Thank you Netgalley and author AJ McDine for the advance copy of this book.

How well do you really know the people you love the most?

The leafy village of South Langley is the sort of place where someone might kill to live. The Griffiths family has the best home of all – the climbing ivy framing their double bay windows. You can always spot Eve laughing with her husband and their sixteen-year-old-son. And Eve’s best friend Lisa and her teenage daughter Annie live in a charming cottage right across the street. Everything is perfect… Until one night something unthinkable turns the peaceful neighbourhood upside down.

Annie is found on the tiled floor of Eve’s kitchen struggling to breathe. As the blue flashing lights of police cars shatter the quiet streets, everyone is looking at the Griffiths family for answers.

With Annie’s life hanging in the balance, Eve is determined to find out what happened. But as she gets closer to the truth, she begins to question who she can really trust. Because someone is lying to her – is it her best friend, her husband or her son?

After all, we all have secrets. But how many of us would kill to keep them?

This is the first book that I've read by this author. I look forward to reading!

This book had my full attention from the first chapter. I read it in one sitting. I really enjoyed how the book unravels and we learn ghe truth about what really happened that fateful night. I was continually guessing after every twist and turn of the storyline!

4 out of 5 stars

I was introduced to AJ Mcdine thanks to Netgalley & enjoyed reading her last 2 books here so I was very excited to read her latest. In true AJ McDine style, this book is a fun, quick read. I quickly read half of it last night in 1 sitting. I did find this 1 predictable, but I needed to find out if my predictions were correct. (Yes, I was right). The beginning of the book also reminded me a bit of The Best of Friends by Lucinda Berry which I greatly enjoyed. I recommend this to anyone looking for a quick read. I think it would have been interesting if the book was written from Joe's point of view.

Fantastic storytelling with great characters I just couldn't stop reading and everything was brought to a satisfactory conclusion.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC and I look forward to the next one from this great author

A J has SERIOUSLY outdone herself, every book just gets better and better it blows my mind. Twists you don't see coming and yet another book that leaves you on the edge of your seat saying 'just one more chapter' and then before you know it you're on the last page and about ready to cry because it's over
She's altered my brain chemistry and is my roman empire

Wow! This was such a great book. I couldn't put it down and read it in less than a day. This book was aptly titled as everyone in it had multiple secrets.

Eve and her family are happily living their best life until the unthinkable happens. Against her better judgment Eve allows her son Joe to have friends over for a small sixteenth birthday gathering. Her husband Noah thinks she smothers him too much and insists they leave the house during the party. Though they are right across the way at her best friend Lisa's, Eve still has a bad feeling. Sure enough her gut instinct proves correct and they race home to find Lisa's daughter Annie unresponsive on the floor, apparently from taking Ecstacy. As Annie lies in the ICU, and her son is rumored to be the one who had the drugs, Eve is on a mission to find the person responsible for bringing drugs into her home.

We all want to protect our children, but where do you draw the line. How far is too far? Eve is about to find out how far she is willing to go.

This is a fast paced story that is so easy to devour in one sitting. I will definitely be checking out more from A J McDine.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy

2.5 stars. I was entertained by this book, but I wasn’t blown away by the story. It seemed like it could have worked better as a YA drama with all the high school drama than a psychological thriller. The twist in the epilogue seemed random. I think it could have worked better if we saw more from Jenny in the story. Thank you for the opportunity to read the book. I love discovering new authors.

Really enjoyed this book. Eve did drive me
Mad at some points but on the whole really liked all the characters. Lots of twists and turns.

WOW! Literally EVERYONE has secrets in this book. When Annie suffers a drug overdose, all of the kids at the party have secrets. While Joe's mom searches for the truth, she finds out her husband has secrets, kids in school have secrets, and her stepson has secrets. This book is way too true based on kids and drugs these days. Makes you scared as a parent, and also tugs at your heart strings. While Eve swears to her best friend she will find out the truth, she finds herself in danger, and also discovers things about her family she never wanted to know. Who is behind the drugs?? You will never guess! This was a great book. By far AJ's best!

A J McDine’s latest thriller, ‘Everyone Has Secrets’ is a masterclass in suspenseful storytelling. It’s a whirlwind of twists and turns. This book expertly crafts a narrative that kept me guessing, constantly questioning characters motives and unravelling layers of deception.
From the outset, the pace is relentless, which drew me into a world where secrets are kept and trust is rare. The intricate plot unfolds with each revelation adding another layer of intrigue and leaving you desperate to uncover the truth. The characters are deeply flawed and complex, their motivations shrouded in a fog of secrecy.
A J McDine masterfully uses the element of surprise which kept me fully engaged. The unexpected turns, the sudden revelations, and the ever-present sense of unease make this book a real page-turner. It was impossible to put down. If you're looking for a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, "Everyone Has Secrets" is a must-read. Prepare yourself for a captivating journey filled with suspense, intrigue, and the thrilling realization that everyone, indeed, has secrets.
Thank you A J McDine, NetGalley and Bookouture for an early copy.

Many thanks to netgalley, the author and bookouture for approving my request to read this book.

Everyone has secrets follows a character called Eve who seems to have it all, a loving family, a beautiful house and a wonderful relationship with her best friend Lisa and her daughter Annie who is Eve's goddaughter. Things however start to unravel after Eve's young son Joe has a house party to celebrate his birthday. Just how far will Eve go to protect her son?

I loved the exploration of the relationship between Eve and her son as well as that of Eve and Lisa and as a mother myself it really got me thinking of how I would have handled the events within the story.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this twisty, domestic thriller and found it very difficult to put down-I will most definitely be recommending this book!

Eve lives with her husband and 16-year-old son in the small village of South Langley. Her best friend Lisa lives right across the street with her teenage daughter Annie. The women share a special bond, and their children, having grown up so closely together, share one as well.

Despite some misgivings, Eve allows her son to have a small party for his birthday, and at her husband's insistence that it was time to cut the apron strings, she grudgingly agrees to spend the evening at Lisa's. But when she gets a panicked phone call from her son saying something is wrong with Annie, she berates herself for not following her instincts. But what she finds when she arrives home is worse than she ever could have imagined.

As she attempts to pick up the pieces of her shattered life, more disturbing news is waiting. Someone isn't telling the truth about what happened that night, and putting the pieces together is not as easy as you would expect.

This was so much more than a domestic thriller. It was a sobering reminder that if you're a parent, you must accept two horrible truths: first, you can never really protect your child the way that you wish, and two; no matter how close your relationship is with them, you can never really know them in the way you tell yourself so vehemently that you do. Thank you so much to Bookouture and the author for this early copy. At the time this review was written, this book was expected to publish October 21, 2024.

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 21st Oct. Wow, another suspenseful, fast-paced and impossible to put down book by A J McDine. I love this authors writing style and she never writes a bad book each one just keeps on getting better! I was hooked from the first line!

This was a great plot exploring the complex relationship between mother and son. My favourite character was Eve as at times I wondered how far she would go to find out the truth.

I’d highly recommend this book if you don’t read this on publication day you are really missing out! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Eve lives the perfect life in a small countryside village, with her perfect family and friends. When suddenly one night, something happens to turn her perfect life upside down. Soon Eve’s life is spiralling out of control and she is determined to find out what really happened that night. What secrets will she discover along the way?

This is my third book by this author and my third 5 star rating. I knew I had to read this straight away as soon as I saw it! Although this story seemed to follow a more traditional plot than the previous books I have read, it still managed to keep me enthralled and needing to keep turning the pages. I really enjoy the author’s writing style and she has proved that whatever she writes, it will stand out and capture attention. What I really liked about this one was that, although primarily a domestic thriller, there were some real emotional moments that evoked a range of emotions from me. I think when an author can do this it proves what a talented author they are.

The story is told by Eve, and although sometimes her personality traits were irritating, I could relate to parts of her and she felt authentic. The side characters were also done well. I really enjoyed discovering the secrets and the pacing was good; I kept telling myself one more chapter and before I knew it I had read the lot.

This is definitely another immensely entertaining read, full of drama and a surprising but satisfying epilogue. Please hurry up with the next one! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

A teenage son and a teenage daughter…friends and family…secrets…mayhem…intrigue …red herrings…the recipe for a mystery. This talented author has written a page turner. This story reads like nonfiction. What could happen. What did happen. What might happen. This is thought provoking. Thanks Netgalley

Everyone Has Secrets starts with a bang when Annie, Lisa's teenage daughter is found on Lisa's best friend Eve's kitchen floor struggling to breathe. Eve's teenage son knows what happened to Annie, but it seems that so does Lisa, and even Eve's husband, Noah. Why is everyone keeping secrets from Eve?

This novel was completely different from what I was expecting based on the blurb. I am not sure why Annie's 'thing' was left out as it's part of the main theme and happens in the first few chapters. That being said, once I got into the story, I loved it.

The epilogue was incredible, and made me gasp out loud.

Everyone Has Secrets was an intriguing thriller mystery. Eve is a mostly likeable protagonist whose desire to protect her son while helping persuade the reader to look away did also drive suspicious towards him. I found the base of the mystery to be interesting enough however I feel like there were some possible storylines that could have been more interesting to follow. The twist in the epilogue while entertaining would have been a fun mystery to include through out the whole book- I think the story would have been more engaging without the character of Caleb and instead Jenny was the drug pin the whole time with the clear goal of getting Joe in trouble. I really loved the relationship between Lisa and Ece even though I found their temporary break to be a little unnecessary. Overall it's a fun read that is a great way to dive into the genre.

I found this book hard to put down and read it from start to finish without stopping.

It is a psychological thriller that is immensely well written with characters that give the story loads of drama.

Secrets, family drama and so much intrigue adds to the suspense. This is everything a reader wants in a book.

I loved how the whole neighbourhood seem to get invloved with the goings on. Lives are not as they seem on the outside and as the story unfolds we see the real side to those we think we know..

Wow! I have read most of the books by this author and this one has to be my favourite so far.. it had me gripped instantly and I could not put it down..

It really pulls you into the family.. and has you questioning what you know about them is right..

You think you know exactly where the story is going but you don’t.. and when the twist is revealed and it all falls into place.. it’s still not over.

I loved the characters.. although she isn’t in it much Billie-Jo is the sweetest little girl. She captures your heart..

It shows what a families love can do, and how strong friendships can be.. at all ages..

Great short chapters which end wanting you to carry on reading.. I feel this has been left where you could possibly add a sequel.. but I think it’s best left to the imagination…

Brilliant

Everyone has secrets... I could not agree more. It's not a bad thing though as long as you don't hurt anyone or don't endanger anybody.

It's also less distinctive when you talk about people you don't see very often. After all people do not have to share every tidbit of their life with you if they don't want too. It's a different matter when it concerns people you live under the same roof with and who you see every day.

Adults can be very good actors and when teenagers have mood swings, it's easy to blame the hormones although some of them would win an Oscar too.

If I have to name a favorite character it would be Bobbi-Jo. She is lovely and cute and she stole my heart.

This is a very enjoyable psychological thriller with lots of emotions involved. It really pulled my heartstrings for some of them and where others are concerned, I really do hope they will get what they deserve rather sooner than later.

I am a huge fan of this author's writing style and storytelling. I can'wt wait until the next books lands on my lap. 5 big stars from me.

Thank you
