I really loved Of Scars and Stardust by Andrea Hannah and hope to read it eventually. It's poetic and beautiful and really captures both the atmosphere/location and the emotion, especially the dynamics of sisterhood. A lovely piece of writing and a really lovely book.
Ok, that ending left me with SO MANY questions but overall this was a really solid psychological mystery with a lot of layers. I have to admit that I accidentally read a spoiler about a major plot point before I started reading, so I knew what part of the ending was going to look like, but it still managed to leave me scratching my head.
Poor Claire really is a very tragic person, and all of the events are just so, so sad. I kind of wish there was room for some kind of sequel just so I could be more clear on details, but I think there's not really space for that to happen in this story.
Pretty prose is my kryptonite. While I loved the prose and sense of atmosphere, I wish there was more clarity in this book. It straddled the line between "character with mental illness" and "actual paranormal happenings." I feel like the ambiguity was intentional, but I think in the long run it hurt the story and made the book more confusing than memorable. That said, the prose was beautiful and poetic and lush. I just wish there was more plot.
