This is a beautiful book with the Silent Night carol imagining. Excellent for a Christmas season before bed story time, talking about Jesus and the most beautiful night of all. Lovely graphics.

This book is an illustration of the famous Christmas carol "Silent Night". Each page contains lines of the lyrics that are brought to life by the visuals. I'm not entirely a fan of the aesthetics, but it was very Christmassy. The part I enjoyed the most was the final word where the author describes the likely origin of the song.

This is a beautifully illustrated children's picture book telling the story of Jesus' birth through the song lyrics of the beloved Christmas carol “Silent Night”. The illustrations are colorful and authentic to the time and place of Jesus' birth. They will be very pleasing and engaging for both children and adults. I love this concrete visual it gives the reader to help us reflect on the story of Jesus' birth. It will stay with the reader as they sing the carol during the Christmas season.
This would be a great addition for churches and Christian based classrooms, as well as your family collection. It would be a special gift!

I totally recommend this book! It brought so many memories back reading over verse after verse. I could imagine a family each night singing through each of the pages as a count down to Christmas. I loved the art in this book. And the choice to add people of color in this! I also loved the added history behind the song. As a young child I was taught "Stille Nacht" by my Oma and Opa, so I loved seeing it mentioned here. This is the perfect gift for those planning to gift a book for Christmas and would be wonderful for a holiday tradition each year.

First, a huge thank you to the author, Lara Hawthorne, the publisher, Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this lovely retelling of Silent Night, the classic tale of the birth of baby Jesus and the nativity scene. The lyrics of the song are placed alongside lovely illustrations that feel very authentic to the region. The stars in the night sky are stunning, as well as the little town off in the distance, the cloaks of the wise men, and the animals. The animals chosen also feel like research was done to represent the region. The flora is a wonderful addition as well. Overall, a very beautiful book that brings forth the spirit of Christmas children will definitely enjoy!

The book Silent Night by Lara Hawthorne is a beautifully illustrated book containing one of Christianity's most beloved Christmas songs, "Silent Night! Holy Night!" by Joseph Mohr. The illustrations alone convey this miraculous birth story. There is a lot of detail in the illustrations, and they are bright and colorful. A fascinating account of how the story of "Silent Night" came to be written in 1818 is included at the end of the book. It will be fun for children to find the mouse in the storybook. The complete Christmas carol is written at the back of the book.

This book is just the song Silent Night and my brain wouldn't allow me to read this book without singing it...which I wouldn't say provides a calm reading environment. We did LOVE the illustrations though! So cute and it would be a wonderful addition to our holiday kids library collection.

Silent Night is a classic and this picture book served it well. I would definitely recommend for this Christmas season.

A lovely picture book containing the lyrics to the well-known Christmas hymn, accompanied by beautiful illustrations of the nativity story. The text is purely the lyrics to Silent Night with no further additions (apart from an interesting informative section at the end about the origin and history of the song) so some of the pictures may require further explanation to a child who is not familiar with the story. It brought back wonderful memories of taking part in school nativity plays as a child! Thank you to NetGalley/the publisher/author for this eARC.

I didn't realize this was just the poem/song silent night! The illustrations were pretty, and of course Silent Night is Silent Night!

I am so grateful to have an illustrated children's Christmas book that is so beautifully done and represents a diverse range of identities that are accurate to the region of the world that Jesus was from. I love the illustrations in this book.

This book was a beautifully illustrated companion to the classic song, Silent Night. It was easy to follow and the illustrations really grab your attention. It was fun to pick apart each page to see the story evolve. It’s a great book to read to young kids while teaching them about the birth of Jesus.
