4.5 ⭐️

I was so excited to get back to Haven River Ranch for Jax & Sasha. I was lucky enough to get the audiobook. Stephen Dexter & Ava Erickson did a phenomenal job and making you feel like you were on the ranch. When I listen to a audiobook especially this one I can really picture everything laid out like it’s a movie.

Jax had a complicated past with his family and I felt so bad for him, it broke my heart to hear how he was treated growing up. How he was with Sasha and how much he wanted her from day one when they meet at the grocery store. He knew she was meant to be his even if it took her awhile to figure it all out. It really took awhile for Sasha to let Jax all the way in, however the chemistry was so good between these two but the banter was top notch. These two definitely had me giggling 🤭. I loved the “Tell me a secret. “ & “Tell me a Lie.” Throughout the whole book. It honestly really made the book.
I absolutely loved Sasha character. She was sarcastic to whereas Jax was charming. Even though these two were complete opposites they still were perfect for one another.

The whole time I was trying to guess who Eddie was to Sasha. So I was kept in the dark until the end. I really like how it came to and didn’t take a hit to Sasha & Jax relationship.

Devney really hit home for me with this small town & cowboy romance. I truly loved every second of this book.

Jax and Sasha meet during a dispute over a shopping cart at the grocery store. Ever the gentleman, Jax helps sort it out and they have a fun, banter filled conversation... until he tells her his last name. What he doesn't know, and she has just realized, is that she is the new manager of the resort and, technically, he's her boss. It becomes clear when she pretends to have never met him when they are officially introduced, that their "meet cute" is going nowhere.

Sasha is in Montana temporarily. She's there for reasons we won't know for most of the book ad the last thing she needs is to get involved with her boss. It doesn't matter that he is totally charming.

A work function, a few glasses  of champagne, forced proximity and they can't resist anymore. Sasha kind of ghosts him afterwards, but two lines show up on a pregnancy test...

Oh my heart, I loved this one! You definitely get a soft spot for Jax because of his past and you are intrigued by Sasha's secrets.  I love the way they found to learn about each other ("Tell me a secret." "Tell me a lie.") and how committed they are to the little one that surprised them.

The audiobook is narrated dual style by Ava Erickson and Stephen Dexter. Ava's sweet tone is perfect for the hurting and vulnerable Sasha, who's trying her best to stay afloat and to navigate her feelings for Jax and the new pregnancy. Stephen's deep and charismatic voice also fits the cocky but sentimental cowboy to a T.

A romance in the snowy Montana mountains, full of family drama, mysterious letters, "secrets and lies", a lot of healing and lots of love. I absolutely loved their story!

Thanks, Devney and ValentinePR for the advanced listen.

Content notes: estranged relationships with family members, child abandonment, loss of parents, accidental pregnancy

Just like every other Devney Perry book I immediately felt drawn to the characters. I loved seeing the growth of both Sasha and Jax. I wish Haven was a real place because I would love to see it!

Loved!! Jax abs Sasha were so perfect together. I love how Jax stepped up amidst the big surprise of becoming a dad. He didn’t let that scare him away.

*3.5 stars!
Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series and I enjoyed it! I didn’t love it as much as Crossroads (there is just something about that book for me) but this was still a solid read!! Sunlight has all the cozy, small town romance vibes with the accidental pregnancy trope and I ate it up!

After reading Crossroads, I was so intrigued by Jax’s character and this book did not disappoint. Jax’s backstory was so sad but I loved getting to be in his head and see his perspective on things. Sasha is closed off at first from her previous traumas but it was so sweet to see her open up for Jax. Jax is obsessed with Sasha from the moment he meets her (their meet cute is so cute and funny) and their back and forth banter was just too good!! The communication between them was perfect. They took the time to build a friendship, work on themselves, and learn how to properly communicate/lean on each other for their romantic relationship and their child. I am hoping this series continues because I NEED a book on Emery!!

Side note: Jax being so protective of his family and friends, especially Emery, had me weepy at times! He loves his people so hard in all capacities!

🎧The narration by Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson was solid! Sometimes the FMC’s narration sounded a bit juvenile but Stephen captured the Jax’s voice in my head perfectly . Despite this, I will definitely be picking up more books narrated by them!

Thank you to Devney Perry, Valentine PR, Brilliance Publishing and NetGalley for the ALC. 💛

Take me back to Haven River Ranch!!! I love it there!

Reviewing the audio (ALC), and I enjoyed it so much! Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson did a fantastic job with Jax & Sasha! Stephen brought Jax & his golden retriever heart to life so well, & Ava never misses! She was perfection as Sasha, & did an incredible job bringing all of her emotions through!

I was super excited for Jax's story, even if he was a little shit at times in the first book, Crossroads, lol. This one is 6-7 years post Crossroads, so he has grown up & is much more mature! He really has the sweetest heart, and loves his family & friends fiercely. This man is DOWN BAD for Sasha from their first meeting, & I love to see it. I won't spoil anything, but they are forced together & to see them fall together is so good (& spicy!). Jax's growth from Crossroads to now is more than just with himself, it spreads to his relationship with Lilly as well. I was so glad to see that relationship delved into a little deeper here!

Sasha, sweet Sasha! I adored her! Her strength, her independence, her grit, she is willing to do whatever she can to take care of herself. Love the mystery around her too, and while I won't spoil anything here either, the way that played out made me cry in heartbreak and then again with happy tears!

All in all, I absolutely loved this one! Can't wait for what's next from this series! I think we already got the hint & I AM READY!

The secret is out… I freaking LOVED this book! It was so good being back at Haven River Ranch. Jax and Sasha’s story was so wonderful and beautifully written. They had instant chemistry and OH MY Jax 😍 He was kind, funny and so patient with Sasha. I really felt for Sasha. She’s new to Montana and has so much going on in her life that we learn throughout the story and she really wants to trust Jax. I also wasn’t expecting this book to make me cry (a few times) but these characters were so relatable and you could feel their emotions through the narrators.

I could not put this book down! I highly recommend this series!

Loved being back @ Haven River Ranch! Loved Jax & Sasha’s story! Devney Perry’s characters are so well-developed and these two are no exception. Their growth, both individually and as a couple, was so fun to experience, especially after they find out about their little Josephine. 🥰 I’m excited for what’s to come in this series! I listened to this via audio and narration was GREAT! Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson were PERFECT for these two characters!

You ever read a book and you become so consumed by it that you can’t stop reading it? And then you finish it in less than 24 hours and are mad because you read it too quickly? That is this one, when I read the first in the series, Crossroads – I just knew that this series would be special and one that I will forever find myself coming back to and I was right. Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series and I will forever wish I could read it again for the first time. The characters that Devney creates and the world she has them set in is something that feels familiar, these people feel like they are your friends and family and you come to know them so intimately that you find yourself longing to visit a place you’ve never been to have a cup off coffee with them or go out on a trail ride through the mountains of Montana. Ugh I just love this series so much already.

I am not a crier, like I cry, sure but it takes a lot for me to cry because of a book and man I cried at this one – there were so many beautiful moments intertwined in this book between not only Jax and Sasha, but between everyone. The Haven’s love their people hard and it is so evidently shown throughout the book. Jax and Sasha’s meet cute is one of my favorites of all time. Right off the rip from the first chapter the two characters meet for the first time and what ensues is honestly hilarious and sets us up for an incredible story. From the mystery surrounding Eddie to Jax’s strained relationship with Lilly, right alongside everything that is happening with Jax and Sasha there is so much story within the story. I couldn’t get enough.

Their chemistry is undeniable and I loved that they both tried to deny it for as long as they could until one night they let it all lose and their lives change forever – for the better. I like many other don’t prefer an accidental pregnancy trope, but I will say if anyone could make me like it it’d be Devney Perry. She wrote this trope with such raw and real emotions. Sasha has been through something in her past, something that at the time of becoming pregnant she finds it hard to fathom her being a mother, let alone being a good one. I very much loved that Jax comforted her, he let her slip away but not long – he let whatever was playing out in her head play out but was a constant in letting her know he would be there for not only her but for the baby. He was patient with her when she needed patience, but little by little broke down those walls until she finally let him in.

I love that we didn’t fall in love with Jax right way, much like Sasha didn’t either, we fell in love with Jax right along side her. And vice versa, we along side Jax are slowly unraveling everything that is Sasha and falling in love with her. These two are definition of opposites attract and together they couldn’t be more perfect for each other. This book is written in a romcom kind of way as there are some funny moments, but also explores some heavier topics, ones that the characters have to work through in order to be better together. They are heartbreaking, they hurt, but I promise your heart will be put back together by the end of it. I absolutely loved this book and I have zero complaints about it.

The narrators were incredible and I couldn't have picked better narrators for both Sasha and Jax, they just worked so well! The audiobook was so good!

Thank you so much to Valentine PR for the ALC in exchange for an honest review! I absolutely loved it.

Review:
Did I finish this book or did it finish me? 🥹Seriously, I have enjoyed every Devney Perry book. The Edens Series has been my favorite forever, but the Haven River Ranch series may just dethrone them. Crossroads was amazing and Sunlight is perfection 💛

I devoured this book. I cried through the last few chapters. Jax and Sasha have my heart. Their separate stories broke my heart and their partnership put it back together 🫶🏼 I love them! It was also fun to see more of West and Indya 💜 I recommend reading Crossroads first to get the full experience, but this can be read as a standalone.

Favorite Quotes:
“You’re carrying my Josephine. That’s not exactly freeloading.”

“She was going to have everything that I’d missed for 10 years. Everything truly important in this world. Lucky girl. My girl. We weren’t alone.”

I listened to this book on NetGalley. Stephen Dexter & Ava Erickson did a great job!

4.5 stars ⭐️ Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series. Jax Haven met Sasha when she was stealing a cart from the grocery store, because she couldn’t handle all of her grocery bags. Sasha is the new manager of the ranch, and Jax is one of the owners. One night, Sasha relaxed and after trying to ignore Jax from their first meeting, she couldn’t deny their chemistry. Come a couple months later, Sasha is pregnant. Jax is a playboy, but he didn’t pursue anyone since he met Sasha. He loved her since the shopping cart incident. He immediately called their child Josephine the moment he found out Sasha was pregnant. Sasha was a harder character to get to know. She was closed off and prickly. Jax was able to break through her walls. There were different subplots that took away time from Sasha and Jax, but one was setting up the next book in the series. The other subplot was an integral part of Sasha’s backstory that needed to be told. I wanted to know about her sooner, but that wouldn’t have been part of her characterization. The chemistry was there and Jax was a great hero! I enjoyed seeing Indy and West, seven years after their book ended. I enjoyed the growth we saw in Jax’s parents. I enjoyed Sunlight, but ultimately, I loved Crossroads!

Tropes:
- accidental pregnancy
- forced proximity
- small town
- cowboy romance

CW: death of parents off page, domestic violence off page (not MMC or MFC), family drama

Thank you to Devney Perry, Valentine PR, and Netgalley for the ALC! Ava Erickson and Stephen Dexter were perfect!

Wow! Devney has done it again!

We are back in Haven River Ranch after seven years and we now get to hear Jax’s story.

He meets Sasha at a grocery store and it turns out that she’s going to be the new ranch manager while Indya is on maternity leave.

We watched these two beat around the bush for far too long before they accidentally become pregnant

We get to see them get through their own fears of life while working together to figure out how to be the best parents they can be .

The story was so heartfelt and sweet and just what was needed to finish out this duet.

I was so lucky to listen to this on audio and it was perfection! Cannot recommend enough!

Wow I really didn’t want to put this one down. Luckily I got the ALC and didn’t have to!
Jax is the cowboy we all love to read about. I loved that we got to see their relationship progress from the very beginning and grow into something so beautiful. I was hanging onto every little crumb of interaction we got from them.
Another little mystery aspect woven into the story as well. Devney really knows how to keep me hooked. I must know what happens and every single detail along the way is so worth it.
She builds beautiful relationships. Whether that be familial, romantic, or friendly, I love how each is formed and portrayed.
I was chomping at the bits for West and Indya content. We got bits here and there. And she fully delivered on crumbs for future books as well. I cannot wait to see (and read) what’s coming!
The audio for this book is amazing! For sure the way to read if you enjoy audiobooks. I wouldn’t have rather done it any other way.
Thank you Devney Perry and Valentine PR for the ALC

After absolutely loving *Crossroads* (Book 1) and eagerly anticipating my return to Haven River Ranch, *Sunlight*unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. I struggled to connect with the characters this time. Despite their traumatic pasts and the difficulties they faced, I found it hard to relate to them on an emotional level. The emotions in the story, while present, didn’t move me as much as I had hoped.

That being said, Devney Perry’s talent as a writer still shines through. Her writing is as beautiful as ever, and there were several passages that I really enjoyed. It’s hard to read one of her books without appreciating her skill in creating vivid settings and tender moments. The epilogue, in particular, was very sweet and added a nice touch to the story. Though this wasn’t my favorite, I’m still excited to see where she takes the series next.

Sasha was too insecure hiding things while jax was telling her his secrets and hoping to have a relationship with her. There wasnt enough communication and Sasha wanted to hide the pregnancy from everyone because she didn't like how they created the child.Jax is caring friendly and helpful and cheerful while Sasha is grumpy.
Sasha secret was his brother Eddie, who was in a school for trouble kids and how she took care of him when he was seven and she was 18 after her parent die. Lily was the hardest to like because the way he treated jack and jack wanted a lom and liky would correct him to call her lily that broke my heart for him.
i love the narrators love their voices and the emotions they brought to the table. I just wanted a better plot to the book.

3.5 stars. Sunlight is a cowboy romance with an accidental pregnancy, set in a small town, has forced proximity, and is a workplace romance (he’s her boss)!

I loved Crossroads, the first book in this series, so I definitely had high hopes for this one. While I didn’t end up loving this one as much, it’s still a solid release. Jax Haven has shares/is part co-owner of his family’s Haven River Ranch, alongside his brother and sister-in-law (the couple of the first book). The new manager at the ranch is Sasha and when she needs a place to live, she’s invited to stay in one of the guest houses on property…right across from Jax!

This takes place 7 years after the first book, so it was nice seeing all the time pass. We definitely get a lot of glimpses into how West and Indya are doing! After an emotional night leads to a hookup, Sasha realizes she’s pregnant and her and Jax figure out how to handle it all together. I’m good with surprise pregnancy stories, usually Devney has always delivered on these in the past. But there are just a lot of additional plots added on to this story that I honestly just wasn’t as invested in with these characters. They sadly just never pulled me in.

I had an audio ALC of this one and also had a difficult time with the hero’s narration (sometimes the voice sounded too juvenile/the way a kid would talk or something and it took me out). All thoughts in this review are my own.

Thank you Valentine PR for this ALC!

Aaahhh, I don't know which book I like more - Crossroads or Sunlight. I was super intrigued about Jax and Sasha from the epilogue of Crossroads and this exceeded my expectations! Loved listening to this story.

The audiobook narrators did an amazing job - every voice for different characters was distinct and enhanced my listening experience. The dialogue was clear, the emotions were seeped in their voices and I just had a good time. I listened to this audiobook in basically a sitting and the narration was a contributing factor.

The story itself was so breathtakingly poignant but uplifting at the same time. I didn't particularly care for the surprise pregnancy trope but Devney Perry did a spectacular job - it did not seem contrived or icky. It just seemed so realistic and raw. There were also so many sensitive topics and complex family dynamics which I felt were handled so well and respectfully.

In a similar vein with Crossroads, Devney Perry convinced me again of how beautiful Montana is with her writing. Such rich imagery and language made me fall in love with a place that I've never been too lol (which I guess makes Jax succeed in his goal).

My personal favourite moment was how Jax "got" Sasha, and their little game of telling each other a story and lie. That was too freaking cute.

The only thing I wished was different was if there were more scenes showing how the main leads fell in love - there were a couple of time jumps which were a bit jarring so I would've loved to hear more about their connection.

Would read/listen again.

Overall rating: 4/5

I was so excited to read Jax and Sasha’s story! I absolutely love the atmosphere Devney created with this duet. It’s the epitome of small town cowboys with dirty mouths and big….hearts! Jax and Sasha’s meet cute was one of my favorite scenes. It reminded me of a little boy with his first crush. It was adorable. Their push and pull is sexy, fun and frustrating. All the components of a fantastic F it moment! I love the family elements and Jax’s relationship with Lily, it’s been a question since book 1 for me, and we get answers that are honest and real. I really loved the mystery surrounding Sasha and this Eddie she writes too. I love a good mystery element! Overall this book was sweet, sexy, funny and just relatable! (West is still my #1 though!)

Devney Perry's latest installment in the Haven River Ranch series, featuring Jax and Sasha, is a captivating and emotional read. Fans of the series will be delighted to return to this beloved setting and reconnect with familiar characters.

From the outset, it's clear that Jax and Sasha have a connection. As they navigate their relationship, their vulnerability and openness with one another are both heartwarming and inspiring. I love when they ask each other "Tell me a secret..." or "Tell me a lie."

The subplot, which keeps readers guessing until the very end, adds an extra layer of intrigue to the story.

Perry's vivid descriptions bring Haven River Ranch to life, making it feel like a real place. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the audiobook narration by Steven Dexter and Ava Erickson is exceptional. Their performances perfectly capture the emotions of the story, making it an enjoyable listening experience.

Overall, Sunlight is a beautifully written and emotionally satisfying novel that will leave readers feeling uplifted and hopeful. It's a must-read for fans of contemporary romance and anyone looking for a heartwarming story about love, healing, and found family.

Thank you to Devney Perry, NetGalley, Brilliance Audio, and Valentine PR for the ALC of this audiobook. I voluntarily read it and gave an honest review.
