I struggled a little with the medieval writing style, my brain had a hard time putting together the story within the novella and understanding what was happening to Gore.
For the most part I liked the author's descriptions when setting the scene. It was easy to picture the gore and the demons. However, I found there were many repetitions of the same word which would throw off my reading. I often felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again.
Overall, I think this novella may not be my cup of tea, that I don't mesh well with the writing style. But if a reader who enjoy medieval style writing with gore, demons and abominations then this might suit their reading style perfectly!
Unfortunately this book was very underwhelming. This is a really short book, around 80 pages. I would even call it a novella. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary since it was so short.
I DNF @ 25%. A lot of the scenes felt overwritten, and I felt like there was too much telling, and not enough showing going on. The chapters felt very disjointed, and I wasn't sure where I was at in the story. It felt too rushed, and when I wanted to get to know a character more, the scene shifted into the next chapter, and I wasn't sure how they connected at times.
I can wholeheartedly say that when I saw this cover I fell in love. Unfortunately this book was very underwhelming. This is a really short book, around 80 pages. I would even call it a novella. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary since it was so short. The story was pretty dark so it might work for spooky season. The writing however, well, this book is marketed as YA. This feels more NA in my opinion. Not only the writing but the plot as well. The writing also felt a little bit rushed and chaotic but that might be because of the length of this book, and the main character's name was way too overused. One thing I did love about the story was the medieval setting.
The story wasn't necessarily bad I just felt like I was missing a previous book. I can see this being a "Witcher" novella about some character named Gore. Despite my excitement, it was not for me:( I would still recommend it for spooky season thought!
Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for providing me this book in exchange for an honest review!

Get ready for a wild ride into a world where demons and darkness rule! 😈 Gore, Volume 1 introduces us to a badass warrior with a giant black mace, fighting against evil forces and unraveling his own dark past. This book is packed with epic battles, creepy landscapes, and a hero who's got more grit than anyone could handle. If you’re into thrilling fantasy with a serious edge, you’ve got to check this one out! 💥📚👊
This was pretty good but for a book marketed towards YA and Teens there was a lot of big words making it hard to read if the reader isn't familiar with such language. Yes, of course, you can look up words and meanings but it takes you out of the story every time you need to stop to look something up imo. If you have a good vocabulary, you'll have no problem reading this but I thought I'd thrown that out there. That being said, the story itself is good, if gory (hence the name I'm guessing /wink). This is a short, dark, and intense and would be perfect for reading around spooky season!
