While I did enjoy the small-tell mystery angle, the pace was a bit too slow for the genre. The book starts off with a strong hook to pull readers in. I liked the multiple POV's, as well as how each chapters ended with a cliffhanger. I enjoyed wacky cast of characters, but you do have to put aside your disbelief. Overall, this book was just "meh," and is not likely to stick with me now that I have turned the final page.

A suspenseful, psychological thriller set in a snowy Minnesota town that makes for the perfect winter read!

This book had me hooked very early, and I desperately wanted to know what was going on in this small town. I really enjoyed getting to know our cast of characters, Florence and “the gang” were absolutely the stars of the show. This book is definitely fast paced, and a quick read. The reveal did shock me, and I really appreciated that.

I will say that this book struggled a little with how many characters were involved; there were so many to keep track of and that slowed me down at times. I also wish Mack’s character had been explored more deeply.

Overall, this was a fun winter thriller, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fast paced psychological thrillers!

Told from 3 POV- Shelby, Mack, and Florence, the story starts with Shelby in a wrong place, wrong time situation when she stops by Mack's cafe late at night to pick up something she left behind only to find it being robbed. On the same night, Mack's husband goes missing.

15 months later, Florence wants to start a podcast. She enlists the rest of her friends at Oleander's Senior Living Facility to help her solve what happened to Shelby and Mack all those months ago.

Overall, I liked the idea of a golden girls murder mystery, but I did find this story dragging a little in the middle, moreso during Florence's chapters, but I think that's because they were further removed from the actual events.

I really enjoyed the ending. I didn't see
it coming, and I like when that happens.

I wanted to love this book, I just couldn’t connect with it for some reason. The blurb, cover and title were definitely enticing. The first few chapters had a promising set up, but somewhere along the way it became disconnected for me. Maybe too much time had passed? Maybe too many characters and povs to keep track of?

This book instantly dragged me in. I was hooked, unfortunately that quickly faded out. I never read any books by Glass, but I was very intrigued by the title of this one. I come from a small hometown, and I thought it was going to be more of a small town story, but it ended up being a story with too many characters, with too much fluff in between. I did enjoy the ending though, the author wrapped the book up nicely, it had me on the edge of my seat.

While this wasn't my cup of tea, I would recommend it for someone looking for a quick read. It was difficult for me to follow all the characters. I had to keep reminding myself who was Mack and who was Shelby.

I felt as though this book had parts taken from other books or movies, like I have read or seen this before.

One thing about Seraphina Nova Glass is that she will keep you guessing and intrigued. This book had me hooked from the beginning. It’s told from multiple points of view, so you really have to pay attention to catch everything.
This psychological thriller had me constantly trying to figure out who was behind everything—who would want to bring chaos and fear to the residents of this small town, and why? Just when I thought I had it figured out, a twist was thrown at me! I didn’t see it coming, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it at first. In the moment, it felt kind of random, but it worked in the end.
There was some comic relief throughout the book from the residents of the senior facility—“the gang”—and I loved every bit of their banter.

If you enjoy thrillers, I’d recommend checking this book out!

Thank you, Net Galley, Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House for the opportunity to read and review this ARC of Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass.

I am an admirer of Seraphina Nova Glass and book did not disappoint! From the first few shocking pages I was hooked! This author is a master when it comes to creating well developed, interesting main characters that make you emotionally connected to them. It's a slow burn for a few chapters to really set up the story which is essential for establishing its complexities. Her intellectual and humorous plot twists make it hard to put this book down. I am eagerly excited to recommending this to my book club! Solid 4 stars!

The premise of this started off strong but unfortunately, I quickly lost interest. I was not super intrigued to find out who was behind the horrors of the book.

This was a great page turner! 2 friends live in a small town and their lives are turned upside down in one night! The beginning of the book starts out and quickly grabbed my attention! The whole book is a race to find out who is the bad guy! Whew, every turn I was looking and trying to figure out who it was. I absolutely loved the characters! The senior citizens were great and I loved all their banter! Their close bond was just fantastic!

There hasn’t been a thriller by Seraphina Nova Glass that hasn’t grabbed and kept my attention and Nothing Ever Happens Here was no different!

This was a suspenseful, psychological thriller full of twists and turns. The setting made it the perfect winter thriller novel. It took me about 20% to actually get into the book, but when i did the author kept me engaged to the very end!

Shelby survives an attack that could have killed her and as she works to get past it her past comes back. She gets about that has the same threats her previous attacker made. The story goes viral due to a group on senior sleuths and Shelby feels like she is being watched. Shelby’s best friends husband disappeared on the night of her attack and things start to come out about Leo. Loved the story came out at a good pace and loved the twists along the way.

There is just something about the way that Seraphina Nova Glass writes her psychological thrillers that makes them highly engaging, and I've been looking forward to read more of her work. I was going to tackle more of her backlist first, but I couldn't resist adding Nothing Ever Happens Here to my shelves as soon as I read the blurb and then read it first... And while it wasn't my favorite story written by her, I still had a great time reading it.

This is one of those stories where it's best to just go in blind, because the plot twists will hit so much better this way. True, Nothing Ever Happens Here is a bit slow to start and it took a while for the ball to start rolling, but especially the second half will have you on the edge of your seat. This story uses a multiple POV structure, switching between Shelby, Mack and Florence to get all sides of the story across. Florence's POV is probably the most entertaining one to read, as it involves the antics of a group of older characters determined to investigate what is going on. This group is without doubt the star of the show and some of their comments are hilarious. The humor helped balancing out the more intense moments in the plot!

Nothing Ever Happens Here seems a bit different than her previous books, but that doesn't mean it's a bad read. While it did take me some time to properly warm up to the story and get used to the many characters in play, once I did I couldn't stop reading. It definitely reads more like cozy mystery for the most part, although there are plenty of moments of danger to be found as well. The story is mainly set in the present, although the story starts with a flashback to the night that changed both Shelby and Mack's lives forever. Everything that keeps happening will keep you on your toes while you try to figure out who is behind it and why... I had my suspicions, but I never did guess the full truth.

As for the characters... Like I said, Florence and the rest of the gang are without doubt the stars of the show, and I loved spending time with them. Mack also made for a intriguing character with everything that happened to her... Shelby was somehow not as easy to like though. I couldn't always understand her actions and she could get a bit frustrating, although she has been through a lot as well of course so part of her erratic behavior is understandable.

Even if it might take you some time to warm up to this story, especially the second half is well worth the wait. There were some major twists I most definitely didn't see coming, and especially the way things ended completely took me by surprise. Florence and the rest of the gang gave me The Thursday Murder Club vibes, and we all know I love that series... All in all a great read if you don't mind a big cast of characters and a slower start.

A missing husband and a killer on the loose! What’s not to love?! The snowy Minnesota town this takes place in made it super fitting for a winter read.

Overall, this book was so fun! I will admit, it took me a little while to get into it, but that could just be me! I loved the eccentric characters, but my favorites were the senior citizens starting the podcast! It gave a cozy mystery feel, which felt different than her other books. Thank you so much to NetGalley and publisher for the ARC!

This is a new to me author & I’m so glad I went in blind because I didn’t solve this one myself before the end! Love when that happens. This book started off with a huge scare that hooks you in quick. I physically could not put the book down after that because the POVs were riveting and I was determined to find out who was behind everything. I loved that while this book was a thriller, it was funny too and I could definitely see this being a series if it isn’t already.

I recommend going blind into this one but if I had to give you a quick plot - Shelby survives a brutal attack that left her for dead in the beginning of the book. A year and a half later, she’s being terrorized not only by memories of the incident, but now by anonymous notes being left for her reminding her of the attack. When a few folks from the local seniors community she works at decide to try and help solve the case themselves, we quickly see things escalate.

What kept this from being a 5 star for me was there was *a lot* of dialogue unrelated to the plot. I loved the humour injected into the book but the amount of tangent conversations was throwing off the pacing for me. Additionally, there was a huge cast in this book to keep up with. The amount of side character names made it a bit hard to remember who they were and their back story.

Since the author is new to me, I’m not sure if this is an existing series or not but I’d love to see another crime solved by the Oleander gang as I mentioned. 3/5 stars!

This was my first book by this author. I was really interested in the blurb when I requested this book however I felt a little disappointed in the book itself.

The plot and the premise were there and a lot of it was well done however there were somethings I had a hard time with.

It was hard to tell sometimes exactly what was happening in the book as the POV’s seemed to jump around a lot. The dialogue also seemed to be a bit juvenile in some parts. Also in the edition I had there were some typos, grammatical errors, and some of the spacing was off.

It started off with a bang and then slowed down a lot then sped back up. The pacing did seem a little uneven to me but it was fairly easy to read.

I really enjoyed the characters though. I thought a lot of them were really likable and easy to get to know. The ending was satisfying enough and I am glad I continued to read the book so I could get closure. I think the ending was one of the best written portions of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for this arc.

What a thrilling ride. The setup is a little slow as the mystery builds, but I was on the edge of my seat as we approached the end and discovered whodunit.

I felt like there was a couple loose ends that never got tied up or revealed, but overall I really enjoyed this story. My jaw was on the floor as it all came to light, especially with some of the earlier reveals.

I love quick mystery suspense and I can't wait for more from Seraphina.
