When Nova Scofield walked away from her narcissistic fiancé weeks before their wedding, she wasn’t imagining that she would feel anything again. She is happily focused on her floral shop, Wild Flora. Yet, when Jax Stratford walks into the shop, Nova realises that he is not a one-night stand, he is also a potential business partner. Despite her best judgment, she agrees to a date and finds herself falling head over heels. Yet, Nova’s ex refuses to let go, placing strain on her burgeoning relationship with Jax.
A cute romance with plenty of sparks flying between Nova and Jax. Whilst Jax might seem too good to be true, his background story grounds his character. Nova is such an independent woman, that the relationship she has with Jax, seems in such contrast to the one she had with her ex. What does make this book stand out from the typical romance, is the strong friendship she shares with her business partner, Gabi. A great read.

This book I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a strong start to the Heads on Fire series, it had that feel that I wanted in this genre and characters. It had that romance element that I wanted and enjoyed going on this story with the characters. Elora Ramirez has a strong writing style and it left me wanting to read the next book in this series.

Nova is recovering from an abusive relationship. She and her friend, Gabi, run a darling floral shop in downtown Austin. One day, a man named Jax walks into the shop. Nova is immediately drawn to him, in a way she forgot she could be. After a steamy night, Nova is left feeling confident and free. The problem, Jax is their soon to be partner, and her narcissistic ex won't leave her alone.

While I'm not usually a fan of books that are under 300 pages, this one made me rethink that. This was such a fun, fast, and heart wrenching read. I read it in one sitting and was left speechless.

Nova is a boss b*tch, recovering from a narcissistic relationship, she has an amazing best friend who has her back no matter what. Jax is a golden retriever boy, who has his own traumatic history, but is so good to Nova.

I loved the integration of home town appreciation and artist supporting artists. I felt that on so many levels. Nova and Jaxs work is so important to the city of Austin...and NGL I wish they were real!

The author nailed the plus size rep and abuse recovery. She didn't make a huge deal about the FMC weight, just that she was a size 18, and the trauma responses and trauma flashbacks are spot on. I had a hard time reading through some of it because it was so accurate.

The author states at the end of the book that she had never considered writing romance or spicy stuff (I haven't looked into her catalogue), she nailed it. It was raw, and spicy, and damn....

There's not much to say about the book other than, I loved it! It was fun, well done, heart breaking at times, and so creative. I could imagine this creative world that the author made and it was gorgeous.

Thank you #netgalley and #feminabooks for the ARC of this book and giving me the chance to read and review it with my own thoughts and opinions
