“Tell me a secret. Tell me a lie.” 🐎🏔️
Forever serving as the self-appointment Devney Perry fan club president…so I was clearly ecstatic when I was offered an ALC of her newest novel and the second in the Haven River Ranch series, SUNLIGHT. {Thank you to @valentine_pr_, @devneyperry, and @brilliancepublishing for the #gifted ALC to read and review!}
Literally no one…and I mean no one can make me like an accidental pregnancy trope, but Devney is the queen of them - and I love it every single time. Beyond accidental pregnancy, SUNLIGHT gives us coworkers, one night stand, small town, a ranch and a cowboy, forced proximity, and just all of the heartwarming moments from sometimes gruff characters that Perry is known for.
Another thing that you can always expect from a Devney Perry novel? An exceptional cast of characters! You know they always have full personalities and characters…and you are always left wishing and hoping they get their own book and love story next!
This was also my first book of hers listened to via audio - and I thought the dual narrators did a great job at bringing the characters to life and giving them emotional range! And it makes for a quick read - which was lovely since I spent so much time in the car last week.
There is just something about the way that Denvey Perry write her books. I was completely obsessed with Crossroads and this one was equally as good! Accidental pregnancy and forbidden romance are literally my jam and I will eat that up any day. Sasha and Jax had amazing chemistry and a truly emotional connection that you were feeling between the two of them. I loved seeing all the other characters from the previous books as well as seeing some other side stories.
The narrators of this book truly bough this to life for me. They made me feel like I was so immersed in this story that I was right there with the characters. Love love love!
such a cute small town/cowboy surprise pregnancy! Per usual, Devney always makes it so easy to get lost in her stories. I loved the push and pull of this one, and how they started as enemies but quickly became a unit. So so good!
stephen dexter and ava erickson were the perfect narrators for this book! dexter captured jax’s charm so well, and i always love listening to ava erickson.
another devney perry cowboy to love!!!! don’t mind if i do. this was the accidental pregnancy, cowboy romance i needed in my life!!! filled w chemistry, banter, tension, a little heartbreak and so much love.
jax haven is charming, caring and patient, determined to be the man that sasha deserves. sasha was so resilient and fiercely loyal to those she loves. i couldn’t have loved them more!! i adore this series so much!!
✨ALC Review for Sunlight wrriten by @devneyperry ✨
I have to start with the fact that Ms Perry has done it again! She had me in tears yet again! Not as much as Crossroads, but I did have a few sniffles here and there.
This book has tropes such as: Small town, Accidental Pregnancy, Workplace romance ect.
Sunlight is narrated by the talented voices Stephen Dexter and Ava Erikson for our Characters Jax and Sasha. Sasha, we briefly meet in the epilogue of Crossroads and there seems to be some tension between herself and Jax, and boy do we love tension ;).
Sunlight is set 7 years in the future from Crossroads!
Sasha is the new General manager for the ranch/resort. She’s a very secretive person, she and Jax meet 3 months before the main timeline at the grocery store when Sasha tries to take a shopping cart from the supermarket in town, Carla the owner only supplies paper bags, so Sasha can’t walk home with her several bags, Jax intervenes, and they hit it off. Once Sasha finds out Jax is Indiya’s brother-in-law she pretends not to know him even though she lusts after him, Sasha’s stand-offish nature rubs him the wrong way but Jax still lusts after her too.
I only recently listened to a few audiobooks narrated by Stephen and I wondered if he would be able to carry Jax’s flirty nature and boy did he smash the assignment, and I wondered if Ava had the voice to carry Sasha’s stand-offish nature and she did an excellent job and the chemistry between the characters was delivered with both of them.
This book had some spicy scenes but It did not need them! This book carried itself as much as its predecessor and the love they had for each other and the baby. They both had trauma but in the end they worked around it together as a couple and I just knew they would be end game!
Thank you to Valentine PR and Devney Perry for the opportunity to review this audiobook.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+!!!
if you’re sick of hearing me profess my undying love for devney perry and every single book she’s ever written, that’s too bad. i loved jax & sasha’s story so SO much. i don’t think any story could ever top my love for crossroads, but sunlight was a very, very close runner up. this story was just so sweet, heartwarming, and nostalgic— full of classic devney tropes in a new setting—it was impossible not to enjoy it!
jax and sasha are everything! i knew their story was gonna be a fun time—a small-town romance with a cowboy (who happens to be ber secret crush, oops...and her kinda sorta boss, double oops) that winds up in a positive pregnancy test?! who wouldn’t love that. but i didn’t expect it to be as intense and emotional as it was. jax and sasha’s romance wasn’t smooth sailing. it was hard and complicated, but they way they supported each other and grew to genuinely love one another made it all so worthwhile! their story plucked at my heartstrings, and even made me shed a tear or two near the end.
sasha & jax’s story is more than an accidental pregnancy romance. it’s about more than a girl who falls in love with her boss. it’s not simply a small-town cowboy romance. it’s chock full of forgiveness and redemption, and friendship and family. it’s a beautiful story about love and loss, and showing up through thick and thin 💛
i love them & i loved every minute of their story! it was so wonderful on audio—the narrators were incredible, as is always with any devney perry audiobook!
It's as entertaining and enjoyable as it is heartwarming, tender and swoon-worthy.
This year Devney is on a roll, dishing out one scrumptious book after the other and readers are lapping them up!! She's not only gifted but has honed her talent so that the writing is synonym of Perfection. My heart jumps everytime I get to read her words. Nobody pens small town feels with precise mix of sentiments, intrigue and heat like devney does. And add to it my fave micro rope of accidental pregnancy and I'm sold for a penny!!
"Tell me a lie"
"I hate Montana."
"Tell me a secret"
"I adore Devney"
This is my version of the banter shared by Jax Haven and Sasha who are working together in Haven River Ranch. He's her boss where's she's here for just the job. Only giving herself one drunken night was the plan. But plans have a habit of going awry. One morning, two pink lines later, their lives are upturned and they're both stunned.
Sasha is burdened. Her responsibility so huge, she's bent under the weight, Till Jax becomes her support. Strong people need hugs too, and his massive arms envelope her safely. Jax is all that an alpha protector is and was easy to fall in love with.
It was predictable but still Unputdownable. Pace is steady, banter funny and connection strong. I'm a devout fan so anything she writes is lapped up happily.
VPR gave me the ALC and I loved Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson's narration.
5 stars for My Darling Josephine
Thank you Netgalley, Valentine PR, and Devney Perry for the ALC. I am leaving this review voluntarily, and all opinions are my own.

I absolutely adore this series and the direction it is going! They are such emotional and beautiful books, and I’m having a hard time picking a favorite.
I loved the storyline - accidental pregnancy is one of my FAVES. Both narrators were phenomenal and brought the story to life.
OH MY how I love this series! The broody ranchers, the delicious tension, the idyllic setting, and the gentle and unexpected love stories that unfold capture my heart every time! Sunlight was such a sweet, swoony, and heart-filling love story. Chock full of tropes I adore (surprise baby! Small town broody rancher) and so much emotional tenderness, I gobbled this audio RIGHT UP. Devney pairs a sweet and fiery character chemistry with two really emotionally rich characters arcs - so this one definitely had
After Crossroads, I was SO excited to get Jax’s story. Not only to get his romantic HEA, but I’d hoped we’d get to dig into all of Jax’s family issues uncovered in Crossorwards. And Devney delivers all that and MORE. Not only do we come to terms with some family drama, but Jax also finds himself in a sexy frenemies attraction with the ranch’s new manager…and after one explosive night they find themselves unexpected parents to be.
I really related so much to Sasha. Yes, she’s closed off, untrusting, fiercely independent, and has some bite to her sweetness. But she’s also just HURTING and a bit broken by emotional scars. I loved watching her come to terms with being a mama, finding vulnerability and safety in Jax’s arms, seeing her soften and find her HOME after not having one for so long. And finding so much healing. And Jax too finds healing. He’s so deliciously sexy and swoony- he falls hard and fast and gives off major goldie vibes. He’s dreamy, but he’s also struggling with his own past pains. And both have to learn to open up…and to fast their pasts.
Their chemistry is really fun- tons of banter, tons of heat, but also so much emotional tenderness. It’s a romantic slow burn (after the fast burn of course)- but I really loved how they both fall before they even realize it. Their situationship becomes so much more. And i’m a HO for all the protective daddy to be energy. I loved how Sasha learned to lean on Jax, and he learned to lean on her too. I did find the twist a little predictable (more so I knew what it WASN"T LOL- that red herring) and the resolution felt a little easy for all the family drama, but I did appreciate the lower angst quality once they got together, and I'm glad these two found some closure with their pasts.
The audio was impeccably performed by Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson. I loved the vulnerability and emotional range both brought to the performances. I listened to this in one delicious sitting because I was so enamored.
Haven River Ranch is fast becoming one of my favorite Denvey worlds, and I hope we have more to come! And thank you SO Much Denvey for the amazing bookmail and this print that literally made me squeal from the cuteness! I can’t even with how wonderfully this captures this adorable couple. So excited to have these goodies for my Devney shelf!
About the book:

Accidental Pregnancy

Forced Proximity (Neighbors to Roommates)

Found Family
Sunlight follows West’s (our MMC from the first book) younger brother, Jax, and let me tell you. Jax’s story was a RIDE. Right off the bat Jax and Sasha have awesome chemistry and banter. After meeting for the first time, Jax asks Sasha out on a date and she almost agrees until she learns his name, and that he’s her new boss.
The way Devney Perry weaves together a story gets you invested with the characters emotionally is amazing. I didn’t want this story to end. Even after Sasha’s big secret is revealed, and Jax has the wrong reaction, you still love how authentic they feel. I’m already looking forward to being back at Haven River Ranch for book 3!!!
There are very few authors that can get me to enjoy an accidental pregnancy trope, and what a surprise…Devney is one of them. To be honest though, I’d read her grocery list if she published it.
Sunlight takes us back to Haven River Ranch and follows Sasha and Jax. Our main characters meet during a scuffle at the grocery store, and Jax can’t seem to understand why Sasha won’t take him up on his offer for a date, until he realizes she’s the new manager of the resort at his ranch. Her plan to ignore him was working out well, until one too many drinks at the annual holiday party. I think you know where this is going. 🤰🏼
I couldn’t get enough of Crossroads, so I was so happy to be back in this world with these characters. It’s such a feel good book, and a perfect listen. The narrators truly added to the experience for me.
I was lucky enough to receive an ALC of Sunlight by Devney Perry. This is book #2 in the Haven River Ranch series.
I received the first book in this series, Crossroads in my montly book box a few months back and really enjoyed it. It was my first foray into cowboy romance and I’m definitely here for it!
In Crossroads, we followed the story of Indy and Wes, while in Sunlight, we follow the story of Jax, co-owner of Haven River Ranch and Wes’ younger brother, and Sasha, the new girl in town.
Sasha is already on shaky ground moving to Montana from California, but when her first excursion into town results in a little scuffle at the local grocery store, she really starts questioning why she came here. Her apartment is less than ideal and now she is arguing with the owner of the store over a grocery cart. Before Sasha completely gives up, she spies the most handsome man she’s ever seen. The two get to talking and are really hitting it off, so much so that he asks her out on a date. But as soon as he tells her his name is Jax Haven, she had to turn him down and scurry away. After all, as the owner of Haven River Ranch, Jax isn’t her boss, but he wasn’t NOT her boss either.
Sasha spends the next several months trying to ignore Jax exists, but is not very successful. I mean, he’s completely gorgeous and charming and if looks could kill, he’d be the grim reaper in a cowboy hat and faded Wrangler jeans!
Then, at the annual holiday party, Sasha lets her guard down and her - and Jax’s life - change forever.
When reading this book, you can expect:
Small town
Cowboy romance
Forced proximity
Grumpy FMC
Mental health rep
Found family
Forbidden romance
He falls first
Friends to lovers
Thank you so much to Valentine PR and Denver Perry for selecting me for this ALC. I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next chapter of the Haven River Ranch series!

I listened to Sunlight & loved the narrators!

Devney Perry must have some magic in her writing because once I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down. I devoured it in less than 24 hours, and now I already wish I could read it again for the first time.
Her characters and the worlds she creates are so vivid and real. Haven River Ranch feels like one of my favorite places, and I genuinely wish it existed so I could go visit. I feel such a close connection to the characters in this book and in book one!
Every emotion hit me while reading this. I could imagine being best friends with Sasha—she’s hilarious, and I love her sense of humor. Jax reminds me so much of my significant other—deeply loving and a worrier, even when it’s not necessary. The "tell me a lie / tell me a secret" theme tugged at my heartstrings every time it came up. Honestly, I cried a lot, and it's because I could feel the love pouring through the pages, no matter what the characters were facing.
I could talk about these characters for forever. I’ll be recommending this book to all my friends. And even though accidental pregnancy isn't usually a favorite trope of mine, Devney Perry makes it work—Sasha and Jax completely won me over!
One of my favorite parts of being introduced to prospective love interests is their first meeting, and Sasha and Jax have a meet cure that leaves an undeniable impression. New to town and without transportation, Sasha is accused of attempting to steal a grocery cart from the local market (she was just borrowing it!), and in swoops Jax Haven to save the day with his good looks and effortless charm. *cue major swooning* The two strangers have an easy rapport along with an instant chemistry, but an unexpected connection between them puts a quick end to their would-be romance. But little does Jax know that the woman who piqued his interest is the new manager at Haven River Ranch, bringing them together in close quarters, thus putting Sasha on guard, and wary of potential scandal with her new employer…
Months of growing tension working alongside each other has created a dynamic between Jax and Sasha that’s equal parts attraction and antagonism, and it all comes to a head when one night of unparalleled passion results in unexpected consequences. With a baby on the way, the two have to put aside their differences to figure out their future, and whether or not that includes a potential romance between them.
Primarily a character-driven narrative, what makes Sunlight such a captivating, swoon-worthy read is the slow-building relationship between two such contrasting personalities. Jax is upfront, wearing his emotions on his sleeves, while Sasha is locked up tight, mysterious and guarded (even from readers), and reluctant to lower her defenses. The process of them opening up to each other, and chipping away at their emotional barriers is long and painstaking, and filled with obstacles, but their romance is so sweet and heartfelt (and steamy, let’s be honest) that you can’t help but root for them as a couple.
At its heart, Sunlight is a story about love and connection, whether romantic or familial. It’s about two individuals going through life, knowing there’s something essential that’s missing, and recognizing in each other the potential to fill in that missing puzzle piece, even if it means embarking on a new and unexpected journey. Sunlight is another must-read romance from Devney Perry, that’s impossible to put down once you get started, and I can’t recommend it enough!
Warming your heart, just like a ray of Sunlight, nobody does unexpected pregnancy books quite like Devney. If you’re looking for the perfect small town, cowboy romance that’ll make you YEE-HAW, this is it. WHEW!! Infinite stars.

Audiobook: 10/10 for the narration—brilliantly done! I could listen to Stephen Dexter & Ava Erickson narrate any book.
I loved the first book in this series Crossroads. I didn't love this one as much, but I still found it a great read. The characters came with their own baggage, then one hot night turned into how are we going to co-parent? I'm happy they found their way for a beautiful HEA.
Thank you, Devney and NetGalley, for the ALC. The audio was spot on!
Man I couldn't put this one down I was instantly sucked in.
Book 2 is set 5 YEARS after Crossroads! So there is lots of growth and family and the ranch is growing! So much so that a new manager is brought in to help Indy delegate and Sasha arrives at Haven River Ranch. With the cutest meet-cute, Sasha and Jax are instantly drawn to each other. But when she finds out that he's technically her boss, she puts a full stop to her feelings - or she tries to anyway.
As their environment and work brings them into each other's orbits time and time again, they can't help but end up crashing into each other. Jax can't help but be drawn to the elusive creature that is Sasha while she is doing her best to keep her distance and not form attachments as her past and responsibilities as to why she is in Montana in the first place weigh heavily on her.
As they fall for each other, Jax is SWOONY! He never gives up on her and sees just how special she is from day one. He gives her the grace and space she needs to really open up, allow herself to be vulnerable and eventually make her love living in Montana. In turn, Sasha is so boggled down by her past that she's too scared to truly live in her present and allow herself to dream of her future. With Jax's help, Sasha learns to let down her guard and rely on him. They compliment each other so well and bring out the best in each other while helping the other heal from their pasts. They make each other better and that's what we all hope for when we choose our partners! They are beautiful and their love story was perfection!
Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson did wonderfully on this title. They brought out so much personality in these characters that I am not sure I would've truly felt or seen had I not heard it in their performances. I haven't listened to a Stephen Dexter title in months and man it was such a great title to hear him on - what a great performance!
Ooooooo I can't wait for a HOPEFULLY book 3!!
I thought this was an excellent continuation of the Haven River Ranch series! I loved the slow build romance, I loved how Jax cared for Sasha and gave her time and space. I also loved seeing all of the other characters again! This is one of my favorite series!
This book was even better than the first and I gave Crossroads five stars too!
I'm obsessed with these characters and I absolutely loved their story!
Just everything about Sasha had me wanting to cry and want the best for her.
And I may have foamed at the mouth for Jax and his dirty spicy scenes!
So happy with the HEA, a perfect ending for this perfect couple.
I won't give any spoilers but it was so sweet and I loved it so much!!
Thank you so much to Valentine PR, Devney Perry and NetGalley for this ALC.
