It has been a while since I finished a book in a day! But My favorite boss did it for me. I giggled and swooned all through this book!
At first I wondered how this book was going to go since the attraction was mutual and instant and there were still a lot of pages to go.
Alex Bane is grumpy, jaded, lonely. And also passionate, caring, protective. I loved how he slowly learned to open up and cared for Magnolia. And how acceptance and having a family and a home isn't given by blood but with love. And Magnolia has the sweetest, most nurturing soul. I loved how witty she was. The scene with Alex' mother was hilarious! I loved every part of this book and it is my favorite comfort read of this year so far@

It pained me to leave this book every time I had to get off my bed and stop reading.
I really enjoyed the story and the characters!
Magnolia was adorable I loved her so much!
Bane or Alex was what every Grumpy/Sunshine lover wants! The dynamic between the two was super fun and although this trope is very known it still felt fresh!

This was a fun book. The banter between the two, wonderful. While this isn't a slow burn kind of romance, it doesn't just jump into the bedroom scenes. He doesn't think he is capable of love, thanks to his mother's treatment growing up (and even into his adult life.) He has strong feelings for her but thinks that's as deep as they go. She thinks he's wrong, but can't get him to see what she sees in him. There's no big break up scene to worry about. Not much in the way of angst. There are plenty of laughs. There is a scene or two that may cause a tear to fall, but it doesn't have much to do with their relationship. It's easy to read, and alternates between POVs. There is sexual content, but it's not a 'smutty' read. Overall, this is an enjoyable and (for the most part) an upbeat read.

*I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.

Alex Bane (aptly named) is the bane of the HR department. There is basically a revolving door in his office for the assistants he fires. It comes to a point where HR places a bet: hire an assistant yourself or pay dearly. He thinks, "how hard can it be?!" Well, pretty hard, but when he's about to cry uncle, she flies into his office - running, barefoot, disheveled, sweaty and late. For reasons unknown to man, he hires her... and his life is forever changed.

Magnolia Meyers knows she''ll be dealing with a grumpy demanding boss, but did he have to make her heart beat faster and her cheeks go pink?

They'll bicker, banter, share lunches... He'll defend her from office bullies and she'll gatekeeper his witch of a mother. They were supposed to dislike each other. Well, that ain't happening...

This was an absolute joy to read! I needed a low angst rom com that wasn't silly and this one delivered what I wanted in spades.

There are some LOL moments involving an intrusive mother's unexpected visit and latex allergies but also incredibly tender moments involving abandoned kittens and ailing dads.

If you are looking for a tender but spicy rom com with a curvy, lovely, accident prone heroine and a grumpy cinnamon roll hero, look no further. This will hit all the spots.

Thanks, Melanine, the publisher and NetGalley for the copy!

Content notes: extremely toxic relationship with a parent/family member, parent suffering from Alzheimer, death of a parent, bullying, fatshamin

Super cute read!!

I'm all about the grumpy sunshine aspect! The female lead isn't afraid of anyone. She is sweet as pie but as sharp as a knife LOL the leading male character has a chip on his shoulder but he is super attractive!

They might both come from different worlds but they complete each other!

This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed this book! It was funny, sweet and just the book I needed to read. And an adorable kitten included just to make even better! I thought the characters were great together and really completed each other. I would definitely recommend and I will be reading more from this author for sure!

This is a delightfully funny romance with some laugh out loud moments.
Alex Bane is a grumpy terrifying boss that no one can work for due to his exacting standards The company’s HR department has had enough of continually trying to fill the post of assistant for him and tells him if he can do better to interview hire someone himself. Enter Magnolia Myers’s her interview with him is hilarious but he hires her as she seems to know what she’s doing.
Magnolia turns out to be extremely efficient, witty and hard working and not prepared to take any nonsense off her boss and happy to put him in his place. Gradually their relationship becomes more personal as their attraction to each other grows with some scenes and dialogue that are so perfect and hilarious.
This story flows beautifully and as well as light moments there are some sad ones that really add to the depth of this book and make it special.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

A fun read, which starts when Magnolia gets the job as Alexanders assistant. He normally scares them off pretty quickly but magnolia proves to be different. A fun work place romance. Looking forward to the other books in this series.

When I tell you I laughed until I not only snorted but cried. At the scene with his Mom. I was dead. I would compose myself, read it again and then go into another fit of laughter. That scene alone is one of the funniest things I've ever read in my entire life.

My Favorite Boss is a grumpy sunshine office romance that was sweet, funny, and kept me 100% entertained from beginning to end. Bane goes through assistants at a record breaking speak. He is grumpy, demanding and the complete opposite of Magnolia Meyers, his new assistant. She is sweet, competent, caring and sees right through him.

While Magnolia is wonderful at her job, it takes a while for Bane to actually acknoweldge that, but eventually she wears him down. Magnolia is just what is needed to warm Bane's icy exterior and eventually their professional/personal lines blur and they find themselves in some rather compromising situations that are rather hilarious.

I adored these characters and this story line. While there is a lot of lightness and humor, there are also some more serious topics throughout the book. The author does a fabulous job of blending both so that the book isn't just humor. Magnolia's relationship with her father is complex and there is nothing humorous about that. I really liked her as a character. She took care of everyone else and put their needs above her own and she had the biggest heart. She deserved someone who would appreciate her and protect and love her, and while it took Bane a while to get there, he had a good heart and I liked them together. I have only read a couple Melanie Moreland books but this is definitely my favorite and this makes me want to go read all of the rest!

Thank you to the author and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

so I did get this as an arc and I feel bad giving it a low rating, but this just was not for me. I thought it was too cliché at times, seemed like nothing was really happening, and the main characters were annoying. anyway…

Moreland is great at little details, details on a piece of clothing, details the MMC sees in the FMC, details on memories.
Bane and Magnolia...a assistant he underestimated....a boss who has more layers than an onion. No angst, no hoops, easy flowing story.

My Favorite Boss is a witty romantic comedy featuring a grumpy boss and his too charming assistant. Magnolia and Alex are completely different, but that’s what pulls them together and keeps things interesting. They now have to navigate their working relationship, and their actual relationship. Bane and Myers can handle each other, but can Alex handle Maggie Darling?

I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this through Net Galley. My review is given freely.

I absolutely loved this book! My favorite thing? No third act breakup, no stupid mistake on either part, I kept wondering and expecting it so i was pleasantly surprised when it didn’t happen. Love that.

The storyline is sweet and slow burn on his end of things. Takes him a while to realize and I love that.

I love that he could tell something was bothering her and he pushed just enough to show he cares without forcing her to open up.

I loved his character development throughout the story.

Spicy male female grumpy sunshine office rom com. This is the second standalone book in Melanie Moreland's My Favorite series. (The first book is My Favorite Kidnapper which I also recommend.) I'm a new fan of this author and this book did not disappoint. I like the writing style, there is great banter, and I really enjoyed the main characters and their relationship. A fantastically fun read.

I adored this book. The grumpy sunshine of Alex and Maggie.Bane and Myers was wonderfully written. It was warm and sweet with out be cloying and Iloved the scene in how Banes allergies flared up, as well as Magnolia guarding the door from his awful mother and her general looking after him. Loved this book and I'm of now to look for more of this authors's books.
