I just finished this adventure. I couldn't put the book down it was so good!
When I read through the first few chapters I almost didn't finish it but now I'm glad I did.
Another story written In Verse style was why I almost didn't finish it.
An interesting tale of four women from all walks of life somehow end up together in a fun loving adventure well... not exactly but I will say adventure.
Especially with a hurricane coming! Florida is known for hurricanes. I just came through one. Those things are absolutely scary so while this was going on I really could hear the wind and rain. That was the scary part!
I didn't much like Cassie at first but later on changed my mind. Then we have Bri, Abigail each one with their chapter. But, the characters never missed a beat. Flowed smoothly picked up where one left off.
I think the hurricane was the most exciting backdrop of the story.
Sometimes it takes a disaster to bring everyone together and make them see what's right in front of them.
5 stars from me for keeping my interest. I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
CW: graphic depiction of a car accident; hurricanes; injury/blood, pregnancy. But the dog and child both live. ;)
Four women, of very different backgrounds, must put aside their differences to make it through a hurricane disaster.
Football WAG Abigail and her daughter Riley are suddenly forced into homelessness as Hurricane Odette bears down on Florida. Fashion designer Claudia is battling both narcolepsy and guilt over past tragedies. Cafe owner, and Claudia's niece, Cassy is struggling to move on from a tragic accident that destroyed her family. And Cassy's bestie, Bri, is trying to find a way to break the news to Cassy that she's in a relationship with Cassy's brother.
I really wanted to like this book, but unfortunately it wasn't not me.
While each character had their own chapter, they were all told in first-person-present-tense, which is not a writing style I gel with, and there was so much backstory that the action didn't actually start until around the 75% mark.
So - not for me, unfortunately. Possibly a good read for those who like a long lead-up and lots of interpersonal dramz.
~Many thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review~
This book was hard to finish and I do not think I was the intended audience of this story! Did not like much at all.
