This workbook is a game-changer for anyone fed up with the endless cycle of dieting and food guilt. It’s practical, approachable, and packed with exercises that help you tune into your hunger and fullness cues while letting go of the pressure to constantly control your weight. The updates in this edition, like rejecting diet culture and exploring the social side of food, make it feel modern and relevant.
It’s not a quick fix—there’s a lot of introspection involved—but the payoff is worth it. If you’re ready to enjoy food again without the stress, this book is a great place to start. A solid 4 stars!
I need this workbook in real life! I'm such a fan of the first principle Reject diet culture, because it is so important not to fall into that rabbithole.
It is not always easy to fill in because eating habits for me are always hard to really think about but I do think it is a really good workbook.
This book is a companion workbook to the Intuitive Eating book, however, it is possible to just use this workbook because all of the concepts are thoroughly explained. There are helpful worksheets throughout and one I particularly find useful is "Hunger Discovery Spectrum." It is amazing how for many of us, we no longer experience "hunger" but rather override this due to using food for comfort, finishing our plates at restaurants, emotional reasons, and the food company's research on how to keep us eating! Another worksheet I found really powerful is an inventory about how diets have interfered with our lives -- very powerful and painful to reflect on this. Painful but liberating once I could see the impact of diets on my mindset, thought and behavior patterns. By tuning into more about what my body needs, I can begin to override these learned behaviors and thoughts and positively change my relationship to food and eating. This is an updated edition and I like that the authors have added topics such as intuitive eating through a social justice lens and the politics of body weight. My fear now with the rise of GLP-1 drugs, that we will move from body positivity to a return to fat-shaming in our society. I guess the message to all of us, is love our body and listen to what it needs.
Thank you to Netgalley and New Harbinger Publications for an ARC and I voluntarily left this review.
Book Review: The Intuitive Eating Workbook (Second Edition) by Evelyn Tribole, Elyse Resch, Tracy Tylka (foreword)
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you’ve ever found yourself feeling anxious about what to eat or how your body looks while eating, you're not alone. I recently picked up The Intuitive Eating Workbook, and it has been a real eye-opener! This updated edition builds on the principles laid out in the original Intuitive Eating book and aims to help readers heal their relationship with food and their bodies.
At its core, this workbook offers a fresh and evidence-based approach to break free from the constraints of diet culture. It walks you through a journey of learning to honor your body's hunger and fullness signals, allowing you to enjoy food without the constant stress. The authors provide guidance on how to trust your intuition when it comes to eating, encouraging you to reconnect with the natural wisdom that we all have but often forget in today's diet-obsessed world.
One of the things I really appreciated about this edition is the thoughtful updates that tackle current societal issues surrounding food and body image. The workbook dives deeper into how intuitive eating can be connected to social justice—something I hadn’t considered before. It challenges the harmful narratives pushed by diet culture and instead promotes a compassionate approach to our bodies and eating habits.
This workbook is a true gift for anyone looking to mend their relationship with food, whether you’re already familiar with intuitive eating or just starting out. The exercises are practical, engaging, and thought-provoking, pushing you to reflect on your beliefs about food and self-worth. I found that the more I worked through it, the more liberated I felt from my previous anxieties surrounding meals.
Overall, The Intuitive Eating Workbook is not just another diet plan; it's a heartfelt invitation to experience life through the lens of joy rather than restriction. If you're ready to embrace a healthier mindset around food and body image, this book might just change your life—one delicious bite at a time!

I've always found the Intuitive Eating books very helpful. I also have the card deck.
This workbook is the missing piece. I've had to force myself to slow down, evaluate my feelings, and work on the things I need to. This workbook helped me do that.
I highly recommend Intuitive Eating Workbook, whether you've read any other of the books and publications.
Thank you to New Harbinger Publications and NetGalley for a digital copy of this title in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
This workbook really helped me improve my relationship with food. I have been working through the Intuitive Eating Journal, which includes a lot of reflection, but this helped with beginning to implement changes.
This a great book if you are just starting the journey into IE. It can feel a bit redundant if you are well aware about IE, but the actually worksheets are great! I used them as a guide to create a mega-sheet detailing my cravings and feelings.
I did not realize this was the companion to the book of the same name, but I dove in headfirst. Even without having initially read the book, the Intuitive Eating Workbook was really helpful in exploring my eating habits and how I eat emotionally. I went out and bought the book so I could look into the theories about societal pressures, expectations, and body image and how they influence my choices. With both the book and this workbook I gained insights into how I approach food, eating and my own appreciation for my body. The authors get into the biases of medical perspectives that don't help people with eating disorders of any kind. I'm continuing to learn and trying the different exercises to help my journey. So far, I'm really pleased with the results and high recommend this book for anyone looking to make real changes in their health. Thank you for the early look and for introducing me to the authors.
The Intuitive Eating Workbook: Ten Principles for Nourishing a Healthy Relationship with Food (Second Edition) is a comprehensive and compassionate guide designed for individuals seeking to improve their relationship with food and their bodies. Based on the well-established principles of intuitive eating, this updated version incorporates the latest research and practical exercises to support readers in overcoming diet culture and fostering self-trust. This is a great companion to the The Intuitive Eating book!
Eating should be easy, right? Right? Um, not so much for me. I struggle everyday. I grasp for the newest research on the best diet, the best foods, and foods to avoid. I want to be perfect, but perfect doesn't exist and shouldn't be a goal for anyone. I have so much to learn, and am using The Intuitive Eating Workbook as my guide to a healthy relationship with food and myself.
In this updated version, the Intuitive Eating Workbook, based on the updated version of the book with the same name, the authors, Resch, Tribole, and Tylka help the reader explore their physical and emotional relationship with food and what nourishes the soul. While I am not as familiar with the original version, I do see that this workbook includes more current insight on the pressures of society on body image and how we talk about food and our bodies. I appreciate how gentle and compassionate the authors are to these influences and pressures. They also address current medical perspectives that are fraught with bias and cite as evidence the medical communities resistance to embracing new ideology about weight.
While I am using this as a self-guided journey the authors share that this workbook can be a companion to working with an eating disorder therapist Each chapter is based on one of the ten principles of intuitive eating and provides exercises to practice these principles. As someone who is brand new to intuitive eating, I am working through the book slowly, chapter by chapter, soaking in all of the information and trying each of the exercises. I see that this is going to take me time. Changing my thoughts, mindset and developing trust in myself is a long process.
I am hopeful that by adhering to the intuitive eating principles, I can change. I am thankful for this workbook to guide me in my journey to have a peaceful relationship with my body. I wonder what life will be like without the constant food and body image chatter in my head. I look forward to it!
