I have read (and loved) all of Seraphina’s books so it’s saying something for me to say that this was my favorite! I love how each of her books have a different vibe and how she’s able to put herself in the characters’ minds and write their thoughts so distinctly! I love the alternating first person perspectives and how I was suspicious of various characters but was still shocked at the end! It came together flawlessly and left me completely shocked and satisfied simultaneously! Absolutely brilliant! Already fiending for her next one!

A Slice of Suburban Life with a Dark Undercurrent
Seraphina Nova Glass's Nothing Ever Happens Here is a captivating novel that delves into the seemingly ordinary lives of residents in a quiet suburban neighborhood. While the surface may appear peaceful, Glass skillfully reveals a darker undercurrent that lurks beneath the tranquil facade.
The story revolves around a group of neighbors who find their lives intertwined in unexpected ways. There's the mysterious new family who moves in next door, the troubled teenager struggling with identity, and the aging couple grappling with the challenges of growing old. As the plot unfolds, Glass expertly explores themes of isolation, loneliness, and the hidden secrets that people carry.
One of the novel's strengths lies in its character development. The characters are well-rounded and relatable, each with their own unique struggles and desires. Glass delves into their inner thoughts and emotions, allowing readers to connect with them on a deep level. The author's prose is both lyrical and evocative, painting vivid pictures of the suburban setting and the characters' experiences.
While the pace may be slow at times, Glass's storytelling is deliberate and purposeful. She builds tension and suspense gradually, leading to a satisfying and thought-provoking conclusion. The novel's exploration of the human condition and the complexities of relationships makes it a compelling read.
Nothing Ever Happens Here is a beautifully crafted novel that offers a fresh perspective on suburban life. It is a poignant exploration of the hidden depths of human nature and the ways in which our past experiences shape our present.

5 stars, absolutely excellent!!!!

Hands down my favourite Seraphina book ever!

So cleverly crafted, every character had such depth and was so likeable and relatable!

The first chapter is so intense and gets your heart pounding and from there on out things keep going in a quick forward motion, safe to say I stayed up all night reading just to get some closure with the ending.

The plot involves an unsolved break in, attempted murder and missing persons case that are all connected in unusual ways.

A year after her traumatic experience. Shelby once again feels her world starting to collapse when an ominous threatening note is left on her car. The person who almost successfully killed her is back, and they are out for blood.

I absolutely loved the Oleander crew. A group of well intentioned old folks who decide to solve the crime for themselves. The characters were so loveable with their banter and determination. They brought some light hearted feel good humour to a dark and twisty book that created the perfect balance. I genuinely wish they were real people that I could hang out with 😂

An absolute must read!

Thank you to HTP Publishing and Seraphina Nova Glass for the EARC!

Shelby Dawson survives an attack that should have been fatal and tries to move past it. but fifteen months later, a note appears on her windshield with a threat from her attacker that was never found. New evidence around the attack emerges and unknowingly, a group of senior citizens accidentally make things worse by having the case go viral online.

There were a bunch of suspicious characters in this one and the author kept me on the edge of my seat wondering who was behind all of it. Oh the suspense! And the group of senior citizens were fabulous. It felt sinister in places and cozy crime in others, with lots of twists throughout. Another fabulous installment by the author.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Harlequin for this gifted review copy.

Nothing Ever Happens Here is intense, edge-of-your-seat reading from beginning to end. I love how the author wove this mystery, keeping me guessing until the end. I was totally stumped as I attempted to solve this whodunnit along with the characters, unable to figure out a motive or suspect. When we finally reach the reveal I was pleasantly surprised and totally creeped out.

My favorite aspect was the group of senior citizens who bring tons of comic relief as they start their own true-crime podcast and do some major amateur sleuthing. This addition to the story created a unique mix of thriller and cozy mystery and the atmospheric winter setting amplified the tension. The 3 POV’s end on a cliffhanger at the end of each chapter and kept me glued to the page as I devoured all the fun twists in this small-town thriller.

Thank you so much to HTP books, The Hive, NetGalley, and the author for the early read!

This is the third year in a row I’ve been lucky enough to early read Seraphina’s books and I’m so excited for everyone to read her early 2025 release of Nothing Ever Happens Here!

In a snowy, small Minnesota town where everyone knows everyone and crime is rare, Shelby is attacked and almost left for dead and her best friend Mackenzie’s husband goes missing without any leads on the same fateful night. On the record, there is no clear connection. Off the record, everyone believes they must be, especially as new evidence surfaces about Leo’s finances and money skimming from Shelby’s place of employment. Fifteen months later, Mack’s husband still hasn’t been located and Shelby and her family become targets again. Some of the local senior citizens that Shelby looks after at Oleanders become involved to try to protect her and create a true crime vlog that goes viral with details about the happenings in their town. Then another body shows up and it’s a race against the clock to figure out who is behind this all and why, before someone else gets hurt.

I can always rely on SNG for a gripping and suspenseful thriller that I just can’t put down and can’t guess the twists or who the culprit is. This book has alternating POVs and fairly short chapters which kept my attention the entire time. The book still had me guessing at what was going to happen and who it was all the way at 75%!

Thank you so much to Seraphina, HTP, and Netgalley for the early read!

Shelby Dawson survives an attack that should have left her dead. The same night her best friend Mack's husband Leo disappears and no one knows why. Fifteen months later both women are trying to move on. But Shelby receives a note from her attacker and fears for her life and her family. Shelby's big question is who was her attacker? Mack questions whether her husband is still alive and finds a history of debt and hidden accounts. When a person connected to Shelby goes missing, a group of senior citizens start a podcast to find the attacker before he becomes a killer.

Make sure you put NOTHING EVER HAPPENS HERE on your tbr for February. Clear your day because you are not going to want to put this book down. Grab a blanket and cozy up on the couch as this story takes place in the Minnesota winter. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me guessing to the very suspenseful ending. I had no clue! It is told in multiple POV's and I loved Florence and the senior citizens group that added humor to the story.

Seraphina absolutely never disappoints. The only thing I will say about this is the wide array of characters had me lost at times. It was hard keeping track of everyone. But I absolutely did not see that plot twist. Not who I was guessing it was at all! I look forward to her next book.

I loved Seraphina Nova Glass's last book "Vacancy in Room 10" so couldn't wait to read this. The story is suspenseful and engaging with many twists and turns. Similar to "Vacancy" this story also has a band of misfit characters, in this case, a group of senior citizens who love to investigate true crime stories. The characters bring lightness and humor to a thriller that is otherwise pretty dark. Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing/Graydon House for the ARC. This was such a suspenseful and entertaining thriller that grabbed my attention right from the start! The plot was riveting and I could not put it down. My favorite part was the comic relief provided by the elderly residents at the senior living center, who added so much humor and heart to the story. This was such a great thriller and one of my favorites of the year! I highly recommend trading this one when it comes out in February!

Seraphina Nova Glass delivers a captivating thriller where the quiet life of a small town shatters under a looming threat, pulling you into its gripping tension right from the start. Shelby Dawson, still recovering from a violent attack, tries to move on with her life, but an ominous message on her car brings back her worst fears. As danger closes in, the town once known for its peacefulness turns into a hub of uncertainty and peril.

What makes this story truly engaging is its unlikely group of heroes—a band of senior citizens who become unexpected detectives. Their lighthearted but determined approach adds a refreshing and fun twist to the otherwise tense atmosphere. Their viral podcast pulls them into the center of the action, and suddenly, they are not just background characters but key players in uncovering the truth. Shelby’s bond with her best friend Mackenzie feels genuine, but it’s the seniors, especially the fearless Florence, who bring both humor and heart to the story.

The snowy Minnesota backdrop heightens the tension, with its freezing winds and long, silent nights, creating a chilling contrast to the unfolding drama. Glass masterfully weaves together misdirection and surprises, keeping readers on edge until the final reveal. This story is a rollercoaster of loyalty, fear, and resilience, as characters push themselves to the brink to uncover the answers they seek.

With plenty of twists and turns, this is a suspenseful and unpredictable tale filled with memorable characters and a plot that keeps you guessing. For anyone who enjoys thrillers packed with unexpected alliances, small-town unease, and clever surprises, this book is a must-read.

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing | Graydon House for sharing this unputdownable small town thriller's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I will read everything that Seraphina Nova Glass writes from this point forward. Her newest thriller Nothing Ever Happens Here had me hooked from the first chapter, when Shelby barely escapes death after being locked in the freezer at her best friend Mack's cafe. Mack's husband disappears the same night, and their sleepy small town is suddenly surrounded by mysterious deaths and seemingly unsolvable crimes. The detective is unfazed and unmotivated, but the people who Shelby loves most- her young twin daughters and the residents of the Oleander, the retirement community where she works - are in imminent danger. Can Florence, one of the spunkiest members of the Oleander crew, help find the culprit before someone else goes missing... or will she become the next victim?

The cast of characters is unforgettable and the reveal at the very end is deliciously unpredictable. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of this five star read!

I inhaled this one in a day! Reminded me immediately of my experience reading The Vacancy in Room 10, which was one of my favorite reads of 2023. Without a doubt, Seraphina Nova Glass is one of my auto-read/auto-buy authors for me!

Shelby and Mack are best friends living in a small town where “nothing ever happens.” Until it does. The same night Shelby survives a surprising attack, Mack’s burned Leo vanishes without a trace. Are the two incidents related? Months later many questions remain and an unlikely group of seniors turned sleuths wants to find answers!

I couldn’t get enough of Florence and her friends from the seniors building Shelby runs! They were quite a cast of characters and kept me engaged and entertained to the max. Multiple points of view, great pacing, amazing villain, I really loved all aspects of this story! This one is already one of my most memorable and favorite reads of 2024. I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR ASAP!

• A mix of mystery, cozy, and suspense set in a small Minnesota town
• Told from three points of view-two best friends and a senior citizen living in a retirement home
• Cute and suspenseful
• Small town vibe
• Easy to read mystery with a true podcast spin
• Too domestic and cozy and not enough thriller for my taste
