When I started reading this book I didn't realize how short this book was so while I enjoyed it I wish it was a bit longer to flush out Lula and Tristan a bit more as characters. I really liked the story and how everything was flushed out.

About Last Night is a sizzling romantic comedy that takes workplace drama to scandalously delightful heights. With quick wit, palpable chemistry, and a healthy dose of chaos, Christy McKellen crafts a story that’s equal parts laugh-out-loud funny and toe-curlingly steamy.

Radio DJ Lula Lazenby is a firecracker—confident, snarky, and unapologetically herself. But even she’s thrown for a loop when her unforgettable one-night stand walks into her studio and announces he’s her new boss… with plans to fire her. Enter Tristan Bamfield: a buttoned-up executive with a penchant for making terrible first impressions and, apparently, even worse exit strategies. What follows is a battle of wills and wits as their undeniable attraction turns their professional lives into a simmering slow-burn.

McKellen’s knack for banter shines, with Lula and Tristan sparring their way through mounting tension in the office (and in the studio). The "forbidden romance" trope gets a fresh spin here, as both characters try—and fail spectacularly—to keep things professional while dealing with Tristan’s looming departure and their tangled feelings. The result? A delicious blend of angst, humor, and fiery passion.

The pacing is sharp, though the resolution wraps up a bit too neatly for my taste. Still, Lula and Tristan’s chemistry and McKellen’s knack for comedic timing make this book a total delight. It’s spicy without sacrificing heart, and the romantic tension will have you rooting for these two even when they’re driving each other (and you) absolutely crazy.

4 stars for a flirty, fun, and fiery rom-com that’s as irresistible as its characters. If you love sharp dialogue, steamy encounters, and a romance that balances humor and heat, About Last Night is definitely worth staying up late for.

Louise and Tristan meet at a bar under less than ideal circumstances. Louise is there with friends celebrating a birthday and Tristan really just wanted a quiet drink away from the hotel bar. Both are anticipating a stressful meeting in the morning but decide to strike up a conversation with the other. This goes well but despite their incredible connection they both know they should walk away and are ready to do so until they kiss and the connection between them is undeniable.
Now they have to navigate the complication of this connection with their previously unknown work relationship. This is well written, paced really well, the characters are interesting and relatable.

Short, warm and lovely love story! ❤️ started with pretty popular trope: hooking up with a guy from a bar and then this guy is crucial for our character’s career. But then author shows us why characters act the way they are and how beautifully they develop. I recommend reading this one!

This book fell flat for me. It wasn’t a very deep storyline. The characters weren’t very developed and the story just seemed brief. I don’t have too much to say on this, just because it felt monotone to me. Not bad, but not great either. Almost like a palette cleanser book.

I really could not get into this book. I kept trying but the characters lacked chemistry and the writing style slowed the plot. Rather than adding depth, each of their “issues” just made them sound juvenile. Sorry to say that this is not a book I’d recommend

About Last Night by Christy McKellen was a cute, quick and sweet book.

Lula Lazenby, a radio DJ, is fired by her new boss, Tristan Bamfield, who was initially planning to leave London as soon as he handled his father's business. Tristan's attraction to Lula has sparked a heated relationship, leading to weeks of torture in the studio. Tristan must keep their off-the-charts attraction hidden until they leave.

There was angst given how it is a workplace and forbidden romance and I was glad the angst wasn't stretched. They were both keeping it professional until they couldn't. I liked Lula, she was fierce and knew what she wanted and fought for that. Tristan was okay but I expected more from him.

Their chemistry was good but I needed more on emotional front. The writing and plot was interesting, however their backstory could have been better. Inspite of this, the story is a fun read and I enjoyed it. If you like light romance that is spicy, you will keep turning the pages.

Rating~ 3.5 rounded to 4

I enjoyed this book more than I thought based on the synopsis. Workplace romance are on of my go-to tropes and this one starts with a twist. Lula and Tristan had instant chemistry and turned out to be very good for each other.

I’m really not sure I’d date the son of a man who’s sexually harassed me. That’s going to make for some awkward family situations if the relationship is going to be long-term. I don’t know, maybe this is just Happy For Now?

About Last Night is a fairly short read and it is enjoyable, but where it falls down is bringing in Big Topics that then aren’t handled well. That aside, the writing style is quick and flowed well. I really liked Lulu as a character. Tristian was a bit all over the place, but redeemable.

I knew this was insta-love going in and that didn’t bother me, but the romance stayed on the attraction and didn’t delve into them getting to know each other as actual people. An attempt was made but it was wishy-washy – go big or go home, imo.

I know this isn’t an overly positive review, but I did enjoy this book. I do, however, think it needed either less and embrace the novella label, or more and dig into potentially uncomfortable emotions. Instead, it’s tepid and that’s why I’ve given it 3 stars.

This was a cute fun read.
Who doesn’t like a “forbidden romance”?!
Overall it is a good fast paced read.

An authentic, at times relatable lead character, a well paced storyline that flowed with ease.... it was a lovely read!

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would from the summary. I love a good workplace romance and this one starts with a twist. Lula and Tristan had instant chemistry and turned out to be very good for each other. I'm now looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Marry Me...
Maybe?.

I read this book very quickly but I wasn't struck by it.
Tallulah has taken out a grievance against he boss at the radio station. She had a one night stand with him and then he took her off the shows she did as a DJ.
She goes out on the town with friends the night before ghe grievance is to take place.
She meets Tristan and goes back to his hotel room.
It turns out he is the one handling the grievance.
I didn't feel there was much of a story to this. I didn't like the way Tristan handled things initially.
Not for me I am afraid.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley.

This is an entertaining novel with potential for a more layered story, as there are some darker undertones.
It's a story of romance, but also how work and sex don't always mix well, and as one-night stand can have some unpleasant consequences.
That said, it's a likeable and entertaining mix of chick-lit and rom-com.
Lula is a talented woman who can cause disaster as she searches for the right one, often going for the wrong man when seeking fun.
Tristan is a powerful and sexy hunk but not adept at handling awkward situations.
Despite their flaws, these two are well-matched, and their shortcomings provide many funny moments.
It's a light read, perfect for smiling and having fun. I read it in one sitting, and it helped me relax and cheer up.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC; all opinions are mine.

Loved! Lula is a badass and I loved the way she was written. She feels really authentic and like someone I would want to hang out with. Also, the sex scenes were super hot. Yowza.

Very cute romance read and I enjoyed about working in a radio station and feelings develop not saying anything more.

2⭐️/5

This was a short but fun book and I did enjoy it but the relationship was too fast-paced and felt insta-lovey. They were exchanging love declarations after a month of knowing each other which felt unrealistic as well as discussing marriage among other things. If it was over a longer time period I'd have probably liked that aspect more but they went from a one-night-stand to realising they work together to saying they can't sleep together to sneak kissing to sleeping with each other to a third-act breakup to resolving it in like 200 pages. I did like the radio DJ aspect though and found that interesting.

Overall, I wouldn't reread but I might pick another one of the author's books up because I liked their writing style.

Whilst it is obvious where this story is going from the onset, it is well-written with believable characters and plenty of spicy romance. I like the dual viewpoint and the forced proximity of this workplace romance. It's clear that Lula knows her worth and is determined not to settle for less. I like Tristan; he's flawed but refreshingly human. It's a quick, satisfying read.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I loved this short story. Read this in two days. I was immediately immersed in the plot. In my opinion there was a lot of angst for nothing - these are two adults and should done what they wanted quicker. There was a lot of tension building up and ended up reading faster.
