Sunlight is the kind of romance that pulls you in and doesn’t let go and I was hooked from the moment Sasha ends up in a hilarious tug-of-war over a grocery cart with a stranger. Enter Jax Haven—the rugged, dreamy cowboy who isn’t just handsome but also happens to be tied to her new job.

The chemistry between them is undeniable from the start, and their banter is super fun. Watching the Sasha try to resist her obvious crush on Jax is both hilarious and heartwarming. And when things get serious (hello, surprise pregnancy!), you really feel for them as they navigate the complicated, unexpected turns life throws their way.

Devney Perry has single handedly convinced me that a trip to Montana is must. The way she describes Haven River Ranch had me falling in love with Montana right alongside Sasha.

Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson did a phenomenal job bringing Jax and Sasha to life. Listening to their chemistry unfold was such a treat. You really feel the tension and the flirty moments, and when things get serious, the emotion in their voices pulls you right in.

Overall, Sunlight is perfect if you’re in the mood for a heartfelt romance with lots of sparks, some laughs, and just the right amount of drama. 💕

This is book 2 in the Haven River Ranch series and after reading CROSSROADS I knew I had to read Jax’s book! I flew through this audiobook. I enjoyed the journey of Sasha and Jax falling in love and I loved Jax in this one. He was so loving and adored Sasha from the moment he met her. Sasha had her guard up, but their chemistry and tension was strong! There were so many tender and heartwarming moments.

One of my favorite parts of this book was the “tell me a lie/ tell me a secret” aspect - my heart 😍 I am also one who doesn’t mind an accidental pregnancy trope and this one was so sweet and healing. The ending just made me smile!

+ forced proximity
+ cowboy romance
+ accidental pregnancy
+ small town
+ he’s her boss

Sunlight
Author: Devney Perry
Rating: 5⭐️

I absolutely LOVED this book. I loved Jax and Sasha so much. I loved how they never gave up on each other even though it definitely would have been easier to do that. I loved the healing journey that both of them went on from the different traumas they had both faced.

I have loved every single one of @devneyperry’s cowboy romances. She just knows exactly what to do. Then you through in an accidental pregnancy (another one of her specialties) and it’s an instant five star for me.

I loved every time we had a scene with “Tell me a lie. Tell me a secret.” It was their way of opening up to each other. When they said “I love you” had my heart melting.

Devney definitely had me guessing with the whole Eddie situation. Let’s just say I loved the way it ended with him!

5 Star Review Sunlight (Haven River Ranch 2) by Devney Perry

Ebook/Audio:

This was an entertaining small town story that ticked all the boxes for me. From the first chapter I was hooked on the story that was told. Jax Haven and Sasha were easy to relate to and I really liked them.

The chemistry between them was strong and I found myself laughing out loud on a number of occasions. Both Jax and Sasha have not had easy lives and I felt for the at times.

Narrated by Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson who certainly brought the story to life for me. Their voices are easy to listen to and they did justice to the story that Ms. Perry wrote.

Jax Haven is known as a playboy around town, and hasn’t had to work hard to have a few fun nights with women. When he overhears a heated discussion in the grocery store parking lot between the store owner and a beautiful stranger, he steps in to play white knight. When the stranger turns him down

Sasha is the new manager at Haven River Ranch, hired to take over the hotel while India is on maternity leave. Though there is immediate chemistry with Jax, she locks it up when she learns who he is. She has reasons for being in Montana, but hates so much about it as she tries to settle into her new home, new town, and new situation.

I loved the way this story progressed. Jax and Sasha started with quick, flirty banter that was shut down as soon as Sasha learned that Jax was effectively her new boss. The slow burn that built even as she did her best to keep distance between them kept the tension rising. There was a slight mystery running through Sasha’s storyline and I enjoyed trying to figure out the connection and how that thread was going to play out.

The unexpected pregnancy added a depth to this story that was perfect for what both Jax and Sasha were dealing with as far as their own family dynamics go. I loved Sasha’s feelings about the future and loved watching as she let down her walls for Jax as the pregnancy progressed.

Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson narrated this story fantastically. I listened to this book early and even relistened to portions and loved every minute of it. As a follow on to Crossroads, I loved returning to Haven River Ranch with some time elapsed between books. Seeing West and India settled down was a nice addition and something I always look forward to in Devney’s continuing series. I can’t wait for more from this family!

I’ve been looking forward to Jax’s story!
This was a great swoony story with drama, angst, and mystery. I enjoy accidental pregnancy tropes, and Devney Perry does them so well.

Jax and Sasha have great chemistry from the start. Their meet cute out the local grocery store so funny and the flirt game is strong. That is until she realizes he’s her boss and one of the resort owners she's about to work for. She pushes him away until one night she gives in. That one night changes everything and now they are going to be parents together.

Jax and Sasha are perfect together! They are both beautiful complicated souls who are battling with things from their past. Jax is so present and accepting of his new upcoming roll as a Dad. He incredibly patient with Sasha and her secrets. Sasha incredibly strong with everything she's had to deal with. She's there for Jax and his demons.

This story will make you swoon, blush, and possible tear up.

🎧- Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson were perfect narrators for this story.

Thank you Valentine PR and Devney Perry for this ALC!!

As we return to the Haven River Ranch we are once again in the company of Jax and West Haven, brothers and co-owners of the ranch resort.

An impromptu meeting with a stranger in town is cut abruptly short when said stranger discovers Jax's identity.

Sasha turns out to be the new manager of the ranch and she's put herself in a 'no go' area, especially for Jax.

In true romance novel style though, things don't quite go to plan and an unexpected pregnancy is the result.

The story of Sasha and Jax is beautiful in its vulnerabilities. Neither of our main characters have had it easy, albeit for very different reasons but Jax is invested in a new life with Sasha and the baby even when she's not so sure of the whole thing!

I really enjoyed this book, especially the banter between our MCs - the audio version (especially as we can listen and read) was sensational with the dialogue scenes bringing

the story, the anxiety and the vulnerabilities of each character right to the fore.

Is the Haven River Ranch series really finished or can we anticipate more 'love on the range' in the future? One can only keep hoping!

Tell me a lie… breakfast isn’t dinner food.

Bold face lie. And that's precisely when I fell for West Haven; when he declared breakfast for dinner is top tier comfort food.

Cross Roads was my first Devney Perry book and I quickly dove into her backlist. When I got an early ALC of Sunlight I audibly yelped… I love me a small town romance, what can I say?!

I definitely missed the part of the advertising for this book that told us we got an accidental pregnancy so imagine my face when all of a sudden Sasha finds herself knocked-up. I was shooketh.. But in the best way!

I love when books throw a baby as us. As a mom I recognize there is absolutely nothing harder than being a mom. Add that into a small town romance book and i will gobble that shit up.. And gobble i did.

Sasha is the most reluctant FMC I have encountered in a while and poor Jax just wants to love her, like he's borderline obsessed with her and ready to just wrap her into his life forever as soon as she says the word.

I love how this one played out, giving us a longer timeline that other books, making their developing relationships seem more realistic. Nothing felt forced, it was all just so natural and I am already thinking about going back and rereading this when my physical copy comes in… I mean look how pretty that cover is. How could I not order a copy for my shelf?!

I have only read 2 Devney Perry books but it’s official. Count me in as part of the “If Devney Perry Writes It, I Will Read It” club because I loved this book.

After meeting Jax is the first Haven River Ranch book, I was excited to see where his story was gonna go. The banter between the main characters is off the charts right from the beginning of the book. There was never a moment when I wasn’t rooting for them.

- small town
- cowboy romance
- forced proximity
- accidental pregnancy
- he falls first

Usually, any book that has any kind of pregnancy or single mom/dad trope is a no go for me, but for Devney I will make an exception. It was well written and never once made me feel like the main love story was taking a backseat to the pregnancy.

I really hope there are many more Haven River Ranch books coming because I adore this series.

5 Having the Unexpected Happen Stars!!

I’ve been a devotee of Devney Perry’s books since she released her very first book. Not only have I read all of them, multiple times, but I’ve listened to almost all of them as well. Having said this, Sunlight has literally jumped into my Top 5 of Devney’s books. I loved Sasha and Jax so much.

They have a true meet cute in the parking lot of the local grocery store, when Sasha first moves to town and I immediately was hooked! Little did either of them know that their futures were soon going to be linked together permanently even if Sasha did everything she could to avoid this sexy as sin cowboy who’s kind of her boss, but not really.

Jax is a man on a mission when it comes to Sasha and after all their encounters that included some fabulous witty banter and chemistry that’s just crackling, the ultimate happens and there’s a little gift headed their way in nine months!

This book is a little bit of a rollercoaster ride. There’s some secondary characters that grabbed my heart and there were a few times that my heart. And when some secrets are revealed it almost hurt worse than I thought possible. Sasha is a woman that is focused and determined in this life that she’s building at Haven River Ranch and falling in love wasn’t at the top of her list. But when you’ve got to fall, Jax is the perfect man to catch you!

In this book we also get a little bit more of background on the Haven family and so many things make sense, although they hurt at the same time. This book is filled with forgiveness and healing which I absolutely adored.

I was lucky enough to listen to the amazing Ava Erickson and Stephen Dexter narrate this book and oh my stars, I was captivated by them bringing every character and scene to life! There’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll be reading and/or listening to this book again and again!

One of my favorite books of the year! Devney Perry never disappoints. Sunlight was everything I wanted in a romance and I had no idea it would lead to a surprise pregnancy! My favorite trope for sure.

♾️ stars <3

Sunlight surpassed all my expectations and then some. Sasha’s move to Montana and Haven River Ranch is a beautiful fresh start for her, and then a hilarious meet-cute with Jax is the start of something incredible. Devney has brilliantly crafted the tension between Jax and Sasha, showing their frustration for each other slowly turn to lust and then more. Much more.

✨ small-town
✨ cowboy romance
✨ surprise pregnancy
✨ dislike to love

Jax and Sasha are inevitable. Their chemistry undeniable. With a rocky start and a lot of dislike on Sasha’s part, her interactions with Jax have been angst-filled. One unexpected night and everything changes—a beautiful and heartwarming change for the better.

Sunlight is the brilliant new addition to the cowboy romance series making romance readers swoon. It’s clear that Haven River Ranch has placed itself at the forefront of cowboy romance readers’ shelves, making us fall in love with two handsome ranchers and their way of life.

Jax and Sasha are inevitable. Their chemistry undeniable. With a rocky start and a lot of dislike on Sasha’s part, her interactions with Jax have been angst-filled. One night and everything changes—for the better.

Sunlight delves deep in Jax and Sasha, the depth of their own history’s and complexities slowly coming to light. There’s vulnerability in Sunlight like no other. As Sasha is forced to trust in others, something she’s not had to do in the longest time, I empathised with her as I learned more about her.

Jax and Sasha are unlike any other characters I’ve read. They’re opposites but made for each other, even when Sasha doesn’t want to admit it.

And Devney allows us, like Sasha, to fall in love with Jax, and Montana in the most beautiful of ways. I said this about Crossroads, but Devney has such a stunning skill with words that makes you feel a part of the Montana landscape, to be on the ranch and breathe in everything.

Sunlight is different to Devney’s other romances, this series deeper and more profound in the characters and their lives. We see so much of Jax and Sasha as they lay themselves bare for the other, to allow themselves in, to be vulnerable, to share their secrets. And I love it completely. But it’s not simple Jax and Sasha, it’s the snippets of Indya and West, of Curtis and Lily, and Emery, Zak. A different kid of family is represented here, but a seriously important one nonetheless.

This is it. Haven River Ranch is THE cowboy romance series of 2024.

Devney’s cowboy romance era hits hard and is here to stay.

You aren’t ready for how perfect Jax and Sasha are. I can’t wait for you all to return to Haven River Ranch in Sunlight.

After meeting Jax in Crossroads, I couldn't wait for his book. I love a good opposites attract, and these two were just what the other one needed. This playful and charming playboy needed someone just like Sasha to tame his ways.

Devney knows how to write a surprise pregnancy, and the narrators for this book were so perfect for these characters. It's just so easy to fall into the storyline and imagine the setting of Devney's books, and this one was no different. I loved this couple's meet-cute, the secondary plot-line that keeps you guessing for a good portion of the book, and the character development of Sasha.

I'll admit that Sasha was a tough heroine for me to like but Jax handled her with care and the spontaneity and passion that she needed. As more and more of her backstory is revealed, you will understand and empathize why she is as guarded as she is; and you'll fall more in love with Jax with his persistence of getting his girl.

I devoured this audiobook and can't wait for what's next in this series. Well done once again D Perry!

I have yet to read a Devney Perry Book and be disappointed and Sunlight was just the others! Each book I read by her gets better and better!

I loved the dynamic between Sasha & Jax. The banter and the way the story was set up started the book on the right food and didn't disappoint.

Forever a Devney Fan and will continue to read or listen to anything she writes!

The narration between the two also so fantastic. The chemistry made you believe it right from the start.

Sun light is book two in the Haven River Ranch series. Ever since Crossroads, I have been excited for Jax' story and it did not disappoint! This book takes place about 7 years after the first one so it was nice to see the time pass and see how West and Indya are!

Jax and Sasha's love story was a slight slow burn but I really enjoyed it! Their chemistry is undeniable. I just love a protective cowboy. Despite getting pregnant by accident, Jax was immediately ready to be there for Sasha and their unborn child. Their tell me a lie game was so cute!

This series is turning into one of my favorites by Devney for sure!

"It's never been temporary, baby."

Audio was great too!

I have no words for how much I loved this book. I couldn’t do anything around my house without listening to this one!

The instant chemistry between Sasha and Jax followed by their banter throughout the book was just so much fun. I enjoyed both of their characters so so much.

The underlying backstory involving Sasha kept me guessing throughout the book and I was honestly shocked by the end.

It was a great story about moving on, growing, and the beauty of found family.

Honestly, this is probably going to be in my top 10 books from this year it was absolutely incredible.

"tell me a lie" "I hate Montana" "tell me a secret" "I love you"

UGH, I want to stay in Haven River Ranch forever. One of my favorite things about Devney Perry's writing is that she doesn't mess around, she gets right to the point & gives the people what they want - and this was no exception.

small town / cowboy romance, accidental pregnancy, forced proximity, grumpy/grumpy? ("I'm grumpy" "Me too" "wanna be grumpy together?")

Thanks to this book, I have come to the realization that I actually do enjoy the accidental pregnancy trope, when done like this. Where it's a one night stand and they don't just get together out of obligation, but because as they prepare for the baby they genuinely fall for each other. It's so much more believable and satisfying

Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson are elite audiobook narrators.

Wow. This book was amazing. Sasha and Jax were such great characters.

I loved Jax and loved learning about his past, which hurt my heart. He was so good with Sasha and the pregnancy. He took Sasha’s feelings and concerns about the pregnancy seriously and didn’t make her feel bad about it. The way he took care of her made me love him even more.

I loved Sasha because she was a strong woman, who knew what she wanted and needed to do. The way she expressed her concerns regarding her pregnancy were very realistic and I feel like any woman could relate. She had a tough past, so it took a lot for her to let Jax break down her walls. I loved her chemistry with Jax.

This book flowed nicely. There are small time jumps but it worked really well. I did get the ALC and the narrators, Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson, did a fantastic job. This will be an audiobook I won’t forget. I would 100% recommend!

Thank you Denver Perry, Valentine PR and NetGalley for the ALC for an honest review.

I went into this book blind and I’m so glad I did! It was so precious! I loved the way Perry describes how Sasha's walls come down. She’s so type A with her routines and organization, I love how Jax helped loosen her up. She is so well characterized with her brokenness and being so run down. The way Jax loved her fiercely despite her walls and hesitation definitely will make you swoon. I enjoyed both narrators and thought they each did a good job.
