When I saw a new book out for Noelle Ihli I was soo excited, requested this ARC without looking it. I personally had a lot of trouble getting through this story, not because it was bad but it wasn’t really a thriller. I’d give this 3.5 stars but rounded up since it’s not my typical read.
If you’re expecting a fast paced thriller like her other books you will be let down. If you’re not strictly a thriller reader like me but enjoy emotionally dark stories you will love this book.
This story is based off a true story which makes this so much more heart breaking.
Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
I have read and loved each and every one of Noelle W. Ihli books, None left to tell is no exception. This is a heartbreaking but beautifully and respectfully written story about the Mountain Meadows Massacre. Noelle did a fantastic job at researching and accurately writing about the events that happened.
I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to educate themselves on the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. Wow this was a great/sad/compelling read. To read Noelle’s story in the back of the book after and see where all this comes from. I don’t even know how to write a review on this, just that this was a great read, I recommend everyone read it, but read the triggers first.
Thank you to NetGalley and Dynamite books for the arc in exchange for an honest review. I went into this book completely blind thinking it was a normal thriller and it was not. This was a historical fiction thriller with some interesting information that I did not know about before this book.
This was my first book by this author, I had heard good things so I had to jump on the bandwagon. My first thought reading this was what have I gotten myself into. The first part of the book took me forever to get through. I actually sat it down several times thinking that I wouldn’t be able to finish. Thank goodness I picked it back up! Once I got through the first part I couldn’t get enough. The story follows several women and their recollection of what was happening to them during the time in which the book is set. Each one’s story is better than the one before and even though there was a bunch of moving around, the book was fantastic. I will definitely be Chell king out more from this author.
This is the 4th book by this author. Completely different genre than her normal psychological thriller.s which I loved But this book was absolutely freaking AMAZING! Three woman’s perspective of the 1857 Utah Mountain Meadow Massacre. Based on true events it’s gut wrenching yet heart warming. 5 stars and a book that will stay with me for a very long time!!
A well written retelling of a sad story, The Mountain Meadows Massacre. Three strong female characters that will inspire strength and twist your heart up at the same time. I recommend reading, None Left to Tell by Noelle West Ihli.
WOW! What an absolutely stunning read. Hands down the best book I've read all year.
None Left to Tell was beautifully written. It was a deeply emotional story, which was hard to read at times, especially knowing it was based on something that had actually happened.
Noelle wrote it with so much heart, you could tell she really cared and that she was fully immersed in telling the story the way it should be told, which definitely showed. She gave the victims the dignity they deserved and pulled no punches in writing the side of the perpetrators.
It was great to see the story told from the female perspective. Also that we were told the story from the three sides: the perpetrators, the victims, and the scapegoats. (I can't think of the Paiutes as perpetrators, as they were definitely set up to take the blame)
This is a story that's going to stay with me for a long time. I don't even think I'm conveying well enough how good this book is. If you only read one more book this year, you need to make sure it's this one.
I can't recommend this book highly enough.
5 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley, Xpresso Book Tours, and Noelle W. Ihli for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was super intrigued by this book. I’ve read others by this author and the synopsis had me wanting to read more. It’s not like her others, which isn’t a bad thing. Definitely gives Oregon Trail vibes and that was my elementary school jam! I love that this is based on a sad but true time in US history. I loved getting into the minds of the three main woman characters. Heart breaking and gut wrenching to read but highly recommended. I gave 4 stars because at times I felt like it was difficult for me to follow.

Disclaimer: This is an honest ARC Review from my side.
I'm grateful to receive an ARC of this book. I appreciate the opportunity to review it.
None left to tell is a chilling tale about a massacre that took place in 1850s in North America. From the viewpoint of three women and a young girl, their different cultures and experiences collide in one awful event. This book is based on a true story that is difficult to retell by descendants of all involved. The author however has done her due diligence and tells this story in a way that’s haunting but so difficult to put down.
Thank you Dynamite books and NetGalley for this ARC of None Left To Tell. At first I thought this was going to be another thriller from Noelle but it turned more into a historical fiction thriller! Knowing this is based on a true story made it even more captivating to read.
I was hooked from the beginning. I really enjoy history but personally had never heard of the Mountain Meadows Massacre in 1857 before reading this. If you haven’t heard of the massacre I highly recommend with how much detail is poured within the page. More people should know this part of history. This entire book had me on an emotional rollercoaster and was thought provoking the whole time. You can truly tell how hard Noelle worked on this novel. Well done!
None Left to Tell is a departure from the books we're used to seeing by Noelle. While it's characterized as a thriller in the listing, this is definitely more historical fiction that includes elements of a thriller. Parts of this were very difficult to read due to the content and knowing that these events actually happened. There are a lot of characters to follow, but their presence is important to telling the story of the victims of the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre. It is evident that Noelle put in the time and research to tell give the victims of the massacre a voice almost 150 years later.
Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC
Wow. This was a devastating and beautiful story. I've always loved learning about different religions of the world, so when I heard this was based on a real event and largely about Mormonism, I knew it was for me. It was easy to see how personal this story was for the author. She clearly did her research to tell the story of these people's lives as accurately as possible. I've never read from her before, but I absolutely will in the future.
(I will say that marketing this as a thriller feels incorrect. I'd say it's more of a historical/family saga.)
I received an ARC from NetGalley
Although this is a historical story based on true events, it is an enjoyable thriller. As the story line starts off slow, you become intrigued and eager to read more as the story unfolds. It was informative, historical and a thriller all in one.
None Left to Tell is the based on historical events portrayal of the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre. If you are like me, you have never heard of this massacre. Due to scapegoating and historical lies to cover up the events that led up to and following the Mountain Meadows Massacre, this massacre is not well known but is of great historical significance. Noelle Ihli describes the life of trail life of the Huff family, the Morman life of the Robison family, and the Paiute tribe life of Sally, wife #4 of Chief Kanosh. This story is told through the perspectives of Katrina Huff, Lucy Robison, and Sally. While this story is marketed as a thriller, I found nothing thrilling about this historical fiction. This story is one of heartbreak and survival. The historical detail and character depth are well done; however, the story focuses on emotional and moral dilemma. The research done for this story was extremely thorough and is shown through various sermon quotes and other references to historical documents. While I enjoyed learning about this piece of history, I struggled to get into this story until part two. While part 1 was vital to creating the world for the reader to imagine, it was slow and uneventful. Part two is where the characters really pulled on my heart strings, and I struggled to keep my emotions in check.
Thank you NetGalley, Dynamite Books, and Noelle W. Ihli for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC and providing my honest feedback.
I will be thinking about this story and what happened at Mountain Meadows for the rest of my life. This historical fiction is based on the true events of the 1857 Mountain Meadows massacre where a convoy of settlers from Arkansas were making their way to California. On their way they encountered violence and destruction equated to such we in the US hadn't known before that. The POV's weaved together in this book, based on actual perspectives and lived experiences will bring you to your knees with tears in your eyes.
This book was hard to get started on, and honestly, I had a hard time even trying to finish this book. I love Noelle W. Ihli's books, from Run on Red to Grey After Dark. I was honestly excited to be able to get the advanced reader copy of this book, I could not wait to start on it. However, the switching between the characters was really hard to follow and for this to be considered a thriller, I was not thrilled at all. Not going to give up on Noelle W. Ihli books but this one certainly let me down.
I loved this authors previous books, Ask for Andrea and Run on Red being my favorites of hers.
So when I saw this book available as an arc I requested it as quickly as I could, thinking this was a thriller just like the ones I read before by her. But this is not a thriller this is definitely historical fiction, and as much as I tried to like it as much as her previous books I couldn’t, not because it’s a bad book (it’s excellent and you can really tell she did her research and then some) but because it’s really not my cup of tea.
I did like how well thought out the story is, and how we follow different points of view just like Ask for Andrea. I had never heard of this massacre, and I do think is a very important story that needs to be told. So I really appreciate how much research went into this book.
I will continue to read more books by this Author in the future but I’ll definitely be sticking to her previous books since I do enjoy the way she writes thrillers.
Thank you to NetGalley for this Arc.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc! This was nothing like other books I’ve read by this author in the past. Based on a true story, I expected it to be in the same vein as other psychological thrillers I’ve read by Noelle.
