Tasha goes to a book retreat to meet her favorite author but comes to find out it's not a woman but a man writing her favorite romance novels under a pen name.

I love how audiobooks bring a story to life and with the narrator's French accent it will make you swoon.

Slow burn Rom-Com, Fall, French Author, coffee shop and marriage trope.

Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The narrator's voice was too difficult to get past, and I couldn't get into the bo0k. I hope to read a physical copy of this one, as the story really appealed to me.

A Not So Fictional Fall is such a sweet romance. I enjoyed the marriage of convenience aspect of the story and I loved how it took place in the book world. I liked the family dynamic and though the romance was sweet, it felt like it moved kind of fast and I never truly felt that connection between the couple. Aside from that it was a solid read.

This contains an audiobook review:

When one of your favorite authors takes suggestions and writes one of your favorite tropes, marriage of convenience, and adds a French male lead to go with a female Bookstagramer, you know I am going to read it!

It can be hard to make a modern day marriage of convenience story seem realistic. This was twist on that trope that I haven't read before. A late night suggestion became a real book plot! I was so excited to read it!

This is a part of the Sweater Weather series. It is one of 7 closed door romcoms written by different authors. They can be read in any order and are standalone stories. The theme that connects the books is that they are set in Harvest Hollow in the Fall. I think I would have enjoyed this more had it been set there throughout the story. More than once the couple leaves town for various reasons. It made it feel a little scattered to me. That is just my personal feeling, and I know others that felt differently.

Pierre is just the nicest character. Tasha is a sweetheart as well. Their relationship starts off with a memorable meet cute and ends just as sweetly. There are some side characters that stuck with me and that I wouldn't mind seeing again.

I am anxiously awaiting getting to listen to this when audio becomes available. I think that will really help me because it will bring Pierre as a Frenchman to life more than I could in my mind.

Edited to add:
I've now listened to the audio. This is a duet audiobook meaning that all male characters' voices are done by the male narrator and the same with the females. Just as I predicted, listening to Pierre was great. I thought that the male narrator was fantastic. He had French and American accents for people of all ages. I can't give him enough praise.

I do not care for the female narrator that read this book. I've heard her read many other books, and she reads them all the same way. She doesn't take into account how the author writes or how the characters behave. She reads every book in the same manner with the same intonation for the narrative and the dialog. I cannot recommend her reading of this book.

Huge thanks to the author, Savannah Scott, and Netgalley for giving me an advanced digital copy of this audiobook. I am happy to share my honest review.

A Not So Fictional Fall
Savannah Scott

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This was the perfect book for one of my first seasonal reads this autumn!
It was cosy, it was romantic and it was bookish too! What more could we ask?

I loved the dual pov format so that we met and really got a great sense of both our main characters - and what a gorgeous pair!
Outwardly, quite the contrast but with so much going for them we automatically knew just where this storyline was heading!

I loved all the bookish content in this.
Tasha worked in publishing and met with her booksta friends to head off to a book signing of her favourite author and this is where all the fun starts.
I won't give any spoilers though (even though they're in the blurb)

Pierre wasn't quite your classic romantic Frenchman, but that's what made his development so much more!

This had a lovely small town setting vibe (after the initial meet), which was so lovely. Set in the autumn/fall and 'experiencing' all the festivals and oh my, all the apple delights in the coffee shop just made me want to settle down under a blanket with a hot chocolate and totally binge this book!

This was a pretty tame romance in total contrast to some of the super spicy reads I've had of late - but I found this really refreshing and enjoyed it just as much even without the spice!

With some great side characters - Rene, I looking right at you here! - I'd love to revisit Harvest Hollow (or even France) and read much more by this author.
A really great, cosy read - loved it!

💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

3.5 stars!

For a clean fall aesthetic romance, this was cute. I really enjoyed the plot of this story and the characters.

Meeting your favorite author in real life is always a win-win situation - but finding out that author is actually a hot French guy is bonus points. Then the said French hottie takes a liking to you in particular and somehow a week later you're entering a marriage of convenience? It's really just icing on the cake at that point.

While the plot itself has some flaws and very unrealistic, this book definitely let you live in a fantasy world for a moment and for that, I can't shame it. At the end of the day, this was cute and wholesome. Nothing mind blowing or award winning BUT...cute.

Tasha was a fun character. She's a lover of the books and has a bookstagram and for that, she's super relatable. I enjoyed her booksta bestie chats. She's seemingly down to earth and caring. She takes a liking to Pierre and I totally get it. She wants to help him out and again, I get it.

Pierre is charming and honestly kind of adorable. He writes romance books (which started as a dare, hence the pen name) and is finally coming clean. He has a great personality and I really enjoyed his character. I like that he felt just as blindsided by the idea to marry Tasha but respectfully lets her decide (as anyone should) instead of just convincing her.

The romance development was cute but fast. I think the character development and relationship development felt a little too quick for me and it made things more cheesy and unrealistic. There was a lot that just felt open ended and a tad confusing. I think that was the biggest reason for not absolutely loving this.

We kind of just get a meet cute and then a week later a marriage proposal and then what feels like another week later is the marriage and then another week later they realize they love each other. The pace was off for me. Too much happened too quickly but then not enough actually happened. Do that make sense?

Also. For a fall themed book, I felt zero fall. That kind of bummed me out, not gonna lie.

At the end of the day, I did not hate this. I didn't love it, but I enjoyed it. If you are looking for a quick and cute clean romance, give it a whirl. If you want to hear a French accent...try the audio!

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of the audiobook!

A Not So Fictional Fall by Savannah Scott is a charming and cozy marriage of convenience romcom, perfect for fall vibes! The story follows Tasha, a bookstagrammer, who is excited to meet her favorite romance author, only to find out that "Amelie De Pierre" is actually a handsome French man named Pierre. Soon after, Tasha gets a surprising proposal—marriage to Pierre!
I loved how lighthearted and sweet this book was. The chemistry between Tasha and Pierre is adorable, and their journey from strangers to a couple had me hooked. The audiobook narration by Amanda Friday and Tyler Hyrchuk really brought the story to life, especially Tyler’s French accent, which added to Pierre’s character. The dual narration kept me engaged and made the story even more enjoyable.
If you're in the mood for a feel-good, autumnal romance with fun tropes and a heartwarming storyline, this audiobook is a great pick!

I absolutely love a marriage of convenience and this one was done really well! A Not So Fictional Fall was so sweet and swoony and made me feel all warm and cozy, just as you should feel in the fall.

I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series to see how they all connect together and create a magical world.

Thank you for the review audio! I had a blast listening!

This was a cute, feel-good read. Perfectly fit for that cozy fall vibe so many of us readers eat up. A marriage of convenience story done playfully and tastefully. It was a really great pallet-cleanser of a book— not too heavy or emotional, not serious, and no overwhelming info-dumping. It did start a bit slow for me, but it really picked up and I couldn’t stop listening. The MCs were too cute together. I found the narration kept me engaged, and I especially liked the male narrator. I think I’ll be checking out some of Savannah Scott’s other Sweater Weather books. Audio ARC provided by Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op. These thoughts and opinions are my own.

I just LOVE books about books/authors and this one had me kicking my feet and giggling throughout! I think this is my favorite Savannah Scott book I've read and I'm so glad I got the arc! This is part of a series, but easily read as a Standalone story. I can't wait to read more from this series though! Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for my audio ARC!

This was a cute story that definitely gives you all of the autumn vibes in a charming small town. Tasha is a bookstagrammer and romance fan. Her favorite author is Amelie De Pierre from France. Tasha is excited to go to a book convention to meet Amelie, only to find out that Amelie is in fact a man, a very handsome French man Pierre. They hit it off at the convention. Weeks later, Tasha is shocked when she hears from Pierre's agent asking her to marry Pierre. This book had a lot of my favorite tropes, marriage of convenience, romance author, sweater weather vibes. Pierre and Tasha are two great characters and you really root for them.

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for the advanced listener copy. The audiobook is duet narration and features narrators Amanda Friday and Tyler Hyrchuk. Tyler does a very nice French accent. If you're looking for a sweet, cozy fall romance, this is you're book. 3.5 stars.

I have enjoyed other books in the Sweater Weather series, so I was excited to listen to this one on audio. I liked that it was dual POV, and the accents were fun to listen to! I also loved the booksta besties and comments about bookstagram.

But overall, I didn't love this one. It didn't feel as though the characters were as connected with Harvest Hollow as others in the series... and I didn't feel any chemistry between Tasha and Pierre.

I still plan on reading the other books in the Sweater Weather series and would like to try out more books by Savannah Scott in the future.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Victory Editing for the advanced audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

A Not So Fictional Fall is a sweet, closed door, marriage of convenience by Savannah Scott. It is part of a multi-author series (Sweater Weather) but can be read as a standalone. I loved meeting characters in Harvest Hallow and think the FMC and MMC were incredibly easy to root for! Incredibly fun story premise and love that it was bookish themed. The narration was very well done, and the dual POV is perfect for this story! Would definitely recommend for your cozy, heartfelt, autumn read!

4.5/5 ⭐️

They say you should never meet your heroes. Thankfully, in this FANTASTIC, sweet rom-com, Tasha does just that. Tasha can't wait to meet the woman behind Tasha's favorite romance books, but author isn't at all what Tasha expects. For starters, this author, Amalie de Pierre, is a MAN. A handsome man. A man with whom Tasha hits it off instantly. And he needs her help. A fake marriage is the only thing that can save Pierre, and the two decide that since they're friends, being fake married will be easy. It's anything but simple...in the BEST way!

I just adore Savannah Scott's writing. I love it SO much, that if Savannah Scott turned out to be a fabulous Frenchman, and I wasn't already happily married, I would absolutely marry her. 🤣 But seriously, the woman knows how to write heartfelt, wholesome characters who hit me in all the feels. I laugh. I swoon. I know that whenever I open a Savannah Scott book, I'm going to be able to mentally kick my feet up and enjoy the ride. It's cozy. It's fun. It's clean, which means I can listen to it with my kids around and not have to worry. Honestly though, I enjoy my romances at a variety of spice levels, and I can attest to the fact that the slow-burn and sweet interactions between these characters carry just as much weight as the bedroom scenes in many of the spicier romances I've read. It's really impressive!

I had the pleasure of listening to this audio ARC, and I really enjoyed it! I LOVE how the male narrator did all of the voices for male characters, and the female narrator did all of the voices of the female characters. It reminded me of a radio show! I was also impressed with how they jumped through a variety of accents. It was playful, creative, and engaging!

I'd like to thank the Victory Editing Netgalley Co-op and Netgalley for the audio ARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

A sweet quick book, definitely one you could pick up after a heavier story, as other reviewers have shared.

The chemistry between Tasha and Pierre is there from their first interaction, I loved the idea between the unexpected author reveal and the romance that follows.

The narration was done well, the French accent took a little getting used to, but I loved that the female parts were read by the the female narrator so we had consistency with the voices.

Overall a nice autumnal read, which works as a standalone.

This one grew on me. I struggled with the male narrator at first but I got used to it by the end. The French accent felt a little overdone and not authentic. I liked Pierre’s character though and even though the feelings are fast, it didn’t feel like instalove to me. Tasha was also a loveable character and I really liked how she calmed him at times. I wish the marriage had happened a little earlier in the story to create more tension but it was there in the end. There were also some truly funny moments as they tried to convince his family that it’s a real marriage. I liked where the story ended and how the epilogue wrapped up things.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.

Content Notes: Kisses, closed door intimacy implied
