A wonderful story all about taking an ordinary, boring moment and turning it into something magical. Adorable illustrations help our imaginations flow as we follow along on the adventures with the Weeples who cause so much trouble. This is such a creative and fun book. It is a great way to show little ones how to use their imagination and to problem-solve in a creative way. Enjoy this adventure with your little ones.

The only thing a little kid hates worse than being stuck tagging along on boarding errands, is doing the errands in the cold rain. Josh Bandai tells a delightful story about a child who distracts themself using their vivid imagination. But even in a make believe house with silly make-believe friends, not everything is perfect. A little problem solving brings the daydream to a happy end. This story is creative and amusing, and little kids can learn that they can turn around a bad mood themselves. The illustrations are cute and whimsical as well.

A charming tale of one boy’s escape into his imagination - a fun reminder that a giggle and great imagination are all you need to escape the dark clouds of life! Engaging for children with a quirky sense of humour that will appeal to adults alike. Loved it!

A decent book, that combines a strong narrative with a purpose and obvious helpful intent. It features a kid stuck doing errands in the rain, and so imagines a world within their raincoat. Visiting it they find so much diversion from peculiar situations and bizarre characters that – well, when they finally emerge, the mood is not the only thing different. This shows the power of distracting the mind from a bad mood, and how it's something you can do yourself, even by accident – it doesn't involve any therapists, or mentors, or mindfulness apps. It doesn't say nobody should use those, but that you can fall into a good mood just through chance and a good imagination. And I'd recommend those without the proof of their benefits as shown here – but if you need evidence then these pages are fine. They have a strong story to guide the young audience through the lesson, a tiny bit of cuteness, and no obvious lecturing to put anyone off.

I received a copy of this eBook from netGalley for a honest review.
I found this book to be confusing. It starts out as a kid who doesn't want to be wet on a rainy day to a kid dealing with these strange imaginary problem makers in his raincoat escape. I just didn't get how they went together.

My kid absolutely loved the book! We’re both big fans of the illustrations—they really keep him coming back to read it over and over again!

The grouchy boy does not like getting rained on while out running errands with his Mom, so he puts his imagination to work. He visits three imaginary neighbors, and together they must rid the space of the invaders...weeples!
Very creative and fun!

This colorfully illustrated children’s book is a fun read. The child in the story decides to climb into their raincoat and has an adventure there.

Rainy days make one little boy want to stay inside and snuggle with a cup of hot cocoa. Unfortunately, his mom wants to run errands. While sitting on a bench waiting for a bus, he dreams up an imaginary trip to the library, where several calamities require his assistance.
Small children may require some assistance processing what is going on that prompts the imaginary visit to the library. That is part of the fun of picture books, that the listener depends on the reader to talk about the contents of the book. The actual misery and uncomfortable feelings of heavy rain are accurately displayed and described!.

This was cute and the art is adorable, but I’m very lukewarm on the story and writing. It was fine, but not strong. And the plot was very nonsensical which I can understand for children’s books, but I still expect the fantastical to have a bit more… Cohesion? It was pretty good.

The illustrations in this book are very well done and there is a lot to look at it. The story starts out with a boy who is grumpy that he needs to do errands with his mother while it is raining, but he soon escapes into his imagination. The overall storyline is cute, but it jumped very quickly and I was left feeling a little confused.
Thank you to NetGalley, North Star Editions, and Jolly Fish Press for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sweet book about the fun and imaginary adventures had during a rainstorm. A little all over the place but very sweet too.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Our kids (3 and 5) liked this story. It was not quite as attention-holding as some other books but it was cute and unique. Probably not one we’d buy a hard copy of for our personal collection. We would check out others by this author. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC to review !

Grumpy kid has to go out on a very rainy day and can't just curl up under a blanket with a book and a hot cocoa. But there are imaginary friends and a proliferation of weeples until a solution is found!
The illustrations by the author are imaginative, colorful, and FUN!
Well suited for reading WITH someone any age from 4 and up including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected proof readers advanced copy on Adobe Digital Editions from North Star Editions | Jolly Fish Press via NetGalley. Thank you! Pub Date Mar 11, 2025

A nice way to have a distraction from what is troubling you. There is always sunshine or even rainbow after the rain :)

Such a cute story. The little boys imagination is amazing. I read this to my son for bedtime and he loved the weeples.

Thank you to Netgalley and this team for giving me updated copy of this book. Read this one with my youngest daughter and she loved the pictures and the animals talking. She was the most amazed at the weeples "poofing to popcorn" and disappearing. Super cute, easy to follow for 3-5 year olds.

This was a very unique story and I feel I would give this to any child I knew. Very sweet and silly.

Rain, Rain is about a boy who is going through something that a lot of kids hate: running errands with their grown up. To get through the time, he imagines a world of silly make believe creatures. The illustrations are very cute and bring what is going on in his imagination to life.
Thanks to North Star Editions and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.

Rain, Rain by Josh Banday is a sweet story that captures the magic of a rainy day through the eyes of a child. The book has vivid illustrations and poetic prose. The story is short, to the point of feeling rushed, but that may appeal to very young readers.
