycotts happening which cause it to not be in its best light for tourists. She's just ready to get back home. But as luck, or fate, would have it. She's stuck in Paris for a while longer. Thankfully that handsome chef she met at a Michelin star restaurant realizes she's in a predicament and offers to help her. Hazel had me giggling over that scene. You'll have to read it to find out why.
From their first interaction, the chemistry is there, waiting to be discovered by both Olivier and Hazel. Add in a delightfully fun mother, family, the fall season, delicious food and flavors and you will be falling in love in Paris. And all of those ridiculous cliches, don't you worry, Olivier delivers on them in the best way that will have you swooning and giggling all over again!!! Oh la la!!!
Content: Clean. Some mild kisses and mild innuendos. Positive body image talk. The two main characters share Olivier's apartment due to no rooms available at the hotel when Hazel gets stuck there, but it is clean.
I received a copy from the author, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Happy Reading!!!
This book was so sweet, I love this series because they kind of feel like a warm hug.
This book was simple,(in a good way ofc) there wasn't anything pazazz about this book but I guess that's how it's supposed to be
This book is meant to be a comfy read when reading it you need to cuddle up with a blanket and maybe a cookie heck maybe even a full-blown meal too.
I loved Oliver he was so sweet, kind , and extremely funny he's food puns were hilarious honestly(So was Hazel like their humor was egg-tastic see what I did there IYKYK 🤭 )
I liked Hazel, I loved how she encourages Oliver how she sees the best in him and somehow always grounds him.
I loved how Marion described the food in this book it was so well done that I was starting to be hungry.
The puns in this were so bad but honestly that's what made them funny 😂
Did I mention that I loved the food gosh I'm quite glad I didn't read this book when I was hungry because the food described here was making me hungry.
So when reading make sure you have food near you, this was a quick read I read it in one sitting supper chill sweet swoony, and cute recommend Quick to the tea wish there were translations simple easy read funny.
I loved how Oliver's view of Hazel wasn't bad like how every time he'd say like she's beautiful the way she is so on and he was so positive about her body I loved it (does that even make sense:)
I also liked the fake dating aspect I'm not one for fake dating honestly but Marion did it Pretty well and I kinda even enjoyed it.
I loved the relationship between Hazel and Oliver it was easygoing and understandable I loved how they communicated (except for the lie) and how they were passionate about the same things I loved how they were always talking like it wasn't awkward you know.
The only downside to this book is that when anyone was speaking French there was no translation it was so frustrating cause I didn't understand😭
Also, ladies (& gentlemen ofc) if a stranger offers you a room to stay in their house in a foreign country run, run for the hills

Paris, Pumpkins & Puns is a sweet and fun fall story to read. I loved our leads, Hazel and Olivier. Hazel is an American food review reporter who goes to Paris to try the French cuisine and report back to her publisher about her experiences. One day at a restaurant, she meets the chef, Olivier, who just took over for his father at the restaurant Hazel is writing a review on. Hazel tells Olivier how his food isn't up to par with what she expected and our love story begins. Highly recommended read for someone who is look for a nice cozy fall read that just so happens to include a French hottie chef!
I received an arc of Paris, Pumpkins and Puns by: Marion DE RÉ from @netgalley and it was a 3.5 star review! This book was cute. I loved that it took place in the Fall and Paris! I loved Hazel. The puns were a little bit too much, but it made me smile. It was also predictable, which is why I gave it 3.5 stars. I loved the writing and the plot though
This was soo cute. I breezed through this book in a day and I was really enjoying it. It was such a light, engaging, atmospheric and savory read. I truly felt like I was in Paris during the fall season. This is a great read for any foodies too, the MMC is a French chef and the talk of food and cooking had me so hungry and ready to go to France! I loved the relationship too and seeing how it unfolded on the pages was lovely. If you want a cute seasonal and easy to read book, this is the one! It is also part of the cutest series called the Cinnamon Rolls and Pumpkin Spice series. Which is a multi author series of standalone books.
