Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.
In "Nothing Ever Happens Here," Seraphina Nova Glass masterfully crafts a thriller that grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go. This novel delves into the complexities of small-town life, where the seemingly mundane existence is shattered by unexpected events and buried secrets that bubble to the surface.
From the first page, Glass's writing captures a sense of quiet tension. Her characters are meticulously detailed, with their own quirks and hidden facets that make them feel palpably real. The protagonist is particularly compelling, navigating a web of lies and fear with vulnerability and resilience. As the story unfolds, the reader is drawn into a labyrinth of suspense, where every revelation leads to even more questions.
The pacing is expertly handled, with the narrative rhythm ensuring that there are no lulls. Glass uses the backdrop of the small town not only as a setting but as a character in its own right, adding layers of intrigue and claustrophobia that heighten the suspense. The twists are both unpredictable and satisfying, avoiding the pitfalls of thriller clichés while delivering genuine shocks.
What sets this novel apart is its exploration of the human condition under pressure. Glass delves into the psychology of her characters, exploring themes of trust, betrayal, and the desperation that drives people to extremes. The emotional stakes are high, and the reader is constantly on edge, anticipating the next unexpected turn.
In "Nothing Ever Happens Here," Seraphina Nova Glass has created a thriller that is as much about the inner turmoil of its characters as it is about the external plot twists. It’s a gripping read that will keep you hooked until the very end, making you question the certainty of even the quietest moments in life. This book is a testament to Glass's ability to blend suspense with deep, human insight, and it’s sure to leave a lasting impression on any reader who dares to uncover its secrets.

This mystery is full of quirky characters residing in an assisted living facility. Love the small town and the mischief of the elder characters...but also a decent mystery at its heart. This is a fun and fast read.

I loved this book so so much! The characters were amazing, I really fell in love with each one but especially Florence & the rest of the gang. You don’t often read books like this who frame an elderly woman as the hero, but Florence was so incredible. She’s who I want to be when I’m an old lady! Shelby was great, although I found myself being suspicious of her husband the whole time. I would have liked to see him be a more fleshed out character, but of course there were plenty of those in this story already. He was mostly irrelevant to the story. The police in this town were particularly infuriating/incompetent, but honestly I think that could be said about many real life police forces. I think overall it was a good ending where all of the loose ends tied up nicely. So excited to have gotten this ARC so thank you to the publisher & NetGalley.

Seraphina Nova Glass is quickly becoming a favorite of mine! Every book I’ve read so far has been one I can’t put down!
This book is set in a small town where everybody knows everybody, and everyone grew up here. It follows friends Shelby & Mack, and a group of residents at an assisted living facility. All of the characters are very well written and by the end of the book you feel like you know them.
Right from the start, a horrible event happens and from that point you’re sucked in til the end.
Very entertaining and well written. I highly recommend this book as well as others by this author!

I loved Nothing Ever Happens Here! Super suspenseful and completely unputtdownable from start to finish! I loved the author's previous book The Vacancy in Room 10 and couldn't wait to read her newest. This story kept me guessing and the writing was solid. I highly recommend Nothing Ever Happens Here to thriller readers who are looking for an exciting mystery that they will read all in one sitting!

I've been on a bad streak of thrillers lately, but this one was FANTASTIC. I love a good small town setting, and right from the beginning it has you hooked. This is my first SNG book but it certainly won't be my last, especially if all the twists and turns continue!

Nothing Ever Happens Here is the story of a shocking event that happens in a small town.
Years back, Shelby was attacked and left for dead in her best friend's cafe. On the same day, Mack's husband disappears and is the main suspect in the attack. Both Shelby and Mack try to go on with their lives until Shelby starts receiving threatening notes leaving her and her family feeling unsafe.
Meanwhile, a group of adorable seniors (where Shelby works) decide to start investigating the case and start a podcast about the events. What happens next is a series of shocking twists and turns that lead to answers no one expected.
This was a fun read and a page-turner. Seraphina Nova Glass knows how to end a chapter on a cliffhanger. The seniors in the story were adorable and brought charm to the story. The setting (a small Minessota town) was great and real.
Overall this novel has a great set of characters, a great setting and a story that keeps the reader on edge.
***Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Canada for this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.

This was a very entertaining physiological thriller. I enjoyed the pace and the plot. The characters were interesting and well developed. I felt like all the characters were a bit suspicious and I wasn’t able to predict the ending at all which I always say is a plus in my opinion. I highly recommend this book and the author, who is always a favorite of mine.
Thank you to both Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ:
I really enjoyed The Vacancy in Room 10 and had high hopes for Nothing Ever Happens Here, as a thriller. I liked the story and was engaged in it throughout; however, without giving spoilers away, the end of the story was a bit far fetched for me because it seemed everyone and their mother in this small town was trying to solve the case, except for the actual police force. It just became very unbelievable for me that everyone became an “ameatur detective” and that people were keeping so much evidence from the police. I found myself skimming over parts towards the end so I could finish. Overall it was a decent thriller but I thought some parts of the ending were a bit unrealistic.

First, thank you yo NetGalley, the publishers and authors for the opportunity to read this book. It was a great read, and perfect for the winter season.
This books has a but of a different feel than other thrillers I’ve read. I appreciated that the senior citizens from the Oleander added a bit of a lightheartedness to this story. Sometimes thrillers can be too intense for me, but that group had the podcast broke up the tense moments in a great way.
I always love books with strong female leads, and Shelby, Mack, and Florence were all great strong characters. I loved that all 3 of them had a different journey yet their stories were so connected.
I think the story flowed well and kept me guessing, which is always good in thrillers. There were some slow moments, but overall a great read. Thank you again for the opportunity to read it.

✨Thank you @NetGalley and @graydonhousebooks for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
✨Shelby Dawson is left for dead in a harrowing attack that alters her sense of safety forever. As her best friend Mackenzie finally helps her towards healing, her safety is once again ripped from her.
✨In their snowy Minnesota town, Shelby starts receiving threatening notes detailing events of her attack from 15 months prior. On that same night, Mackenzie’s husband, Leo, went missing and still hasn’t been heard from since.
✨Determined to find out who is responsible for her attack, and with the help of some of the elderly community, Shelby’s situation goes from bad to worse, as suspicious events start targeting those closest to her.
✨This is a suspenseful and wild ride. This is a typical Seraphina Nova Glass thriller that has you holding your breath till the very end! There were times I felt the parts with the elderly folks could have been buttoned up a bit to keep the momentum of suspense flowing, but overall a great book!

This book started off strong with a truly terrifying opening scene that immediately grabbed my attention. However, as the story progressed, the pacing slowed, and the introduction of numerous characters made it challenging to keep everyone straight. I did enjoy the small-town mystery/thriller vibe, and the quirky senior living residents added a cozy, endearing touch to the narrative. While I didn’t completely figure out who was responsible, the reveal wasn’t entirely surprising, although I did not expect the ending! Ultimately, this story wasn’t quite for me. I think it could have been stronger if it focused solely on Florence and the other residents, without the added complexity of multiple POVs.

This book was just okay for me. I did enjoy the amateur sleuths at the assisted living that insisted in being involved in the mystery. The ending is quite disturbing. And I found myself not liking the character Shelby very much. However, I did very much want to find out what happened at the end, it was just kind of a slow read for me.

Tgank you, Seraphina Nova Glass, Harlequin Trade Publishing, & Netgalley for an Arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this! I was hooked from the beginning. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the story !

I really enjoyed the beginning and ending of this book. However, I feel as though I got a little lost in the middle. I felt myself getting confused about which character was who and where the characters were. I do understand many of the characters are important for the overall plot, however, getting to know less people would have helped me better understand where the story was going. Overall, I really enjoyed this book!

I am a big fan of Seraphina Nova Glass and her latest was another great read for me. Her ability to create a colorful cast of characters while playing out a murder mystery plot makes this book dynamic and fun to read. The setting of the retirement community, and the intrigue of missing husbands and dark backstories made for a memorable story. I loved it.

This book started with a bang.. the descriptive setting drew me right in. Shelly Dawson survives a harrowing attack that should have left her dead. At the same time, her best friend Mackenzie's husband Leo goes missing.
Fifteen months later, an anonymous note appears on Shelby's windshield bearing the same threats her attacker made.
Shelby joins forces with Mackenzie and a group of well-meaning senior citizens to work out what happened to Leo, who her attacker was, and whether the two are connected.
* You may enjoy this if you like family secrets, cozy mysteries, multiple POVs, online shenanigans and senior citizens solving crimes.

It had good potential at the beginning but it fell short in my opinion. It still kept me entertained enough to see the outcome but it was just OK.

This was a slower paced thriller told through multiple points of view. Because this was slow paced, I found my mind wandering, and I wished it was faster. I prefer my thrillers to be fast and furious, and this one did not fit that bill. There were also way too many points of view for me to stay focused. I think had things been faster, I would have been able to keep up versus my mind wandering. I did, however, enjoy the underlying story, the deliver just wasn’t to my liking. I think that the author was going for a very suspenseful read but it missed the mark for me. This book was pretty emotionally charged, and I enjoyed that aspect. I also enjoyed the drama, there was so much of it and really why I kept reading. It’s what I was invested in and watched play out.
If you are looking for a slower paced thriller full of drama, then check this one out.

Despite all the 5 star reviews, I really struggled to get Nothing Ever Happens Here.. While the premise was interesting, it moved way too slowly for me. I found it hard to believe the plot and be moved by either of the main characters. While this book by Glass did not work for me, I don't doubt her next one will. I appreciate the ARC
