The Boyfriend is a quick read that will have you flying through the pages. This twisty thriller will have you guessing the entire time. Another great read for all the Freida Readers!

This Book was so fun to read, I read it quickly ---This was an addictive page turner! I inhaled this read. As in true Freida fashion, there was a great plot twist and this is one you should not miss from Freida.

Audio Book Review - Victoria Connelly and Adam Blandford narrate this comfortably and keep the pages gliding by! The suspense is endless and the tone of the narrators made that tangible. The location is always great to learn about and this one didn't disappoint.
The story itself was entertaining in a twisted, chilling kind of way which made for some disturbing thoughts throughout the book.

4.5 stars—Freida has done it again, everyone! I was on edge the whole time, trying to predict the twist, and just when I thought I’d figured it out, Freida pulled her classic move and turned everything upside down. This was such a gripping story that left me thinking about it days after finishing (still not over that ending, by the way!). Now, I’m counting down the days to The Crash—I already know I’m going to devour it.

And can we talk about those reviews calling this book “predictable”? There is no way anyone could’ve foreseen everything that unfolded. Freida, I’m a devoted fan, and I won’t hear a word against any of your books!

Let’s just say that if Freida publishes her grocery list I’m buying it!!!!! I ATE THIS ONE UP. I couldn’t stop once I started. Hooked from the very first chapter. Love the multiple POVs. I totally was not expecting that ending. I thought I had it figured out all along. Thank you for this Frieda l, NetGalley and poisoned pen!!!

As a woman, this one made me so uncomfy. I do not know another way to put it! Expect your repairman is doing sketchy stuff? Maybe he is! See that shadow on your walk home at night? Maybe it is an attacker! The whole book is basically how these ladies living in the city have to deal with the male ego while trying to just live their lives.

This kept me guessing and honestly that is all I ever want in a thriller. I have said this time and time again, but I enjoy thrillers that don't expect me to guess the ending and instead just introduce crazy things that turn it all upside down!

Thank you to Freida McFadden for writing a book that made me buy pepper spray for my walks downtown. Thank you for making me feel better about myself for not letting clearly bright red flags be okay in my life. Lastly, thank you for creating Sydney and her chaotic world that kept me reading far later than I should have every night.

Love love loved this audio book! So many twists and turns and what an honor to get it as an ARC. This is one of those books that you think you have figured out time and time again, but you sure don’t!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Another Freida McFadden book that kept me sitting in my car long after I had arrived. It was fun trying to figure out who did it all the way up to the very end. It's a little bit of a lackluster ending, though.

I really enjoyed this one! It was really fast paced and kept me guessing! I definitely did not figure it out! It’s about a woman that has a new boyfriend that seems wonderful - but strange things are happening. Who can she trust?

Dark (when it isn’t red from the blood that attracts the boyfriend in a compulsive way), tense, and unsettling, The Boyfriend is a well-crafted thriller from Frieda McFadden. I will disclose that I normally avoid serial killer fiction like the plague, but I made an exception for the author. McFadden’s ability to structure a complex story with psychological insight is admirable. She also has a wicked sense of humor; in this novel, she manages to make the worst aspects of online dating (even the vile practice of ‘negging’) seem funny -- I actually laughed aloud at the behavior of an overly persistent online suitor. Naturally most of us would resort to pepper spray and 911 in real life, but in fiction it was almost cathartic. The victims in the novel are mercifully allowed some complexity of character. Of note: McFadden’s handling of how people are willing to keep secrets in order to maintain even a difficult status quo. There are twists, but they don’t come at the loss of believable psychological complexity. Read it and talk it over with a friend -- then sign up for a self-defense course.

This was my first foray into the Freida-verse… I wanted to see what all the hype was about. And to be honest, I was let down. The story is mildly entertaining; this story being essentially about the perils of online dating and the danger of a serial killer… makes for page turning plot. But that’s about it. The writing itself is on an elementary school level and the dialogue is cheesy. It’s so simplistically written it takes away from the quality of the story itself. There’s a couple somewhat interesting plot twists, but the ending was underwhelming.

The best Freida McFadden I've ever read! The way the tension builds from a child murderer's eyes then jumps to the potential victim... EEEEK it's terrifying! I enjoyed the study in psychopathy presented by the younger perspective.

Of course, Freida NEVER fails! This is my 13th book by Frieda and I can not get enough! The Boyfriend has two changing timelines, the past and then present, and I could not figure out how they were going to connect, but when they did, I was shocked! I thought that I had figured it out, but of course, I was wrong. I liked how this book showed the perspective on how serious today's world is with On - Line - Dating and to make sure you are careful.
This was a fast paced book that I really enjoyed and the twists and turns were executed well. Thank you Freida McFadden, NetGalley and Dreamscape Select | Hollywood Upstairs Press for my advanced audio-book. I really enjoyed this one and can not wait for more!!

I loved it! In my opinion, this is one of Freida's best! Sydney is looking for Mr. Right when a close friend is murdered. The story is told from 3 points of view - Sydney, Tom (current day), & Tom (past). I listened to the audiobook. The narration was great. I could feel the fear or anger. I felt equally as surprised at the twists & turns! Great listen on a trip! (or read)

The queen of thrillers does it again. This story was good and of course I was one of those silly people that thought I knew who the mystery person was in the beginning and I was oh so wrong. This story had it all.

I’ve read a few thrillers by Freida McFadden, and The Boyfriend kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish!

Sydney is dating the man of her dreams, but she can’t shake the feeling that he may not be as perfect as he appears. The suspenseful plot had me guessing about the identity of the murderer right up until the very end. McFadden masterfully weaves in twists that I never saw coming, making the story all the more captivating.

This book is a thrilling ride that kept my interest piqued throughout. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a thriller!

The narration was done very well and I thank NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this book.

I have read most of Freoda's books, and The Boyfriend is one of my favorites!!

In this book a 34 year old, single New Yorker just wants to find her soul mate. After ending a long relationship and a really bad date later, she happens to bump into man that she feels "sparks" with. Will he be the man of her dreams, or another nightmare?

If she keeps writing thrillers like this one, then keep them coming!

The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden is pretty good. I deducted 2 stars because the FMC being mind-numbingly stupid even though she was written by a woman. How can Sydney be 34 and act the way she's portrayed? I much preferred hearing from Tom and the past. There was one twist I hoped would come to fruition, which would have massively improved the book, but it didn't happen. However, I didn't guess the bigger twists, which made me happy.

Victoria Connolly as Sydney and Adam Blanford as Tom both have a nice range that I enjoyed listening to.

Holy crap on a cracker, this book was insane and I mean that in the absolute BEST way! What a twist! You’ll be glued to your seat and there’s no way you’ll be able to predict the ending.
