This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

This book was an absolute page-turner from beginning to end. The unique tell-all narrative style, where the protagonist speaks directly to the reader, pulled me in immediately and made the story feel deeply personal. The main character, a true crime enthusiast who dedicates herself to solving cases and aiding the police, was fascinating to follow. Her journey as a “searcher” was gripping, and the side characters added depth and charm, forming a dysfunctional yet endearing “crime family.”
"This Book Will Bury Me" doesn’t shy away from dark themes. It includes graphic murder scenes and mentions of animal abuse (handled off-page), which add to its intensity and realism. One aspect that gave me pause was how closely the fictional murders mirrored the real-life Idaho college case. While this added a sense of authenticity, I wondered if it might feel insensitive to those affected by the unresolved case. However, the story diverges in many ways, including the portrayal of the killer, and the gripping narrative made it easier to overlook.
At over 400 pages, the book is long, but the pacing never falters. Every chapter is packed with suspense, twists, and thought-provoking questions about the ethics of true crime obsession. The dynamic between rival online sleuthing groups and the exploration of how far people will go for justice added another layer of intrigue.
The ending delivered an emotional and satisfying conclusion, blending suspense with poignant moments that will resonate deeply with anyone who has experienced loss. This was an intense, twisty, and incredibly rewarding read, and I wouldn’t mind a sequel. Highly recommended for fans of dark, morally complex thrillers. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy!

I don’t even know where to start
🤯
This book absolutely sucked me in! I started reading to kill a few minutes of time while in a waiting room and before I knew it I was at 12%. Every chance I got to pick this book up, I did. And that’s my favorite kind of book!
The format of the book is literally like a book within a book. We get Jane’s POV, a 24 year old college student who suddenly loses her dad. We follow her though this raw grief, and in order to keep her mind focused on anything other than her loss, she turns to an online forum that is chatting about a local murder and trying to figure out who did it. She becomes a part of a group of five online sleuths who become famous when a serial killer goes after several college students and the group dives into the details.
This one is for the true crime lovers, online forum readers, anyone who watches documentaries and thinks they’re internally an FBI agent who could crack the case.
5 ⭐️ I LOVED it
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for my ARC! Pub date 03.25.25

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ashley Winstead!!! She is one of my favorite authors. I have no disliked a single thing she has written!!!

As a true crime enthusiast, this book captivated me from start to finish. I’ve always loved stories with detective teams, and this book delivers with its likeable characters and engaging dynamic. Jane, the main character, is written with such depth that you truly feel like you’re in her head, experiencing and unraveling mysteries alongside her.
The book is both suspenseful and entertaining, and while some twists were somewhat predictable, the journey was thoroughly enjoyable. Despite its length, the pacing was excellent—it never dragged and kept me hooked until the last page.
If you’re a fan of crime fiction with a solid mix of suspense and character development, this one is definitely worth a read!

Another 5-star book from Ashley Winstead!
I absolutely LOVED this book. Ashley Winstead has an uncanny ability for commercial appeal (SO many people will enjoy this one!) while taking a new, fresh POV to stories. 10/10 NO NOTES.
In this book, we're introduced to college student Janeway Sharp who finds her way into a true crime internet forum. As she learns the world of internet true crime junkies and sluthes, we as readers are treated to the journey. We see the good and the bad through various characters that Ashley Winstead brings to life via chat/forum transcript.
Generally, I'm torn on true crime. It's odd to me that folks list "true crime" as interests, because in many ways that is synonymous with enjoy someone else's pain and suffering - especially the families of the victims. Without spoiling anything, I thought Ashley Winstead did an incredible job of making us root for the FMC to solve the crime while still being cognizant (and humane) about how the crimes were addressed. I'll never claim to speak for victim's families and if this was an apporpirate representaiton, but as a reader, I felt entertained without the ick I get from a lot of true crime-eque stories.
This Book Will Bury Me genuinely kept me on the edge of my seat. I NEEDED to know what happened and I loved getting the clues alongside the sleuths in the book. I was captivated from start to finish.
Overall, a must read for anyone who likes(?) true crime. Loved, loved, LOVED this book.

This book has a different vibe from the author’s previous book, Midnight is the Darkest Hour. I absolutely loved Midnight so I’ve been waiting impatiently to read this one. I was so excited when I got the email that I was getting an early copy.
I wish this had been just a bit shorter - it dragged a bit for me at times. I also didn’t feel great about how it seemed largely based on the Idaho murders and it actually took me out of the story. I wish it had been a different scenario.
On the positive side, the book is well written with likable characters. It was still entertaining considering comments above.
Thank you Netgalley for an early copy of this book.

I could pick apart this book for some many things but the main one is this- taking a true crime case that was absolutely horrific and copying the details for your story feels really gross. I don’t care if the author put her own spin on it with some details changed. The families that lost their kids in Idaho haven’t even seen justice served in the case.
I keep wondering why others haven’t called this out in their reviews. As someone who listens to true crime podcasts and even reads true crime, this story actually made me really uncomfortable because it felt like it was sensationalizing a tragedy.

3.5 ⭐️ rounded up! I could have done with out the first 100 or so pages of this book but once I got to part 2 I couldn’t put it down. I liked the direction the book went! Also, because I read the authors note at the beginning (which I usually skip) I could tell she poured her heart into this book and felt very close to her dad while writing it which I loved. It felt very personal!

Thanks to Sourcebook and NetGalley for the ARC. I have enjoyed past books by this author, but this is the best to date. Highly recommend

Yowza!! What a ride! This Book Will Bury Me is so action-packed, full of twists & unlike anything I’ve read before. I understand several readers were disgusted, saying it was written about an actual, recent collage murder that’s currently being prosecuted. Yes, it begins & centers around a college multiple murder in Idaho but everything is fiction going forward but this book then goes in a total different direction, nothing like the horrible, true tragedy that actually occurred. It starts with that & just explodes with suspense filled, wild happenings that grip you & render you unable to put the book down, wanting to know what’s next. The numbered notes were different & cute. This is an addictive read of the best kind.

In my opinion, Ashley Winstead can write literally anything. Her books never miss for me and this is no exception. A different take on true crime that will keep you guessing literally until the very end. Absolutely loved this one I already want her next book.

Let me start this off by saying- even before its debut, I found this title to have polarizing reviews. After reading the author's note, I determined I wanted to give this book a shot, as this is an author I LOVE= she's an auto buy for me. I am very glad I did. Yes, this book combines true crime and crime fiction in a very unique way. This one reads as a true crime within a true crime world, almost, because so many real crimes were submitted as examples within these pages. I could feel Ashley's grief within these pages, and I think many may have missed the point of this one. All we want is to make a legacy for the ones we love, making sure their name lives on along with their memories. In that way, the author's desperation to remember makes itself evident and I really thought there were many brilliant metaphors enmeshed inside- which is most surprising in this genre. It gives a necessary view of true crime and the "vulture culture" behind the amount of content we consume. Some parts made me feel quite called out- but damn, they're true. This format is super fun and easy to read when it comes to the chatroom conversations, and the characters are varied and fleshed out even when they're not morally the best. A lot is going on in here and I can't wait to read everyone's thoughts on it. Thanks so much to the publisher and the author for the chance to read and review the eARC!

5⭐️. No notes. Ashley has been an auto buy author ever since In My Dreams and I always devour her books. I was so excited to get an early copy of this one and boy did it deliver! I loved the true crime aspect and the forum message format throughout. I’m usually pretty good at guessing the twists, but this one got me! Seriously so good.

I was impressed how good this book was! I read Midnight is the Darkest Hour last year by Ashley Winstead and loved it. This Book Will Bury Me was very different from that. Very much a true crime novel. I typically do not read true crime but enjoy it when I do. This book had me hooked from the start! Very easy to read. Short chapters. Intriguing story. I did however think this story was dragged out a bit long. I guessed early on how the murderer was too. Overall, still I loved it! I wrote a Bookstagram review post on this and have it linked below. Thank you for giving me this arc!

4.5⭐️ I really enjoyed this one from Winstead. Unique, clever, well-written, and thrilling.
Jane Sharp’s father suddenly passes away and and she can’t seem to get over her grief. She hears about a local murder and becomes immersed in the world of web-sleuthing. She becomes so immersed in the online true crime world, that she can’t focus on anything else in her own life - school, work. When a series of murders in Delphine, Idaho happen, Jane and her group of online true crime friends head to Idaho to investigate. But things just go wild!
I suspected pretty quickly what was happening in here, but I didn’t feel like it impacted the overall story. I still felt like it was an edge or hour seat page turner! I loved Jane’s quirky character and how the other characters meshed together.
Chapters were pretty short and sweet which is always a plus for me!
It was very interesting to see into the world on online true crime detecting. I felt like the author gave a good sense of how that works and also how it can do more harm than good.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Landmark for this advanced e-copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved everything about this book. It was so well done. If you’re looking for an unputdownable read, then you need to check this one out.

Cyber sleuthing is becoming a hot topic with the rise of true crime TV and podcasts. Jane is lost in grief and looking for a distraction and a group of armchair amateur detectives is the perfect thing to help her focus on events other than her loss. Jane and her new friends become intrigued by a triple murder case and decide to try their skills at solving it only to quickly find out there's more going on than the public is aware of.
This is a fascinating book by a rising star in the suspense genre. She carefully controls what the reader knows, handing out bits and pieces, building the excitement. I very much enjoyed this book!

Ashley Winstead remains a thriller/mystery icon.
Jane Sharp is an average college student but her life is upended when she receives a call that her dad has had a heart attack and died. Her grief is unmanageable and, in searching for an outlet, Jane comes across a murder case and an online forum dedicated to solving murder cases. Jane starts with this initial case but gets sucked into the cyber-sleuthing community and tries to solve the murder of several college girls.
This was such a wild ride full of interesting characters and in-depth investigation. Winstead does such a great job of exploring people's desires and motivations. Her writing is excellent, as always, and her main character is another good, complicated, and morally gray protagonist. I ate this one up.
Recommended for fans of her previous books and fans of more literary mystery/thrillers. Definitely recommended for people who enjoy true crime investigation.
Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this in exchange for an honest review.

Really kind of obsessed with this book. I loved the way it was written and the little parts that made me wonder where this story was going. 25% In I was freaking hooked. Flew through the rest of the book in a day. Great story. Great ending. Will continue to read anything from this author. Thank you NetGalley for this arc
