My Thoughts: this is everything you want in a romance, it’s fun, it’s flirty, it’s spicy and it really draws you in.

We’re following Lula, who is on the verge of losing her job, she goes out with a friend to drown her sorrows and chat and she bumps into Tristan, a bloke who’s not from there he’s travelling for work.. she realises the perfect way to let loose is to pretend to be someone else for a night & have a bit of no strings attached fun with him..

All fun and games until you realise the next day at the meeting that he is the bloke who literally holds your future in his hands!

This one proved entirely impossible to put down I was invested in it from all angles, would Lula get to keep her job? would her sleazebag of a boss get his comeuppance? Would Tristan’s apologies work?

I really loved the fact that there was no dragging out certain elements of the story, the book itself is less than 200 pages, so everything happened pretty quickly but not unrealistically.

This book may be spicy, but it was also incredibly cute & had me saying “aww” more than once.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, devoured it in one sitting and I am eagerly awaiting what Christy comes out with next!

About Last Night by Christy McKellen is one of those sweet, feel-good romances that sneak up on you. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect, and it took me a little while to get into the story. But once I did, I found myself charmed by the characters and the lighthearted tone, and in the end, I’d say this book is a perfect little escape’s not the type of book that’s going to change your life, but it’s the kind of book you’ll read when you want something sweet and fun to pass the time.

McKellen strikes a good balance between romance, personal growth, and light humor. I

Overall, this is a charming, feel-good read with a likable heroine, a strong romance, and just the right amount of warmth and humor. Perfect for fans of contemporary romance looking for a light, enjoyable story to brighten their day. Highly recommended for when you need a quick, heartwarming pick-me-up!

Started this book, but I just couldn't finish it. I got in a reading slump. I liked the book, but the beginning was a bit too slow for me. So I DNF'd it

In this fun modern romance novel, readers join radio DJ Lula Lazenby when a one-night stand goes horribly wrong -- she just spent a night with her new boss who is firing her based on harsh rumors about her inability to succeed at the radio station. Tristan, her new boss, has no plans to stay in London after finishing his business at the radio station, but he can’t get Lula out of his mind for personal and professional reasons. Reinstating Lula at the station only makes things more difficult, since he’s not looking for the One and they have to keep things under wraps until he leaves. With two fiery and capable characters, readers will love this tropey workplace romance novel and the obstacles in the way of their relationship (both external and internal). Lula and Tristan’s conflicts are fun and intense, yet the underlying tension really adds to their dynamic and the atmosphere of the novel. The characters are the star of this novel, and they really have great personalities and dynamics with each other and the other characters in the novel, so readers will love following their shifting dynamic and their individual character growth over the course of this fun and spicy modern workplace romance novel.

Cute, lighthearted, and steamy. Perfect for a short palette cleanser after a hugely emotional book. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to get out of a reading slump.

Lula and Tristan were so loveable! I wish this was a little longer just so we could connect to them more, but from what we did get I really loved them.

I like the pacing too, I think this does have to do with it being shorter.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the arc. 🫶🏻

This is a new author for me but I’ve enjoyed this taste of her voice. Characters are solid, could use more originality or depth. Plot was promising and intriguing, could be refined a bit more. Romance was a balance of emotional and realistic! This was a beautiful book! Looking forward to more!

It’s Giving Cute, but Also Déjà Vu

It’s cute. Like, rom-com montage, “oops, I fell for you” cute. The chemistry between the characters was there, the banter made me smile, and the pacing kept me interested. It’s definitely the kind of book you curl up with when you need something light and sweet to end the day.

But if I’m honest, it’s also a little… familiar. Like, I’ve read this story before—different names, same vibes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still fun! It’s just not breaking any molds or giving me that “I’ll never stop thinking about this book” energy.

I enjoyed reading this book and found it as like a quick version of a chick flick. With it being a novella some minor parts were left out but nothing that affected the story. However with the amount of things that goes on, it felt like it was longer than it was. This is a work place romance; where the female main character has a one night stand before finding out he’s her new boss. Its a sweet ‘will they won’t they’ romance, but with their own past traumas. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.

Radio DJ Lula Lazenby isn’t often lost for words, but this time she’s speechless! The man she just shared an exquisite one night with turns out to be her new boss…and his first job is to fire her!

Executive Tristan Bamfield wasn’t planning to stay in London long. Turn up, handle his father’s business and leave. But his inconvenient and instantaneous attraction to Lula has really gone and complicated things!

Tristan is a professional and everyone deserves a second chance – especially when you can’t escape the red-hot memories so he quickly reinstates Lula. Until that leads to weeks of tantalizing torture working with Lula in the studio. Tristan’s not here for a happy ever after, but his challenge now is going to be figuring out how to keep their off-the-charts attraction under wraps until it’s time to leave.

Loved it. Will recommend to others

Tallulah, a DJ, works at a radio station and fears it will be her last day, upon a mistake that would most likely cost her the job: a big no no: sleeping with a colleague.
Jeremy, the station manager, a player and a absolutely not boyfriend material promised the show she is after, the Breakfast Show that is becoming vacant. He changed his mind and she also lost the Drivetime Show, so now she is floating around the station covering for whoever needs time off.
Tristan, a newly single from Edinburg, is coming to London to sort out a problem, as the son of the station owner. Turns out Jeremy, offered Tallulah a job in exchange por sex. Being a friend of his family, the issue must be resolved.
The night before the meeting, she goes out with her coworkers to celebrate a birthday and starts flirting with a cute guy: Tristan.
Instant attraction drives them together but their situation Is less than ideal. Can their attraction stand the business relationship?
Is the second bookI read by the author and I enjoyed it as the first one.
I love that the narrative comes straight to the point without many comings and goings. it’s a fast read under 200 pages.

When I started reading this book I didn't realize how short this book was so while I enjoyed it I wish it was a bit longer to flush out Lula and Tristan a bit more as characters. I really liked the story and how everything was flushed out.

About Last Night is a sizzling romantic comedy that takes workplace drama to scandalously delightful heights. With quick wit, palpable chemistry, and a healthy dose of chaos, Christy McKellen crafts a story that’s equal parts laugh-out-loud funny and toe-curlingly steamy.

Radio DJ Lula Lazenby is a firecracker—confident, snarky, and unapologetically herself. But even she’s thrown for a loop when her unforgettable one-night stand walks into her studio and announces he’s her new boss… with plans to fire her. Enter Tristan Bamfield: a buttoned-up executive with a penchant for making terrible first impressions and, apparently, even worse exit strategies. What follows is a battle of wills and wits as their undeniable attraction turns their professional lives into a simmering slow-burn.

McKellen’s knack for banter shines, with Lula and Tristan sparring their way through mounting tension in the office (and in the studio). The "forbidden romance" trope gets a fresh spin here, as both characters try—and fail spectacularly—to keep things professional while dealing with Tristan’s looming departure and their tangled feelings. The result? A delicious blend of angst, humor, and fiery passion.

The pacing is sharp, though the resolution wraps up a bit too neatly for my taste. Still, Lula and Tristan’s chemistry and McKellen’s knack for comedic timing make this book a total delight. It’s spicy without sacrificing heart, and the romantic tension will have you rooting for these two even when they’re driving each other (and you) absolutely crazy.

4 stars for a flirty, fun, and fiery rom-com that’s as irresistible as its characters. If you love sharp dialogue, steamy encounters, and a romance that balances humor and heat, About Last Night is definitely worth staying up late for.

Louise and Tristan meet at a bar under less than ideal circumstances. Louise is there with friends celebrating a birthday and Tristan really just wanted a quiet drink away from the hotel bar. Both are anticipating a stressful meeting in the morning but decide to strike up a conversation with the other. This goes well but despite their incredible connection they both know they should walk away and are ready to do so until they kiss and the connection between them is undeniable.
Now they have to navigate the complication of this connection with their previously unknown work relationship. This is well written, paced really well, the characters are interesting and relatable.

Short, warm and lovely love story! ❤️ started with pretty popular trope: hooking up with a guy from a bar and then this guy is crucial for our character’s career. But then author shows us why characters act the way they are and how beautifully they develop. I recommend reading this one!

This book fell flat for me. It wasn’t a very deep storyline. The characters weren’t very developed and the story just seemed brief. I don’t have too much to say on this, just because it felt monotone to me. Not bad, but not great either. Almost like a palette cleanser book.

I really could not get into this book. I kept trying but the characters lacked chemistry and the writing style slowed the plot. Rather than adding depth, each of their “issues” just made them sound juvenile. Sorry to say that this is not a book I’d recommend

About Last Night by Christy McKellen was a cute, quick and sweet book.

Lula Lazenby, a radio DJ, is fired by her new boss, Tristan Bamfield, who was initially planning to leave London as soon as he handled his father's business. Tristan's attraction to Lula has sparked a heated relationship, leading to weeks of torture in the studio. Tristan must keep their off-the-charts attraction hidden until they leave.

There was angst given how it is a workplace and forbidden romance and I was glad the angst wasn't stretched. They were both keeping it professional until they couldn't. I liked Lula, she was fierce and knew what she wanted and fought for that. Tristan was okay but I expected more from him.

Their chemistry was good but I needed more on emotional front. The writing and plot was interesting, however their backstory could have been better. Inspite of this, the story is a fun read and I enjoyed it. If you like light romance that is spicy, you will keep turning the pages.

Rating~ 3.5 rounded to 4

I enjoyed this book more than I thought based on the synopsis. Workplace romance are on of my go-to tropes and this one starts with a twist. Lula and Tristan had instant chemistry and turned out to be very good for each other.
