"The Bachelorette Party" was an interesting thriller, and I liked the serial killer investigation. The setting was done really well. The pace was a bit slow in places. It was an okay read.
The narrator's Australian accent for the boyfriend was not good at all. It was distractingly bad.

I couldn't have asked for a more twisted story than "The Bachelorette Party." Alex's passion for serial killers adds thrilling excitement to the audiobook experience. Her friends deserve applause for infusing this eerie element into her celebration. As for the party itself, you'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds!
Sharing Alex's fascination with serial killers and haunted houses, I was as thrilled as she was about her bachelorette party. It's one of the most original and gripping ideas I've come across. The audiobook narrator's skill at building suspense and sending shivers down my spine at all the right moments is commendable. The ending, as twisted as a mountain road, is full of unexpected twists that keep you engaged. However, there was something that didn't quite click with me, and I'm still figuring out why it fell short of a five-star rating for me.

Alex lives and breathes true crime and wants to be a crime reporter. She goes on a get away bachelorette party with her best friends to the Catskills and they stay at a cabin where a gruesome murder took place.
When Alex wakes from a nap, she is covered in blood and her friends are missing. What happened? Who's blood is out? Will Alex find her friends, can she find anyone to help her?
I enjoyed this book and gave it a strong 3 stars.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.
The Bachelorette Party was an absolute wild ride of a book.
In this duo timeline story, we follow Alex, a true crime reporter. In the past she investigates an old murder case where she thinks the convicted killer may not have done it. In the present she goes to celebrate her bachelorette party with her friends and wakes up in the middle of the night to find them missing.
This story had some interesting parts, I enjoyed the true crime enthusiast part of it, as well as the investigating an old case storyline. There were a lot of red herrings in the story, which felt a bit like lazy storytelling. Also, the end was so twisted and not in a good way.
The audiobook was ok, but I did feel like some of the voices were grating, particularly the bad Aussie accent for the fiancé.
3 stars
I tried my best with this and gave it about 40% of the way in before I stopped listening. The plot was too outlandish and too much time was spent having the MC wander the woods. I did then find a plot synopsis and am glad I didn't continue reading because I definitely wouldn't have been a fan.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I have mixed feelings on this one. The summary gave me really high hopes. However the book itself was a bit confusing and hard to follow for at least the first half. I found myself re starting it several times.
I will say the ending was a surprising turn of events for sure and not expected.
Great narration.
Overall an ok book.
This was a wild captivating story- full of twists I didn’t see coming. The girls said it would be an adventure for Alex’s bachelorette party and I can say it was a terrifying adventure!! It was not scary just thrilling, mystery, twisty. The book is told in dual timeline of present and 6 months earlier. If you love true crime, mystery podcast, murder mysteries or a good engaging thriller this book is perfect.
I enjoyed THE BACHELORETTE PARTY. It was told in dual timelines which kept me entertained. The story had some surprises that I didn't see coming and it had a pretty good twist at the end. I would recommend it to those you enjoy a mystery that keeps you thinking until the very last page. This is the second book I've read by Sandra Block and I really like her style. I'll be reading more from her in the future.
Many thanks for my gifted audiobook.
I will be sharing my review next week to my Instagram account (@coffee.break.book.reviews).
Alex, an intern on an investigative news program and true crime enthusiast, goes on a bachelorette weekend with her friends to a haunted hunting lodge connected to a famous serial killer. After a blizzard traps them in, Alex wakes up to find her friends murdered and fears the killer from her recent prison interview is responsible. Cut off from help, Alex must rely on her knowledge of true crime to solve the case and uncover a shocking truth.
This book had a slow pace, alternating between past and present timelines. The constant back and forth made it challenging to follow, and I found it difficult to stay engaged. There were several plot holes, which left me feeling unsatisfied. However, I did appreciate the intriguing premise of the story and the eerie, isolated setting of being snowed in without cell service.
The ending was particularly strange, especially the events that unfolded in the cabin. I was shocked to discover that everything had been intentional. It was a bizarre twist that I never saw coming.
Despite its slow flow, the audiobook was well done. The narrator did a commendable job considering the complexity of the material. However, I believe a more dynamic narrator could have brought more life to the story and kept the audience more engaged.
Thank you, HighBridge Audio for an audiobook ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I listened to this entire audiobook in one day! It’s addictive. I wish the prank ending didn’t happen as I felt it took away from the story. The timeline jumps were easy to follow and makes for mini cliffhanger moments throughout.
Alex, the bride-to-be and true-crime lover, is researching the 666 murderer for an upcoming episode of Crime Line. Her besties, Melody and Lainey, take her to stay at the ranch where the murder took place a decade ago for her bachelorette! Then things take a turn for the worse.
Thank you NetGalley, High Bridge Audio, and Sandra Block for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This is a seriously creepy book, as a young woman decides to spend her bachelorette weekend had at an isolated lodge where a violent murder once took place. It’s all fun and games until Alex wakes up and discovers. Her friends are missing. Their sleeping bags are covered in blood and so are Alex‘s hands. Has the time she’s spent interviewing the actual killer changed something fundamental in Alex? Is she to blame for what happened to her friends? Intense and impossible to put down
I listened to this as an audiobook. I must admit, I had a hard time keeping focus on this book while it was playing. I’m not usually a harsh reviewer, but struggled through this one. Usually I can’t listen to thriller audiobooks fast enough, but I feel like this one really drug. The alternating time frames did help a bit though.
Additionally, several parts of the audiobook didn’t make much sense to me. In terms of the narration- I really disliked the narration of the old woman. I think it was fine for Alex though. The main character wasn’t very likable and I found her to be quite foolish. Her solution to her dreams, interviewing the killers, her fiancés son.. all of it had me wondering what on earth Alex was thinking. Also she has the worst friends ever. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen and review.
The Bachelorette Party by Sandra Block and narrated by Lexi May. The story begins with Mel, Lany the bachelorette Alex all heading to a surprise location which winds up being the murder cabin of the 666 killer. Alex is engaged to perfect Jay and is an intern for prime time a true crime show I believe it’s a TV show. She’s researching the killer Eric who claims to be innocent and despite being an intern she even has a shot at interviewing him on the show, but it’s all up to her manager Toby. The story goes back-and-forth between the bachelorette party and her in the recent pass researching the killer and life with perfect J. The night of the party they smoke a little weed just like the original murder victims did in the next morning when Alex wakes up big tall Mel and little short Lany are missing. For a brief moment Alex sees the blood on her hands and slumber bags and believes she may have even been the one to kill her two best friends but she gets all her wits together and her True Crime knowledge and sets out to see if she could find her friends or at the very least help. It’s around this point that me and the book started to part ways it got so very ridiculous although the twist do come and trust me when I say they do have twist there just not the kind that leave you going OMG but instead you’re going WTF? I knew in the beginning of the story when they tell us that 4 foot 11 Laney was a working actress that they were going to be stretching reality for the reader but the whole thing with her friends and then when she’s reminiscing about Mal and the good times she says remember the week Mel satin her room and we got her therapy… Yes because that sounds like a blast. This book was just out of the box and although the narrator Lexi Mae had a nice voice I don’t think it’s one made for audiobooks. #NetGalley,#HighbridgeAudio, #SandraBlock, #TheBacheloretteParty, #LexiMay,
The Bachelorette Party is an entertaining popcorn thriller with multiple twists and turns. It was a fast paced read, filled with action from start to finish. There's definitely things that kept me guessing until the end while others were pretty predictable.
Now the characters were a little all over the place for me as the plot. I felt like I was missing some resolution for certain plot points to get the full excitement. Although it is still a fun ride through and through, it will definitely keep you entertained from start to finish.
The final twist or conclusion was not what I was expecting, I wished it did go in a different direction, but that's just me !
🎧 The narration by Lexi Mae was good. I just would've liked more of a direction as to the characters, since there were a lot, it was sometimes confusing to follow, and I had to listen again. But her performance was good.
✨️Thank you to @netgalley, @booksparks, @highbridgeaudio & @sandrablockauthor for my gifted copy & ALC in exchange for an honest review.
Sooo I actually liked the book, for the exception of the ending. I felt like it was really underwhelming and I was disappointed honestly. I got confused at times but I still have it 4/5 because it was still good imo!
The bachelorette party
Alex is getting married to Jay and per tradition, a bachelorette party is in the works. However, this party is just with a few friends. Her friends Laney and Melody plan a true crime themed event, centered around Alex’s obsession with the 666 serial killer.
But do they go too far when they plan a night at one of the lodges where the 666 killer murdered one of their victims?? The weather takes a turn and they get snowed in.
The story jumps between present day and 6 months previously leading up to the party. There is also back and forth between I think a podcast ? Or true crime show. You see Alex in action as she interviews the 666 killer who swears he is innocent and the killer is still out there.
Back to present day, Alex’s friends question if she’s sure about the wedding and if she is sure it’s the real thing. It was a whirlwind romance. The first night it’s revealed from Alex’s perspective that she has tendency to have horrible nightmares, sleep walk, or perform injurious tasks when she sleeps.
Alex wakes up to her friends gone and blood all over the lodge, which makes her wonder- is the 666 killer still out there and targeting her? Alex has to survive the weather, the threat, and use her true crime skills to try and discover what happened to her friends and save them if she can.
I found the narrator to be was expressive and did a nice job switching voices, listened at 2.5 x.
I got a bit confused between timelines and characters. For me, the story was exciting but just okay. Didn’t expect the twist, liked the unreliable narrator perspective and mystery. The plot was pretty disjointed to me, I would read more from the author and give another chance, this one just wasn’t my favorite.
Thank you to NetGalley and RBMedia for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. Release date 9/3/24!
This struck me as a young adult book. The writing was subpar, the characters unlikeable and the narrator sounded like a teen. Was expecting a lot more from Sandra Block.
I listened to the audio version of this book and I just want to know who decided to hire a narrator that did such horrible accents. One of the main characters is Australian and she BUTCHERED his accent. It was so distracting that sometimes I had to go back and listen again because I missed what was going on. There was also a Long Island accent at one point that was equally as awful.
Also, there were online conversations that were a little hard to follow in audio version, so I think this would have been better as a physical read. That isn't saying much though, because the story wasn't great either.
I loved the idea of the "did he or didn't he" with the man arrested for the 666 killings. I could have seen it going either way, so I was on board. Other than that, the only other thing I liked was the cover.
The entire ending was so ridiculous. I can't really say much without spoilers; even talking around the spoilers will give some stuff away. It was so over the top and dramatic and some of it was super predictable.
Overall, I feel cheated.
The story itself was fast paced. There were some things that felt spooky throughout the book. I wasn’t a big fan of the ending.
Narration was good.
