Lee Child's Safe Enough is a compelling short story that delves into the life of Wolfe, an electrician whose affair with a wealthy suburban wife leads to unforeseen consequences. Child masterfully builds tension as Wolfe navigates the complexities of his risky relationship, highlighting the stark contrasts between his urban roots and the suburban world he becomes entangled in. The narrative's suspenseful progression and unexpected twists make it a gripping read from start to finish. If you're a fan of concise, impactful storytelling with a

Decent collection of short stories. Not all of them caught my attention fully but they were still interesting. The narrator did a good job.

A collection of short stories is always hard to review, because some are better than others. Unfortunately, even the good ones are forgettable.

Excellent short stories by Lee Child. Each one showcasing how skillfully he weaves a tale. Love the bite size stories with a creepy edge!

This collection of short stories were fun. I do wish some of them were longer and developed into longer stories as some of them really captured my attention. Body guard was one such story that grabbed my attention.

These short stories are so different than Lee’s longer novels (Reacher series), but I really enjoyed them. It’s so hard to do much character development in a short story, which is one thing I love about Lee’s novels. Yet some of the stories took me by surprise how powerful they could be with such little content. I loved the surprise endings of some of the stories. This was great to listen to on my commute to and from work since I could finish a couple stories on each drive and not forget where the story last ended when I got back in the car after a long day of work. This may not draw you in the same way a Reacher story would, but it’s still good entertainment and often thought-provoking. It was well worth my time listening to it.

Having been a Reacher fan and subsequently a Lee Child fan (or is it the other way around?) for several years, it was fun and refreshing to enjoy some of Child’s short stories. I could definitely see the author’s style in the works, but they didn’t scream Reacher as one might have thought they would, being that the names Reacher and Child are so nearly interchangeable. Great collection of shorts. I highly recommend.

This set of short stories does not include Child’s most famous character, Jack Reacher but if you enjoy reading about that world.. about investigating about the seedy global crime world , about shady individuals with nefarious intent, you’ll enjoy these bite size stories. Perfect if you’ve never read the novels.

There is a great introduction to the role of short stories in an authors portfolio and the storyteller does an excellent job conveying gravitas and creating intrigue. Each one is just the perfect length to peak and hold interest with enough details to really paint the picture and likely you’ll wish some were longer.

The stories were quiet interesting even though some were predictable. It was a good audiobook and the narrator was great.

I thought this book was okay but not entirely captivating. It was my first audiobook so maybe that is why but I did think that the story where the woman being guarded saved the bodyguard could have made for a fantastic story.

I always enjoy stories by Lee Child. These were fantastic short stories. I liked them all but Safe Enough was probably my favorite. Highly recommend.

Thank you NetGalley and HighBridge Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

Twenty thrilling crime short stories. Quick and easy read filled with tons of action and suspense. The narrator was expressive, easy to follow, and brought the characters to life. Every story is well crafted and each was better than the last.
Many thanks to NetGally, HighBridge Audio, Lee Child, and Edoardo Ballerini for sharing the audiobook ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had not read anything by this author but knew he wrote the Jack Reacher series that people seem to love. This was a book of short stories and while it entertained me I confess I wanted more -the narrator did a good job!

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC in audiobook format.

I also reviewed this novel in written format. I enjoyed the audio version of this book slightly more than the written version, skilled narration would have bumped up my review 1/2 a star if half star ratings were possible, to 4.5 out of 5 stars . The excellent narration added depth to this story.

It is interesting when bestselling authors stretch their already highly recognized talent in new arenas. Short stories are not Lee Childs' standard fare, however it wasn't his divergence regarding format that keeps this book from being great. The initial stories in this collection are stellar, but then Childs veers from his tried and true more familiar storylines into different territory and those stories fell slightly short of the mark for me.

However the early stories were great. If you are a Lee Childs fan, this book is a must read ,(and I suggest you give this audio format a listen).

This is a collection of short stories by Lee Child, the author of the wildly popular Jack Reacher series. However, as other series authors have done, these collected stories expand on the author's talents and don't include their best-known character.

I had mixed feelings about these stories. While they were interesting stories, they didn't really grab me. I was able to predict the "surprise" endings on several of the stories. I usually try to stay in the moment and not guess what's going to happen, but several were very predictable. The characters also seemed really bland and faceless. It was sometimes hard to tell when a story ended and the next one began. And finally, the writing seemed very noir to me. Everyone talked in short sentences. The language seemed like a bunch of goodfellas or gumshoes talking.

For me, having read the quality of Child's Jack Reacher books and going to these, it was definitely a step down. I think that if these were someone's first exposure to Lee Child, they might be OK with them, but I'm not totally positive about that either.

This novel is a collection of 20 short stories by Lee Child that I enjoyed listening too while I multitasked. Each mini story was well crafted with good character development for a short story.

The narrator was really good, his articulation and expressiveness really brought the characters to life in these short stories.

Thank you RBMedia and Netgalley for the ALC.

This is a compilation of an assortment of rogue characters that is very enjoyable to read. All the stories are different and often had an ending that went a slightly different direction than I had anticipated. I liked the variety and I would love to see some of these fleshed out into a longer book. Me and Mr. Rafferty is a great example. I had read a couple of these before as Lee Child is an author I seldom pass over, and enjoyed them just as much the second time through.

Eduardo Ballerini does an excellent job of changing his reading style between stories so that all the characters don't end up sounding the same

This is a set of short stories written by one of my favorite authors, Lee Child. Every one is a bit different but yet, they all seem the same.

Some of these tales I enjoyed more than the others. Now, I am not a fan of short stories but this author is the reason I read these. But, towards the end of these stories, I was ready to move on. Like I always say…read it for yourself and form your own opinion.

The narrator, Edoardo Ballerini, did pretty well with all the different situations and voices.

This is my first read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised! Though I know of the character of Jack Reacher, I have not picked up any of the novels in that particular series and now that I have read Child's work, I am questioning why I haven't reached for his books earlier.

Safe Enough is a collection of short stories - 20 in total - that vary in themes but primarily centre around either investigating a crime or carrying out a crime. I had the opportunity to listen to these stories on audio where they were read by Edoardo Ballerini who was an excellent narrator...his voice and tone were perfect for bringing these stories to life.

I really enjoyed the various perspectives that the author wrote from, and in general I found the stories ranged from average to quite engaging. Though I had my favourites of the 20 short stories, the most enjoyable read of the bunch (to me) is the collection's namesake - Safe Enough - which is about a man who is from the Bronx and moves to the suburbs where things become a bit unhinged. Reading this short story collection was a good reminder that anthologies of this sort are a great addition to the reading experience!
