Engaging..
The Percivals live the high life in a grand fourteen acre estate nestled in the Cotswolds. Nothing is as it seems in this particular family and, surely, no one is to be trusted. Rose is from an altogether different background when she marries into the family. What could possibly go wrong? A twisting, turning and suspenseful familial drama with a well drawn cast of characters, an edgy narrative, a pacy plot and often unexpected secrets coming to light. Compelling and engaging.
Lots of twists in this complicated story although I did think there was too much detail in places. Some of the characters were really unpleasant.
Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read this ARC in return for an honest review
Thanks for the advance reader copy of the Nanny!
What a crazy family, I often got confused with who was who but overall I enjoyed this book.
This book is about the rich Parcival family and Rose, who married into the family. When the nanny disappears, Rose tries to find out what happened and uncovers a number of family secrets in the process.
I thought the book was OK, so I'm giving it 3.5 stars. I didn't like the writing style and it was a bit too long in my opinion.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
Newlyweds Rose and Raff decide to move in with Raff's parents to save money. Raff's family is uber rich - the couple moves into a small house on the estate. Once Rose moves in, she begins to notice things about Raff's family that she had not noticed before. She stumbles across some secrets and mysteries that she wants to learn more about. When Raff's sister hires a nanny, Rose notices some tension within the family. Turns out there was a nanny at the estate back in the day, and it did not end so well for her...
A very well written book! Full of details that gradually build upon each other to create a well thought out suspense. None of the details are pointless - once you get further along, all the build up makes sense. This is my third read by EV Seymour and I have really enjoyed them all. Really love a well thought out story with interconnected mysteries.
Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy.
I was really excited for this book. A rich family, missing nannies, family secrets. It was the perfect recipe for an amazing thriller. I ended up not liking it at all. The book was very dragged out and jumped around with random points of view. I’m not sure how Melissa randomly knew what she knew (it had been going on for a long time and out of no where right after someone else discovered it she all of a sudden comes to that random conclusion with no clues?) the main character seemed to just want to find suspicious activity. It didn’t seem like there was enough to go on with all of her intense allegations. The overall plot was good but the writing style wasn’t for me and I didn’t connect with any of the characters. 2.5 rounded up.
You never really know a person. When you thinks it’s the father, mother or brother in law but it’s not.
The Nanny's Secret is a fast-paced mystery that will keep you turning the pages and guessing with twists and turns at every corner. Bordering on a cozy mystery, this book was very enjoyable. I was sorry to see it end!Be warned, the book contains vulgar language and sexual situations.
A very well written book which had me trying to guess who would try and get rid of the nanny. Do the secrets of the past have something to to do with what is happening in the present?
4 stars
Read this book in a matter of hours - could not wait to see what was going to happen - so many twists and turns - absolutely brilliant book - highly recommended!!!
This is a multiple POV suspense novel.
Rose has married into a rich family with many secrets. The saying, ‘money doesn’t buy you happiness’ fits this dysfunctional family to a tee!
Moving into a cottage on the home estate with her husband, Rose is pulled into a family drama when the nanny goes missing. She quickly finds out that this is not the first time a member of staff has gone missing.
Rose never wanted to move to the home place and now she is quickly finding out that the family members are not what they seem.
Good, solid novel. Will read more from this author.
What a twisted story full of secrets and just craziness with this family and their family house. I feel like things just keep building and building until we got to the point that it just explodes all over the pages making for a really great story to the very end.
What a good read. I flew through this. perfect for an atumnal afternoon
Would recommend to others
Thanks for the opportunity to review the book
This was such a suspensful read, as soon as I started it I was hooked and didn't want to put it down until I new the truth.
The book is told from multiple pov keeping the reader engaged and on the edge of your seat. The plot is fast paced and challenging you need to know what will happen next. As the book progresses there are many twists. The characters are interesting and demanding of attention. It's a great physcological thriller with a mystery that keeps you thinking.
Rose and Raff are trying to save money to buy their first home. Raff decides it will be a good idea to move back home with his family whilst they are saving. For most people you may be worried about if there will be the space for everyone to live at home especially as Raff’s sister Melissa and her family also live at home. But for the Percival’s this is not an issue as they live in a property that could pass for a stately home. Rose has reservations about moving in but agrees it would be a good way to save money.
However, once living there Rose starts to become suspicious about the past, particularly regarding the Nannie’s that have worked for the family throughout the years and starts to investigate the past.
Will Rose discover that she has been imagining the worst case scenario or could it be worse that she thought?
This book is told through multiple points of view and draws you into the action. The book is fast paced and full of twists and turns to keep you questioning what the truth is.
This book is great for fans of psychological thrillers and I would recommend for fans of Frieda McFadden.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the advance copy.
It’s always interesting to read a book in which most of the characters are entirely unsympathetic and unlikeable as it means the plot has to be strong enough to make you care how things turn out. This book succeeds in grabbing your interest and making you want to see what happens. There are twists and red herrings to keep you on your toes but ultimately it arrives at a satisfyingly complete conclusion.
'Nannies have a habit of dying in my husband’s family.' What an interesting and intriguing grab and one that makes you want to read this book. A book full of twists and turns, family dynamics, family differences and so much more. This is a book that will keep you engaged as you can't stop until you know what happens.
A book that is well written with some very interesting characters. The pacing keeps you reading and it flows well so won't get bored and you won't want to put it down. Keeps you guessing and wondering right to the final page. A great read.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A well thought out engaging read. The characters are believable and brought to life on the page, the book flows well and there are plenty of twists and turns. There is enough happening in the book to keep the reader fully engaged and wondering just what will come next.
I particularly appreciate how everything is wrapped up at the end.
Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc
A fast paced thriller with lots of twists and turns definitely a brilliant page turner
