Long live swoony cowboys! Sunlight by Devney Perry was a sweet and emotional small-town romance that consumed my heart from start to finish. I was excited to return to Haven River Ranch for Jax and Sasha’s romance. From their grocery store meet cute, to Jax’s playful banter, along with Sasha’s sentimental words, these two had my heart right from the beginning.

Ava Erickson and Stephen Dexter perform this audiobook in dual narration. These two could not have been more perfect to voice Sasha and Jax! Ava’s soothing, sensual tone captured Sasha’s uptight yet vulnerable personality as she gave into her desires for Jax, and made the best of her new life in Montana. Stephen’s deep, baritone voice matched Jax’s playful, charismatic, and protective spirit as he fell hard and fast for Sasha. The instant chemistry between these two was magnetic and both narrations brought the tension and the longing.

Overall, I LOVED this book. If you are a fan of a small town romance with a hot self-assured cowboy, a guarded new manager, grocery store cart meet cutes, accidental pregnancy, close proximity, remodeled cabins, drunk confessions with steam, he falls first, letter writing to heal, secrets and stories, doctor appointments, finding a new home, an adorable new addition, and a HEA that will brighten your heart, then you will love Sasha and Jax’s story. I always look forward to more from Devney Perry.

Absolutely inhaled this book. The narrators were on point and I could not put it down. It would’ve been read in one sitting if not for my children 😆

Sasha is a bit reserved and prickly which makes sense once you know her. I loved the build up of this mysterious part you don’t know about her.
Jax is more than what meets the eye and I loved him so much. I loved the meet cute him and Sasha have. Both have gone through so much and my heart hurt for them, but I loved the resolutions on both sides. The chemistry between them is incredible.

My feels we’re must certainly felt in this one. I loved it a lot. And if you love Accidental pregnancy, Forced proximity, Workplace, Cowboy romance, and Small town romance you will too.

I’d definitely say to read book 1 Crossroads first to get the full story of Jax, plus it’s incredible.

Sasha and Jax are so cute. I loved seeing their relationship grow and develop. Sasha has been through so many struggles and Jax was so patient with her.

There’s a certain part of the plot that had me hooked right up until the end of the book. I didn’t want to put it down. I liked the little hint about book 3 and I am super excited for it!

I really enjoyed the audio of this book. Stephen Dexter and Ava Erickson did a great job.

I was incredibly excited to read Sunlight, because of how much I LOVED Crossroads. Unfortunately, I didn't realize this was an accidental pregnancy book. That's on me because I'm sure it's posted somewhere online and maybe I already saw it and just forgot, but I felt as blindsided as the MMC did.

Now don't get me wrong, there are certain stipulations surrounding when I can tolerate or even get behind an accidental pregnancy. Unfortunately, his book hit none of them.

I love the first chunk of this book! Their meet cute was both funny and sweet. It was unique and creative! I was on board with the FMC being grumpy because she was attracted to the man who was essentially her boss and felt he was forbidden fruit. I was here 👏🏻 for 👏🏻 it 👏🏻 when she was moved into the cabin next door. Then a one night stand after he finally got her to lower some of her walls after a couple drinks at the work party? Thank you ma'am!!! This set up was stocked full of so many of my favourite tropes and I was excited to see how it would play out.

Where it fell short for me beyond that point, was how the pregnancy was used as a plot to get them together when there was already so much potential for literally anything else to bring them together. Additionally, the baby/pregnancy became the entire plot.

I actually really liked the sub-plots of navigating difficult family dynamics and the mystery side character Eddie more than the baby plot and would have loved for that to have taken on more of a prominent position in the plot.

So, while it wasn't a bad book, I don't think it was for me. I will absolutely continue to read this series because I have come to love Devney's writing and I know I will enjoy what is to come!

The narrator's were great! Stephen Dexter hasn't been my favourite narrator in some of his past performances that I've listened to, because I find he sometimes over dramatizes moments that really aren't that dramatic. Almost as if everything is said with this heightened level of vehemence, but it didn't notice it as much in this book. Ava Erikson was as wonderful as always!

Thank you to Devney Perry, Valentine PR, Brilliance Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced listener copy!
