A slow burn thriller that will keep you guessing up to the end! I tried to guess the ending and I was very wrong.
Thanks Netgalley for the advanced reader copy.

It has been awhile since a book has thrown me as much as this one did. I thought I had it all figured out, and I was very wrong. The authors did a good job going back and forth between present and past, and then wrapping it all up in the end. Some of the middle did drag a little for me, but it was needed and made the ending worth it!

After reading The Last Girl Left, I had to read this one! And I am so glad I did!! Anna got herself in a sketchy situation and has lost her memory. The suspense is real! What is happening around her, who can she trust, who is who they say they are? And woah! This one is shocking and had me fooled! If you like surprising suspense, you have to read this one!

The amnesia thriller trope is somewhat overdone but this is a pretty good one. It was full of tension and is one of those you'll finish in one sitting like I did. This book definitely drives home the point of there is always more than meets the eye!

Wow! The authors have done a fantastic job with tension and pace in this edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller. I clenched my jaw and held my breath with each new page.
The main character, Anna, wakes up on the water's edge of a lake in the middle of a snowstorm, and she has no recollection of who she is or how she got there. Stumbling in the cold, she finds the nearest house and is taken in by a handsome stranger. (No, you haven’t heard this story before, I promise!)
The chilly and isolated location raises the scare factor, while relationships and trust are the underlying themes, and how we’ll go to any lengths to protect or hurt those closest to us.
This is an addictive read. It’s so fast-paced you’ll have trouble putting it down to eat, sleep or do life. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, boom! There’s a plot twist and another that will keep you guessing to the very end.
I really enjoyed this book, thank you :)

This psychological thriller grabs your attention from the very first page, weaving a complex and suspenseful narrative that keeps you hooked until the final twist. The story begins with the protagonist, “A,” waking up soaking wet on the edge of a lake in the dead of winter, with no memory of who she is or how she got there. Her only refuge is a house in the distance, where she meets Gregg, a seemingly kind man who takes her in. But as time goes on, unsettling events begin to unravel, leaving both the protagonist and the reader questioning the truth.
Despite initial reservations about the familiar amnesia trope, this book transcends expectations. It deftly plays with the psychological tension of memory loss, raising the stakes with each chapter. The remote setting—a house isolated by a blizzard—heightens the feeling of unease, as the protagonist is cut off from the outside world, with no cell service, internet, or landline. The looming question of whether Gregg is truly trustworthy keeps the suspense alive.
The plot is masterfully paced, with small details building up to an explosive and satisfying reveal. Readers praised the atmosphere as a standout feature, likening it to the chilling, claustrophobic feeling of being lost in the wilderness. While some found the twist slightly implausible, the emotional weight of betrayal and manipulation adds depth to the narrative. The writing itself is polished, with alternating perspectives that flow seamlessly, enhancing the story without jarring transitions.
Though some minor quirks, like the double “g” in Gregg’s name, may catch readers off guard, the story’s strength lies in its ability to keep you guessing until the very end. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with a gripping plot, unexpected twists, and a strong atmospheric setting, this book is for you.
Highly recommended for fans of edge-of-your-seat thrillers who love being kept on their toes right up to the last page!

I was almost put off from this story because of the amnesia angle but I’m glad I read it anyway. I know we’re all tired of that trope, but this book elevates it to another level. The amnesiac in question is a woman who wakes up half-frozen on a lake shore with no memory except vague recollections of being in the water. She has a head injury and possible concussion but makes it to a house on the lake for assistance and abruptly passes out when a man opens the door. His name is Gregg cares for her while she recovers as a blizzard has stranded them from civilization – mainly a hospital and/or police station. He seems nice enough, cooking her meals and making sure she relaxes as her body heals. But she can’t help feeling that something is off.
Sure, they’re in a remote area, but is there really no cell service, no landline, and no internet, and no snow plow this entire time? And would the bridge to town really need to be completely rebuilt because of the storm? She has no choice but to trust him. But she swears she hears noises in the house, and he always has an excuse handy. And if not, he blames her condition and the unknown trauma she suffered. So, it comes down to whether she can trust herself more than she trusts him and what she might discover if she goes hunting for answers.
You’ll be expecting more to this story than meets the eye and there sure is. I think the reveal is pulled off wonderfully and is just the sort of twist readers will be looking for. The only thing that bothered me is that Gregg’s name is spelled with two letter ‘g’s at the end. Who would envision that when hearing the name ‘Greg’? It’s much more common to have one ‘g’ at the end and it’s not like he writes it down or says, “Gregg with two g’s.” Just a little nitpick but I’d expect his character to point that out.
I definitely recommend this book and think anyone who reads it will be pleasantly surprised!

Adria and Peter are in a rough patch in their marriage, I guess things can get tough when you suspect your husband is a con man and a murderer. When she’s caught snooping around, everything goes black and Adria wakes up with no memory at all.
Because women in thrillers tend to make very stupid decisions, she decides to stay with the handsome stranger all alone in his big house. As expected, weird things start happening soon, like she’s being watched and someone is in the house with them. As expected she also trusts Gregg (handsome stranger) a little too much and ignores all the red flags (there are many).
Can’t tell you my absolute favourite part of the book cause it would spoil everything. But let’s just say that I loved being manipulated during 80% of the book, the feeling of betrayal once the bomb is dropped is absolutely delicious. That’s what we want in a thriller.
Just like in The last girl left, the atmosphere is probably the best part, I too wanna get lost in a lake house in the middle of nowhere (ok maybe not).

What truly sets this novel apart is how it deftly explores themes of identity and trust. As heroine unravels the mysteries of her own past and Gregg’s intentions, you’ll find yourself questioning every shadow and every character’s motives. The authors craft a narrative that’s as psychologically complex as it is thrilling, with twists that will leave you breathless. Every turn holds a new revelation. This book is a masterclass in building tension and keeping readers guessing until the very last page. If you enjoy a good, dark mystery with plenty of twists, this is a must-read.

I liked this book right from the moment I read the title! This book is a multifaceted mystery along the lines of the Glass Onion style. The main character is largely an unknown because she does not know who she is or how she ended up on the edge of the lake. Everyone she encounters from that point is also an unknown because you just don't know whether to take them at face value. And her dreams may be memories or may be her mind's way of dealing with the situation she is in. This is an exciting and scary story with an ending that you don't see coming! I love a tale that completely surprises me, and this one definitely does! I also enjoyed that she was reading about the history of the area and that these elements were woven into the story. Superb writing!

I absolutely loved the last girl left so I was excited when I saw this book. And this book had me hooked from the very beginning. This psychological thriller was absolutely amazing and I ate it up- page after page I just had to know what happened.
When "A" wakes up soaking wet on the edge of a lake in mid winter she remembers absolutely nothing. She has no idea who is or where she is. She can see a house in the distance she knocks on the door and is met with a man. He takes her in and helps her but, nothing is as it seems. day after day her memory still doesn't come back and when strange things are happening around the house-can she trust the man who has been helping her?
thank you to the publishers and netgalley for this ARC!

A claustrophobic domestic thriller with clever twists!
Set upon a remote lakeside village during a winter snowstorm; our protagonist 'A' wakes up with a head injury on the edge of the water. She sees a light on through the trees and takes refuge from a local man. With no recollections of her identity or past, she tries hazily to piece together what led her here. Danger looms on the horizon but she doesn't know who she can trust. Is someone lurking in the darkness or is her paranoia getting the best of her?
I loved the setup and chilly location of this story. From the first line, you are hooked with a foreboding sense of danger. The story intercuts between the present and the past; where you find out who 'A' is and that her marriage is not as rosy as she thought. Without divulging too much; it moves between moments of suspense and cat-and-mouse chases leading to an unexpected climax! It was a fun read!
Thank you Thomas & Mercer for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Gravewater Lake tells the story of 'A' who survives an accident in a lake with no memory. She reaches a house where a man, Gregg, offers to take her in and help her. Soon enough, 'A' starts to realise not everything is what it seems....
This novel is told from the POV of 'A' as she starts to remember her past as she uncovers the mysteries in the house she's staying. I didn't see the twist coming...!!

Super quick and fun read! Thought I had things figured out from the beginning but kept thinking "there has to be more, there has to be something else going on here!" and sure enough, crazy good twist at the end! The twist did feel a little implausible but nothing to really detract from the overall read.
The writing is polished and the story flows smoothly. The alternating perspectives between characters were smooth and didn't leave me lurching. Definitely an enjoyable read!

This story is told from the FMC POV. The FMC wakes up with no memories of who she is. She stumbles upon a man who gives her a place to stay. Read this amazing book to find out why she’s lost all her memories and who this stranger is.
This book is interesting from start to finish. I was shocked by the plot twist and wasn’t expecting it. I really liked this book. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for this free ARC in exchange for an honest rating and review.

A woman wakes on the shore of a remote lake in the middle of the night with no memory of who she is or how she ended up near the lake. She finds a house nearby with a handsome stranger, Gregg, and the mystery begins.
The synopsis on this on is deliberately brief and I can't reveal more without spoilers. Suffice to say this was not what I was expecting and it had plenty of twists and turns to keep me engaged. It was my first by the authors and I look forward to reading more.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Thomas and Mercer for this gifted review copy.

I really did not see the ending coming. It definitely had an interesting twist, but I am not sure that I loved where the twist went.

She wakes on the shore of a remote lake in the middle of the night, freezing and afraid. With no memory of who she is or how she got there, she stumbles frantically toward the lights of a house. The handsome stranger who lives there is shocked to see a woman on his doorstep and takes her in! Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, a fantastic who done it that I did not see coming! and a few crazy twists and turns. The story was interesting! I definitely recommend reading this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
