This was such a sweet romance, with a few bumps, that left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Usually, I read a lot of psychological thrillers, but I enjoy a good romance to mix things up. I had a hard time putting this book down. I loved the interactions between Jamie and Elliott, the witty banter, the instant attraction, and even the down moments. I felt for Elliott and the cancer battle she had as a teen and even now. However, she has a wonderful support system when times get tough. Jamie has some insecurities tied to his dad, and how he went through women like they were candy. Jamie does not want to be like him, but has moments of doubt. Luckily, he has a very supportive sister, Blythe.
Watching Jamie and Elliott navigate the waters when she returned to Omaha was tough, but things were different. Plus, she left, and he didn't even know how to reach her. I can't blame her for leaving with no contact after a magical night, but she didn't know how the cancer treatment would work.
The cherry on top is Hank, the dog. He is such a lovebug, and you can't help but love this overgrown furball. Hank adds character to the story.
Try this one if you are in the mood for a sweet romance. I hope you love it as much as I did. We give it 5 paws up.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to @authorallisonashley, @amazonpublishing, and @netgalley for the #gifted e-book!
This romance captivated me from the very first page.
Elliott's journey begins the night before her stem cell transplant when she meets Jamie, the love of her life. Their connection is instant and deep, but just as quickly as she finds him, she disappears from his life. Fast forward over a year later, and their paths cross again, only to reveal a shocking twist: Jamie is now the boyfriend of her stem cell donor. Will they brave the complexities of their circumstances and pursue their undeniable feelings for one another?
This heartwarming story beautifully captures the essence of love at first sight. The character development is wonderfully executed as they navigate their emotions and grow closer. I particularly enjoyed the vibrant friendships surrounding them and the unwavering support from Jamie’s sister. Elliott's battle with leukemia, although she's in remission, adds a poignant layer to the narrative, highlighting her lingering fears.
This book is a delightful blend of fun and heartfelt emotion. If you cherish romance that speaks to the heart and soul, then this is the perfect read for you!

This story was so cute and sweet! It started with an adorable meet-cute, but the characters parted ways after just one night, which ended with a kiss, only to meet again a year later. I adored both Elliott and Jamie; their personalities were great, they had great chemistry, and their banter was fun to read. What I love most about Allison Ashley's books is the way she carefully incorporates heavier topics, such as cancer, into the story and balances them with humor. So we get not only a cute love story but also valuable insight into the protagonist's medical condition.
Thank you, NetGalley and Montlake, for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Beautifully written characters that I felt every emotion from happy to sad to everything in between. The slow burn after their first meeting was spectacular and meaningful.

Completely bingeable - I read "If Tomorrow Never Comes" in a single day. Ashley's work always has this effect on me -- I can't put her books down!
This one was a bit more Hallmark-ish than I would have liked. Especially when it came to the conflict portion of the story. I loved Elliott and Jamie's meet cute and was able to guess the twist on how they would be reunited yet still enjoyed that reveal.
What I struggled with in this book was that Jamie (our MMC) was too into his feelings - lol. I get that we love a guy who can express himself but for me, it was a bit dramatic, and I didn't love that he was taking other people's actions and feelings into consideration when deciding if he wanted a future with Elliott. As a fan of romance stories, I simply wanted Jamie to love Elliott out loud, exes be damned.

allison ashley did it again!
as a owd enjoyer i had to say the angst this one delivered was DELICIOUS. if you’re not one to enjoy that, please beware or outright avoid. but since i love it I ATE IT UPPPPP
jamie and elliott quickly got me wrapped around their fingers. i loved their connection, their dynamic, all that angsty back and forth of fighting against what they wanted but wouldn’t go after.
at the same time that this book brings it an emotional subject and scenes, the heartwarming and sweet tone isn’t lost at all. i was smiling throughout all the pages of the story, and that’s why i believe i flew through it.
i loved this book and i’m so excited to read more of ashley’s future releases!

If Tomorrow Never Comes is a beautiful and emotional story. We start off the night before Elliott’s aggressive cancer treatment and find her having a romcom worthy meet cute with Jamie. Flash forward one year later and she’s meeting her stem cell donor Carly and her boyfriend Jamie (gah!!!!).
While we aren’t fans of love triangles, we are fans of Allison Ashley and knew we should give this book a chance. We are certainly glad we did. If Tomorrow Never Comes was a book filled with great chemistry and banter, wonderful longing and pining for each other, and a cute dog to boot!
Elliott and Jamie were a great story to fall in love with and their supporting characters made the whole book better. This book was emotional, authentic and occasionally heart-wrenching, yet it also featured wonderful moments of unexpected lightness that brought it all together. We are so glad to have read it!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the early ARC. I’ve enjoyed all of Allison’s books. I’ve had the privilege of meeting her at a book signing. She’s such a sweet, fun, kind human.
Love her emotional way of writing. She pulls a lot from her profession to write her characters and their experiences. She knows how to pull on a reader’s heartstrings and make them feel for these characters.

I loved this book so much. It gave me all the feels. It felt real and not forced. The characters were great. The pace was great. Highly recommend.

3.5 stars:
While I liked both of the main characters and their relationship, I don’t enjoy a love triangle trope and it created too much drama throughout this book for me to get past it. The rest of the story focused a lot on living with and after cancer, so read trigger warnings before picking this book. If these two things don’t bother you, then give this book a try!

🤔 My Thoughts: This was a highly emotional read for me. Dealing with cancer and the fear of it coming back was always in my mind, but I remembered why I went through everything-to live. It was contrived perfectly that Jaime and Elliott fall in love because Carly was so understanding about their break-up. She quickly left town and started dating someone else immediately. She was a little surprised at how Jamie deceived her but gave Elliott grace when she needed her.
Rating: 4/5 ✨
Spice level 3/5 🌶️ fade to black

Edit Review

Thank you so much for the advanced copy of If Tomorrow Never Comes.
I was so hooked in the beginning of the story, because nothing really stops you from having the best night than knowing you have cancer treatment/surgery the next day. I love that Elliott got out of her comfort zone and just had the best night with then stranger, Jamie. Their "date" was so cute. Then we flash to a year later and she moves to his city after responding well to her stem cell transplant surgery and she ends up running into Jamie because he is dating Carly, the woman that ended up saving Elliott's life. What are the chances!?
I loved that Jamie realized that Carly wasn't for him even if he didn't end up with Elliott. I am happy that they never did anything together when C/J were still a couple. BUT, I did not like how much Jamie was SO worried about Carly's opinion after they broke up. I get feeling like that when you are a teenager/YA, but I think at some point, you just have to life your life. Blythe, his sister guided him in that direction. Also, talking about Carly getting engaged right before he proposes to E? I actually think that took away from the sweetness of the proposal.
Overall, I think romance readers will enjoy this sweet story.

An emotional novel about a woman whose life was saved and then...Carly's donation saved Elliott's life, Jamie's kiss enlivened it. Unfortunately, as it turns out, Jamie is Carly's boyfriend. An awkward situation to be sure but it makes for a novel that will keep you turning the pages. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Good storytelling makes for a good read.

4⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for an advanced copy of If Tomorrow Never Comes.
Elliott is preparing for a major procedure and she just wants to enjoy herself and forget for a night. She goes to a bar and she meets a man named Jamie. He got stood up and they end up taking a cooking class together and honestly share the perfect evening. The kids they share is earth shattering and life changing. But she leaves him without anyway to contact her. Flash forward a year and Elliott is doing well and she is meeting her donor Carly and they hit it off immediately. Carly invites her out to meet her friends and she sees Jamie for the first time since that night but he is now Carly’s boyfriend. Elliott and Jamie have not forgotten about that night but try to move on but that is easier said than done.
I really enjoyed this book! I liked the plot and the characters. I liked that the romance aspect was not cheesy it was a mature romance! Also loved that this book took place in my hometown of Omaha!

This was a sweet and easy read with my favorite kind of meet-cute/first date: the kind where the couple goes where the night takes them and have perfect conversations and chemistry. Those unforgettable, magical kind of first dates. I love these kinds of meet-cutes in my books, movies, and tv, and it was written perfectly in this book.
I really liked both main characters and appreciate that it was written as a dual-pov so that I could read and understand things from both of their perspectives. This book had a ton of great characters. There were some very minor characters that were pretty flawed, but otherwise everyone was a decent human being. While that's nice and heartwarming, it does admittedly make the storyline feel a little less authentic. In real life, people are very flawed and we all have difficult "characters" in our lives. But that is really just me being nitpicky, and it's not even something I noticed while I was reading. I only thought about it as I was writing this review.
But trust me, this book was still filled with plenty of angst and there of course were parts with tension, anguish, pain, and struggles. I thought those parts were written and handled well. There was a dog named Hank that had so many appearances in the book that he felt like his own character. Even though I'm more of a cat person, I LOVED Hank.
Also, I really liked the conversations and banter between Elliott and Jamie. Sometimes too much banter in books can have me rolling my eyes, but I really loved how their conversations were written. They felt authentic, fun, flirtatious and realistic.
Side note: I've never seen/read a female character named Elliott (nor do I know any female Elliotts in real life), and for whatever reason, I constantly, constantly forgot that Elliott was the female character as I was reading. I don't know why it was so incredibly hard to wrap my head around that, but I literally had to remind myself of it every single chapter. It didn't help that the MMC's name is Jamie, which is also a gender-neutral name.
One of the only things I found kind of odd was also the Starbucks promotion/mentions. The FMC works at a Starbucks, but I'm still surprised at how much it was mentioned, or why the Starbucks name was used at all. But the character made sure to mention (multiple times, which is really what felt odd to me) that she could work at Starbucks part time and still get health insurance. I do understand why that was important to the story to mention how she had health insurance, given her history with leukemia, but it wasn't something that needed to be mentioned more than once. Again, just a nitpicky thing that didn't affect my overall enjoyment of the book, but still felt worth mentioning.
All in all, I enjoyed this book and found it to be a quick and easy read. My rating falls at 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 (since half stars aren't an option).
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the arc of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so intriguing.
I liked Elliott and Jamie's meet cute, and how she decided to live it up before her treatment.
And then the tangled web between Carly? Such a gut punch!
I really enjoyed the evolution of this story, and seeing how it all played out. This book is romantic, but also incredibly thoughtful. It was a good read, and I think others would like it too.

I never thought I would love a book with the love triangle trope, but, here I am, proven wrong!
This was a sweet and heartfelt romance, with some heavy topics, such as cancer (Leukemia) and family drama. I thought everything was handled with care and I found the medical side of the story really interesting.
I LOVED Jamie and Elliott's first meeting, I thought it was so cute! I was definitely rooting for them. My heart broke when Elliott found out Jamie was dating Carly, her stem cell donor, and the woman who saved her life.
While love triangle is definitely not my favorite trope, I thought the characters handled it in a mature way, despite the uncomfortable situation.
When you read this, you'll swoon, you'll laugh and you'll cry. I definitely recommend this book!

Elliott and Jamie meet the night before she is to have a life saving stem cell procedure. They have an instant connection, but she leaves him with a fake name and nothing else. She knows that her immediate future is questionable.
Jamie never forgets “May” but eventually moves on.
A year later, after a successful procedure, they accidentally meet again. Jamie is dating Elliott’s donor. Complicated much? I think so!
This is only three stars for me because I thought it would be more emotional than it actually was. It was an okay read, but a little long with an obvious ending.
Thank you to Booksparks, Montlake Romance, NetGalley and the author for an advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If Tomorrow Never Comes by Allison Ashley is a deeply emotional and thought-provoking romance that blends themes of love, resilience, and second chances. The story follows Elliott Holland, a leukemia survivor preparing for a fresh start after undergoing a stem cell transplant. On the eve of her treatment, she shares an intense but fleeting connection with Jamie Sullivan, an easygoing arborist. A year later, fate intervenes when Elliott discovers Jamie is dating Carly—the very woman whose stem cells saved her life.
As Elliott struggles with guilt and unresolved feelings, Jamie faces his own fears of repeating his father’s mistakes. Their slow-burning romance is built on meaningful conversations, quiet moments of connection, and mutual emotional support. Ashley, a clinical oncology pharmacist, portrays Elliott’s medical journey with authenticity, adding depth to her character. The novel is a heartfelt exploration of love, healing, and the courage to embrace happiness despite life’s uncertainties.

The hardest reviews for me to write are the ones where the book is just … ok. This book is neither spectacular nor awful. It’s just ok.
Blurbed as a second chance romance, it’s the story of Elliott and Jamie who meet and share an instant connection. The budding romance is over before it starts when Elliott disappears to begin treatment for a stem cell transplant without exchanging contact information. Fast forward a year and our duo meet again, but this time Jamie is dating Elliott’s stem cell donor. Messy, right?
This is a tale of bad timing. I didn’t connect with any of the characters. I didn’t dislike them, they were just not that interesting to me. There were some sweet moments and the love triangle was handled with sensitivity.
I read this immediately after another book that gave me all the feels which may have been the issue. My expectation bar was set extraordinarily high and this didn’t stand a chance of measuring up. I’m intrigued enough to want to read more by this author as I think she is talented.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.
