I just see Gemma Rogers's name and I know the book is going to be good. One gripe I have with books is the boring parts and the ups and downs of the tension found in many novels. With Gemma’s books, it's just conflict and tension all the way through, keeping the reader totally engaged.

I was very into The Honeymoon, her latest. Imagine seeing your husband kissing another woman right after you have gotten married. I'm talking about the actual wedding day. That's what starts off the story of Kelly and Ryan.

Once she witnesses that passionate kiss, she immediately leaves the wedding venue and heads off to the honeymoon location, Crete, by herself. She turns off her phone and gets on the plane and doesn't look back. She’s hoping some time alone will give her some clarity and Ryan will get the hint that she knows what he's done.

Unfortunately, he flies out there and refuses to give her up without a fight. And then, of course, there are secrets and more shady characters getting involved and the whole thing is pure suspense and entertainment.

Synopsis:

My wedding was the perfect whirlwind of a day. The happiest I’d ever been. That was until I discovered my beloved husband, Ryan, tucked away in a compromising summer house clinch with Liza, his best friend’s wife.

Reeling with this ultimate betrayal, my world in freefall, with nowhere to turn, I flee my own wedding unable to face anyone, not even my family. I just want to escape this nightmare.

With our flight, to our luxury honeymoon leaving in a matter of hours, could ten blissful days of Cretan Island life, minus my cheating husband help me figure out my future? It couldn’t be this easy, could it?

After a few blissful days of sunshine, my peace is shattered with the arrival of my husband, denying everything.

It seems he’s got secrets. Big secrets. More than I could ever have imagined.

With my marriage all but dead I just need to get through the honeymoon and then it’ll all be over… won’t it?

Once I started this one I had trouble putting it down. I as reading while brushing my teeth, making the bed, doing the dishes and laundry…I finished it in less than a day. The premise of a woman learning her husband was having an affair with her best friend at her own wedding reception immediately hooked me. Then she left for her honeymoon on the gorgeous island of Crete by herself! I was cheering for her.
The revelations about Ryan, Liza and Bobby just had me reeling and having to read just one more chapter. Much of the storyline became a bit preposterous but I couldn’t wait to devour it. I have to admit that I grew disappointed in Kelly as the story grew more complex as she seemed to give in to Ryan way too often. I did appreciate the ending!
Many many thanks to Gemma Rogers, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for affording me a pleasurable yet thrilling read of this arc that I could not put down. Transported to Crete on a gorgeous fall day in sunny Southern California- who could ask for more?

This book starts off with a big. moment and never lets up. There's not a lot of ambiguity to the story but the main character is appealing enough to keep the reader engaged. A great beach read.

This is a domestic thriller which introduces us to Kelly who discovers on her wedding day that her husband is cheating with her friend. She is devastated, but leaves for her honeymoon on her own.

The honeymoon resort gives Kelly the chance to think over how she wants to move forward. But soon her husband shows up, and she discovers that there are even more secrets he is hiding.

This story is fast-paced and had some good twists. If you like drama, secrets, lies and tension, this will keep you engaged!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Honeymoon is crammed full of drama!

I did feel like it was more of a soap opera type book rather than a thriller.

Bride catches her husband cheating at their wedding. Bride goes on honeymoon alone. And the drama just keeps coming after that.

A quick and easy read. Finished it in a day. Not my favorite by this author but enjoyable anyway.

Thanks to netgalley and Boldwood Books for the arc.

I love a domestic thriller and the blurb intrigued me. I’ve read The Neighbour by this author and enjoyed it and have The Good Wife on my kindle so I had to read this when the tour came up.

Firstly, I definitely would have gotten on that plane! Secondly, I’d have hidden his passport better than Kelly did!

This was a quick and easy read. I’ve read some reviews about it being full of twists and turns and I can’t say I felt that. I can say that I recognise that moment where you have such strong feelings and then something happens to make them do a complete 180. Kelly had that. Better than trying to forgive him like some characters would.

Overall I think it was quite a basic story and unfortunately was just missing a little something to make it quite a thriller. I think it felt more like women’s fiction. I did enjoy it but isn’t my favourite by this author.

oh man did I hate Ryan! But I did love the little details that came out... some I was expecting and some I didn't see coming.

This was a quick read - did it in one sitting. I loved that it had drama and kept me entertained even though it was a quick read.

The stress of the honeymoon got me allll fired up...and then the drama when they got home had me stressed. It was a great read

The book was good that had a strong beginning and the Really Got You hooked there was a couple of spots I'm like why are you doing that it makes no sense you're mad at him for that but overall it looks good and redeemed itself in the end I would recommend

This kept on happened over and over until before I knew it I had devoured the whole book in one sitting!! If you are going to read this then clear your day because it is truly unputdownable. I started this in the morning and finished it at approx. 2pm, reading it in one sitting. In this gripping book we meet Kelly who has just married her childhood sweetheart Ryan. It should be the best day of her life and she should be enjoying her wedding reception with him but instead she goes outside to get some fresh air and have a break from the music to discover him in a passionate embrace and kissing Liza who is his best friend and business partner Bobby's wife!! Kelly runs away from her own wedding, changes and collects everything from her hotel room and escapes to another hotel. Kelly then decides to go ahead with her ten day honeymoon in Crete alone. She arrives in the beautiful Crete where she starts enjoying the sun and even meets a handsome bartender. However, it isn't long before Ryan starts calling and texting her and she then finds out he is coming out to Crete. Ryan eventually catches up to Kelly where he lies and denies what Kelly seen with her own eyes!!!! Kelly is determined to still try to make the most of her holiday when things go from bad to even worse when Bobby and Liza turn up and both of them say that Ryan had asked them to join the honeymoon holiday weeks before the wedding. Gemma's absolutely fantastic and vivid evocative writing skills brings each of the characters to life and leaves you feeling that you are standing next to them as their story unfolds and lives start to tumble around them. Each of the characters were realistic, unique, well rounded and strong characters which makes it a realistic read. My heart went out to Kelly after what Ryan did to her and on her wedding day of all times I could have jumped in the book and throttled him myself!! I don't want to risk saying anything more about how I felt about the characters as I don't want to give anything away to future readers but I will say that I was annoyed, angry, upset, disappointed, disgusted, pleased and more at the different ones for many different reasons!! Gemma really does bring the characters emotions to life and feeds them directly to the reader with her fantastic writing skills. Regardless of whether you love them or hate them they each played their parts perfectly!!!

Congratulations Gemma on yet another addictive, chilling, page turning psychological thriller with an ending I did not see coming! I cannot wait to get hooked into your next guaranteed page turner!!

I have read and enjoyed many books by Rogers now and have become accustomed to her writing style with her books always being four or five star reads.

The Honeymoon is a fast paced, twistfest that rapidly swirls into Kelly's worst nightmare and things are over before they have a chance to begin.

Characters are depicted perfectly and they made for a great domestic thriller.

An enjoyable and easy read.

This was absolutely amazing! I was totally enthralled with this story from beginning to end, I could barely put it down, and when I finally read the last page, the house was dark, I was hungry, thirsty, needed to pee and my neck was stiff. But damn, it was worth it!

This was fast paced, kept me guessing, and I flew through it wanting answers. I didn’t find it a ‘thriller’ per se, more a domestic drama in my opinion. I did expect thriller, so that was a teeny bit of a letdown. But overall it was still good, even if I wanted to punch half the characters for being infuriating.

Writing was great and I look forward to reading more from this author. Appreciate the arc from Netgalley and Gemma!

I really love this author, I don't understand why she isn't more popular. That being said, this wasn't one of my favorite's of hers but it was good enough.

This book started off well and grabbed my attention from the beginning. It had quite a unique story line and kept my attention. I just felt it dragged on quite a bit in the middle and the second part of the book was completely different from the first part and not as enjoyable.

Absolutely loved reading this! It reeled me in from the beginning and kept me hooked. Quite a well written mystery which kept me on my toes trying to guess what was going on. Definitely recommend this one!

Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I could not finish this one. Woman finds husband cheating on her at her own wedding. Woman goes on honeymoon alone after hiding husband's passport. Same woman cheats on him while on honeymoon. Husband shows up with the woman he cheated with and her husband!!!! Are you serious?????

Loved this book! A fast paced quick read that I whizzed through in a day. The story is good and full of deceit and bad behaviour. Not really a thriller, more of a domestic noir but enjoyable all the same.

The Honeymoon by Gemma Roger’s was infuriatingly good. If you like addictive, fast paced, unputdownable, domestic and psychological thrillers then you will love this book.

It’s Kelly and Ryan’s wedding day, when Kelly catches Ryan with Liza in an uncompromising situation. Hurt and angry, she leaves on her honeymoon to Crete alone and didnt say a word to anyone. It’s not to long after she’s there that Ryan finds his passport (Kelly hid it) and heads to Crete…along with Liza and Bobby. Kelly will soon learn not everything is what it seems and who she can trust.

Roger’s did a great job with keeping me guessing. I think she did a great job with the storyline and plot. This was a quick read, but I didn’t want to put it down because I had to know what happened. I felt really bad for Kelly because it was like no one understood why she was angry. I liked watching Kelly find her strength and self worth as the story went along. Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for letting me read this book

While the wedding guests are listening to “Come on Eileen” Ryan, the groom, is tangled in the arms of Liza, the best man’s wife. As Kelly, the bride, steps out of the Sixteen-century Elizabethan Manor for some fresh air, she notices them, shocking to see her teenage sweetheart for ten years and husband for seven hours cheating.
Feeling tired with all the excitement of the day she feels sick and as the flight the next day is approaching to take them to their honeymoon she decides to leave the party.
Her revenge plan is to depart to Greece and hide Ryan’s passport so he would find himself stranded in London.
As she arrives in Crete at the luxury beachfront hotel that Ryan booked for ten days, she thought she will be alone to gather her thoughts and plan the next chapter in her life, but destiny had a different idea…
The story is twisted with main characters that kept many secrets from each other, they lie, cheat, and betray one another.
The tension throughout the story is the main reason I couldn’t put it down.
Thanks to Gemma Rogers, Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the advanced copy
