This is a super fun graphic novel that reads like Pixar shorts featuring our beloved Riley and all her emotions. If you need a little more Inside Out in your life, this is the graphic novel for you. There's several mini stories within this volume like: a comeback story with a beloved video game character which is getting a reboot and helps Riley make a new friend, an uplifting moment when at a pool party, Riley overcomes the envy of everyone with brand new-name brand swim suits to have fun with her friends, and a school picture day nightmare. I was impressed with the creativity in overcoming obstacles by Riley in this graphic novel.
Any teenage girl needs this novel to know she's not alone in all that she's going through. Highly recommend for some social and emotional healing and connecting.
I received an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I read this one aloud to my 6 and 8 year old and it wasn't a favorite for this 48 year old. I will own that I am not the target audience, though. My rating will reflect my children's feelings about it.
I do want to say that the independent stories in this graphic novel do a great job addressing real life issues faced by kids entering puberty. Things that now seem silly to us as adults but I know were very real for me at that age. It felt very relevant to read with my 8 year old daughter.
This new set of adventures find Riley and her emotions navigating pimples, self-esteem issues, and other puberty changes. Entertaining for adults and children alike, this graphic novel depiction is sure to keep young readers engaged.
Adorable Inside Out book! My 9 year old loved this! I just love the message of Inside Out. As a teacher I try to implement “feeling all the feels.” My students love graphic novels so this would be such a great book for 2nd- 5th to read.
My kiddos and I really enjoyed reading additional short stories involving Riley’s emotions in this graphic novel. Then followed our story time by watching Inside Out 2 movie. :)
Thank you NetGalley, Papercutz, and Sloane Leong for an eARC copy of “The New Adventures of Disney Pixar Inside Out 2 Vol. 1”
I enjoyed reading this short graphic novel about some of my favorite Disney characters; the infamous emotions of Riley in Inside Out 2. Illustrations are great and the stories were fun to read.
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to review this book before the publication date.
