Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for the chance to read this book! I really loved the characters, the author did a great job with character development. I loved the medical aspects that were sprinkled into the story as well. A love triangle is a hard thing to write about but it was done in a very careful way by Allison!

Once again, Allison Ashley has written an emotionally rich tale that gracefully explores life's challenging moments. If Tomorrow Never Comes was the perfect read to kick off my new year. Ashley invited us into a bittersweet world but still kept it light and breezy much like the gentle rustling of leaves atop one's favorite tree.

I was delighted by Ashley's artful use of chocolate. She uses this little detail that seems almost absurd at first as a connector but also to illustrate the depth and complexity of the cancer journey and patient experience beyond the walls of a doctor's office. She sweetly explores grief and loss beyond the physical toll of the illness. I remember being devastated when salt and vinegar chips (my favourite) no longer tasted the same to me, but this is something people don't really talk about when you go through illness so it was nice to see Ashley include it.

Originally slated for release later this month, the book is now scheduled to be released in April so don't forget to mark your calendar and pre-order your copy! It's only my first read of 2025 but I know it'll be in my top 2025 reads.

I thought this book was different than the average romance book, so because of that, it definitely gave this book some unique elements. However, I felt like it was hard to really see the characters attraction to each other after only one night and one kiss. I think if readers really enjoy insta love storylines, they'll enjoy this one. It was cute, but unfortunately not one that I'll really remember too much from. I will be reading more from this author though because I liked the writing and it was a quick read for me when I was able to sit down and read a few chapters at a time!

I recommend the book for readers who are looking for an emotional story!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The main characters in this book were really cute but I actually really loved the side characters like Blythe, Carly, and Yuca; they were amazing examples of good friends. I enjoy seeing that kind of love highlighted in a book along with the romantic storyline.

Speaking of the romance, the slow burn and mutual pining were ON POINT. The storyline has a plot point that can be tricky to maneuver and I thought it was handled really well.

I will read anything Allison Ashley writes and I can’t wait to see more from her!

Romantic content: multiple fade to black scenes

Loved it.

Good pacing, lovable characters all around, and overall just a heartwarming book. I appreciated the authenticity of feelings and reactions to scenarios that the characters went through. Recommend!

This was such an intriguing story concept. Elliot was diagnosed with leukemia as a teenager and the night before she was scheduled to have a stem cell transplant, she meets a man and shares a life changing kiss, uncertain if they'll ever cross paths again. One year later, she sees him again in the most unexpected way--- he was the boyfriend of the woman who had donated her stem cells! And all that chemistry that they'd shared was still there. Like I said, intriguing, right? To be clear, there is no cheating in this story, and it really didn't give off too many love triangle vibes at all. Complicated, yes, but I thought the author did a great job of making it all work. It was a cute story with great chemistry that kept me invested from start to finish.

If Tomorrow Never Comes is a closed-door/fade to black romance, but things do get a little steamy before ultimately fading out. There is also quite a bit of language, to include multiple uses of the f-word and as such, might not be for all readers.

**ARC received via Netgalley for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Allison Ashley is an auto-buy for me. She has this amazing ability to harness passion AND a deep understanding of two characters. This creates the best romance novel ever. Her latest is about a woman named Elliott, whose life is literally on the line as she tries a stem cell transplant. The night before the procedure, she lets herself live a little--and meets her soul mate in the process. But she doesn't know if she'll even be alive in a month, and she'll certainly be in no condition to be going on dates. So she says goodbye to him... that is, until a year later, when healthy and doing well, she meets him again, and of course, he's the boyfriend of her new friend. Sparks fly (of course). This is a wonderful, heart-felt romance. Even having read it on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, I'll be buying a copy for my bookshelf!

I am BLOWN away at how much I loved this story (I really shouldn't be because I've loved every Allison Ashley book I've read). Obsessed is not a big enough word to describe my admiration of it. I will say I was putting off reading it because love triangles aren't normally my thing, but the second I started reading, I couldn't put it down!

Elliot has been a cancer patient for most of her adult life and in less than 24 hours is undergoing a life-saving procedure thanks to the generocity of an anonymous bone marrow donor. For her last night before undergoing months of gruesome treatment, she sits at alone at a bar, where she meets Jamie. The two spend an incredible night together, but since Elliot knows that come tomorrow her life is drastically changing, she leaves Jamie with only her middle name and no promises of ever seeing each other again. A year later, Elliot gets to meet with the donor that saved her life- a stunning, charismatic woman who she'll never be able to thank enough, and is surprised when she also meets that donor's boyfriend- Jamie.

Whew- this story was beyond captivating and sucked me in immediately. I ADORED every single character and for it being a taboo/ love-triangle plot, it was very low drama and angst. The entire book was so wholesome and I can't wait for everyone else to get the chance to read this one!

- love triangle
- dual POV
- friends to lovers
- second chance-ish
- taboo relationship
- cancer patient representation
- golden retriever mmc
- right person, wrong time

Thank you SO SO much Allison Ashley and NetGalley for the advance copy!

Thank you netgalley for the eArc.

3.5 rounded up.

Elliott is a very likeable character from the beginning and the character development is fun to watch. Jamie and Elliott meet right before a major life changing event.

Without giving away too much, this book is heartbreaking and wonderful all at the same time. The journey to finding happiness is always about taking the risks that seem too far away.

Definitely recommend to those looking for a second chance romance and a love story that keeps on giving.

Read if you like: second chance romance, forbidden romance, forced proximity, the one that got away

The night before Elliott gets a stem cell transplant to treat her leukemia she meets Jamie, and after a perfect night, she leaves him. A year later, Elliott meets her donor and they become friends, only to find out that her donor is dating Jamie. The one she let go and hasn’t stopped thinking about.

I wasn’t feeling this book. I wasn’t connecting to any of the characters and I wasn’t rooting for the two to get together. I thought this book was very long and there was nothing exciting about it.

Overall I think it was fine, just forgettable. For such an intriguing blurb, the book itself was a disappointment. Where’s the angst? The OW drama??

Thank you Montlake and NetGalley for this ARC ☺️

Elliot & Jamie ❤️

🏥Twenty something Elliot’s in Omaha, Nebraska the night before her bone marrow transplant operation is scheduled, and she leaves the hotel where she’s staying with her parents, and sits next to a guy in a bar.

🪻Arborist Jamie’s date never shows up, and he invites Elliot (who only told him her second name) to join the cooking class he had booked.

🌸A year later, Elliot moves to Omaha to start her cancer-free life, launch her graphic design business but when she connects with her donor, she finds out Carly’s boyfriend is the same Jamie she has never forgotten.

✏️I have read all of Allison Ashley’s previous stories and was thrilled at the chance to read the ARC of her latest. I struggled to put Elliot and Jamie’s story down. It’s not a typical romance and the ethics definitely get blurred but I was rooting for our couple to conquer the obstacles. I loved the supporting characters- Elliot’s best friend, her parents and Jamie’s very typical older sister Blythe. A strong read 💕

Five shining stars!

If Tomorrow Never Comes is one of the most moving, most heartmelting and most heartbreaking but hopeful books I have ever read. Elliot and Jamie's story is definitely one for the books - and it's written perfectly. I cried so much, both sad tears and happy ones, but also laughed (the text messages - top-notch banter!) and had such a wonderful time reading this book I am still basking in the afterglow of having experienced it all. Thank you so much Allison Ashley and Montlake for the ARC and happy Christmas everyone!

I really can't understand why I'm writing this review and I say this very unfortunately but I didn't love this one. The biggest problem for me was the writing. It was off. Having read and loved the author's two other books I didn't expect this to be a problem at all since I usually really enjoy it but this one was just so...weird? it really put it off. I could see the potential of the book but that's it.

The night before her stem cell transplant, Elliott meets Jamie and has a fun night that ends in a kiss. When they part ways Jamie has no idea of what Elliot is about to go through, A year later Jamie. who is now in remission, moves to the same city as her donor. Carly When Jamie and Elliott meet again, he is introduced to her as Carly's boyfriend.
I loved this book. It is so well written, and the chemistry between the two main characters literally jumps off the page. It took me for an emotional rollercoaster in the best way. You don't want to miss Elliott and Jamie's story. Please read this!!

I absolutely loved the way Jamie and Elliott met, they clearly had chemistry. Extremely sweet story, with a heavy subject matter that was not overwhelming.

Read if you like a:

- a little love triangle, sort of
-closed door romance

The path to true love never was easy for
besotted arborist (read: professional tree climber) Jamie Sullivan who's still reeling from May - the one who got away.

Down-on-her-luck but fierce Elliot Holland is moving on from antiseptic wards and onto a new city to forget old scars and thank her donor.

As fate would have it, however, the man she was convinced is the love of life happens to be the boyfriend of her donor whose cells quite literally run through her...

The story fell a little flat for me. Don't get me wrong it's a cute read really and although I don't appreciate all the Starbucks promotion this book got, it wasn't a bad read just very forgettable...

I don't quite understand the point of this book's existence? Very odd thing to say.... I liked the story but what was the point? the moral of the story as they'd say? Unsure.

The romance was wholesome yes despite it being an insta love and the banter was present but I just do not understand the very point of the book??? (a confusing but amusing problem to have haha)

Elliott doesn't know if she'll have a tomorrow and lives in the moment when she shares a passionate kiss with Jamie. One year on and Jamie's cancer is in remission. She is stunned when she meets her donor Carly as her boyfriend is none other than Jamie. Both are shocked to see each other and all the old feelings are still there...

What a super sweet story this was! Don't get me wrong, I'm usually the first to say that insta love isn't my thing but the connection was so strong with these two that I feel like I may have to be a convert now! Jamie was such a perfect guy and the romance between the two was swoonworthy. Such an emotional journey - my romance reader friends, you'll love this one!

This was a really thoughtful book and I enjoyed Elliot's story. Elliott meets the potential man of her dreams the night before a significant medical procedure. They don't exchange contact info. Fast forward year and she's moved to the city where she met the dream guy. And it turns out he's taken by a woman who helped save her life. What do you do in that e scenario? It's not a love triangle, but it really does grapple with ethics and morals and trying to make the right decision. And all of that's st war with this incredible connection. And weave in the fear of recurrence that comes with health concerns. It adds up to a book that really digs into balancing out what we think we should do (usually prioritizing others perceived needs) with what we want to do (which sometimes can feel selfish). I really enjoyed Elliot and Jamie's slow friendship to lovers romance as they worked through their concerns and attraction.

Thanks to the publisher for sharing a copy. All opinions are my own.

Elliot and Jaime meet the night before she undergoes a bone marrow transplant. Elliot wants one night where she doesn't have to be herself and can live for the moment. The connect and Jaime wants to see her again but she doesn't want to ruin the moment. One year later they run into each other again this time with Jaime's new girlfriend who also happens to be Elliot's bone marrow donor. I liked this story but wasn't really as invested in either character as I would've liked to be. The writing was fine and the pace was good I just wasn't all that concerned with what happened to either of the main characters. Would still recommend and giving 3 stars. I want to thank NetGalley and Montlake for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
