This was a very emotional book. It got me in the heart numerous times and and it will be another popular Tillie Cole book with my freshman. I enjoyed this story and the emotional roller coaster it took me on. Her writing style is lovely and she knows how to hit that emotional button!

A Wish For Us by Tillie Cole is such a beautiful story!! This is the third book I’ve read by Tillie and I love her books. To this day A Thousand Boy Kisses is the only book that has ever made me cry!!

A Wish For Us was such an emotional journey and that kept me in my feels. Bonnie and Cromwell’s story has all the emotional moments that make you laugh, breaks your heart and then puts it back together, pain, redemption, and then happiness. Easton broke my heart and earned my respect all at once. Easton loved his sister Bonnie and would do anything for her including giving her his heart. I felt for Cromwell being so close to Easton and loving Bonnie. I thought it was awesome that Cromwell was able to see music in colors. I don’t want to give away too much of this book or more than I already have but I love this book!! Thank you to Bloom Books and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC in exchange for my very late honest thoughts and opinions.

The romance is sweet and there are some mild spice moments. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and how intensely they loved each other. The ending was a bit predictable but so meaningful. The only thing I couldn't predict was Lewis and Cromwell's connection. I cried for hours and am pretty sure this book is going to be in my mind for a long time. Overall, a super emotional and heavy read. I would recommend if the triggers are something one can look past. Also, people who study music or are interested in it will definitely enjoy it. Tillie Cole can write, she can freaking write, and it’s beautiful and all the rage and so much more. This was not cheesy, or sappy, this was original, and raw and real and perfect, just perfect. The descriptions, the colors, the characters, the angst, the romance, the friendships, the heartbreak, the loss, the love, above all the love, it’s all in there and it’s written in such a beautiful way that you can’t help but love every second of it. Even if it breaks you. Now, I’ve read that people are already comparing this with that other book of hers, you know which one, but it’s not, it’s different, so don’t even go there.

a heartfelt and emotional read with an undeniable charm, but it didn’t quite hit all the marks for me. The premise is strong—centered around love, music, and overcoming struggles—and the chemistry between the two main characters is palpable. There are definitely moments in the book that tug at your heartstrings, and the emotional depth of the story is one of its standout features.
That said, there were parts of the book that felt a little slow and predictable. Some of the plot points seemed familiar, and while the writing is good, I found myself wanting a bit more depth in certain areas, particularly in the character development and pacing. The tension between the characters is great, but I felt like there could have been more conflict or challenges to truly elevate their journey.

Despite a few drawbacks, I enjoyed the story overall, and it’s a great choice if you're looking for a touching, romantic read. It didn’t completely blow me away, but it was an enjoyable escape nonetheless.

This is the third book by Tillie Cole that I’ve read. The three were all themed around the idea of love and death, finding love and possibly losing it.

This one felt different to me. I was confident from the start that Cromwell and Bonnie would somehow find each other and move through the loss and grief. But then we found out much later in the story that an end to their story might be closer than expected.

This was the first book I’ve read that had synesthesia as a main storyline. The author did an amazing job of making the reader experience the concept of hearing and smelling and tasting colors. I have never known anyone who had it or read a book that described it so immediately. It was an absolutely incredible underlying theme to their relationship and to the story itself.

This was a beautiful and gut wrenching book. It tore my heart out, broke it and put it back together multiple times. It was very mushy and cute but I ended up really enjoying that.

The writing in this book was slow and boring at times. It couldn't get my attention and keep it. I look forward to more titles by this author.

I devoured cried almost the whole stinkin' book. UGHHHHH like ugly snot. cries too.

It probably dates me but it definitely gave me "A Walk to Remember" vibes with much more music. It was fun to see someone try to explain how their genius mind worked to others. It felt like it had almost EVERY sadness scenario in there which felt much but it definitely had me hooked! This is my first book of hers and it definitely won't be my last. I just have to be an emotional state to handle it!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC! This book brought tears to my eyes. I love Tillie Cole and she did it again with this one and I feel like 5 stars is not enough. I love how both of these characters were facing their own demons and found each other and really brought the best out of each other. The ending though really got me, but love how Bonnie will always have a piece of her brother.

Holy tear jerker! 1000% recommend this true love story. Keep in mind it does have a few dark topics like suicide, heavy drinking, death of a parent. The love the brother has for his sister is unconditional. He looks out for her 100 percent and watches his friend fall in love with her and just wants to make sure he is legit and not just playing her.

When I think of Tillie Cole now, I automatically think of tear jerking stories that go beyond sad. A Thousand Boy Kisses broke my heart, so I didn't expect anything different when I dived into this one.

Cromwell Dean is a new and upcoming EDM DJ that has more talent than sense, especially when he meets Bonnie Farraday after playing for a club one night in Brighton. He's long given up playing music through instruments but something makes him move to his birthplace in South Carolina to pursue music studies, and perhaps to learn more about himself. Once again, Cromwell and Bonnie cross paths and this time it's meant to be everlasting and vivid in colors.

This one was a slow slow build of a read and the reveals and major moments (The tear jerking ones, of course) came in trinkets. I loved the concept of synesthesia worked into this story and how it tied into the growth of these characters and the romance. What I couldn't get over for a long time was the name Cromwell. It was uniquely strange to me, but like the character, the name eventually grew on me 😆 The EDM portions in this book mentioned made me think of my old rave partying days (Yes, I had that phase 🙋🏻‍♀️) and the playlist included in the end was a fun eclectic collection of songs. There were parts of this story that made me think of A Walk To Remember, especially when it came to the bond between Cromwell and Bonnie. The second half of this book got to me more and more, emotionally. And in true Tillie Cole fashion, I wept like an adult child near the end and just loved how everything wrapped up.

A Wish For Us is an intricate story about love, loss and overcoming internal battles. It builds up slowly but ramps up in record time with your feelings and will break you a bit but put your heart back together too.

Special thanks to NetGalley and SourceBooks / Bloom Books for providing an electronic copy of this book, in exchange for my honest opinions expressed through this review. This re-released version was just as beautiful of a story as its new exteriors!

This is my second Tillie Cole book, but it certainly won’t be my last! If you loved Lurlene McDaniel’s books as a teen, these ones have the same vibe, but the writing is even prettier … like poetry with a side of tissues. From the first pages, I knew I would love this one because books that have music as a theme are always a win for me. It took a while for the story to get going because I wanted to know more about both Cromwell and Bonnie, but once the story got going I was completely sucked into the story and I read the last 2/3 in two sittings. All the stars, all the tears.

it literally took me forever to read and when i did i was just going vbaxk and forth and stoping cause i didnt like it at all Cromwell was toddler with tantrum and being a bully until we find out why he was acting like that and it made it seem that his behavior was justified and Bonnie made it okay and I just couldnt take it anymore it felt repetive and the author didnt know which way to take the book up or down left to right not the best.

My Review
Omg this book tore my heart out , repaired it, tore it out again and then repaired it. I loved the chemistry Cromwell had with Bonnie , Easton, and even Lewis. They all just meshed really well even though Cromwell was a dealing with a lot. It was fun learning about Synesthesia because I had no idea it existed and I felt Tillie did a wonderful job of using descriptions to show what Cromwell saw. This was my first Tillie Cole book and it won’t be my last. I loved this story.

Thank you @netgalley and @read_bloom for this arc ♥️

I’m so glad I came across this book on NetGalley because I’m a huge fan of Tillie Cole and because her books are so hard to access. This book follows Cromwell Dean who is an EDM rising star but has personal struggles. It also follows Bonnie Farraday who lives and loves music but her time is limited. These two cross paths and at first it’s not ideal, then eventually cross paths again and this time they build on each other and both find love for music again. Every book by Tillie Cole is heartbreaking and emotional but it’s so beautiful at the same time and this book is all of that! I can’t wait to read her next book that comes out next year in 2025! Thank you NetGalley and SourceBooks Bloom Books for this ARC! Publishing date of December 3, 2024!

Tillie just always grips the heart in ways no other author can. She is one that takes you through emotions. You know opening one of her books to buckle down and prepare yourself. Grab a box of tissues and settle in. She writes so beautifully. This story is yet another amazing one.

Cromwell Dean is a rising DJ star that not only feels music but sees it. He use to be a classical music star but left that in the past. He has mindless hook ups until his meet his roommate sister Bonnie. Now he wants to find his way back to his music and love. Bonnie is hiding a secret that could take their forever away. Can they work together and survive all life is throwing at them. In Tillies fashion lots of love and sadness. I gave it 4 stars 🌟 .

If I’m sure of ANYTHING, it’s that Tillie Cole can absolutely obliterate my heart in a single story.

“Her voice was violet blue. I closed my eyes. It was my favorite color to hear.”

Going into Tillie’s books completely blind is quickly becoming one of my favorite things to do—but be prepared to have your heart ripped out.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a story that captures a person’s unique experience better than this one. Synesthesia is not an easy condition to convey on the page, but wow was it done beautifully. I felt as though I could see the colors, hear the notes, and watch them blend as the words poured over the pages.

Tillie Cole is an expert at describing pain, grief, and loss—and my heart aches to think of how much she must have gone through in order to convey it as heartbreakingly as she does.

Cromwell Dean has been struggling since his father died and fighting the song and the colors in his heart. At least until he meets Bonnie and realizes that she’s the one person who seems to spark his need to play.

“She was my silver.”

I loved watching these two bring out the best in each other—but specifically how it isn’t an easy journey. There are obstacles after obstacles and the heartache is felt through every page of this book.

I won’t lie—this book is heavy. It’s emotional and weighted in grief and pain and you will feel that as you read. Be kind to yourself…but if you’re up for it, you should definitely check out this incredible story.

“Music should take you on a journey, crafted by the creator’s heart.”
