Thank you to Marion De Ré and Netgalley for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
The novel follows Hazel, a food critic, whose work takes her to Paris to review several restaurants. There, she crosses paths with Olivier, a talented chef at one of the restaurants she is set to review. When unexpected circumstances force them to spend a week together, they find themselves in a fake relationship, leading to charming moments filled with pun-filled cooking lessons, visits to farmer’s markets, and autumn festivals.
Both Hazel and Olivier are such likeable characters. Olivier’s kind-hearted nature complements Hazel’s warm and inviting personality, making them an irresistible pair. From their first encounter, I was captivated by their dynamic and found myself fully invested in their evolving relationship. Their chemistry is unmatched, and the witty, pun-filled banter between them added a delightful layer as I myself am a girly who enjoys puns and banter. It just lightens any situation.
If you’re in search of a book with cozy autumn vibes and a touch of romantic comedy, Paris, Pumpkins, & Puns is a perfect choice. It effortlessly blends heartwarming moments with humor, making it an ideal read for the season.
Soooo happy to have gotten this as an ARC! It was so much fun to read and I loved the concept so much! It reminded me a bit of Emily in Paris, which I absolutely loved! Also the fall vibes of the cover art was so beautiful! -- I love that this book shows us both POV's because it adds so much more perspective to every detail! I can't wait to read more by this author!
Paris, Pumpkins & Puns is a charming, feel-good rom-com that sweeps you away to the enchanting streets of Paris during the fall season. Marion De Re’s clever writing is filled with witty humour and puns which adds a lighthearted touch, making it a perfect escape read. The blend of romance, quirky characters, and the picturesque Parisian setting with the fall season brings a cozy, autumnal atmosphere that feels both comforting and magical.
The chemistry between the Hazel and Olivier is heartwarming, and their playful banter, with their food puns, keeps the story engaging. This is a book filled with loveable characters, a cinnamon roll hero and fake dating. While some moments feel a bit predictable and the pacing could be quicker in parts, the overall story is captivating and delightful.
If you’re a fan of cozy seasonal reads with a side of humour, Paris, Pumpkins & Puns is a lovely pick to curl up with on a perfect fall day!
Super cute fake dating! Read in 2 days and loved it. Can’t wait to read more of hers. I loved hazel and Olivier so much ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you Marion for my copy of Paris, Pumpkins & Puns.
This is the first book I have read from this author and it didn't disappoint, the author gave us a delicious romcom which made me smile throughout I fell in love with the main character Hazel who is a food critic from USA, when her boss offers her the opportunity to go to Paris she gives it a shot. Paris was nothing like she expected and Hazel was ready to go home before she met Oliver... Will her opinion of Paris change enough to make her want to stay?
This book was set in my absolute favourite place Paris, i absolutely adored the cute french romances This book was such a cosy read. It was a perfect season book. I loved the characters and the way it said it from both perspectives, both the main characters was easy likeable and i will them to get together the whole way through. I felt i had to keep going to find out how it ended, i won't give spoilers but it's perfect if you're a romance reader like myself. Brilliant read will definitely be picking more of her books up in the future
This book had such a good autumnal vibe, I really enjoyed all aspects of it, including the cover. The book is set in Paris, where Hazel is sent to review food. Paris turns out to not be her vibe, but enter Oliver, a chef, who offers to help Hazel when her flight is cancelled and the hotels are overrun. Hazel agrees to pretend to date Oliver in order to satisfy his mother, a matchmaker. The two connect over food, the city, cooking lessons, and some pretty awesome puns.
This was a very cozy read, and I liked that the author focused on Paris as a character of the novel, so the readers could learn about the real Paris. I also really enjoyed the food aspect to this book, and I thought overall the author did a great job of not just focusing on the romance, but incorporating many other elements to the story that really made the book well-rounded. I had a lot of fun and enjoyment with this book!
Thank you to NetGalley and Marion De Re for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨ (4.5 stars!)
Genre: Pumpkin Spice (I’ve decided this is a new genre. But, yes it’s a RomCom 🎃♥️)
Independently Published
✨ Gosh, this hit my mood the day I went to read it. It is a cute and short / easy read fall romantic comedy that is perfect for this basic you-know-what at this time of year. 🤣🎃
✨ I definitely liked the dual POV from our two man characters - Hazel, the American food critic, and Olivier, the handsome French chef. The main characters were nuanced and nicely developed.
✨ I love loved the French fall vibes. I didn’t know that was a thing I needed, but I did!
✨Fake dating is my FAVORITE! There’s a delicious fake dating plot line with Olivier to please his adorable French mother (and keep her off his back). His family is a delightful addition to the story.
✨ He falls first in this one and it’s super cute. Olivier tries to convince Hazel to fall in love with Paris and stay, to take the promotion she’s being offered but isn’t sure she wants.
✨ Don’t read this book while hungry! The food descriptions and scenes are frequent and so yummy sounding!
✨ Just FYI - this is a closed door romance. I like closed and open door, so I didn’t think this detracted from the book at all.
✨ Be prepared for lots of cute food puns! My husband and I joke about how cheesy and corny I am, so this was right up my alley! I hope you also think it’s eggcellent!
✨ There are curves representation! Loved it. Also love the cover for this. Body positivity for the win.
✨ I definitely want to watch this rom com this fall! Calling the Hallmark channel!
This is a such cute rom com! Really enjoyed it a nice easy read to get myself into the autumnal mood! Paris, autumn and food. What more do you want!
This book is very cute. A perfect palate cleanser and a gorgeous autumnal read.
It was very cliche but not in a bad way. It was like rewatching a favourite movie, you can settle in and not have huge twists and turns.
I loved the setting of Paris but as someone who doesn’t read French, I did have to translate a few things.
But overall I enjoyed this book and it was perfect for September reading.
Thank you for this ARC :)
Yet again, I’m another goner for a Marion De Re book! This was a quick read, and easily had me swooning over the love story. A must read for sure, and perfect for the upcoming fall season!
Marion De Re is a new author to me and I enjoyed this romantic comedy.
The main characters Olivier and Hazel are very likable and the backdrop of being set in Paris is super......who doesn't think romance when it comes to this great city.
Hazel and Olivier meet by accident and, due to an ongoing strike, their paths cross again. They quickly fall into an easy going, friendly relationship.....but is there more than that between them?
A feel good read. Very enjoyable.
A truly heartwarming, pun-derful read! The book provides all the cosy autumnal vibes. I effortlessly fell in love with the main characters, and found myself rooting for them from quite early on. The use of the French language, and the puns scattered throughout really added a further level of enjoyment, I found myself sniggering along across multiple pages.
Elements of the story were somewhat predictable, however this didn’t at all detract from my enjoyment of it. The storyline is incredibly fast paced, but well balanced so it doesn’t feel rushed - I found myself unable to put it down as I just wanted to see what happened next in this sweet story.
“Well, when your job gives you the chance to go to Paris, score yourself a French guy with a beret and say merci.”

This was such an egg-citing read!!! I look forward to reading many s’more from @marionderewrites The setting is Paris in the fall and I loved how the author portrayed it in its realistic depiction and not the Hollywood movie set! Hazel, an American food critic, travels to Paris for her job. Her flights get canceled and she becomes stranded with no where to stay. Pear-fect thyme’ing as she runs into Oliver, the chef she just gave a blah review to and he offers up a room for her to stay in. What will these two stir up? Some fake dating plus forced proximity equals apple-y ever after? Or a collapsed soufflé?
Thank you, Victory Editing (anne@victoryediting.com), for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. I yam very grapeful for this ARC!:)
September 24, 2024 publishing date!!! Paperback September 17!!
I came to Paris with my head full of fantasies, but fantasies don’t exist. And let me tell you something. Reality is a whole lot better.
I loved this book so much. It was a sweet rom-com with two very entertaining MCs. I loved the chemistry between Hazel and Olivier. The setting and descriptions of France, transported me to the country.
As a fall girl I loved the cozy feel of this book. I also love how it highlights the lives of chefs. As a che myself that really made things a lot more relatable and enjoyable. I love how the book focuses not so much on lust but on these two falling for each other and getting to know each other.
The puns brought so much comedic value. They were so bad until they were good lol. Definitely stealing a few of them. This was a really well crafted romance novel. I highly recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley, Marion De Ré and publishers for my eARC of this book. All opinions are my own and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

There’s not much I love more than a fake dating scenario. This book was awesome! I loved the two main characters. I wish we had some French restaurants around me so I could try some of the cuisine mentioned.
I loved every second that I spent in this book, as soon as I saw pumpkins I was sold and it was definitely worth the read. It had me laughing out loud and welling up. Fantastic
There is muffin I love more than a cute romance, egg-specially one full of food puns! I loved the dual POV and being able to see both sides to their love story as it developed. As I kept reading, I kept finding myself smiling more and more, and my heart fluttered while the two main characters’ love for each other grew and evolved. I was nuts about this story.
Though I felt Hazel’s expectations for Paris to be a bit naive considering how intelligent she is, I
still found myself sympathizing with her for it not being all she wanted it to be. As an expat
myself, I understood she needed to fall in love with Paris to justify her moving away from her
family and her home.
This was such an enjoyable read, especially as we move into the fall season. I highly
recommend this if you are a fan of fake dating and cozy romances. Thank you so much, Marion
De Ré and Victory Editing for providing this book to me for review via NetGalley!
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. It is a slow-burn romance and I loved every minute of it. I am so happy I could read it during September/ the beginning of fall.
I have been dying for an autumn book that is just so fluffy I kick my feet and this book hit the spot. I absolutely love both the main characters and I love the setting of the whole book and that it was set in Paris. When they started to spend more time together I was just in awe of them, I love a fake dating story so this was automatically a plus for me. A couple who cooks together? Yes please. A couple who constantly joke around with food puns? Yes please. This was such a nice read and I enjoyed everything about it!
