This story was adorable! I loved how the little Hare went around asking everybody if the gift was theirs. This little book is a great one to teach children the importance of caring. Always remember, it pays to be kind!
Oleksandr Shatokhin’s latest work is an interesting little merger of animal community tale and Christmas tale. The scratchy-lined art is distinctive but, given the sweet tone of the story, it should be noted that none of the characters, with the possible exception of Little Hare, are particularly cute.
The highly linear story is enriched by subtle visual touches like Little Hare’s frustration with the box. It comes to a satisfying conclusion very fit for Christmas and clever enough to be interesting.
Simply adorable little Christmas book, I will 100% be picking up a physical copy to add to our holiday book collection! Would highly recommend - cute story, quick read, gorgeous illustrations!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!
My 5 year old and 2 year old both loved the illustrations in this book. As a Mom I loved the lesson of this book and that the main character cared more about giving and helping than receiving a gift. Would definitely recommend as a new go to Christmas seasonal book.
Little Hare wakes up to find a package outside his door. He asks everyone he knows, but it doesn’t seem to belong to anyone. Suddenly he bumps into Santa Claus. Santa explains to Little Hare about the snow storm he was caught in, which caused him to lose a bunch of presents. Little Hare offers to help Santa find & collect all the presents. In return, Little Hare is able to ride on Santa’s sleigh and deliver gifts to his friends. The next morning, Little Hare wakes up to see that Santa has left him a present-a snowmobile, It’s perfect for delivering gifts and visiting friends.
What a cute story, with such cute illustrations. I love the messages-honesty, helping & giving. This is a must have for the upcoming season!!
I did not realize this was going to be a Christmas book, but it was a pleasant surprise. Very cute story showing how wonderful it can be to help others! Very pretty pictures in the book, reminiscent of a winter forest day. I think this is a great book for a wide variety of children and ages!
A charming little story of an adorable hare's adventure on saving Christmas.
The combination of heart warming illustrations and the theme of kindness can instanly uplift our holiday spirits. A perfect children's gift.
This was so much fun. What do you do if you come across something that's not yours? Well, obviously, you go around meeting with people and find who it belongs to! Such a friendly, delightful little adventure, with a heartwarming, happy ending. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this free advance readers copy in exchange for my honest review. A beautiful children’s story that teaches the importance of doing the right thing. If you find something that doesn’t belong to you. You shouldn’t keep it! It also teaches the lesson on helping someone can make all the difference in the world. Beautiful illustrations through the whole story! Defiantly a cute book for the upcoming holiday season!
The artwork is what drew me to this book. When I saw it, I was initially thinking I would give it a pass, but then I looked closer at the cover and thought, this is one of those super cute books that will either have a nice story to go with it - the premise certainly sounded like it could - or will be all visual substance with not a lot else. I am happy to say it was the former and not the latter. Little Hare is a likeable character and goes on an adventure. She starts out annoyed by the gift that appears out of the blue, but ends up helping friends and Sanata through her desire to find an owner for the gift.
She help Santa because she realizes that her friends will miss out if she doesn't, and when asked what she wants in return, she is happy to have done a good deed.
While this may sound like a story that becomes too sweet because of it, the fact that Santa gifts Little Hare with such a great present at the end makes up for it. She goes from being a good friend to a good friend with a cool thing. No spoilers!
I think this will work as a read aloud and also for a child to thumb through on their own. Maybe not an early reader but still a good book for the younger set. And a fun Christmas gift for sure.
I loved the fun, whimsical art and the feel-good holiday spirit that this book promotes. The story is a gentle reminder to be kind and selfless, because generosity of spirit is often rewarded.
Lovely and festive. And seriously, the art is so good.
This is such a lovely story for kids to read at the holidays! Little Hare has such a big heart and is such a good friend and neighbor! It's wonderful to read picture books that teach children the importance of being a good community member and give examples of how to do so - like trying to return lost property and then helping to make sure that everyone has a happy holiday. It's a wonderful tale and the artwork is stunning. Perfect for kids ages 2-5!
Ukrainian author Oleksandr Shatokhin’s Little Hare is the most precious bunny ever! She discovers a GIANT (to Little Hare anyway) beautifully wrapped present on her doorstep and sets out to discover whose it is. Carrying it on her sleigh, Little Hare travels all around the neighborhood, without finding its owner. Until she wanders into the forest….
Children won’t be the only ones who adore this exquisite picture book with its delightful illustrations and beautiful story. Highly, highly recommended.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley, Publisher Spotlight and Red Comet Press in exchange for an honest review.
