I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a wonderful book. I enjoyed reading it so much!
This book was a DNF for me. I tried really hard to connect, but couldn't. However, just because it wasn't for me, doesn't mean that others won't like it. I won't be adding reviews anywhere else so that the author can find her audience.
A super cute escapist romance set in a small town in Scotland. Very fun to read. Loved all the side characters and interesting stories. Skye was not your usual flawed lead character and her story was a joy to read.
Unfortunately a dnf for me. It was really a sloooow burn for me. Nothing interesting happened at all. I really struggled to get through this book.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.
I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity.
Sweet and smart with a unforgettable main cast. Cute setting too .
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book! Unfortunately it was a DNF for me. I was really excited for this one, especially because of the smalltown Scotland vibes! However, this story took too long for me to get into and I often found myself confused with the POV's and all the side characters.
That being said, if you love Scotland, characters who help each other in their time of need and multiple storylines, you might still enjoy this one!
I want to start by thanking the author and publisher for the opportunity to read an advance copy of the book. Unfortunately, this was a DNF. I found the story extremely slow and hard to get in to. The story just took a really long time to get going.
I thought this was a cute story with fun characters. I did feel like the pacing was really slow, especially because it felt like there were two main storylines with several POVs. I liked each story on their own, but together it just felt too cluttered.
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this book! It was fun to escape to Scotland and follow the characters to see just how many love stories would turn out in the end.
This was one of the longest books I’ve read. I kept thinking one part was going to end then it just stopped that part and went to someone new. There were not a lot of characters to warrant a story to take so long. Skye, Bear, Paolo, Holly and Clooe. Oh and Hammish but really this could have been half as long and still told the whole story.
I enjoyed this book. What a fun cast of characters. Scotland was another character in this book. Really enjoyed.
When Skye’s perfect life in London falls apart, she escapes to the small coastal town of Eastercraig in Scotland to heal. Upon arrival, she encounters Bear, a ruggedly handsome stranger who isn’t welcoming. Determined to settle in, Skye finds a close-knit group of friends, but it’s Bear who catches her attention despite his gruff exterior. As their paths cross more often, Skye discovers a connection that makes her heart flutter. Can she let go of her past and embrace a second chance at love in this charming town? This sweet romance is a delightful tale of new beginnings and unexpected love.
A lovely book about a woman escaping after a shocking discovery leads to a panic attack. She heads to the town her uncle lives in which is where she escaped to during rough teenage years. She finds herself relaxing and making friends and more. I enjoyed the characters and story.
Personally, this book was hard to get into and confusing. It was hard for me to tell whose POV I was reading each chapter, and ended up DNF-ing the book at 25% for this reason only. It does not feel fair to give this book a poor rating based on that, so I am including a few things I did I did like about it:
-the setting in Scotland
-the willingness of strangers to help out Skye in her time of need, and immediately accepting her as a friend/ trying to make her feel welcome
-the backstory on why she ran off in the first place
-I feel that Skye is a relatable character. Having been through a “wild phase” but buckling down later on, and getting overwhelmed and running away are all things I related to.
Not just the story of Skye and Bear, but also Hamish and Paolo. Will the two pairs get together? A fab.setting, makes me want to go and visit.
Because of you by Katherine Turner is a slow-paced and character-led romance. Readers who enjoy a cosy read will like this.
Loved this romance! It was definitely very familiar with the tropes but I was able to enjoy it all the way through.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!
What a great romcom!! This is a first for me by this author but will not be my last. It was such a cute story! The writing style is great and I loved the characters chemistry.
This was a cute, sweet novel about a young woman learning to forgive herself for past misdeeds & learn to follow her heart. I loved the Scottish setting & cast of quirky but loveable characters. Definitely going to look for more from this author!
Skye takes off to Eastercraig to see her uncle after the worst day ever. She walked out of her law exam after a major panic attack and say her boyfriend, aka senior partner at her firm, macking on another women. Heading to her one safe place, her Uncle’s. Only her Uncle isn’t there. Thankfully his staff of incredibly kind people take pity on her and offer her a place to stay. Skye finds friends and romance away from her bustling city life. But can Skye live in Eastercraig for ever or will city life call her back?
This was an interesting story with a heavy emphasis on found family. I truly loved the kindness this group showed Skye in her time of need. All around a very cute story.
