This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

Such a fun and refreshing thriller. I absolutely loved all the POVs and the twists and turns that this one just kept throwing at me. Shelby lives through an unspeakable tragedy but sadly for her it’s not over. Someone is terrorizing her and everyone she cares for….will she be able to find them before it’s too late?

Thank you so much to HTP Books for the ARC!
I absolutely LOVED Seraphina's previous release THE VACANCY IN ROOM 10 and still can remember so many details about the quirky setting and characters. She definitely nailed the memorable settings and characters again in this one!
If you like an immediate hook in your thrillers, this one will easily deliver that as it starts out with a BANG!
There were a lot of things I really liked about this book:
- Midwest Setting
- Senior Living Setting
- Podcast Element
- Small Town Vibes
I definitely got some cozy mystery vibes which I'm sure is due in part to the the amateur sleuths in the Senior Living Facility, but it felt a little less serious than her previous book to me.
Overall, it was a fun and quick read that I'd recommend!

Just give me stories like this- a group of elderly folks (a snarky group!) lots of who done its (and who is the bad guy) all set in Minnesota where Hamms beer rules. Very fun but serious at times also.

Like, OMG, this was a wild ride! Picture this: small-town charm, snowy vibes, and, oh, a major mystery that had me hooked from the start. The story kicks off with an attack that should’ve been the end, but nope—our girl Shelby is a total survivor. Fast forward a year, and just when life starts feeling kinda normal, bam creepy threats pop up again, and things get intense.
The drama escalates with suspicious accidents, shady financial secrets, and, believe it or not, a group of feisty seniors who totally steal the show. Their meddling/investigative podcast adds this quirky, almost cozy feel, which balances out the darker moments. Also, the snowy Minnesota setting? Such a vibe—cold, eerie, and totally atmospheric.
Not gonna lie, some twists hit hard, while others felt a smidge over the top. And the pacing? Fab at first but kinda fizzled near the end. Still, this was binge-worthy for sure, and I couldn’t stop flipping those pages.

For fans of thriller, suspense, and mystery this book is for you!
Thank you to The Hive, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
Nothing ever happens here starts off with an immediate hook and kept the suspense going in each chapter. The story shows multiple povs and each chapter will leave you on a cliffhanger gasping on the edge of your sit to know what will happen next. The twist and turns throughout the story kept my attention the entire way that I could not put this book down. Would definitely recommend reading!

I was pretty excited for this book but it didn’t live up to my expectations. The plot wasn’t bad, but this dragged on for me. The beginning started off strong but I started to really struggle towards the middle to the end of this book. It wasn’t too long of a read, but it took me longer than my usual reading speed to finish this one. I didn’t find myself reaching for it as much. I also really struggled with the multiple POVs and felt a little bit confused at times.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Seraphina Nova Glass’s Nothing Ever Happens Here delivers a suspenseful and twist-filled thriller set against the backdrop of a snowy small town. Shelby Dawson’s journey from survivor to sleuth is gripping, with a cast of quirky characters and a web of secrets that slowly unravels.
The pacing is brisk, and the mix of humor and tension adds depth to the story, though some subplots feel slightly underexplored. Still, the twists and mounting suspense make it hard to put down.
A solid read for fans of small-town mysteries and psychological thrillers, this book proves that in quiet towns, danger always lurks beneath the surface.

Really good read. It was my first book by this author and i definitely plan on reading more !!! Four stars!!!

Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass is a recommended novel following two mysteries in a small Minnesota town.
Shelby and Mackenzie are best friends. The night Shelby survives an attempted murder is the same night Mack's husband, Leo, disappears. Fifteen months later, Leo is still missing and Shelby thought she was safe - until she receives a threatening note. Then a group of senior citizens, led by Florence, decide to investigate and discuss the cases along with another suspected murder on a podcast, which quickly goes viral, increasing the threats to Shelby. At the same time Mack is dealing with the financial mess Leo left behind.
This mystery involving Shelby's attacker and the disappearance of Leo were both interesting, however, the incompetence of the police was disappointing. The even-paced narrative has the feeling of a cozy mystery, especially after the farcical seniors enter the picture. The ending is satisfying, although not entirely unexpected.
This novel is a good choice if you enjoy a group of wacky seniors crime solving and can set a major dose of disbelief aside. After the first unlikely occurrence which happens early on I was bothered. Then the (annoying) seniors entered the picture and from that point on the novel was just okay for me. The plot might have held my attention more if the group of seniors were left out.

Nothing really happens in small towns 0r does it? Nothing Ever Happens Here starts with a woman being locked in a freezer and a woman dealing with a husband who had gone missing a year prior. Are they connected? Is there a killer walking amongst them? Is there something more going on?
I had high hopes for Nothing Ever Happens Here and did enjoy the twists and turns which this Book took.. There are quite a few characters, some who tried their best to solve the case. While I initially found this book to be gripping and fascinating, I soon myself feeling a lack of connection to the characters and the story. I can't fault Seraphina Nova Glass's wonderful writing, I just found myself picking up other books while reading this book.
What I did enjoy was the tense scenes, twists, and action that took place. I also enjoyed how the seniors became involved. The beginning and later parts of the book were the best parts for me.

It started with a bang and was very exciting in the beginning but then kept at a slow pace. It was difficult for me to pick it up towards the middle but I was interested in the small town mystery.

Shelby survives a brutal attack but thankfully survives. A little over a year later when she feels like she’s finally getting things back on track, anonymous notes start to show up that frighten her. Her best friend, Mack’s, husband disappeared the same night of her attack. As more evidence comes to light, he seems to have had deep financial troubles. But does this have to do with Shelby’s attack? Throw in a group of lovely elderly people who are trying to figure out what happened and you’ve got all the makings of an interesting story.
The first little bit of this book was fantastic and really gripped me. Unfortunately, it dragged for me up until the last 20%. I found it difficult to want to pick up. I really have enjoyed most of Glass’ other books, but this one didn’t hit for me. I will say the ending was really good and totally not what I would think would happen at all. Seemed a little outlandish, but I still liked it because it shocked me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade for the advanced copy of this book.

Unfortunately I had to dnf this book, while this started promising I felt the abundance of characters and drawn out chapters offering minimal progress in the story made me lose interest. Many of the characters were similar and I didn't understand the point of the older characters, this is where I felt it drag the most. Perhaps it may all come together later but I just was not invested enough to continue.

Shelby is still traumatized after being trapped during an attack, while Mack’s husband has gone missing. A year later, both cases remain unresolved.
Told from the perspectives of three women—Shelby, Mack, and Florence—the book keeps you engaged with its cliffhangers and ends in a satisfying, unconventional way.
The senior residents at the care home absolutely stole the show. Their banter added a cozy, lighthearted vibe, and their podcast idea was brilliant! However, while the podcast was discussed at length, we were never truly part of it, which felt like a missed opportunity—especially for audiobook fans who would’ve loved hearing their witty back-and-forth.
The story is clever in how all the small, seemingly disconnected events gradually come together. The pacing wasn’t necessarily fast, but there was always plenty happening to keep me intrigued.
While I didn’t guess the culprit, the whodunit element lacked the punch I hoped for. It’s not a traditional murder mystery, and that might be why the twists didn’t hit as hard. Still, the strong character arcs and steady drama carried the story well.
If you’re looking for a heartfelt, entertaining mystery with plenty of drama and a cozy vibe, this one is worth adding to your list!

Although not a bad book, I really had to push myself to finish it. It just moved too slow for me. It did a few shocks here and there but just could not keep my interest.

I love this authors work. Unfortunately this wasn’t my favorite. It was very unbelievable, silly and the pacing was off. I didn’t actually care to finish. I will still read her next. Thanks @netgalley for my copy!

Captivating from the start- although it did get a little slow towards the middle. This small town mystery has twists and turns that keep you guessing which was great. I did have some trouble keeping track of all of the different characters in the town.
A read worthy of your time! Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity!

After surviving an attack one night at work, Shelby Dawson tries to get her life back on track for her kids. But a year later, she receives an anonymous note that leaves her fearing for her safety, especially as mysterious accidents begin to threaten those closest to her.
This is a really fun popcorn type thriller with fun cozy vibes. The group of seniors who try to investigate the mysterious goings-ons are *so* reminiscent of The Thursday Murder Club and I loved that aspect. It pulled me in right from the go with the action starting up front and a cold, sinister atmosphere perfect for a winter evening.
While the pacing of this one was fantastic most of the way through, it did begin to loose steam towards the end and I felt my mind start to wander during what should have been the most pivotal moments. I am not sure if this is because I felt like the story ended up not being as believable as I would have liked given how good the first half was, or if it was just wrapped up to quickly for my taste. Even still, this is a fun, bingy read overall.
Read if you like:
▪️domestic suspense
▪️small towns
▪️ensemble casts
▪️multiple POVs
▪️Thursday Murder Club vibes

Seraphina Nova Glass just has a way of writing that tickles my brain. I’ve read 4 of her books now and I love them. They are quick and easy to read. She writes in such a way that captures you but allows you to fly through her books.
The suspense was there throughout this whole book. I was questioning every single person. I don’t personally like to guess who did it, unless it’s very obvious. I like to just go along for the ride. However, I don’t know if I would’ve been able to guess at all. I loved it.
I will also be selling all of my possessions, quitting my job and going to work at an assisted living facility. I LOVE every single character that lives there. They belong in my heart now. Florence, Herb, Millie, Mort, and Bernie!!!
Shelby survives a horrific attack. She should’ve died. But she’s alive and after 15 months she’s trying to move past the fear. Living in Minnesota with her family, friend and work at the assisted living facility, she tries to get rid of the fear she felt. Until one day she finds a note on her car window. Reminding her to stay quiet if she wants her family and friends to be safe.
Everyone is a suspect. The group of senior citizens try to help solve the case! But are they helping or making it worse? Why isn’t there more evidence? Why aren’t the cops doing more? Who, in this small town, is the killer?
You’ll have to read the book to find out. You won’t regret it.
